Two Google accounts??delete from gmail app - Nexus 4 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting
Hi
I have 2 google accounts on my device one is with [email protected] and the other [email protected] first i use for purchases back
ups etc...and the second is just private I keep IT junk free.so when ever I go to the gmail app to check for emails its shows the hotmail.com account too....but i cant sync emails or anything from it so every time I need to switch back to the gmail.com account..Is there any way that i can delete that hotmail.com account from the gmail app, but not from the whole device because i use it for apps and stuff and I purchased lots of app with it.

Can't you just untick the box for sync for that account? Also might check which is the default address.
I did that already it always goes to the gmail app right away...I did a factory reset put my primary google account([email protected]) and when i go to the gmail app its there,and i cant delete it because its not setup and i cant set it up in gmail because its hotmail adress.if i delete it from the accounts in settings then its gone in the gmail app.But I need that account for my paid apps back ups and other stuff.very annoying...but that started to happen yesterday before that i just had my gmail adress in the gmail app.It didnt automatically put my hotmail adress to the gmail app.
Did you try to make the gmail account the primary and the hotmail as the 2nd Google account and unchecked all sync?

Yea tried everything factory reset put the gmail first then tried puting the hotmail first,tried every combination everything is uncheked.as soon as I put the hotmail.com account in my phone it shows up in the gmail app.its sooo frustrating and annoying

use the Email app for your hotmail account and GMail for your gmail account
When you open Gmail, does the heading next to the gmail icon say Inbox and show one of the accounts or does it say All mail? I think All mail only shows the first or primary gmail account. Try changing the drop-down; it's a filter.
Here are some screenshots...I just want that the hotmail.com account doesnt show up in the gmail app like it used to be before,,,,but now when ever I add my hotmail.com account it always shows up in gmail.I just want to delete it from there but not from my device because I need it for other stuff.
I have 4 gmail accounts, what I do is that I forward all the incoming mails to my primary, so I only have 1 gmail account on my phone but I receive from 3. I'm pretty sure there's an option to do this from your hotmail account. Google a bit!

Thx, I Know that I can forward my email from hotmail to gmail thats no problem....but that hotmail.com account is my primary account I purchased lots of app with it and other stuff so I need it on my device....but I want to delete it from the gmail app thats all.I dont know if that is possible...
Try this setup.... use your Gmail as primary and you add your hotmail as your 2nd gmail account. Also, setup your hotmail in the email (see image) app too. set up inbox check frequency in setting to never since you don't care about that email. You can always open the email to update.

Thx,I did that everything already... even did a factory reset and then tried to add gmail as the primary...but doesnt matter as soon as i put that hotmail.com account in it shows up in the gmail app..rrrrrr and I have the email app setup with my hotmail.com account and it works fine.
PS: This started to happen when i tried to add my hotmail.com to my gmail account (Check mail from other accounts using POP3)
But I didnt like it so I just reset everything to default...did a factory reset on the device but after that the hotmail.com account always shows up in the gmail app

HTC Mail and Gmail
So I've noticed that both HTC Mail and Gmail are running. Are they both trying to get the same email, or is the HTC Mail app using the Gmail app?

Click to collapse No. I have 3 emails. When I needed to set up the Aria, I used my normal gmail account. That is the one that the gmail icon uses. I also have another gmail account as well as a Hotmail account. I used those two acounts as additional email accounts on the phone. Those are the accounts that the HTC Mail icon uses. Really, it just means that I now have to have an extra icon on my homescreen..lol
I would imagine they are both independently trying to check your email, assuming you set up HTC mail with your gmail account.

You can set up all of your mail accounts to either app. If you decide to use HTC mail in the phone's account settings stop email sync. Sent from my HTC Liberty using XDA App
Offline Gmail
Had my Iconia for 2 weeks now, and finding new uses for it all the time. It is a wifi only version, and I have a job that has me outdoors, and away from wifi for most of the day. I want to cache all of my gmail messages (including attachments) so that I can view and use them offline. Is there a setting for this, or is there an app? Running Honeycomb. Thanks.
I look for this also. - another solution is tether your phone with your tablet, and you will access online via phone... backup plan but still usefull sometimes.
You just need to setup gmail in the regular email app. Go to settings, accounts and sync, add account. Use the exchange (corporate) account type. User name is your full gmail email address. Server is m.google.com It works.

^Not sure. GMAIL gets setup in the native app due to setting up your google account (for market, etc.). Not sure if you can remove it from the GMAIL app. Only drawback is double notifications for emails coming in to your gmail address. I suppose you could turn off notifications for the gmail app if it bothers you.

If you apply an "offline" label in gmail, then you can go into the gmail app and under label options, tell it to sync all of the "offline" label, rather than the default (4 days). If you do actually need all of them, then I guess you could just apply the "offline" label to everything...
Thanks for all the help. Still having some problems. When I set up the new account to sync in the regulat email app, it wants to set it up as imap, not as an exchange account type. Maybe I am doing this incorrectly? I only need to sync one folder, and I figured out how to get the GMail program to sync all those messages, but each one has an attachment which is what I really need, and the attachments do not sync. Getting close, but not quite what I need yet.
That's odd. The attachments sync fine for me for synced messages in the gmail app?

It seems now that the GMail app set to sync all mail (not just 4 days) is syncing the attachments for offline use. I am happy!! Thanks for the help everyone.
Use gmail account for everything bar email
Hi folks, Hopefully will have my nexus 7 soon - am i right in assuming i can activate it using the same gmail address i have on my phone? If so.. i dont really want my emails coming to the 7 as the tablet is probably going to be for family use.. can you just delete the gmail or or remove the email account or something? I suppose I could always just set up a new gmail address and use that. Thanks, Michael

You can tell it not to sync gmail under "accounts and sync" in settings.

Gmail doesn't appear to be linked.
When I receive an e-mail on my Nexus and delete it the same e-mail isn't deleted from Gmail when I access it through my desktop, it also comes up as unread even though i have read and deleted it through the Gmail app on my Nexus.
What mail app are you using? Gmail ? The Stock Mail Client? Both have sync settings in them.

Click to collapse Using the stock Gmail app. I've checked in the settings and it is all set to sync so not sure what's going on. When using the other stock e-mail app for my other e-mail accounts they sync fine.
That happens to me in k9 on my phone. I like Gmail better on my n7. Make sure you look in settings under your account and check that manage labels is set to sync the number of days you have it set for. And that sync is set for Gmail in general settings.
Mail app no longer spoofing Email address
I use the Mail app as I don't like the layout of the Gmail app. I have my mail accounts set so that my Google mail account should send emails as my main ntlworld(virgin) account. Until recently this all worked fine, but now all my emails are been delivered from my Google mail account. I have not changed any settings so it must either be a change to the gmail servers or the mail app. Strangely using the gmail app the spoofing still works.
