I'm trying to flash to DamageControl. I've tried both 1.0 and 1.1v5 Beta. The same thing happens in both.
Basically, when I flash the update.zip my phone loads up then gets 2 force closes that cycle over each other. Rosie/sense never loads and I never see the desktop. I can hold the power button and shut down, though. Here are the 2 apps that keep FC'ing.
com.android
com.htc.launcher
I tried the UID fix in recovery and reformated my SD, deleted Ext, and tried the EXT fix in Recovery. I also deleted the cache via Fresh Kitchen. Still getting the same problem.
I'm flashing from a clean Hero. Basically, I made a nandroid back up of my hero before I touched anything on it. The only thing different from stock spring is that it was rooted.
Am I doing something wrong? Do I need to update from a different ROM?
Thanks in advance.

If you read my post I said I used Fresh's Kitchen Tools to clear the cache.

yea man well instead of being cocky just channel that energy into the search bar cause you got alotta work to do if you cant flash a rom properly
Maybe you just got a bad download. Try redownloading the rom. Also, boot into recovery by turning your phone off, then hold home key + power til you get a black screen with green writing. Scroll down to wipe and then wipe each option in the next screen and try flashing again.

Working on that now. Going back to my nandroid stock image first, then wiping everything, then flashing again.

I tried both downloads but I'll re-download. Maybe my luck is that bad.
So I just successfully rooted my Aria, but that's all I've done...I'm kind of overwhelmed here and have no idea what to do. So what's next?
Also, for some reason my phone is saying: "Low on space; Phone storage space is getting low." and it wants me to delete apps i've downloaded. Is there a way to fix this since i rooted?
Just flash a rom and you should get all the blotware out
sent from my HTC Intruder
Yeah flash a custom rom..and also make sure you have apps to SD enabled and have a partion made on SD to save them there..this will delete everything on SD so back it up first. Try flashing cyanogen 6.1.1 ...its awesome!

Alright, you have two choices, the CM 6.1.1 ROM or the FR008 HTC Sense liberated ROM.
CM 6.1.1 is better battery, but doesn't have htc sense. Looks more like stock android.
You can overclock on both.
CM6.1.1 seems to be faster to me.
Go to one of these pages :
Liberated : http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=819715
CM 6.1.1 : http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=819715
Read up on them, and download one of them. Plug your phone into your computer and mount usb storage. Move the .zip to your sd card.
Turn of your phone, and then turn it on by holding the power button and the volume down button. Go to wipe data / factory reset, and do that. Also go to advanced > wipe dalvik cache. Also wipe the cache partition if you want to.
Go to install zip from sd card and find the .zip file.
If you have apps you want to back up, download an app called ASTRO before you start. Once installed, press menu, then select tools, and go to app manager / backup and backup the apps

Disconnect before booting to clockwork.
thanks everybody. the advice here has been very useful. I'm now on Cyanogen 6.1.1. Got everything setup and almost back to the way I had it before. I also solved my phone memory problem by moving all apps to SD and setting app download location to SD as well.
again, thanks all. and I'm still pretty new to this so I'm always open to suggestions.
EDIT: I can't open browser or messaging threads now...i keep having to force close it. Please help!

The flashing instructions are that you do a nandroid backup, wipe data, wipe dalvik cahce, and then flash the rom. Sooooo... Just boot into clockwork and follow the flashing instructions again. Be sure that you wipe data... this really is important.
okay i booted to clockwork, wiped data, and clicked the wipe dalvik cache. didn't nandroid because already did that right after i rooted. when i clicked wipe dalvik cache, it didn't seem do do anything...no graphical response like with the factory reset. then i installed the zip files for cyanogen mod and google apps. booted up and restored all my apps. browser still doesnt work and i haven't tested the text message thread view because i have no messages...
i got the roms from the big thread of roms on this site...
please help...
UPDATE: The messaging app works fine for now. The defualt browser still doesn't work right. It says "The application Browser (process com.android.browser) has stopped unexpectedly. Please try again." I just downloaded Skyfire, so it's not too big of a deal. As far as I can tell everything is working fine, but I'd still like to figure out what the problem is.
EDIT: It's now doing the same thing with with Google Framework, and doesn't remember my contacts or call log that i put in JUST this morning. And messaging is just like it was before. This was after I turned the phone off and rebooted later.
Sounds like you did everything right...try deleteding that file from SD and redownloading it..flash straight from SD ...make sure you follow all above steps again and make sure your not plugged in to USB ...other than that I see no reason browser wouldn't work...

I guess you already know steps but just you to be sure;
- Re download zip
- place it in your SD card with usb
- unplug usb cable and boot into recovery
- wipe data
- wipe dalvik cache
- flash rom (be sure that you still unplugged usb cable)
- boot
P.S: Or just try another rom to see if its working fine?

Hi what ROM do you use? I am using coredroid 8 but waiting for 7.6..
Need to know how to do a clean install. Radio is flashed fine.
Can you please copy and paste instructions here thank you.

Did you factory reset/reset data, and system? Wiping your SD card won't get rid of apps.
1. format system
2. format data
3. format cache
4. wipe dalvik cache
5. wipe cache partition
6. wipe data/factory reset
7. DON'T REBOOT flash rom
8. reboot and wait (first boot may take long)
If you do it like this you will have a 100% clean system. After setup your Gmail account all your apps should get restored by Android Market (may take a couple of minutes). If you don't want your apps to be restored open the market go to "my apps" and cancel the download.

Erm, can I format my SD card or will that mess up my rooting, clock work recovery and ROM manager etc?

Sure you can but make a backup of your card before you do it. Maybe you need your fotos, music aso.
There is no problem with root or recovery because its on the phone not on the card.

I used Titanium Backup to uninstall certain packages (not before backing them up, of course) and it seems that I uninstalled too much... Whenever I start certain applications, the phone immediately blanks - and locks.
I have to press the power button 1-2 times before the screen unlock allows me to seep my finger. And it doesn't always succeed in retaining the screen: too often, it will immediately blank and lock again.
Example of applications that make the phone lock: Titanium Backup.
Example of applications that don't blank the phone: Dialer.
I started restoring some of the packages I uninstalled yesterday with the hope that this will fix the problem. So far I tried restoring:
- hiddenmenus
- sns
- Dialer 2.2.2
-setup wizard
- syncMLsvc
But without much success yet.
Any idea which service or package are responsible for correct behavior of the phone?
UPDATE 2: I gave up and decided to flash the EC07-Nuckin-1 ROM. I repeated the entire procedure detailed here and the phone boots fine, but the problem persists - in addition to the fact that the soft menu buttons now disappeared (replaced by faint color dots - LED-like).
How could this happen? Is it possible that my phone contracted an Android virus? (it appears that the problem started immediately after installing Stay Awake from the Android Market.
OK, this is becoming insane: I did a factory reset, re-installed ec07-clean, and not only the problem persists, the settings, home, back and search buttons no longer work!
Not to mention that my account details (and everything else) are still there, even after the factory reset...
And Market won't even start.
How is this possible?
What do I do to simply start from scratch, wiping out everything and all history (except for the SD card)?

I'm not really interested in 2.1. I just don't understand why a total re-install of ec07clean.zip + ec07.tar + update.zip won't restore everything to "brand new condition". Surely there is a way to tell the phone to "forget all history". But what is it?
In the meanwhile, I managed to make the Settings (leftmost) button work, by manually restoring SDM from Titanium Backup.
Android Market now starts. But the SCREEN OFF problem persists. I am now beginning to believe that Stay Awake actually caused a permanent damage.

I understand that they aren't 100% and I am OK with that. All I want is bring the phone to that pristine state it was right after I upgraded it from DL17 to ec07clean.zip.

I tried this at least 4 times. It doesn't get rid of anything. That's really puzzling.
In the meanwhile, I managed to restore my phone to a usable state (i.e. get rid of the original screen-off problem). Here is how I did it:
Settings > Display Settings > Power saving mode: UNCHECK (was checked)
Settings > Display Settings > Screen timeout: 1 minute (non was selected!)
I bet this was some remanent of that Stay Awake app.
Now, I lost quite a few productivity hours due to this. But at least now I know that this phone will always be mine, because in this particular phone, "Factory data reset" simply doesn't work.
Have you thought about using a different version of clockwork for flashing and wiping? That usually helps or perhaps stock recovery even

Hi all
I have a Wildfire that had Cm7, was rooted and s-offed. As Im selling the phone i thought it would be a good idea if I reset to factory, ready to be sold. However it has now given me a problem.
I reset to factory by clearing the storage on the hboot screen, and now when i turn on the phone it stays on the boot animation. I can get top the hboot menu, but im now stuck.
Any ideas?
Cheers
Have you tried reinstalling CM7/Sense ROM?
No,
Are the steps the same as a normal install?
Yes.

I thought when i was doing it, it would just delete all the apps and stuff, so it would be a brand new phone but with cm7 installed.
Ill try and reinstall cm7 and see what happens..........
Right, update
I've followed this http://wiki.cyanogenmod.com/index.php?title=HTC_Wildfire:_Full_Update_Guide#Method_via_Recovery and on step 5, i've selected - Select the option to Wipe data/factory reset.
and now teh screen hasnt moved for about 10 minutes, its on the screen where there is a top hat and yellow arrow...........
help.....
press the power button again then use the trackball. to select everything in cwm.
Also I'm not 100% as I've never cleared storage from hboot but doesn't that wipe your SD card?
if so you may have wiped some files needed by the phone so you may need to reinstall Cm7 or whichever rom, not just factory reset.

pretty sure you need gapps for setup to work
Recommended Solution (by me):
(suppose u want "clear setup" of CM7 stable)
Prepare your SD
Wipe off everything
Copy setup files
download.cyanogenmod.com/get/stable/gingerbread/update-cm-7.1.0.1-buzz-signed.zip
download.clockworkmod.com/gapps/gapps-gb-20110828-signed.zip
downloads.androidsu.com/superuser/Superuser-3.0.7-efghi-signed.zip
Get out the SIM card
Boot to recovery
Wipe phone storage
In recovery go to mounts and storage
Unmount /cache
Format /cache, /data, /system
Go back, then to the advanced and Reboot Recovery
"Install" OS
Back in recovery go to install zip from sdcard/choose zip from sdcard
First install update-cm-7.1.0.1-buzz-signed.zip
Then gapps-gb-20110828-signed.zip
And finally Superuser-3.0.7-efghi-signed.zip
Go back, and power off
Now u re in state "like from the store", that mean that OS is not really installed, there re just files copied and real installation will run on frist boot
Unfortunately, theres a catch
Theres problem with CM7 installation and it can face the problem with GPS
First boot will pop-up "market like" window with all Google apps, my recommendation is to wait, dont install anyting, dont click on anything, just wait, it will disapear... u can safely install them later from the market..
You don't really need the su.zip, since CM7 comes pre-rooted.

That's a good plan, but with 2 drawbacks ... 1 you don't need to flash su. Might break stuff since cm7 is pre rooted. 2 what if something else went wrong and he hasn't booted the phone to check? Then sells, unaware of it being damaged. Buyer comes back angry, ect ect aside from that good tut

sorry but u re wrong.. it cant break anything.. its just update.. in CM7.1.0.1 is SU 3.0.6 u can safely update it to 3.0.7 (i do it every time like that..)
Edit: sure guys... u dont have to do that... u can do it later from market... u will be prompt to do that... lol ....its defenetly better way install app like that from market rather than from recovery...
(both ways works in this case, anyway my logic says me that is better install crucial apps like that from recovery..)

..thats exactly why i mentioned point 7.
he have to decide what will be his next step..
if he decide to boot and try it out he will have to login to wifi, login to google account (to download Maps or GPS status) etc.. etc.. it will NOT be clear any more..
...it really depends on who is the buyer... does he know him ? can they do that together wiht buyers account, etc..
...because i dont know this dependencies i leave it open.......
