Hi guys,
I have a problem with my Jade. I've charged it last evening and I've barely used it. When I've went to bed it was 96% charged (ARIELbattery) and 10 minutes used.
This morning, when I've woke up, The battery was 33% and and the phone was 34 minutes usage time.
Something is wrong. Since there were no bluetooth, no wifi, no anything activated. And for sure, nobody played with the phone during the night.
This is not the first time when I see this behavior, but is the first time when the decrease is so big.
I suspect an app, but I do not know which of them. How can I see it?
Do you have other suggestions?
thanks!
There are some possible reasons:
Some SD-Cards seem to drain battery, so you can take it out for a test.
Some additional software is told to drain battery. Did you install something?
It is also helpful to switch to "flight-mode" over night. This normally reduces battery drain to nearly zero, if no additional consumers exist.
Hi,
Yes I've installed some software, like gAlarm, S2U2, icontact,ThumbCal, Skype, etc but last night none of them was started.
What can I do with the SD Card?! I need the SD-Card. Which card does not drain battery and which does?
I cannot turn off the phone over night.
Some clues here in this forum

I've read those before posting, but there was no answer to my problem. I have 67% drop of battery in 8 hours without touching the phone.
This is most likely that your device goes to screenoff or unattended power state instead of sleep. Your power settings might be corrupted. To change that go to your power settings advanced tab and change everything there (checkboxes and sliders), press ok and then change them back as they were, press ok. I'd suggest to keep the device turning off in one minute while on battery and none of the checkboxes for cord powered mode. There is a really freaky thing that even if you get your device to sleep with power button it will go back to screenoff mode after time specified by the turn off device slider while on battery IF you don't have that turn-off-while-on-battery checkbox checked there.

Thanks for the answer. But I do not really understand what you are saying here.
My power settings are: 30sec for Screen Light and 1 min for Device (on battery).
None of the check boxes is set for the case when the device is powered.
It could also be due to the battery defect. After some time the battery could lose its storage ability (because of the defect), despite the mAH stated.
As a comparison, my battery is nearly one year old. On full charge, overnight drawdown (on sleep mode) is about 2%-3% .

I have no own experiences with this programs but Skype for example needs permanent connection to internet when activated (be care of the background job!). This uses data connection and this drains battery. I can not quantify this in %. In addition Skype does not allow the system to switch to deep sleep because it needs permanent connection!
None of the app was started. I just have Skype installed, but it was not used.

I found some German threads that discuss a problem with this software and battery life. Some loose 10% over night others 50%. I think you should try to uninstall (and afterwards soft-reset!) for a night and see what happens.
Please keep us informed.
First of all, I've disabled the 3G. Now it only gsm with gprs. Since I've done this it seems the battery drop is ... super ok. If yesterday morning I've had 33%, this morning I've had 20%, so 13% drop in 24h, and the phone was used normally as before.
last night the S2U2 was not started.
I will wait until the battery level reaches 10% an I will do a full charge.
I will keep you informed. Thanks to all for advices!
Some clues here too ...

Hi,
So now, 2 weeks later... after setting my Jade to GSM only (no 3G) I get 7-8 days of normal usage. As I said, before I always had to charge it the third day.
Normally, i get -28mAh drain in standby. When the screen is on around -130mAh (for wake up) and then -70mAh. In a gsm call i get around -250mAh.
I did not switch the phone back to 3G yet, but I will and I will see again the battery drain.
PS: the values were provided by Mobadi.
i believe i have S2U2 installed... and my phones fine!
i have the overloaded rom... and battery life seems great only needs charging every 3 or so days and i do use it quite alot!
so...
after some time of testing and re-testing I still have, from time to time, the behavior that during night I see a massive drop in battery level and an increase of the usage time.
I do not know what is going on, but I suspect that some app is waking up the device to do some work (without turning on the screen), and the Jade cannot go to sleep anymore for a while.
I've notice the same behavior on a HTC Diamond 2.
Since none of the app I have installed on my Jade are installed on my friends Diamond2, I have no idea what app could do that.
If anybody has any idea, feel free .... I am idea-less!
I've made myself a little application to log the current values of the power data. So, I've saw that my phone wakes up each hour by himself, without turning on the screen, does some work (cca -70mA) and after 30sec goes back to sleep.
Any ideea about this?
Hi everyone im new to the forums and recently got my note 3 last week on Thursday. I have the Tmobile version.
When I charge the phone when the device is completely turned off and it fully charges and the red LED turns green, I turn on my phone and my battery percentage shows 99%, but if I charge while the phone is on then itll charge too 100%.
Another issue that I am having is that my battery dies qquicky. I don't know if this has something to do when I first got the phone because I didnt charge it once I had got the phone and once I did get the phone I factory reseted it so that I could go through the initial setup (you know the menus that tell you to put your language, wifi, gmail etc.)
I have everything turned off I have my brightness always set to 0 I don't use auto brightness. I only increase the brightness when im outside in the sun. I have auto syncing completley turned off I only have notifications from apps such as Facebook, instagram and other apps.
I Don't have anything running in the background nor do I have any wakelocks happening.
My battery life right now is at 85% I was using the chrome browser since this morning starting at 7:10am its now 8:48am. Im a heavy user I guess because I use the web Brower a lot. On the second day that I had the device I was using the web constantly it total time was 8 or 8 and a half hours with 5 and a halfs of screen on time.
I really don't wanna go and exchange the device because this is the only issue that im having and I already have everything that I want setup and am accustomed to this phone but if its the devices problem and not the battery than I have no choice but to exchange.
Im hoping that you guys on xda will be able to help me out thanks in advance
I forgot to inform you guys that I also have gps and location services completely turned off aswell

hmm from my opinion of it is when u charge a phone which is completely off. after you fully charge your phone and unplug the charger it takes more energy to power on the phone. Therefore it is recommended to charge by not switching off the phone or running any apps or games while charging it and let it charge.

it is normal. like i said never ever turn off your phone while charging it as it consume much more energy or power to turn it back on. and for a newer phone always let it die completely to 0% and let it charge fully until 100% without turn off the phone. it takes awhile before the battery being callibrated
It is normal. The GN3 drop from 100% to 99% very fast compared to the GN2.

I let the battery die down to 1% lastnight and then turned it off b4 it turned itself off. But I read that it was bad to let the battery die down to 0 though.

its normal. its a battery protection method i first saw in S3 if i remember correctly.
the usage you mentioned earlier seems reasonable to me. you will need to use the phone longer to get an idea of how much battery certain apps will take.
BTW, you can use reading mode to reduce the battery drain even further.
to do that, click on the more settings icon in notification drawer, long press the reading mode icon, turn it on, press the pencil icon then select the app or apps that you use most with screen on. you will notice that the screen gets a red tint when u use this mode, but for me it does save a bit more battery than normal mode.
i use it with whatsapp, music and chrome.
hope that helps!
I let my phone fully die to where it turn itself off and pluged it in the charger and turn it back on once it fully charge I unpluged it and started using it its at 95%, and has been on for 37 mins with 32 min on screen time I updated 3 apps went on facebook and instagram for a quick bit. I dont think thats normal

Looks normal to me. My N3 decreases quickly from 100% to 90% then decreases slowly.
I'am not an heavy user : a few calls, a few sms/mms, facebook, twitter, web thru apps like magazine or flipboard, calendar and task usage, mp3 (around 20 min), no gps or location (only if needed), phone mode at night in order to use alarm on morning ...
My N3 lasts 3 days (last time was 3 days et 8 hours !) where my N2 was down after 2 days or less usage.
Hello all,
Recently i've been noticing that my GS4 battery is draining too fast, i think that it's time to recalibrate it. Since my phone is not rooted, i have searched for guides on how to recalibrate the battery.. and i found this one:
To calibrate your Android phone battery correctly:
1-First drain your battery down. Let the device switch itself off naturally. You will know if it is completely dead because it won’t switch on again.
2-Place the phone ion charge while it is turned off. Allow it to charge for at the very least 2 hours, if not 4, until the battery meter reads 100%
3-Switch on the phone while the charge is still connected to it. When your phone is on the home screen, leave the charger connected for a further 2 minutes before removing it.
4-Repeat the above steps twice more, always allowing the phone to completely discharge first.
The reason for leaving your charger connected is to allow the configuration files to update with the new, correct charge values. Some of the best ways to avoid battery usage is to make sure all connections are turned off when they are not in use – Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, GPS etc. Make sure your screen locks down in under a minute when not in use and that your screen is not set too bright
My question is.. is it safe to turn on the phone while it is charging? is it safe to turn on the phone when it is plugged to a charger while it is off?
Thank you in advance.

Hi
Yes and yes
BTW I do not believe to much in those battery calibration methods , as far as i know a new file is generated each time you switch off and back on
You can charge your phone in any status, on, off, flight mode, playing games etc.It will only affect your charging speed.
As for calibration - I have heard about such thing and try to discharge my battery till some 1-3% and full charge at least once a month. Don't know if this helps. I think also important is the environment temperature and how you discharge the last percent. My suggestion is that last percent must be discharged as slow as possible - with screen locked let it die natural way, with normal usage, very slowly. I and other usually switch all possible things to drain battery faster at this stage. That seems wrong on my personal opinion.

NO NO NO
Draining your battery is BAD!!! Draining it below 0 is the dumbest thing you can do. That damages your battery. Whoever made that "guide" has absolutely no understanding about his battery.
Calibrating is easy.
Charge to 100%. Pull your battery. Put battery back in. Charge again until full when powered off. Volia calibrated.
Though it will probably not help. My guess is that you just need a new battery (if it's no software problem).
Hey guys.
My first post ever, so please bare with me.
I made a big mistake updating to 4.4.2 coz I've had only problems since that. I have a rooted SM-N9005 with a Danish carrier. I have read and read and read for at fix, but can't seem. to find on. . My problem is this.. I can have a fully charged battery, unplug the phone and can, by using the power button, turn the phone off and on again. BUT if I pull the battery out and insert it again after 10 sec, then the phone doesn't turn on. It only turns if it gets the power cord in again. That's the first problem.
The second on is the battery drain. I have done a dalvik clean, cache partition clean, factory reset, soft reset, hard reset, uinstalled pretty much every app that I have... nothing helps. I even bought a new battery.
Can you guys help me or guide me in the right direction on what to do??
Thank you in advance
Can't help with your first problem, sorry.
How quickly is your battery draining? Can you post a screenshot? And more details - custom/stock ROM, kernel etc.
You can try and pin down what is the biggest battery hog with Better Battery Stats.

Hey B3311
Thanks for the reply
A couple of screen shots. Even when using BBS I haven't been able to pin point the exact cut print
Dreadful drain indeed....
Can you see what's under "partial wakelocks" and "kernel wakelocks" in BBS?
You had wifi on but still huge drain when the screen was off and the phone was asleep, hence I'm thinking wakelock - something is stopping your phone from sleeping. But you need BBS or Wake Lock Detector to pin it down.
They can be a ***** to find, but can be zapped.

Hey Jdomadia
Pretty much everything is off.. data . GPS.. Bluetooth and so on.. I'm still wondering if my problem is due to the power button issue that I'm having
Hi Bro i had the same problem the source of it is the developper option just desable them from settings and every thing will be normal again i hope that works for you too
Hey Abdel310
That never cross my mind. Better Google how to disable them once I have enabled them. Bro, I tried everything so I'm gonna try this straight away!!
Just did it, and man if that helps I'll be the happiest camper you'll ever see
i had the same problem i left my phone fully charged and i go to sleep and at the morning i found it off and 0 % battery and no apps runnig just try it and full charg it and it will not drain battery at lest in the sleep mode
Sadly disabling the developer option didn't fix the problem..
it still drain battery in sleep mode ?
the latest screen shots from better battery stats. I can't find any partial wake lock that seems to cause the drain
It's starting to sound more like a malfunctioning battery itself. Especially considering your first issue.
Have you tried a different battery?
Also try it without the SIMcard. A malfunctioning SIM can also cause these issues. (Happened to me back on 4.3. Drained 12%/h, not a single wakelock and 98% deep sleep. No SIM, no drain. New SIM fixed it.)

If you can get your hands on another battery, just to test, try that (could be you bought a bummer battery) Do you have any friends with Note 3 you can swap batteries with just to see what it does?
Hey Burtcom
tanks for the reply. I can't believe that it's the battery, without knowing for sure. I'm still wondering if my problem is due to the power button issue.. as I mentioned, if I remove a fully charged battery from the phone and reinsert it, then the phone won't turn on. it will only turn on with a power cord.
Now my phone drains the battery even when the phone is off.. like completely turn off.
hello guys, last night i charged my phone then go to bed, this morning i wake up and can't turn on my phone. After a while i figured out that even my phone is fully charged, it's battery still show 0% and in order to keep using it i will have to charged it all the time, i have tried changed the rom but still no luck. Have anyone ever eperienced this bug, how can i bring back my normal phone? please guys, any help would be really appreciated. thank you!
