[Q] Best Protective Case - Nexus 4 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hello, I hope you're doing well.
Is there a consensus on the best protective Nexus 4 case? I've spent hours looking through cases and reading reviews, but haven't been able to find a case that provides the utmost protection, such as Lifeproof and Otterbox cases. The closest I've been able to find is a Ballistic case.
If there isn't a consensus, can I get some recommendations, please? Thank you very much.
Vic

There's no obvious answer but I would imagine it would be this or maybe this if you consider that more protective.

Thanks for the reply! These look like viable options, but I'm still looking for an all-protection case that can actually take phone drops, just in case.

Thanks for the help; I did mention the Ballistic case in my original post (I just couldn't provide a direct link). It's helpful to see another member confirm that the Ballistic case is a good one.
I plan to place an order for this Ballistic case once it comes back in stock, unless I find a better case.
It looks like the Ballistic case doesn't come with a screen protector, so I ended up getting a XtremeGuard protector for $3 (protection for both front and back) using code 70OFF. My research shows that Zagg and Best Skins Ever have better screen protectors, but their prices are significantly higher.

Silicon Protection

Hi, I'm looking for a silicon protection for my kaiser. Yesterday I drop my kaiser for my first time... It has 3 horrible body scratches now... the smooth surface is anything but scrached protected...
I'm now looking for some kind of protection. My first idea was to get a silicon protector, like those used for ipods... But I have not been able to find any....
Does any of you own one of those?
Any recomendation?
http://shop.brando.com.hk/prod_detail.php?prod_id=02247&dept_id=039&cat_id=0763
Thanks for the info!!!
Are u using one of those? Are u still able to use the HTC holder (The one included in the original HTC TyTN 2 box)?
Have u buy any other product from that website?
thanks !!!!!
I am not using it for the TyTNII, but had one for the P3600. Have ordered many products from that site.....no problems whatsoever. Still think Brando screen protectors are amongst the best you can find.
Has anyone seen a similar silicone case but with a plastic screen protector like that for the wizard?
- TKN
How the Brando works if we slide and tile the screen? Anyone can post a pic for this?
they sell it on ebay for $10 shipped
Hi,i've bought one for my trinity and it was very effective. So i command one ( Brando ) for my Kaiser.I've received it today and it's really a bad product, the protection fall all the time.So i continue to use my trinity silicon case.So don't buy this !
I've got one off eBay, maybe fake who knows, but it suffers exactly as Marcdu81 says. Its rubbish, falls off all of the time, on the Artimes, I used a silicon protector in cunjunction with a slip case, and was hoping to repeat that with the kaiser. Looks like the Seido super thin case is the only way, at ~£30 to the UK. I only paid £80 + contract for the kaiser so £30 is a lot for a case. I'll carry on hunting for a good and cheap case.
DO NOT BUY THAT!!!
It's a piece of junk just like everyone said. The best protection currently for this device is the Seidio rubberized case. I know it's pricey, but it's well worth it.
Trust me, I tried the cheap way and got that piece of crap from ebay. Do like I did and bite the bullet. You can get the Seidio rubberized case for a few bucks cheaper on ebay.
http://cgi.ebay.com/724-Seidio-Rubb...ryZ20337QQssPageNameZWDVWQQrdZ1QQcmdZViewItem
Actually, once you get the Seidio case, the crappy silicone case fits much better when you use both at the same time.
do they sell the Seidio rubberized case without the hole for the second camera in the front? my tilt doesnt have the second camera.

Unfortunately, they don't... Yet. They say they MIGHT in the future but I wouldn't hold my breath. Believe me, the beauty of this case makes up for the useless hole.
Is this the one you guys are saying is crap? >>>http://www.buy.com/retail/product.asp?sku=207883654&listingid=21964170&dcaid=17902
This is the one i have and it fits like a globe.
you can find it on ebay onder this name: Seidio Rubberized Case HTC Tilt 8925/Kaiser/TyTN 2
or go to tiltsite.com and seach for seidio brand

But Anyway I have to second or third the notion about the Seido Rubberized Case. It stays on the Phone SO well and you can slide a tilt with ease. It's so awesome.
Thanks guys, I'm going to bite the bullet and get the Seidio rubberized case then. Hopefully there won't be problems with this rubber falling off!

really ? i have never used a lanyard on any mobile phone.thanks for all the replys anyway
The silicone rubber skins seem a good way to protect the HD from scratches and small drops, as they have enough thickness to absorb a bit of shock.
On the other hand, they do make it look a bit chunky, but not in such a really bad way.
They are incredibly cheap on Ebay. I bought two for only about 3 UK pounds, and they are quite well finished, which seemed great value.

My silicone cases came from an Ebay seller called "cheapgadget".
Postage to UK was free (obviously, watch out for inflated postage from far east sellers)
They were shipped from the UK and it took about 3 days. Each one is individually cellophane wrapped and was nice and clean on arrival.
The accessory holes all align well and they fit closely but not unduly tight.
I've not really noticed a problem with muck sticking to them, but they do have a slight "dead flesh" texture so I could understand that bits of lint from clothing might tend to stick to them. But they are easy to slip on and off without stressing anything, I would probably wash one while the other was in use.

Whats D Nexus⁴ Case Ure Using? Plan To Get Nicer Ones :D

Lets discuss on the casings for Nexus⁴ attactive(Cool Design) ones and protective(Flip Cases) ones! Please do provide names or links or pictures for it
Nexus⁴ is indeed a hot device, its worth my waiting like a drug addict everyday bugging my gmail for the shipping notification.
there r few cases about the glass at the back experiencing minor cracks,
so i think its better to protect it even though it looks gorgeous without casing and so hard to get a new one
i already had this Nillkin Flip Case at Tmall on standby, bought it from china's "amazon", tmall.com, their original factory's online store
Then i saw Cruzerlite's Androidified A2 TPU Case For Nexus⁴(Teal) attracted by its Android design,
while scrolling around i saw another nice oneXdadevelopers's CASE for Nexus⁴, also by Cruzerlite.
Both are looking cool, but before i buy them i wanna know if there are other casings with Cool Designs out there? Since i chose Cruzerlite because of its designs. I want my phone to look nice even with cases on.
I also need Flip Cases (Book Style)(prefer leather ones, because Nillkin's surface didnt convice me and it gets dirty easily those who had Nillkin flip case will know about this) and as what you all know, Flip Cases for Nexus 4 is extremely hard to find
what i want is 1 Cool Looking, and 1 Flip Case(Book Style) , both are hard to find,
other casings like diztronics' simple design or other cases that i found in this forum board even though they may give protection to device but their design didnt appeal to me(not to insult)
thats why i wanna find out if there are better ones, those who knows of Cool Looking, and Flip Case please do tell me about it, simple user review if possible :highfive:
I too have the xda case on order even though I have a set up I am currently satisfied with. I have now, the Diztronic Ultra hard thin that doesn't cover the top or bottom of the phone like the Diztronic TPU does. It works for me because I can now use the Seidio Surface spring holster made for the GNEX without much of an issue. The thiness of the shell works for me but not for all, so you'll need to decide what you are comfortable with.
According to your list, you are looking at tpu all the way. For the choices listed, which I have most of them except for the Cruzerlite models, I would go for the Diztronic tpu. It's pretty darn thin and the only negative is that the logo on the tpu is a bit glossy for my taste, but you get used to it . Happy shopping!

urm not necessarily tpu, im looking towards more good appearance cases thats what cruzerlite design attracted me
my plan is to use 1 nice looking flipcase for full protection, and another nice looking which only covers back  as long as its looking good even when not naked :highfive:
I love my poetic bumper, I had an sline tpu case and it was ok but the power button became increasingly difficult to press.

Yeah, a side flip should be preferable to top-down. Though I will give you guys an update on functionality.

I got the Poetic case when it was for under $4 and I absolutely love it! I am wallet-free as of now, since all I carry is the phone and the case which holds 3 cards and cash. It takes time for the leather to stretch and accomodate 3 cards, but now its the best thing I bought, well, after my N4 lol
The only downer is its a pain to use this case by just one hand, and taking a picture without the aid of the other hand is next to impossible.
So I've ordered the amCase(TM) Slim fit case for Google Nexus 4 -Matte Black for under $3 including shipping. Should be here tomorrow/Tuesday, so will update my post.
Cheers!

Looking for belt clip without case

I've been looking for a belt holster with a clip/fastener on the top that can be used without a case. Something like this, but obviously for the M:
http://www.ebay.com/itm/SWIVEL-HOLS...107789?pt=PDA_Accessories&hash=item27c2b10d8d
I haven't seen anything, I'm thinking probably because this is a fairly low-volume phone. Does anyone know of one?
I think this is what your looking for...or close to it. This one looks like you have to already own the seidio case.

recommend a case that does not compromise N4's good looks

Just bought a nexus 4 after google's price cut, can someone recommend me a case that offer a good protection without compromising the N4's looks?
Currently I am considering the ringke fusion.
Any other recommendations?

I got the case you are considering but it has yet to arrive in the post which is annoying as i won't take my N4 outside without some sort of case.
Will let you know once i get it which should hopefully be later today or tomorrow.
There is no case that won't compromise its looks, simple as that. Even with the Ringke Fusion.. sure, you can see the back, but through plastic. And the rest is still TPU.. and in reality it doesn't look as flawless and nice as in the renders. There's always a compromise.
You could go for more minimalistic cases such as the quicksand ones. I'm currently using one of them and I really like its look and feel because it doesn't change it as much (I also have a diztronic tpu case which I'll only be using for when I expect rougher conditions, e.g. travel, hiking or whatever). But it comes at the cost of less protection for the device.
It's a matter of what you prioritize and what risks you're willing to take for better look and feel.

that is one ugly cheap case...
It's certainly cheap, but I much prefer it to my diztronic tpu case (http://tpu-cases.com/index.php?main_page=product_info&cPath=46_76&products_id=303). The material feels very nice and not plastic-y (a bit like jeans, I'd say) and it hardly adds any bulk, which tpu cases do. I also really dislike the shiny border around the edge most tpu cases have, cause that does look pretty cheap.
I personally ordered it cause I was looking for a different case and this one seemed like a very low-risk option, and I ended up liking it a lot. Your mileage may vary, obviously.

I had a similar type case on my nexus for a few months and it was great. Had a really great feel to it and it actually looks pretty darn sharp when it's on the phone. Doesn't look cheap at all. :good:
thanks, but I think I'll stick with the Ringke Fusion case. I like the clear back.
U can't go wrong with the oem bumper. It offers protection on all edges and prevents both front and back from laying directly on surfaces. I've had it on my white N4 since purchase and i don't have a scratch. Not to mention I am constantly subject to compliments and questions peeked by its sexy appearance.

I personally would go with bumper case and maybe add a screen protector on both sides (something like Ghost Armor or Zagg or dBrand skin if you want to go a bit more expensive, OR just get something like XtremeGuard for the back for a cheap alternative - XtremeGuard costs me about $2 for front and back  )

For me and is what I use.
I reallu glad with bumper case from poetic.
Your phone keep with the original look protected, if you want a litle more prtection 2 skins one on the back and other on the front.

Hands down two best slim cases. (My opinion lol)

Ditto. Unless you're extraordinarily clumsy, the OEM bumper should provide plenty of protection. I've had my Nexus 4 with bumper since December of last year and it has survived many drops. It's even survived a drop onto concrete, complete with a few bounces, with no scratch. The crack that my Nexus 4 has came from when I took the case off momentarily and then it dropped about a foot and a half onto the soft part of an open binder. >_<
OEM bumper + front and back clear skins. Everything else is hideous.
Currently using the Incipio Feather, but I have to admit that the N4 pretty much only looks good caseless.
Tried the official bumper, but it just didn't stick either.

Exactly. Coming from a person who has never liked or had cases on their devices - I just got the OEM bumper in the mail yesterday, and I'm stunned at how good it looks. It actually makes the phone look nicer with the aluminium accents, and protects it rather well.
What do you suggest?
Alright so I'm a little late to the Nexus 4 party, but after much delay, I finally decided to upgrade from my archaic Vibrant and order a shiny new N4. Although it hasn't come in just yet, I was interested to know what cases you guys might suggest. You see here's my dilemma... I know for a fact that the Ringke Slim and other like cases are a major no-no for me. They offer too little protection and from what I've heard, leave the very top and bottom of the device exposed. I would get the OEM bumper as it's very attractive, but I've read many, many, many reviews that note its fragility--specifically around the USB port, which apparently is prone to cracking. I'm also considering the Ringke Fusion as it seems to be a popular choice, or the possibility of going with a wallet style case, as I won't need a screen protector then.
However I'm very torn, as there are so many options and so many drawbacks...
What do you guys think? Is the OEM bumper really all that fragile? Does it break as a result of removing the phone from it or does it crack completely on its own? Should I not even consider the OEM bumper case and go with something much more durable (i.e. the Ringke Fusion, wallet case)? Should I just go naked!?!? (referring to the phone of course )
Thanks in advance! Looking forward to hearing some feedback!
