Samsung Dive - Supported ROMS - Galaxy Y GT-S5360 and Duos 6102 Q&A, Help & Troubl

Which ROMS support the Samsung Dive APP?
I have used so far Hyperion 7 and 8, and although the app is installed and it lets me register my account, whenever I test the lockscreen, ring phone, recover info on my device, the web platform never gets to connect to my phone, even if it has WiFi connection.
Samsung Dive is a usefull security and free APP that will help you recover, or at least protect your personal info if your Galaxy Y (or any Samsung Android phone) gets lost.
Thanks for your advice.

[Q] SAMSUNG = Nightmare

Before anybody starts to bash me for NOT SEARCHING, Well, I did, I have been doing nothing in the past 3 days except for SEARCHING, here at XDA, and over our friend Google.
Simple things in life that I DON"T KNOW "WHY" I can't do: Its all regarding my Galaxy Tab:
1. SYNC Application that REALLY WORKS ?????
Cannot find Literally ANY that could connect to my Tab, Tried Kies 1.5.3 & 2.0 , (YOUR PHONE IS NOT SUPPORTED)
Tried SAMSUNG New PC STUDIO - TOTAL Failure!
2. No Descent BACKUP APPLICATION? OMG
I remember very well that my HTC Touch HD / HD2 came with a Full version of Sprite Backup, Nothing for Samsung? Do I have to fiddle around trying 30+ to backup (ALL PROGRAMS & DATA)?????????
3. WHERE THE HELL IS THE OFFICIAL WEBSITE THAT HAS FIRMWARE UPGRADES AND DOWNLOADS?
Its not a NOKIA you know, It's a Tablet that is using a NOT-Fully-Optimized-For-Tablets Froyo version. and its an OPEN SOURCE for God's sake, OPEN HOW???
Lots of official Fixes should be easily accessible, along with ROM and RADIO Upgrades, Just like what I'm used to with HTC Devices since 8 years
Where is SAMSUNG SUPPORT???????????????????????????
I just have the Silly User Guide and that's about it, what the hell have they been thinking????????????
have they dumped the device, and became fully DEPENDABLE on XDA-Dev?
4. After Restoring Factory settings, I install very limitted amount of Appz, all legal and free, then restore my Contacts using one application, then Restore my SMS using another Application, then restore my Bookmarks with a third application (Damn it) I then lose the ringtone.
It simply does not RING nor VIBRATE when someone calls me.
Please don't tell me to TRY Titanium Backup!!!!!!!!!!
Do I have to go through an infinite list of CRAP, in COLORS, to BACKUP my DATA????????????????????????????????
I'm Terribly sorry to come RANT in here, its my only WAY to Exhaust my ANGER
What astonishes me here at XDA too, that there is no section for Guides, Tips, just some FM versions, and lots of talk about UNLOCKING the SGT, am I blind to that extent?

I know that the uprades as far as firmaware should come from your provider just as it does with your phone. Just like with the HD2, they release a firmware update to the providers, then the providers release it after they tweak it.
What seems to be wrong with the firmware that is on the tab? I have had my tab a few month and have had ZERO issues with it. I rooted it, and thats all I needed.
As far as syncing your data, you dont want to use titanium backup that does everything, so I am not sure what your asking for.
Dear Willy
If you want real help, please, tell us what is your vision of ideal backup and sync.
I don't see you using Google for that.
I have switched from iPhone in part because I didn't want iTunes and computer every time I wanted to reload data. With Google I am in sync with my online data after logging on Gmail.
It is possible that it does not work as well outside the US but for that purpose Samsung provides Kies software for Windows. Check this link: http://www.samsung.com/uk/support/main/supportMain.do
I did not use it because don't see useful for me but it is exactly a replacement for online sync and backup.
Hope this will help
Thank you dubie76, Now I have some understandings
Thank you too Adapt0r, you are totally correct regarding iTunes and their Lock-Down policy, let alone the very tight platform.
But Still, TB is Okay, but #1 its a PAID App, #2 its really complicated to go through lots of options in various color-codes to get the job done.
I was thinking that there would be an Application that has (Backup/Restore) 2 buttons to do what you need, as simple as that.
and although the SGT is being released in the US to carrier, they also release it in some other countries w/o a Carrier nor a Contract, in such case, SAMSUNG should be providing the Support for it, no body else.
Regarding PC Sync, I just need it to upgrade my FW (the official way) w/o hacks and boot-loader modes, I did some studies regarding my current FW, and its 3 month old, I demand an upgrade to make my usage easier, not to mention the bug fixes.
Every first-release FW/ROM has its flaws, that it get sorted out through UPDATES, got my point?
one more time I would like to thank you for the positive and friendly attitude, I really appreciate that

TB will backup and restore everything with one click. Its the batch operation. Yes the pro version is paid. If you really want it, I can PM it to you, but you have blocked PMs. I have been messing with hybrid roms and builds for a long time and I recommend you dont mess with tablet roms yet.
In your list of complains you can add: the worst support for Microsoft Exchange ever seen
The Tab Software is a joke... I can't believe I have read in several articles it was much better than many other Android devices. I don't want to know how bad others are....
@dubie76:
PM is now Okay, I guess it has been jacked up after upgrading the Forum.

What do you want to backup exactly? (Other than Descent which doesn't have an Android port that I'm aware of).
Kies should work fine, if it's not working then you may have the SGT in debug mode or something.
Kies _is_ the "official website" for firmware updates.
I've never owned a phone that will backup _everything_ for later restoration after a factory reset in an easy fashion. An iPhone does a reasonable job of it I guess.
@dubie76:
Words of Thanking can't do you justice, Truely appreciate it.
KIES, for Some reason won't connect to my SGT, and BTW, if USB Debugging mode is enabled, you will get a prompt on the tab saying that you have to Disable it if you want to connect your SGT to your PC.
The weird thing is, some plp. say that we should choose UPGRADE, from the list that pops up when connecting the SGT to a PC/Notebook. Well, I only have KIES / MASS STORAGE / MEDIA PLAYER.
Last question:
If I bought my SGT from KUWAIT (Middle East), do I have to use a KIES version that is Downloaded off Kuwait region (through SAMSUNG Website)? if so, then that's absurd, if Not, then what should I do?
KIES will be used only to UPGRADE the FW, not for backup or Appz installations or anything else.
thx again for all the help, its so comforting to Ask and be Answered, I Love you XDA People.
Will
I have the same predicament. After installing the Kies, it went well then suddenly it froze. I reinstalled it and updated the driver, still cannot sync. The apps just stayed in "connecting" mode and cannot seem to recognize the gtb. I'm hoping for another alternative. It seems this Kies thing is a waste of my time.
The Samsung website specifically says that Kies will not work in certain territories.
Google search for samsung galaxy tab FAQs and you will find a link that contains all sorts of responses from Samsung, official ones, regarding the issues people seem to be having on this thread.

[Q] Possible to lock phone in case of theft?

My Galaxy 1 was stolen from me in Feb, after that i went through a lent s3 and now proud owner of an s4 (i9500).
So i have two questions on this:
1) is there an equivalent for what a bios password is in a PC?
(have to go short something in hardware to bypass, only is asked upon powerup/hard reboot).
2) Is is technically possible for an app to lock on custom sim? (possibly modifying efs folder)
Thanks!

Thank you for patronizing me but that didnt answer my question, already been through pages of results when i previous galaxy was stolen (even tried locking from google play). None of the apps listed on a google search for locking and tracking do what i ask.
Centralized cloud based locking doesnt work (a blacklisted imei can get reinstated fairly easy), neither does the standard password Operating System level password.
Thats why i am asking for specific alternative ways of locking the phone that should be (if possible) more tampering resistant.
1) bios equivalent password.(requiering hardware shorting to bypass)
2) custom simlock
I use avast! free mobile security (https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.avast.android.mobilesecurity&hl=en),
the anti-theft module has option to block the phone if the sim card is changed

What a woeful answer. Try reading before you be a ****.
In answer, no there is nothing similar to a BIOS lock on Android phones, however like mist813 said, Avast is quite good. If you have root access you can install it as a system apk then even if the thief wipes your phone, it's still there.
You could also try lookout its free. Can do tracking, remote wipe and also takes a photo of anyone trying to unlock your phone.
I don't think there is anything that can prevent someone from just flashing a new firmware and wiping the phone completely.

I don't think there is an equivalent to BIOS lock in Android. I'm not sure if you tried Lookout or the native Samsung remote control under security settings. Both gives you the options to locate, lock, scream or wipe your data. I tried the locate and scream options and they work. Never tried lock or wipe, but they should also work! Now going to the fact of wether someone can bypass or overcome these security measures, then I personally think it's possible and whatever we do he can find a way to go around it depending on how smart and resourceful he is! If my phone is stolen, frankly speaking I won't waste my time trying to find it or just lock it. All what I'll care about is to wipe the data off, and hopefully these softwares will work if needed!

Okay lets not be a **** this time.
1) There's nothing equivalent to that bios thing
2) http://stackoverflow.com/questions/...-the-device-on-removal-of-sim-card-or-sd-card
There are also apps that just notify you if sim card is changed for example this https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=instigate.simCardChangeNotifier&hl=fi
And of course there are some apps that let you remotely control your phone for example http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=7567932
Abrojo,
You don't really need a third-party app for this.
Please check out the Samsung Dive service. (www.samsungdive.com)
You can track your phone, lock it with a custom password, sound an alarm, etc...
The problem is, the phone needs to have Internet access.
I am using the Cerberus app (https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.lsdroid.cerberus&hl=en)
This is the best rated Anti-theft app you can find for your Android.
a license costs 3USD if I remember correctly. With one license you can secure up to five Android phones.
Featuers:
Track your phone
Remote lock
Remote wipe
And a lot more options...
A couple of things that I think are extremely useful:
When a wrong password or pattern is drawn to unlock your phone, a picture is taken with the front camera and emailed to you together with the location of the phone.
When the SIM is swapped, you can configure up to three phone numbers that will receive an SMS with the new SIM card number and the location of the phone.
You can hide the app from the App Drawer.
Check it out... very useful
i use also cerberusapp 4 years now. everything is perfect. when u install as system app u can do everything.

Apparently there is also rumors of LoJack already being built into these phones, with the possibility to activate it some time in the near future. Don't remember all the details, but I just read an article about that. Not being patronizing when I say it, but Google Galaxy S4 LoJack and look into it.
Also, I am on Verizon, and am testing out their mobile security app that is preinstalled. It's $1 a month, but they allow you to remotely lock your phone, wipe it, and track it should you lose it. I don't believe it embedded at the hardware level, but it is something that gives me a little piece of mind.
Edit: I went to switch to the Norton Mobile Security app, since I use it for all of my other devices, and discovered that the Verizon Mobile Security App - once activated - cannot be uninstalled, force stopped, you cannot clear the data, and you cannot disable it. In order to do so, I first have to go into my Verizon account online, sign in, and unsubscribe from the service. After realizing that, I have chosen to keep the Verizon security app, because it has that extra layer of security. Are there ways of bypassing that, I'm sure there are. But assuming that my phone is stolen by some low level thief and not some crazy high level criminal circuit, I should have no problem retrieving it.

Samsung Link

Does anyone know how I can put Samsung Link on my Galaxy S5? All Galaxy models have had it (it was once called Allshare), but this app is one of the main reasons why I've stuck with Samsung products. Not only for the auto backup to my desktop PC whenever I snap a picture or record a video (I can still set that up through just about any cloud service, but it still requires the extra step of downloading it onto my PC), but I use it extensively when I'm traveling. If I need a file or document, porn, etc from one of my PCs at home, Samsung Link allows me to access all of my registered devices remotely and download the file no matter where I am. It also allows me to stream video to any of my Samsung TVs in the house. I know I can do this through other apps, but Samsung Link allowed me to do all of these. This is probably the only app from Samsung that I've used on a daily basis since owning my Galaxy S2 Skyrocket. AT&T is my service provider, and I bet they took this app off their phones before loading it up with their stuff.

On my T-Mo version Samsung Link Platform, the prerequisite to run Link, has been pre-installed, I doubt ATT would mess with Samsung's core apps.
See if this works for you: https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.sec.pcw
I get not compatible on this device. . I also tried installing the apk from some random site, and I keep getting link fcs
Anyone help with this?
Am not seeing this too. Why?
Just an FYI, I installed the omega rom and seems they have the framework already, and link works fine now

Presentation, and question of a newcomer - signal and GT-S6102 ?

Hello everyone,
I'm pretty new to this forum, I've been following some discussions and threads for about 3 to 4 weeks now, I wrote a mail to members privately, and this is now my first forum posting, opening a thread.
My mobile phone is of course a Samsung Galaxy Y Duos aka GT-S6102, which I have had for about three and a half years now and I'm pretty satisfied with the phone I must say.
I am not really a programmer (oh well, I played around with Pascal a few decades ago!), neither am I a developer – and I admire all the more the work done by some of you here –, and I been using Linux for over 10 years now and I know my ways around this operating system.
So when I got my first smartphone I quickly realised that there had to be a way for me to free my phone.
And with the beginning of the new year, I began to take action! Inspired by all extremely useful information I read on this site, I was able to
- root my phone,
- work with CWM (temporary version ), among other things make a nandroid backup,
- install a new kernel (iDuos),
- free space on the internal storage on my phone (thanks to Link2SD), etc...
And much of the software, the methods, the information, came from the pages of this site – so thanks again to all of the contributors!
But the reason that makes me post this message today is the frustration that I have, due to the fact that I was absolutely unable to install an application that I was very eager to test and use : Signal private messenger.
No matter what I tried, the app (3.9 and now 3.10) would not get installed on my phone!
I tried with Wi-Fi, with the data service of my phone service carrier, I tried with a second cellphone which is just the same as mine, I tried using Hideman VPN service, I even tried a version of Signal that did not come from the play store (of course I did not forget to tick "allow third-party applications") – all with no success!
I even got in touch with Open Whisper System (the only thing I haven't done so far is get in touch with Google) and exchanged several mails with Masha (well, perhaps my ability to communicate is not the best), but I did not get any answer to my last question – which is the reason why I am asking the same question to the readers of this thread (and users of Samsung Galaxy Y Duos aka GT-S6102) :
do you know if Open Whisper System's Signal Private Messenger is supposed to work with our cellular telephone?
Do you have it on your phones? Did you have trouble installing it?
Anyway thanks a lot for your answers! And if there is anything else you need to know about the configuration of my phone, please let me know.

Wear OS App on Android Go Device possible?

Hi there,
today my new Skagen Falster 3 (Wear OS) arrived, but my problem is, that my Samsung Galaxy S7 is broken and my currenty device is a ZTE Blade A5 2019. It seems like this device is using Android Go instead of the normal Android (i currently dont know what the technical/software side difference is and i cant find any information about that) and the wear os app is not supported there. I downloaded the apk from the internet but i cant start the app.
I want to wait 1-2 month till i buy a new phone, so is there any way to install the wear os app on my phone? Every way is ok for me, rooting/installing another android version, installing some additional google aps, etc. even when the device slows down. Im looking forward to any help and really appreciate it.
Thanks.
Only custom firmware. I have trying same on Redmi Go. Disabling Go in build.prop didn't help.
