Hey there,
probably there are some similar threads that I dont understand.
I tried to flash my HTC HD2 with Android 4.1.2 Jelly Bean (http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1930240&highlight=4+2)
I followed these steps:
1. I created a EXT4 Partition on my microSD Card
2. I wiped my Phone (Wipe29)
2. I did cLK Repartition with HD2 Android NAND Toolkit ( with exact that Partition Size / Cache that should be used)
3. I installed the cLK Recovery with the Toolkit.
4. I copied the Android ROM in the microSD
5. I opended cLK Recovery and started to Install Android 4.1.2 via SD card (zip file)
--> At the end of the installation it says: assert failed:write_raw_image("/tmp/boot.img","boot")
->> Installation aborted.....
What can I do ?
Thanks a lot!
make the boot partition a meg or so larger.

Hey,
I need help with Imilka Gingerbread 0.8, as I don't have 10 posts yet I can't reply in that thread so I have to start a new thread (which is actually .. pretty odd).
I have an EU HTC HD2 and I'm trying to install NAND + CWR, it is my fourth ROM Im using, first NAND, all SDbased androids did work immediatly
Flashed original HTC HD2 ROM
Reformatted SD card FAT32
Used Task 29
Installed radio 2.15.50.14
Installed HSPL 2.08
Installed MAGLDR1.13
Flashed it according to advice 5/170/44 layout
Did every wipe at AD Recovery
Partitioned my 32gb SDcard 1024mb with 0 swap
Installed zip from SDcard
Rebooted
Waiting for about 2 hours at the black screen with green HTC, post says: First boot can take up to 10-20 minutes.
EU users need 5/180/5 CWR system partition and ext2/3/4 partition on sdcard.
TMOUS users need 5/360/5 or more CWR system partition.
ext2/3/4 partition will be made @ AD Recovery partition SD card ?
If not, how can I make this partition, without linux and stuff. Just windows 7.
Or am I doing it in the wrong order?
Just did it all over again
This time with 5/180/5 layout and made ext3 partition using easeus on windows using instead of clockwork thingy.
nope, still doesn't go past the black screen + green HTC
booting for an hour now, nothing
Think I found the problem.
Updated AD recovery to 5.0.2.3 orsomething there was an option show log
and it said creation of EXT2 partition was aborted, so now I put the SD in my card reader and manually formated it ext2. retrying now
Nope, nothing
I can manually mount everything but SD-EXT
show log::
mount: mounting /dev/block/mmcblk0p2 on /sd-ext
failed: invalid argument
Hello XDA forum,
I recently received my dad's 'old' HD2, and I wanted to get rid of the WM6.5. In the past I've been playing around with some other Android devices, and those were pretty straight forward.
Now, after reading a few guides I tried installing the PARANOID Android ROM through CWM. (I have HSPL 2.08, MAGLDR, CWM etcetera. (I also did a Team29 wipe)) But now I face a problem; When I try to install the .zip file, it prompts me with the following lines:
__________________________
--Installing:/sdcard/PARANOIDANDROID HD2 [v1.5a].zip
Finding update package...
Opening update package...
Installing update...
Installation aborted.
__________________________
I have tried every single way of mounting the SDcard and writing the .zip file to it over and over again, but all it does give the same error over and over. (MAGLDR USB Storage, CWM Mounting, Mounting in card reader and so forth.)
Now my question is; Am I doing something horribly wrong?
First of all, once you do a "Team29" wipe, you'd have to reinstall MAGLDR and then CWM.
It's "Task29", and you don't have to do it every time you want to install a ROM.
Now, what Radio are you on? And what is your CWM version? And can you open the ROM.zip on your PC without errors?

Oh ofcourse. I meant Task29. Also, I did reinstall MAGLDR and CWM. The CWM version is v5.0.2.6 and my radio is Leo_RADIO_2.15.50.14.
When I open the zip on the PC, everything is just fine.

What partition size did you flash?

Well, I wasn't sure what to take for that, so I took the default for the Cache(45MB I believe that is in the HD2Toolkit, and for the Partition size I took 200MB)
Also, I tried several SD cards, all giving me the same errors. I also tried to install a Tytung kernel .zip file which gives the exact same error.
After a failed install, select the advanced > report error option in cwm. Then mount your SD card as USB mass storage, get the log from /clockworkmod and post it here.
Swyped from my HTC HD2 using XDA app

As I know PARANOIDANDROID HD2 v1.5b, it has 2Mb cache and 150Mb system partition.
For installation follow this, (your sdcard must have clean ext partition or you can create it via recovery mod. And you have to have 2.08.HSPL)
1. do Task29
2. install Radio ROM 2.15.50.14
3. Install Magldr 1.13 (via HD2 Toolkit Magldr button)
4. Install Recovery CWM (2Mb system cache, 150 Mb system Partition, via HD2 Toolkit Recovery Button)
5. Clear cache/Dalvick cache (on recovery mode your HTC)
6. Load your android .zip file in sdcard via Recovery mod.
Please read this..(PARANOIDANDROID HD2 v1.5b Rom)
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1662881
it says,
..
Partition table :
Code:
misc ya 1M
boot yboot|ro 5M
system ya 150M
cache ya 2M
userdata ya|asize|hr allsize

not necessary
I don't think I'm doing anything wrong. Followed these instructions to the letter, at least 6 times now.
The process I've followed:
1. Task29 to wipe phone
2. Installed cLK 1.5.11 with CWM 8
3. Partitioned the SD card (16GB Adata Class 10) using MiniTool in Windows
- 8GB FAT32 primary
- 8GB EXT4 primary
4. Copied ROM zip to SD card (eg. CMTight_leo_beta_v1.0_div3.zip)
5. Copied "flash_sboot_v2.zip" to SD card
6. Rebooted phone, added sboot partition in cLK
7. Booted recovery, and installed ROM
- SD-EXT
- no RMNET
8. Installed "flash_sboot_v2.zip"
9. Rebooted, selected "KERNEL @ sboot [UNDEFINED]"
... and I land up back in recovery, exactly where the installation process left off (step 8).
I have tried various ROM's, all the same result.
"Show Log" from CWM curiously shows:
mtd: erase failure at 0x0002000 (I/O Error)
mtd: erase failure at 0x0002000 (I/O Error)
mtd: skipping write block at 0x00020000
Done!script result was [Done!]

I've tried searching for the "UNDEFINED" sboot error, but found a vague reference to startup.txt, but no descriptive fix.
Any help? Please!!

In clk recovery, there is
an Option to Partition your sd card. Use this After patition with Mini Partition Tool. Only with Mini Partition Tool it does Not work. Try it and give Feedback.
Fixed!

Thanks, Fixed.
I had tried partitioning in cLK, but the same problem persisted.
So, I downloaded and installed cLK without recovery, and installed 4EXT recovery.
Used 4EXT to partition the SD card, 4GB EXT4 and rest FAT32.
Now all works.

Thats not correct, I formated my sdcard this weekend, repartition it using Minitoool and I have everything working.
The steps followed are the correct, so I don't see a reason to it doesnt work.
The problem might be the recovery, try one of these and then try to install rom again:
http://www.goo.im/devs/Xylograph/Various/Recoveries/NAND
Those recoverys can be flashed using your recovery, no need to use fastboot commands.
Notice that the 4Ext recovery needs 7mb recovery size in cLK.
Personaly I use TWRP (5mb) and have no problems.
EDIT: GiZZoR You're faster than me! :good:
Just for completeness, my device is partitioned as:
recovery 10mb
system 150mb
cache 10mb
sboot 5mb
Using:
kokotas' LK version 1.5.1.1 (black_lk_20120920-No_Rec.7z)
Xlyograph's 4EXT NAND Recovery
Hi all
I have HTC HD2 EU , I installed WP7 and Android (Parandroid witch is a good one ) with dualboot ; thanks to all developpers .
Now I want to keep WP7 and switch to other android roms using 4ext correctly (or CWM) , like BOXMAX Rom installatio
How install
- must have 2 part ext4 ... use "MiniTool Partition Wizard Home Edition" for Re Partition:
1- First Partition "Fat 32" "Primary" (mmcblk0p1)
2- Second Partition "Primary" "Ext4" for system 1gb or 680mb (mmcblk0p2)
3- Third Partition "Primary" "Ext4" for data 1gb (mmcblk0p3)
- use this recovery and boot it from haret or Magldr SD ...
- before flash rom : wipe and format for sd-ext & sd-ext2 from recovery menu then :
- flash rom .
I found a lot of threads but for nand android .
Thanks
I tried some threads , get into 4ext recovery and off course I deleted WP7 , but when started Android ( BOXMAX NATIVE SD) it stuck on boot image for more than 40 min !
I installed WP7 again and Android ( parandroid ) .
keep waiting for help !
You have your answer right within your post, " use this recovery and boot it from haret or Magldr SD ..."
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1337663
Are you using the SD recovery from here https://app.box.com/s/jh2w3keom4x81p1qsw8f which is linked in those instructions?
It sounds like you are flashing 4ext recovery (CWM) and therefore wiping your wp7 in nand.
The sd recovery boots from magldr ad sd.
If you want to triple boot paranoid nativesd, boxmax directsd and wp7, you might want to increase the size of your first sd-ext partition to say 1.5 or 2Gb. So that you have;
fat32 (size=whatever is leftover) first (primary)
EXT4 size 1.5 or 2Gb second (primary)
EXT4 size 1Gb third (primary)
WP7 (whatever you choose) fourth (primary)
Thank you a lot for your answers and your time ,
Now I have dualboot WP7 in nand (4.5 G) and Parandroid Rom in the sd with very easy install .
I only want dualboot , keep WP7 in nand , than use 4ext recovery to wipe Parandroid Rom and flash BOXMAX Rom ( as said in instructions here ) in sd , because when I tried partition with 4ext recovery when flashing BOXMAX Rom I wiped my WP7 from nand :silly: .
How to flash the BOXMAX rom using 4ext recovery without deleting nand ,step by step plz if possible ?

I think you will need to create an Ext4 partition of at least 1Gb on your Fat32 partition, either with minitool partition wizard or use Extended TWRP as your recovery.
my tut is too old from times when android run from FAT32 sdcard...
for nand version procedure is different and i not make tut for that
i sold my HD2 two years ago and since then i cant test this options....
THIS IS ONLY FROM MY MEMORY (maybe i write something wrong or forgot some steps)
for NAND ROM installation you need 4EXTRecovery for SDcard... not sure for complete procedure but first make WP7 partition (look my old tut) and rest left for android...
put 4EXTRecovery on SDcard (for example in A folder)
boot to magldr
10.Services, 1.BootSettings, 3.AD SD Dir, select "A"
10.Services, 1.BootSettings, 1.Boot source, 1. Android from SD
2.Boot AD SD
wait to load 4EXTRecovery
advanced - Partition SD card
select minimum 512 mb, this is EXT4 partition for system, rest of memory if you want is FAT32
2nd sd-ext skip
swap skip
Yes - I'm sure
EXT4
wait format to complete
red button to back to main menu when format complete...
now is ready to install ROM...
togle usb storage (in 4EXTRecovery)
copy ROM in zip file to SDcard
Next, Next, Agree, Next - Install on NativeSD/semi NativSD - Format (yes)
RMNET Connection
select options you want, after restart when boot to magldr just select which system you want boot
10.Services, 1.BootSettings,
thanks for this....dual boot hd2 finaly succeded
ur video tut is still useful....thanks alot
