Corporate Exchange - Nexus 7 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Am I missing something or is it Google, I can't find a way to search corporate Exchange directory for contacts with my nexus that are not on it yet? My Rezound can search for Exchange contacts and then add them to local contacts. Seems HTC has added a lot of little things that Google forgot.
Thanks

The HTC Sense Exchange support makes stock Android look like a joke, sadly.

Apparently auto sync needs to be enabled as without this, manual sync didn't work very well.

Yup. I believe all versions of Exchange 2k3 and above require autosync. Your SysAdmin should have let you know.

gmail not marking emails as read?

ok so this started this past week. I get an email and I read and delete it on my phone. later on, I go back in the gmail app and in the top left corner by "inbox" it says I have a new email, however I don't actually have a new email...when I check the gmail mobile site it shows the same email I read and deleted earlier, as unread and not deleted...
does anyone else experience this/know what I can do to fix it?

uninstall the app and reinstall it from the market.
well I can't uninstall it fully (at least not from the market) but I uninstalled updates and then updated so I'll see how that goes

The same thing has happened to me. I'm on cm7 nightly 11.

I'm on stock 2.3.3 rooted. but it also happened when I tried cm7 nightly 12.

Make sure your syncing is on. I had this problem, turned on background syncing and it was fixed. Hope that helps.
that was the first thing I checked haha. I have background data and auto sync both enabled though.

Happens to me all the time. I use gmail unread widget to view only unread mail to find the offending message

ADB / Root Explorer and delete Gmail.apk in /system/app/
I know that (sorry not trying to sound like an arrogant ass) so far uninstalling updates has worked though.

No corporate calendar

I have added my work email account and my email syncs fine, but my calendar will not sync. Anybody having this issue?

Did you set it up through the email app or in settings > accounts.
I set mine up using the latter and my calendar syncs correctly.

I'm noticing the same thing. Can't get corporate calendar to show. Calendar
Says 'no calendars'
Facebook app doesn't sync contacts either

Make sure you are set up using an exchange account, and not imap. (exchange does USE imap for mail, though, so it is possible to set up an imap account instead)
Had to wipe exchange settings and redo. Once I did that it worked

Email gmail groups

This is driving me mad. I've tried every workaround I can find, but it seems to be impossible on jellybean to send an email to contact groups.
Has anyone managed to get this to work?

Any ideas?

I've always hated the Gmail app. It was so ugly, un intuitive, and complicated. It's threaded messaging is a mess and confusing.
I always preferred HTC sense email when I used my phone.
Or better yet, windows phone 7 email is great.

Did you simply enter your email address and password or you did manual setup?
Sent from my Nexus 4 using xda premium
University of Phoenix uses Google servers so you add it like a Gmail account just change the at Gmail to at phoenix. Edu

For my university I did manual set up because you have to put the custom incoming and outgoing servers. If you don't know these you can find out from your universities IT department

I'm from Temple and they use a form of Gmail so it works fine.
If you want help. I can help you say it up. Just post what school you go to and I'll look on their site for the appropriate server instructions.

Pm me and I'll help get the setting for you
Sent from my Nexus 4 using xda premium
Like Warbuff said you usually need all that info from your IT department and then maybe your device isnt even allowed to access their server.
For me the other alternative I use, because I definitely dont want IT touching my device, is I use the web browser email version. Your school may have that, IT would know that address as well. Ex: exchange.<school name>.edu

Best calendar app

Is there a good calendar app that will sync with the iPhone? My wife wont switch from that phone and I am struggling to find a good one that can sync over both platforms. Any suggestions?

then try this Google Calendar Live Widget. I think iPhones don't have ability to use widgets.
No they dont but it would be nice to be able to enter a calendar event and have it show up on my wifes iPhone calendar also

I am able to instantly sync 2 Iphones and three android phones using Google calendar threw a datacated Gmail account, it's strictly for calendar synchronization threw out both platforms. I have no issues just syncing the calendar only.
No matter where the phones are the calendar events anyone puts in gets pushed to the other phones.
Hope that helps...

I sync the built-in calendar app on my S4 with the built-in calendar app on ipad, also using gmail. It's dead simple to use. Just enter an appointment on one and it instantly shows up on the other.
You could try Cozi. I believe it supports both devices and Android version had widgets. Can also assign tasks, grocery list, etc between family members. My wife and I use it and it works pretty well.
