Galaxy Tab email app

I have a Vibrant now and the email app is awful. The ui and app itself are fine, but it takes a good 5 minutes to retrieve my emails and it takes forever to open, move or delete an email. I'm very interested in the galaxy tab but email will be one of my primary uses for the device and I dont want to drop a lot of money on something with a broken email app.
How is the stock email application on the galaxy tab?
Thanks!

[Q] Changing Displayed Name under Email

Hi
Recently got a galaxy tab 10.1, and has 3.1 installed - no upgrade available yet apparently.
Anyway, I'm not sure if I've missed something glaringly obvious, but I'm reasonably literate with stuff like this. I'm trying to get my email setup, and have tried a number of apps. Until ICS comes out, Ive decided to use the stock email app, the samsung one..
Anyway, I can add multiple accounts, so I've got gmail, hotmail etc. The only problem is gmail (IMAP?) has a change displayed name feature, whereas hotmail (on activesync?) doesn't... So if my email was [email protected], my gmail has a setting to change that to whatever I want, in this instance Mr Bob Smith. However, the hotmail doesn't, and when I send an email, it's from bigbillybob, essentially just the first part of the email address.
I can't believe that this is a bug / intentional, but the setting isn't there under the hotmail account. I was hoping someone could shed some light on this. No luck searching - Otherwise it's a great little device.
This is not the Galaxy Tab 10.1 forums. This is for the original Galaxy Tab.

I found a workaround to change the "Your Name" setting in the stock Email app. I posted the details at http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=31342076.

Stock Email Downgraded from 4.1.2 to 4.2.2

I originally thought I was imagining it but the stock email client on my new Google Nexus 7 appears to be very functionally different than that on my Samsung Galaxy S2 or Amazon Kindle Fire HD. The Nexus 7 is running Android 4.2.2, the Galaxy S2 is running 4.1.2 and the Kindle Fire is running whatever it came out of the factory but the email client experience matches that on the S2.
To give examples by how different the client is, when I press the menu button on the Nexus I get:
- Move
- Mark As Unread
- Settings
On the Galaxy S2, I get:
- Search
- Folders
- Sort By
- View Mode
- Font Size
- Settings
- Delete All
From Combined View, selecting two emails from different accounts on the Nexus gives me:
- Add Star
On the Galaxy S2, I get:
- Move
- Mark As Unread
The Galaxy S2 / Kindle email seems to do folders a lot more competently too.
Going into the Applications control panel, I can see that S2 / Fire is "E-Mail Version 4.0" and Nexus is "E-Mail Version 4.1". Have I done something majorly wrong to cause the stock client to lose functionality and, if so, how do I fix it? I'm using six IMAP accounts and one Exchange account, for the record.
Regards, Ade.
