So I turned off my phone for the night, just to wake up in the morning, turn it back on and it hung on bootscreen. The phone restarted perfectly a few times but for some reason I keep having problems with this ROM. I'm using the compiled Clockwordmod recovery v.3.1.0.1 but I cant get this to work perfectly for a week without problems. Anything I can do to fix it? (Had to restore a previous backup.)
you need to have S OFF to use this kind of rom.
also make sure you do a full wipe including the battery stats
My phone is s-off but thanks for telling me the tip.

Randomly wiping battery stats probably isn't a good idea...
OP, really not sure what the issue could be. I'm not very familiar with the ROM and don't know of any known issues.
i have this on my g2 and I have no problems. have you tried reflashing?
This has been happening to me occasionally but mostly when trying to boot into recovery post CWM update.

Nah, just gave up on it and moved to CM7 nightly.
For anyone using clockworkmod recoveries, the amazing people behind CWM have brought our device up to speed with their latest official release of 6.0.2.5
You can grab the recoveries (normal or touch) here:
clockworkmod recoveries
P.S. you need an unlocked bootloader,
go here for info on how to flash recoveries:

Here is the flasable zips.

So, this works like flashing ROMs? Just flashing the zip from recovery?

Eager to know the same, as in the benefits of upgrading to the latest. I tried googling it but did not get very far
I haven't tested the usb mount setting .. But i see some differences..like adb sideload and the missing battery stats wipe. ... Where is it ?

There's no need to wipe your battery stats. It's more a Myth than an improvement.
Not wipe battery stats anymore ?
i liked it not same old time there is 2 mode for backup one is tar that what i love to use always the other is dupe mode. defeult is tar so it's enough for me.

No, it's useless. Batterystats.bin file gets recreated everytime you fully charge your phone or something like that

Indeed.,you can only use volume rocker for non touch version.

You mean you can't mount USB storage in this version of cwm recovery? Is it a bug?

I hear this all the time, and it's just not true. I was getting horrible battery life for about 3-4 weeks. The other day I reverted back to cwm 6010 so I could wipe my battery stats....then I reflashed cwm 6019. since then, my battery life has increased from about 6 hours in standby to about 18...and I haven't installed or removed any apps, changed any settings in any apps, made any kernel changes or anything. I've literally left my phone alone completely, with the exception of voice calls and text messaging...but only communication...no settings. The only variable was the wipe battery stats option.
I don't know what it does or why it works for me, it just does. I remember the android employee's statement about how the battery stats option was useless, etc...I've seen the studies and read the discussions. I just see different evidence, pointing to a different conclusion in my own personal experience
Hi guys,
I tried to update my Nexus 4 to 4.4 when Google pushed the update out for it yesterday, I forgot I had unlocked the phone (I don't have any custom ROMs on it, just SuperSU.)
Every time I try and power it on, the loading screen is endless, although I can hold power and volume down to enter recovery mode, nothing seems to be working.
I am a bit of a novice so any help or suggestions would be really appreciated!
Thanks.
The first few pages of the forum is littered with posts like this, i was in the same situation.
What i did was download the 4.3 rom from google, and flash /boot and /system onto the phone. I suspect the 4.4 rom would also work.
This got the phone booting without harming (most of) my data, but much of the UI was mangled and didnt work properly. I tried to backup my images over USB but it didnt work, you might have a better result. I also wanted to backup my SMS but they had all vanished.
I rebooted the phone to recovery (TWRP) and used adb to backup the sdcard (adb pull /sdcard sdcard) then did a full flash using the 4.4 rom downloaded from google and that got it working again. Then i reflashed the latest version of TWRP recovery and SuperSU.
Hope that helps.
That's really helpful, thanks! Is there ANY chance of a step-by-step? I'm a complete 'noob' probably a mistake to root in the first place :crying:
If you're busy don't worry, just don't want to **** things up more than I have haha.
Thanks, appreciate it.

Cheers guys, a lot more helpful than the bloke from Google. Will try it in the morning!
This will surely help
If somebody is facing boot loop after kitkat update on nexus 4 and no data backup can try to go to safe mode and backup their data. To goto safe mode on boot screen just keep pressing up and down volume button for some time phone will get into safe mode and can be backed up.
Hi,
It also happened to me, dont know if it is related to having ROOT or not, but i had to manually flash factory image (4.4) and it worked. I flashed everything except userimage.img but on first boot it took like 15 minutes to reboot and then all my personal data (photo, music...) was gone....
So just be cautious before upgrading!

Yeah that is pretty much what I did to fix mine except that I did not flash the userdata (step 10 in chapter D) so that I would't loose my data.

I had sideloaded a rom in recovery so that it will replace the lost system.img on my phone. Then, it booted up and I flashed back factory images the usual way. Everything is running smoothly again.

Installing the driver. Refer to this thread http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1992345
Boot to bootloader and connect to your PC, usually Windows will find the driver automatically

Most of the time, it's a kernel issue. So flash this kernel here in your recovery, should work fine: http://forum.xda-developers.com/attachment.php?attachmentid=2915551&d=1409232919
Wipe cache and dalvik cache after install the kernel.

This is normal behavior not a problem, you need to disconnect from charger and why you want this feature?

Sometimes i need to charge my mobile faster.. so i need to switch it off.. at that time i am helpless.. Yesterday i installed stock rom > rooted > installed Philz recovery.. Till this step i was able to switch it off while charging.. but once i installed Custom Roms (Arrow, Prism barebone), the problem recurred.. Why it happens whenever i install custom roms? Any ideas..
Thanks..
This is old technique or charging to switch off mobile, galaxy s4 has 2A charger option. It will charge in less then 2hrs completely, check with galaxy charginh current app. If you really want to switch off, then remove cable while switching off and then plug again hope this helps
Hi all
I have been trying to flash a stock ROM to an S5 using Odin v3.13.1. The model is an SM-G900X (a Pc World demo, effectively an SM-G900F) which had a demo system installed. I have never had a problem flashing these type of devices before. I attach screenshots of Odin and the phone. Currently installed is the latest TWRP (3.2.2.0-ktle) and a custom ROM ([8.1.0] [OFFICIAL] crDroid v4.3 [KLTE+VARIANTS] [OTA]) but I want to go to stock.
I have tried:
- different PCs/laptops/OSs
- different cables (genuine Samsung)
- different version Odin/USB drivers including latest
- uninstalling stuff/reinstalling/offline/USB devices unplugged
- different stock ROMs G900FXXU1CRA2 & G900FXXS1CQD3
- I'm definitely in Download Mode
Has anyone got any other ideas? I have searched and searched but can't find anything new or obvious.
Thank you
It appears the uploaded Odin image won't load, so I've uploaded it again.

Make in TWRP an EFS Backup to your external SD and then wipe System, Data, Chache, Dalvik and internal storage. After that try to flash again
EDIT: Are you sure that your bootloader is unlocked? If not unlock it

I tried to use Heimdall. I installed MS Visual C++. However, I tried to install the appropriate driver in download mode using zadig.exe the device was not there. I was only given 2 options (I am not at my PC but the options were MSM.... and USB something or other but not Samsung USB Composite Device). Therefore, I couldn't proceed.

OK I think you have to first make the device back to a G900F. That would be the only reason why everything is not working

I guess I'm in a catch 22. That's what I was trying to achieve anyway. I'll have to stick with the custom ROM on it despite the battery life being so poor.
Thanks anyway to everyone who contributed.
