[Q] Battery issue or bricked? full symptoms list - Nexus 4 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

From what I've read, a bricked phone and the known battery issue seem to have very similar symptoms.
Long story short: I was running a benchmark and the phone turned off and would not turn back on, and there was no red charging indicator. I let it charge overnight and now I have a blinking red charging indicator and I can get into Bootloader and Recovery while plugged in to the stock charger (5V 1.2 amp), but not when plugged into the computer (5V 500mA). I tried restoring AND full wipe/ fresh install and it still won't boot. When plugged into the computer I can get to the bootloader for about half a second and it will turn off. Also I can get into "download mode" on either connection, and I did not have "USB Debugging" enabled when it first turned off. What is download mode and how do I use it?
What do you guys think?

flash the factory img via fastboot.

I have the similar issue, I can't charge the battery, while charging there's about 3mins RED LED last(not flash), hold the three buttons, but just a black screen, no bootloader no download mode.

[Q] kindle doesnt have enough power to boot

I'm using the factory charger but I have twrp.when I boot it it shows the triange then shuts down then back up in a loop, what should I do.I had the charger plugged in then the kf just died
Please help
I am seeing more and more of these threads of the kindle "not charging" after TWRP is installed. I am wondering if it's user error or something deeper.
I would let it charge for a bit and see what happens. Also press the power button a few times when you turn it on until the light turns orange. If it does turn orange and boots into TWRP then you know at least the kindle is not "bricked" and you can restore a backup.

Thanks but it won't charge at all I know its not charging because when it turns on a little later it shuts back down, then it boots up and shuts down even faster than last time.
Have you try to press and hold the Power button for more than 30 seconds?
I think I need to take the battery out and charge it separately, but how would I charge it once its out?I need help.

Yes it just turns on then off
Have you try this:
Code:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1399889
If you end up stuck at the yellow triangle, in KF Utility select Boot Normal, wait for it to say <waiting for device> and then press and hold the power button 20 seconds until the fire turns off, then when its off turn it back on. This sometimes happens, I have yet to find a clean solution
If you end up stuck with a yellow triangle, do not EVER unplug it. Leave it plugged in. Check the windows drivers to make sure it isnt showing as "kindle" again. Fastboot is different and can cause this.

I have also used TWRP with Energy CM9 Kang ROM. In generally it is okay with a few non-major issues.

mad at myself
I am so mad right now...I got it working by making a charger that is one volt stronger. It booted up, but then i was going to take a picture of it to put on xda and when i plugged my charger in the seond time, the device shut down.NOW WHEN I CONNECT A CHARGER TO IT IT WONT EVEN TRY TO TURN ON,BUT IF I CLICK THE BUTTON IT TURNS ON FOR 2 SECONDS THEN TURNS OFF. I am so mad:
i assume you meant Ampere not Volt ?
usb charger has 5V - if build one with 6V (don't know how) - you will damage the device !
it should have ~2A - let it on the strong charger over night

I'm pretty sure that will work, if you can get that far. Otherwise (assuming you've already opened it) unplug the battery cable, start the fastboot command, plug in USB, then when (if? not sure it'll work) fastboot completes plug in the battery.
Changing the charging voltage won't help because the charge controller has a built in regulator. IIRC it will take something >12V, but there are probably other things on the USB V+ that might get fried at those levels.
I do remember from the tiny bit of battery charger documentation I'd seen that the Fire's charge controller does not have the flat battery recover feature, that is, provide a trickle charge by default if the battery is too low to power up the CPU. Which is flat out stupid on a consumer product.

Kindle Fire dead battery, now wont turn on

So the battery died completely in my girlfriends rooted Kindle Fire. When plugged into the USB cable via the computer, it would just keep shutting off and on again. I plugged it into the wall outlet, it boot up to CM9 and then shut right off again and indicated it was charging. Went to turn it on now and the device simply wont turn on. The back light turns on and off via the power button, but the device does NOT power on at all. Help?

Questions:
Have you pressed the power button for 20 seconds to shut it down and try again?
What version of FireFireFire are you using?
How long did you let it charge before trying again?
When the device is turned on, does it show up in your device manager?
When the device is turned on, are you able to send adb or fastboot commands like "adb devices" or "fastboot devices"?

Thanks! I was able to get it to boot finally by simply holding down the power button while it was plugged into the AC outlet. I have no idea why that worked!

[Q] Phone Not Turning Up

Hello all,
My phone is not working and I am not sure why. Last night, I was at about 30% battery and I was charging via usb from my computer. It was working fine. I later plugged it into the wall charger for the night and powered it off. This morning, I tried turning it on and it didn't boot up. I tried plugging into different chargers to make sure it is not the battery, but the phone didn't show the battery status when plugged in. This makes me believe it is a broken USB port. I already called google and initiated an RMA.
Has anyone had a similar problem or know how I can fix this?
Thanks.

Did it show a red blinking led light when you plugged it in? Also did you try hard reboot(hold power for 10sec). Or try getting into bootloader(hold power + vol down)?

When I plugged it in after discovering it wasn't turning on, it did not show a red blinking light. I tried a hard reboot with no response. I just got into the bootloader (with the power and vol down) and it turned on. Thank you for the help.
Is there anything I can do to avoid having this problem? Also, what would cause the phone to not boot up?
Thanks.

Were you using a custom kernel with UV capabilities? If not than I'm not entirely sure why this would happen. Do you normally shut your phone off and plug it in overnight? Try airplane mode at night maybe. Possibly something glitched while the phone was off and plugged in.

Interesting. I was running completely stock (no root or unlocked bootloader or anything). It might just be a bug. I'll try out the airplane mode next time. Thanks for the help.

Fully Bricked Looking for some help

My Axon was at the twrp menu at 1% this morning so i went to shut it down to charge it but i havent been able to get it back on since. At first, plugging in the charger would prompt a light vibrate and red LED every few seconds but this has slowly stopped and the red LED only flashes every so often when i hold the power button. I've been trying to get into EDL Mode but with no indication from the phone, along with no indication of connection from the computer, I've been unsuccessful. If anyone could offer me some help to even get into EDL mode so i can flash out of this, that would be great. Thanks
Maybe forcing the EDL mode, using a moded USB cable:
https://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=3537990
Search for the cable and instructions on that link
It seems like it's trying to boot into EDL mode but the battery isn't taking a charge. Have you tried connecting the phone to the wall charger for like an hour and then connect it to the PC?

Had the same issue on omni, flashed other rom at around 20 % to not run into this situation.
Try reconnecting power a few times, maybe you can put enough juice into the battery to boot right into twrp - that's where it might charge - did for others - and where you have to go anyway for a new rom.
I had a similar situation on the stock rom. I had battery but the phone shut down and wouldn't start. When I plugged the phone in it didn't show a charging light. I left the phone plugged in for a few minutes then simply held the power button for about a minute and it eventually booted. Good luck

Try to plug the power cable then firmly push (hold) the power button for 2 minutes. Sometimes this way the stucked phone turns on... Good luck!
