New Bootloader Woes - Galaxy Note 10.1 General

I don't know if anyone else has noticed but the new bootloaders from JB 4.1.2, latest German and Arab Emirates, seems to show System Status as official in download mode when rooted. It is a MAJOR pain in the bum as I have the Allshare cast dongle and it won't work with this status.
Triangleaway will reset the flash count BUT the status stays the same. Even reflashing a stock ICS rom doesn't reset it until the 3rd or 4th time. This may be because of the exynos exploit I used to gain root access. I'm going to try going back to stock, Flashing CWM to gain root then reflashing stock recovery.
Thoughts?
UPDATE - I reflashed stock ICS and then rooted using Zedomix's CWM. I restored a previous backup and reflashed stock recovery. I then flashed Arab Emirates 4.1.2 using mobile ODIN.
No change in status or flash counter. I'm about to try flashing the latest German 4.1.2 to check but I believe that rooting using the exynos exploit may have been the problem with my changed status.
OK, after doing the same thing but with the German rom, I had the exact same result. Using the exynos exploit to gain root seems to be the problem for the newer official roms. If you wish to go to the latest 4.1.2 roms and not have the status changed or flash counter raised then DON'T root using the exynos exploit before upgrading.

I unrooted my device prior to updating. Mind you, I flashed the BRI rom prior to the german rom. My Allshare cast works fine, in fact mine has worked on ALL the roms in a rooted and non rooted state. So all I can sugest is unroot prior to upgrading.

[Q]System Status Custom after Flash Stock+1days

Hi
I previously rooted the phone but then official status kept changing to custom even after using triangleaway app. So i flashed the stock firmware BTU UK MDM and did a factory reset. Official status was all good at this point. However after one day official status became custom status in the android about section. Binary status is still samsung official however in the "download mode" and it also says here system status custom.
Im going to try following this guide here
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2265477
which is probably the same thing i did and see how it goes for the second time. Is there any advice you can give me. I have not rooted it after flashing stock and doing factory reset. I really would like official status to stay.
Thank you. Any help would be appreciated.
Edit: Oh and i also flashed stock germany MEA Firmware(the new one with move to sd card) and then rooting. Then I flashed stock uk version MDM which is what was in it at the beginning.

MK2 & Custom on Boot

The problem is the phone is showing Custom when the phone is turned on. I was on MF3, had rooted via the SD card method. The custom appeared at that point. I did a factory reset and the custom went away and lost root but the superuser app was still showing in the app draw (factory reset did not delete this). I was planning on reloading the MF3 firmware via odin but lent the phone to my daughter while I replaced the screen in her note2. Well of course she got the upgrade message to 4.3 from AT&T, did it and now the unlocked custom is back. Not sure why as it was showing as official, the trip counter was still 0 (never installed a ROM on it) BUT the superuser app was there.
Now on 4.3 I've rooted/unrooted via Kingo, during the unroot it removes superuser but the custom won't go away. I installed Triangle Away while rooted and it still shows 0 on the flash counter. Is there something in this Knox security (not sure how to check this) causing the custom?
Just want to get it back to any stock AT&T firmware so I can sell it. TIA for any help
there are only certain roms you can flash while being on mf3. If you did the mk2 update there is no recovery out yet. Using vroot and kingo are unsafe methods of rooting so puts your device at risk.

Install the Xposed framework from xda. Then, install the Wanam module and look for the Setting under "Security Hacks" that reads "Fake system status" and check the box and reboot.
The issue won't truly be resolved until you flash an official ROM, but the Custom screen will be gone at boot.

unroot via kingo, then factory rest...worked for me on 4.3
Do you plan on a warranty exchange?
I love seeing the custom on boot, it lets me know and other everyday normal people know my phone is slightly modified.

Not sure what I'm going to do with the phone yet, probably sell it but not totally sure. Wondering with it now showing Custom on the boot screen and in the OS will it still receive OTA updates? Hoping the AT&T 4.3 or 4.4 image will be available in the future and that might help.

WIFI won´t connect after manual update to Kitkat 4.4.2

Hello everyone, i'm a new member. I apologize if my english is not good enough.
After been driven insane by one pre-installed app from my Operator (Claro Peru) i decided that it was time to root my device to get rid from that pest. I'm a noob, so i started to investigate about the safest methods to not damage my phone. My Device's model is SGH I337m.
The plan was to update the FW from JB 4.3 that came with my phone to 4.4.2 and then proceed to root. I downloaded the Canadian 4.4.2 FW with build version I337MVLUFNC1 and installed manually with Odin. After the phone rebooted, my S4 was upgraded with 4.4.2 but Samsumg keyboard was going insane, so i went to the apps and solved that cleaning the cache/data. Then i noticed that the Wifi wasn't connected, i tried to turn it on, but then a message with a shield appeared saying that my device security stopped the operation. Beliving it was only a problem with KNOX, i installed autoroot (CF-Auto-Root-jfltecan-jfltevl-sghi337m) with Odin, open SuperSU and stopped it from working, but the Wifi still wouldn't connect.
So the first thing that crossed my mind was to unroot and do a factory reset, didn't work. The FW still was 4.4.2, so i´ve been searching solutions with this FW because i've read some cases of devices that stopped working completely after trying to do a downgrade. so i don't want to go to that route for now.
After a couple hours of search, some solutions i found on the forum were:
- Install Faux123 Kernel (Found on Youtube, this would be the thread i think http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2273437http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2273437
- Flash a modem for i337m
- Safestrap recovery and bypasslkm.zip
- Downgrade
I haven't tried any of this methods because i dont want to get into a deeper trouble. In the first solution i'm not sure what to do because this is the files the author recommends for canadian models (i337m), but when i enter here http://faux.romhost.me/jflteatt/jb42/http://faux.romhost.me/jflteatt/jb42/ only jflteatt appears, and that would be i337 model, isn't it? I thought that installing it may cause more troubles, so i didn't do it.
For the flashing modem method, i'm not really sure if installing a modem from another country would get me in trouble, so again i didn't proceed.
I found the Safestrap and recovery method on a downgrade thread for the i337, so again, didn't do it.
So, is there a way to get one of this methods working on i337m to get wifi working again, or is there any other better method to get back wifi.
I would really appreciate any help you can give me guys.

ok so you have the i337m canadian version... making anything related to safestrap and the att i337 irrelevant, completely different methods so don't get them confused lol
you were updating from stock 4.3 right? your best bet is to factiry reset and reflash stock fw for 4.4.2 before you brick your device... kitkat is very different from 4.3, maybe read up on it a bit too...
for ex, the "message with a shield appeared saying that my device security stopped the operation" isn't related to needing to root, it's an option under security settings.
to enable superuser on kitkat you need to enable developer options, then enable superuser. I prefer supersu so manually install that from play store afterwards. I recommend checking and/or enabling this as soon as the phone completes booting up after flashing.
also I think there's a known issue w/ 4.4.2 and wifi not turning on until after 2nd boot completed if I rememebr correctly, been using 4.4.4 for awhile now though so could be wrong...
good luck and check out the help section

Looking for the right stock ROM

Hello all, first post here so please be gentle, I've searched and been at this for the better part of the last 12 hours.
I have a US Cellular Note 3 and I plan on trading it in towards a new phone soon (hopefully tomorrow if I can get everything going.) I've never had a custom ROM, I rooted it with towelroot and have used supersu for superuser access and have been using it like that for the past year and a half. From what I understand in order for everything to go over smooth trading it in I need knox to be at 0x0, and for it to show stock official ROM and official device status. As of right now knox is at 0x0, it shows official ROM, but device status shows custom, also in device status in my settings it shows custom and it won't update. I deleted all of my root apps, did a full unroot with supersu, still says custom. I unmounted my SD card and wiped my partition cache, still says custom.
at this point here's what I'm attempting to do based on a few hours of digging, download and flash a stock ROM (Have Odin ready, phones plugged in, drivers installed, downloading what I hope is a good ROM) re root my phone with towelroot, reinstall supersu, run triangle away, full unroot with supersu again, factory reset.
I can't post my download link due to being a new user, I went to sammobile firmwares and punched in my model number and found a download link.
my device model number (SM-N900R4)
Also my baseband version is N900R4TYUCNAB and I'm running 4.4.2.
Now for my questions: Will flashing a stock ROM trip Knox? How do I know for sure if it's a good stock ROM? Is this the appropriate course of action? In hindsight I probably should have asked that question first.
I really hope somebody can help me out with this, I've rooted every phone I've ever had but I feel pretty over my head at the moment.
UPDATE:::: I'M AN IDIOT!
Updated to lollipop through kies fixed the issue. If google leads anybody here in the future just use kies to update.
In all my years of flashing stock Samsung ROMs, none of them have ever tripped the Knox counter.

[GT-I9506] Need help resetting my device software status

So, a few months ago I decided to root my phone with towelroot to give a try on a few root applications, as i was curious, but after that, I decided to remove through supersu it as, even with supersu, was more of a vunerability since I wasn't really using it.
Fast foward a month, I attempted to update my software and was denied with the reason that my device was custom.
Some important info:
- I'm running Android Jelly Bean 4.3, that has never been updated.
- I've attempted a factory reset through the phones recovery mode and made no difference.
- My KNOX waranty value is 0x0, and I would like to keep it that way if possible.
- Phone is factory unlocked.
Also, I've though of using Odin to flash the firmware back, but then I read that there is a possible that KNOX warranty gets triggered, even with a samsung official rom, is this true or am I safe to use it?
My objective is to have my phone back to factory settings (this means wannan xposed is out of the question), in order to be able to update my phone and keep using it, and while there is a lot of similar threads around, most of them reffer to GT-I9505 and GT-I9500 and mine is GT-I9506, which leaves me in somewhat of a doubt wether I should follow those or not.
Thank you for your time.

Flashing a stock rom trough Odin will NOT trip Knox. So just go ahead and flash the firmware you want.

Alright, I assume the proccess is about the same as on the other versions.
Also, should I flash 4.4.2 instead of 5.0.1? The reason I ask is due to this thread.
Update: I flashed 4.4.2 with Odin3 3.10, and it went smooth and knox is still safe, however, for some reason, so thank you Lennyz1988 for the reassurance .
However, I'm not able to update to 5.0.1 Lolipop through OTA, as attempting to update states that im fully up to date.
My phone is running as NL (T-Mobile), factory unlocked and due to my quick research, seems that there is no official OTA update for it. Is it correct or am I looking in the wrong place to update my phone?
