persano,
Thank you for this post, it really allowed me to take a break and reflect since Audio used to be my profession.
This code is very interesting, this brings me back to when I was a sound engineer and we would tweak the music. Today's digital tweaking is very similar to what we in the analogue days - just what used to take us weeks, now takes just hours. The designer did a solid job on the code, very impressive. He uses Xloud and Bravia engines (relabels them) then he tweaks the ICS audio settings in build.prop - this is a solid find and gave me some more ideas to add to our code. We spoke last night and realized we may need to change the name of our software since it will be doing everything we do manually through automation.
Send me a PM if you have any ideas on a new name for Kindle Fire First Aide. I guess what we could do is market the Kindle Fire First Aide package and keep it free, then offer a new package for a fee that would have a GUI and automated tweaks. So far our new menu is 31 choices long! We have not even gotten to the custom ROM additions. We are using Busybox to inject code into build.prop thereby completely eliminating the potential Kindle Brick.
Where are you, one day I could fly and meet you for coffee, I own an aircraft - single engine Lancair. We'll plan this maybe during a convention since we attend most of the computer, security and electronics conventions.

May someone please provide the following apk files (they're for my ReloadedROM™ v1.2 build):
youtube
titanium backup
play music
play books
google maps
streetview in maps
play movies
google plus
google translate
google earth
ICS Browser+ (free version)
and APEX Launcher
also, if you have a app for setting CPU that is free and you prefer, include that apk too.
The first person to provide all of the correct files will be greatly thanked. This will make my build go faster and I will provide an eta on v1.2 in this thread once I get the files. Thank you.

My wife has a fire, I got it for her at Christmas, she really likes it, but the Amazon app store blows, she wants me to root it and install something different. my question is, where do I start? I have rooted my phone and am currently running miui, but I know this will be a totally different way. any help would be great

I used this to root my KF and it was super easy. Also, I had very little experience rooting or with SDK or ADB and I was able to do it. The author, northmendo is very nice and helped me out a lot even with stupid questions. I highly recommend KindleWater and northmendo.
I hope this helps.

Those guides will be great.
Most important thing you'll have to do is to ensure that you install a custom recovery, bootloader, and to make sure that both fastboot/adb are working before goofing around with anything post-root.
If you look around you'll see that people tend to get themselves into trouble with this device more than others

Maybe it's the "Chicken Little" in me, but I just have to raise my eyebrow at this practice. Don't you think you should be getting this stuff from trusted sources to put into your ROM? This might be a happy little family here, but asking any random user to grab these things for you seems a little imprudent to me. I realize the chances of someone with malicious intent playing some games with you is fairly small, but you're going to have no idea where they got these files or what they might have done with them before they got sent to you.

I'm sorry I brought up what you concede to be a legitimate concern rather than sing your praises. Good luck with your ROM.
I was reading today that the source code for XBMC has been made available to compile an APK.
What's your thoughts on this?
I have to say this should be great.

Thats a shame. I would have loved to give it a whirl. Any news on if there is going to be any Dev on XDA for the TF101?
If so maybe set up a new thread with all the info needed to compile the APK.
By the way anybody looking for the source kan find it here: https://github.com/xbmc/android
The guide to compile the APK can be located here: https://github.com/xbmc/android/blob/android-rebase-8/docs/README.android

The app looks amazing, but the volume on videos seems very low. Anyone else having an issue?
Edit: Ignore that, seems the volume control for xbmc doesn't override the system volume, that and I'm an idiot.

Having the sound issueś aswell and can´t find the option in XBMC to edit sound levels.
Also is anyone having issue´s with force close. I don´t know if it is a JellyBean issue of if it is because of the early stages the app is still in.
But great work on getting it working :good:
I only just heard of xbmc a few weeks ago and now i have the pleasure of trying this. I can confirm that this works too, but im having a bit of trouble with some unpleasant stuttering for some avi files. anyone get this running flawlessly for them, or have newer update(s)?
Sent from my Transformer TF101 using xda app-developers app
Video works fine, I have no sound on tv streams (icefilms, 1channel etc), force closes at random times and an occasional flickering of the screen other then that XBMC itself is looking great I always thought the XBMC interface would work well with a touchscreen device and it does!
Cheers for sharing the link

(UPDATE I was wrong there's no update lesson for everyone is to triple check before you post and don't trust Google search!! I guess the thread is a place holder for now )
It looks like theres a new update available
Here's what Amazon tells us about the update
"Here’s what’s new:
Return borrowed books: You can now return books from within your library by long pressing on a borrowed book and selecting return. Performance improvements and other general enhancements."
But what other things did they patch?
Deleted
We've no way of knowing what they did until someone installs the update. But if you are root, you can launch the DeviceSoftwareOTA app if you're brave and look how fast it fills up with "updates". Just have to make sure to keep a shell open so you can constantly delete the app's data while you watch. I've never owned other devices that had to have so many apps constantly accessing the internet and sending/receiving who knows what kind of data.

That could be the case, assuming they are even aware of it yet. It took them abut 3 or 4 months when I posted here about the first round a year or so ago...maybe more. It will come a point when they can only disable and replace so many commands before ADB stops working.
