After searching for over an hour these voluminous threads here, unable to find answer, though probably the needle in the haystack. Apologies for repeat question.
I want to know how to go from a rooted honeycomb rom 3.2 to rooted ics rom, not sure which one.
On my phone, I just load the rom, but I have read here this method cannot be used. I currently have recovery twrp 2.1.3 installed.

Hello.
I've rooted my phone a while back and currently have Recovery 3.0.2.4. Everytime I try to install a new ROM, i go into a boot-loop and I have to reload my Froyo based ROM.
I've just read that Gingerbread came out on the MT4G and I was wondering if its worth un-rooting my phone (if thats possible), to get this update. I'm not making much use of ROMs because I always get bootloops. This is probably due to the fact that I never have a version that works on both Froyo and Gingerbread based ROMs as I don't know where to find one.
If you guys were in my situation, what would you do?

The newest 3.x.x.x Recovery image will handle both 2.2 and 2.3 ROMs. Are you verifying the MD5SUM of the download prior to flashing them?
I don't know exactly how to do that. I don't see Md5 sums on ROM manager, where I'm attempting to download the C7 Mod.
Hy
It's been a long time since I updated my rom or checked this subforum so it seems that I've missed a few things. Can anyone tell me if it's possible to have Clockwork Recovery on the new ICS bootloader and how to push it there.
I've read some topics but I can't find anything useful or I'm missing something.
Check the dev section. There are some guides there.
Hello,
My GF just got herself an A200, but she experiences it is a bit on the slow side at times, so I wanted to install a custom rom on it.
Been doing that before on a few phones and my Galaxy Tab 10.1, but after digging in this forum and over at the Acer Tablet Forum I am still not sure if it is all that easy on this tablet.
Sooooo, I was wondering if the coming steps are what it takes to install what I had in mind and if that actually works.
The SimpleRoot topic on the Acer Tablet Forum gave me enough info (assuming it works) on how to get root and install CWM.
Now I wanted to flash (after making a Nandroid back up) the latest CM9 Rom with Obsidian's CM9-Onyx-OC-1.5ghz-v1 kernel.
I have no doubt that somewhere, on either this forum, or on the Acer Tablet Forum there is a guide on how to flash these, but after searching for hours, I still am not sure if I know it correct...
Can I just flash the latest CM9 rom, followed by the kernel, in CWM, from an external sd-card, or are there any steps I need to do before/after that?
This is how it seems to be done considering how it went on my galaxy tab, but I am not confident that it is that simple on the A200..
Thanks in advance!
Hello XDA Users, I have a very basic question regarding my ACER A500 upgrade. So far, I have tried every single avenue to upgrade my tablet to ICS but nothing worked. I am not sure, is this because of current HC ROM with ICS unlocked bootloader, but every time I flash any ICS ROM, I am stuck at booting primary kernel message from (V8 unlocked ICS bootloader) or ACER boot logo. But if I flash HC full ROM (3.1/3.2), everything works just fine. Some may say this is a repeat post, but I didn't get any answers from my earlier question, so decided to rephrase the question in simple manner.
At one point, I had ICS ROM successfully running on tablet with V8 bootloader but one fine day it decided not to boot up at all. And I have to go back to basic using TDV4.
Now I am on HC Rooted ROM with Thor CWM based recovery and V8 bootloader. If you need any further details to get me on ICS, please let me know.
Thanks
Hello.
First I'd like to say that i haven't ever tried anything like rooting my phone or custom roms so that you know what you're dealing with
Lately I've been bored with my s8 plus(SM-G955F). Was even considering buying a different phone but then i remembered reading about rooting and custom roms so i thought i might give it a try.
I've been reading a bit about rooting and roms but all the information and methods can be a little overwhelming for someone like me who doesn't really know what he's doing. Basically i need help.
While looking for custom rom i'd like to try i settled on renovate ice and i have some questions.
Do i need to root before flashing a custom rom or does the rom come rooted already?
From what i understand i have to start with installing TWRP with odin but what then? root or rom?
Basically if anyone would be kind enough to provide some links with steps i need to take to install that rom and root my device and not mess it up i'd be grateful.
In case you need it I'm on the latest OTA i've received.

Hello there , you do not need to root your to flash a custom rom . All you need is to backup your data for you own safety and flash TWRP recovery through Odin probram . Renovate ice is most famous and stable rom you can try . It has same UI as the stock rom . Little changes only you might wont see me . If you want to change UI you should for another rom . Also root comes with the rom inbuild, specificaly renovate ice has two options to chose, magisk or supersu . Personally i prefer Magisk before through this app ' you can' modify your system, its like xposed framework.

So I installed TWRP like in the video.
Everything seemed to work i had a clean install of stock ore with twrp. When i tried to boot into twrp i had the "only official binaries" bootloop. So i flashed a bootloader and i was stuck on galaxy s8+ screen. Went into download mode to flash stock firmware but can't do anything. Stuck in download mode and can't flash anything now... How do i get out of it?
Edit:
Ok. Found a way to flash the bootloader. now I'm back to "only official binaries" bootloop.
Edit 2:
Ok managed to get everything to work. At least it appears so for now.
Had to flash nougat firmware then installed twrp, rom and root and it worked.
I thought something went wrong because it was very laggy but after rebooting it seems okay. We'll see how it goes from here.
Gonna google it and try to fix it but if anyone has any ideas i'd be grateful
