how fast is GPRS? - Networking

So on att I've always seen G flash but it never has ever worked except with T-Mobile but today while traveling in Tennessee I had G and it worked and was kind of speedy here are screenshots

I would guess that GPRS would have trouble streaming audio for a phone call clearly. In other words, it's very very slow.

Wireless tether

Does anyone else have a problem where wireless tether seems to cause the network connection to become intermittent and sometimes a page won't load?

mines worked perfectly so far, and that's in an area with subpar reception too.
Ive got the latest version of wireless tether for the inc too. I know its not a signal problem, I have a Verizon tower 2 miles from my house and get great 3g reception indoors.

The new versions wifi has problems with me. The version that comes with the 10 minute root video/package, seems to work. I'm having a problem at the moment because I upgraded on accident with a new rom. In the process of trying to fix that.

3g problems

Just out of curiosity I have had my phone rooted for about 3 months and after switching roms the other day all of a sudden I had very weak. 3g service. Wondering if it could be the software from switching roms or just the phone. Stupid question I know bit still wondering. Thanks

Not really sure what your in for. I have my nexus on boost and have no problems and I use google voice for my main number...i wish you luck.
Good luck, I feared that your problem would of effected me since i barely get 1 bar in my house but luckily, I've had no call problems and actually have quite good call quality but not so much 3G speeds. Have you tried a different NS4G?

Calls were fine when they got through, half the time I would just get vm. But the data was terrible. Inexcusable.

I have no signal issues or data speed problems. I regularly use Netflix over 3g with no buffering or other problems. In fact at work where my EVO had problems staying on 3g my Nexus stays connected and at a stable signal rate. I don't get a lot of calls but when I do they seem to come through fine.
Sorry to hear the you're having issues. Not sure that it's the phone though and not just network problems in your area.

[Q] Wifi Tether stops working when placing a call

I have been using Wifi tethering on my ATT Galaxy S4. Shouldn't I be able to tether and make a phone call at the same time? I tether, then make a call, and I no longer am able to ping through my phone. I can ping the wireless interface on the phone, but nothing else.
Anyone else able to do this? Seems like it should be possible.
I've noticed, for myself being on Rogers Wireless LTE, whenever I receive a call 3G and HSPA take over and LTE shuts off until the phone call it is completed

I think it has to do with voice over LTE or HD voice if i am not wrong.
If they don't have HD voice calling it will drop to HSPA
Well where I'm at, I don't think LTE for calls has been implemented yet for any carriers

This is with 4G as well. I tether, internet works fine. I then place a call and no longer can get to the internet.
Is this a limitation of the phone or the ATT network?

No, this is an issue with the phone/software. Tether on a call works fine on the Galaxy S III (it also drops back to 4G from LTE when you make a call, but tethering keeps working)

Will Sprint limit me?

Had anyone suffered consequences for using data to much? Ever since I got my s4 I've been using 4g all the time listening to music from Google music Netflix etc. Last month I did about 10gb it's only been like 5 days on this month cycle and I'm already at 5.5gb so was wondering if I can see consequences or will I be good? Reason I have so much use is that I don't ever turn on my Wi-Fi since I have 4g I just leave it as is...in case you're wondering.

Nope you are fine.
Unless you're roaming a lot, they will not say a thing. I was using far more than that this summer via the hotspot mod wireless tether, and they never bothered me about it.
nope thats the benefit of having sprint

Ok thanks guys

Like the above posters said you should be ok. I do know someone that was booted from sprint entirely for too much data used while roaming, lol. They get a little upset about that for sure.
