Hi all
I have been trying to flash a stock ROM to an S5 using Odin v3.13.1. The model is an SM-G900X (a Pc World demo, effectively an SM-G900F) which had a demo system installed. I have never had a problem flashing these type of devices before. I attach screenshots of Odin and the phone. Currently installed is the latest TWRP (3.2.2.0-ktle) and a custom ROM ([8.1.0] [OFFICIAL] crDroid v4.3 [KLTE+VARIANTS] [OTA]) but I want to go to stock.
I have tried:
- different PCs/laptops/OSs
- different cables (genuine Samsung)
- different version Odin/USB drivers including latest
- uninstalling stuff/reinstalling/offline/USB devices unplugged
- different stock ROMs G900FXXU1CRA2 & G900FXXS1CQD3
- I'm definitely in Download Mode
Has anyone got any other ideas? I have searched and searched but can't find anything new or obvious.
Thank you
It appears the uploaded Odin image won't load, so I've uploaded it again.
Just a guess: try removing the battery for a few seconds.

I've tried leaving the battery out for 5 minutes. Didn't make any difference. Thanks anyway
Make in TWRP an EFS Backup to your external SD and then wipe System, Data, Chache, Dalvik and internal storage. After that try to flash again
EDIT: Are you sure that your bootloader is unlocked? If not unlock it

The bootloader is unlocked. I have just tried again after wiping the System, Data, Chache, Dalvik and internal storage, without success.

I tried to use Heimdall. I installed MS Visual C++. However, I tried to install the appropriate driver in download mode using zadig.exe the device was not there. I was only given 2 options (I am not at my PC but the options were MSM.... and USB something or other but not Samsung USB Composite Device). Therefore, I couldn't proceed.

OK I think you have to first make the device back to a G900F. That would be the only reason why everything is not working

I guess I'm in a catch 22. That's what I was trying to achieve anyway. I'll have to stick with the custom ROM on it despite the battery life being so poor.
Thanks anyway to everyone who contributed.

There's no need to wipe your battery stats. It's more a Myth than an improvement.
Not wipe battery stats anymore ?
i liked it not same old time there is 2 mode for backup one is tar that what i love to use always the other is dupe mode. defeult is tar so it's enough for me.

I hear this all the time, and it's just not true. I was getting horrible battery life for about 3-4 weeks. The other day I reverted back to cwm 6010 so I could wipe my battery stats....then I reflashed cwm 6019. since then, my battery life has increased from about 6 hours in standby to about 18...and I haven't installed or removed any apps, changed any settings in any apps, made any kernel changes or anything. I've literally left my phone alone completely, with the exception of voice calls and text messaging...but only communication...no settings. The only variable was the wipe battery stats option.
I don't know what it does or why it works for me, it just does. I remember the android employee's statement about how the battery stats option was useless, etc...I've seen the studies and read the discussions. I just see different evidence, pointing to a different conclusion in my own personal experience
Ok, so, I was trying to install a newer version of AOPK Rom for my Nexus 10 when I forgot that if you delete the whole system, it will remove the .zip too, so I did it and now I have nothing on my Nexus. If there is anything I can do to fix this please let me know I've only had this since christmas

Well it's pretty much a requirement when flashing AOSP-based firmwares like AOKP, Cyanogenmod, etc. Otherwise, you have little functionality as the Play Store and other crucial Google proprietary apps are not included with the firmware itself.
Follow the directions listed in the thread:
MAKE A NANDROID
wipe data/factory reset in recovery
flash ROM
[*]flash Gapps
reboot

I can't find this anywhere. Every guide seems to assume that everyone has a micro SD in their phone. Currently, I don't have one. I'm wondering if an S7 Edge root is possible without an SD card.

I have tried the CF-Auto-Root method twice now, both resulting in being stuck on boot like the other times. However, maybe I needed to wait longer? Next time I attempt a root I will leave the phone alone for at least 15 minutes before I call it a failure. Still, the post you linked seems to be for older firmware. Would you still recommend the method for Nougat? Thanks for the reply.

I think I've isolated the problem. After using adb sideloader to install magisk and antiroot remover, I'm prompted to reboot. In other guides, there is a further options screen after pressing the reboot button which has a couple checked boxes and a button that says "Do Not Install". I see this screen for maybe a third of a second after selecting Reboot before the device reboots on its own. Just tried this and now I'm stuck on the Samsung boot logo once again.
Note: There are many errors in the adb sideloader log relating to being unable to mount/unmount /data/ and stuff like that that I know are related to having an SD inserted.
Edit: I should also note that I am new to android. Fresh newbee from iOS, but I have been jailbreaking for the past 9 years. Still in over my head I think.

Update: Still stuck on Samsung boot logo after 15+ minutes after successfully loading from usb drive. TWRP still skipped right by the reboot options screen after the install... I have no clue why it's doing that. It's like it's taking the command to reboot after I press the button and processing it while it is going to the next screen. I don't know. Hopefully someone does. It's so close!
EDIT: IT WORKED!!! Had to format and then installing from usb drive worked great! Thank you so much!!
