Krsmqn,
The day this was posted the book was free, we checked it out too and downloaded a Free copy. They probably decided to charge everyone since we posted free advertising for Amazon! Maybe, naaa, Amzon would never do something like that, would they?

Finally!!!!
EDIT: My gosh, it already has 250,000 downloads...
Yeah, but are we talking ad free version or is it the same version? And why are we hating on the Amazon market? Do we not like daily free apps now? I'm quite a fan of not only finally getting my ad free angry birds... getting it free definitely helped. Free swift key keyboard was just gravy.
That, plus the fact that it actually keeps track of apps between wipes makes it pretty great IMO.

Amazon Market is DRM'd - can't pull the APK and use it anywhere. And, it's ad-free... With Adfree Android or on SRF.
so it has ads?
bah, sticking with amazon version.

The Amazon market doesn't update apps, does it? I mean, will it notify you of updates? I have an Amazon account with Student Prime but I had no idea I could link them together...haha
EDIT: I'm dumb, I was using the wrong Amazon account.

For sure! Prime is definitively a beast. $4 over night shipping is a win in my books.

Complaining about DRM in this fashion is ridiculous.
DRM music is crappy because it can prevent you from listening to your music. DRM games are crappy because developers have yet to figure that out so people get locked out of their game (see Assassin's Creed II). But DRM apps?
So, I don't plan to share my paid apps with the public (apps are cheap and if you share app warez, you're literally stealing from someone). DRM doesn't matter. I use the Amazon App market (free, legit paid apps and tracking of all app downloads? Yes please). DRM doesn't matter. Amazon is reliable and isn't going anywhere anytime soon. DRM does not matter. Ultimately, in this scenario, DRM is entirely beneficial. It literally protects the developer's interest while still being nonintrusive.
As a side note, ads have never bothered me. They're mostly nonintrusive and help pay your developers. Removing ads is another way to shaft the people who work hard to provide you with the content you love.
That said, Angry Birds Rio is the best they've done yet. Can't wait for the rest of the levels.

Amazon free app of the day list

Lets post all the free amazon apps of the day starting with back breaker football. Does anyone have the apk for this
Sent from my SPH-D700 using Tapatalk
Amazon requires you have their market downloaded and running in the background for Amazon apps to work. We can't post the APKs, as they wont work.
Today's app is PicSay Pro. I have to say I've been very surprised by the quality apps Amazon has been giving away on app of the day. If the idea is to get users to look at their market every day, it's definitely working on me.

1. Since it's no longer free, it's now warez, and that's bad in XDA.
2. It's really a crappy game, you just run up the field and dodge increasing amounts of defenders to score touchdowns. While this seems fun, the controls are far from it. You steer your player like a car using the accelerometers, and not with a dpad. You run by rubbing up and down on a line on the side of the screen. Doing both of these at the same time _does not work_.
I grabbed it, tried it, and deleted it. If there was a way to gift games, I would give it to you.

yeah, AND you have to enable one click purchasing on Amazon too. it's a way for them to get accidental sales.
Not to bad
The free apps haven't been to bad so far that I've seen.
Starting with Angry Birds Rio.
I've gotten Fruit Ninja, Flight Control and Talking Tom, and as someone mentions today's Picsay Pro which is fun.
Airport mania was free Yesterday also, that was a good pickup. I agree, we can't post them that'd be out of line. But you have to pay attention from now on.

I for one like the 1 click purchasing. The last thing i want to do on my phone is go through a whole checkout process for a 99 cent app.
They do the same for Kindle books... this is nothing new.
I like the Amazon app store. I like to take advantage of the free apps that they have each day. anyone know how much longer that will go on?

I don't think they really care about the occasional accidental $0.99 sale. They're doing it to get you used to and comfortable with the idea of going to Amazon to get apps, and they want to make sure that if/when you do reach that point and start to actually buy apps from them, that it is trivially easy for you. You're more likely to do all the work of entering and setting everything up when you're getting something for free. If you had to set everything up and go through all the checkout nonsense for a single $0.99 app, you'd probably just say screw it and buy through the regular google android market.
I think it's a decent idea. They give away free music using the same theory, but I think the free apps they've been giving away are much, much better than the free songs you can get from them.

+1. I just got this today and it really handles my calendars better than anything else I've tried.
And I have to admit that the Amazon appstore is really growing on me. If I have multiple devices, will they all have access to the apps I've gotten through the appstore?

Amazon wants this appstore to be like the kindle. they want this appstore on as many devices as possible. it would make much sense if your apps were tied to only device.
I think their app store is great. I didn't understand the peple that post in other thread they would not use the amazon app store because they didn't want to fragment the android app market? The way I look at they give me a free app and if I. Buy a paid app I buy it from them as thanks for for the free apps to support them. I just think that's fair.

While this is true, there are certain apps on the Market you can download to sync android devices with itunes. It worked for my Galaxy S when I had it, it might also work with the fire.

You can also sync itunes with the Amazon Cloud drive (up to 5GB free) and have it available all the time (when you have a wifi connection or easily choose what to store locally from the cloud)

free kindle ebooks list

I found this while trying to find some free ebooks from amazon. If you installed a custom rom their are still a lot of free ebooks without prime that you can get on your fire using the kindle app.
http://www.amazon.com/Best-Sellers-Kindle-Store/zgbs/digital-text/
I don't understand what the point of this was the link you put just goes to the Amazon bestseller list which is available on any kindle. The title is slightly misleading you just say it's the Amazon bestseller list for free books.

fire OS 5.9.7

(UPDATE I was wrong there's no update lesson for everyone is to triple check before you post and don't trust Google search!! I guess the thread is a place holder for now )
It looks like theres a new update available
Here's what Amazon tells us about the update
"Here’s what’s new:
Return borrowed books: You can now return books from within your library by long pressing on a borrowed book and selecting return. Performance improvements and other general enhancements."
But what other things did they patch?
Deleted
We've no way of knowing what they did until someone installs the update. But if you are root, you can launch the DeviceSoftwareOTA app if you're brave and look how fast it fills up with "updates". Just have to make sure to keep a shell open so you can constantly delete the app's data while you watch. I've never owned other devices that had to have so many apps constantly accessing the internet and sending/receiving who knows what kind of data.

That could be the case, assuming they are even aware of it yet. It took them abut 3 or 4 months when I posted here about the first round a year or so ago...maybe more. It will come a point when they can only disable and replace so many commands before ADB stops working.
