I'm in the UK on an unlocked device, from the UK. And I have been on 4.1.2 for donkeys. Without flashing. In fact about 3 weeks ago there was another OTA update. Check you aren't really on a locked firmware.

I would strongly advise against upgrading to 4.1.2 as there is a massive power drain when idle. I have made several tweaks and disabled a lot of apps, and in betterbatterystats there doesn't seem to be anything causing any problems... yet there is a 18% battery drain over 6 hours overnight!!
I'm gunna switch back to 4.1.1

I actually switched to 4.1.2 very soon after I got the phone, so don't remember much from the older version. Is there much battery drain on the 4.1.1 ?
UK Unbranded (BTU) is still on 4.1.1
All the UK carriers have updated the N7100 to 4.1.2 though.
Is all this applicable to the 7105 too - drain on 4.1.2 and carriers updating to it while unbranded not updated? mine says modified now so I dont know if theres an OTA or not.
Might wait for 4.2 anyway by the sound of it, nothing to be gained from 4.1.2, only worse battery.

My main concern is whilst idle.. Not many complaints about when in use, it's just the constant draining when my phone screen is "off"
It is soooo much hassle and effort for me to switch back to 4.1.1...... Is there any big improvements on 4.1.2 that i'll miss?

Just to confirm UK BTU does not have 4.1.2 update yet (see link above and perhaps bookmark it)
Only Vodafone and Three networks have 4.1.2

Unbranded, unlocked GT-7100 - bought from Samsung directly:
Just called Samsung Telephone Support - +44 (0)1932 454358 - polite but as useful as a chocolate teapot....
They said the only version available for the phone was 4.1.1 - I respond with a degree of conviction and anger that was not the case! I was fobbed off by "you should getting update shortly".......
Yes, Samsung - one way to piss your customer off is ignore them. Next time I will seriously think I will opt for a Nexus which can be relied upon to have the latest version of Android available quickly rather than months to wait....

Hmmmm.
I'd rather have an SD card than cutting edge updates!
I seriously can't see myself getting a Nexus phone until they produce a phone with at least 64gb storage, or a MicroSD slot (preferably both).

Too right!!! people get so anal about updates, its not as though the 4.1.1 to 4.1.2 is that huge its even worth worrying about, at the same time I find it odd that carriers do the updates before manufacturers but hey ho!

I live in Brazil, and I'm using the latest 4.1.2 from Chile (dll3, which is always pretty much the same version as the brazilian one), and i have no problems with battery drain at all.
I use my phone a lot for web, Facebook, Twitter, about half an hour to one hour of calls, 10 to 20 sms, a lot of whatsapp messages, and lately at least 2 hours of netflix series every night. Usually never drops to less than 20% when i go plug it.

The battery drain occurs when the phone is left alone for several hours. I don't notice any problems in general use
Note2 a premium device with a premium price...but definitely not a premium support..the main reason this update should have been pushed fast is because of the security hole and the sudden death bug..! Sod the extra features..! They could have at least released a bug fixed version of 4.1.1..??? Another question is why do samsung use the UK as a launch pad for latest phones and yet we are last to get support..????

I upgraded with the RUU a couple of weeks ago, but it's good to see everyone else is finally getting it.
Well after a some testing it seems that the update from vodafone aus also has the poor wifi connectivity bug.
I have also noticed that the dialer seems to be using quite a bit more battery usage than before the update. it seems vodafone have put some of their crap-ware in the dialer package and that is causing the problem.
Hows everyone else's update experience going?

Battery life and the absence of bloatware are two reasons why I switched to CyanogenMod 7. (As well as the extraordinary wait for the update to 2.3.)
If your phone is rooted you can flash a new radio and RIL to get better wifi connectivity (and 3G/HSPA). If you're interested, these are available in the DHD Development forum.
I now get 3-4 days from a single charge. I hope I don't need warranty because it's voided...

HI im just downloading as im typing this Galaxy note unlocked UK Spec i did flash the Car phone WareHouse firmware last month is this ICS??? Any one else tried updating there Note today ???
Doubtful, think ICS will be a full wipe, probably around 500mb.
I went to see if there were any updates for mine on O2 and got really excited when a 2 part Samsung disclaimer came up... Then realised I had to refresh recently and this was the first time I'd done an ota search

It will just be the LC1/LB2 update. An ICS update would be significantly larger than ~100MB.
I just got the update last night and you are correct it is the LC1 update. Just wondering though would the change log be the same for this version as the roms? If not where could we find the change log ? The only real difference I've noticed is the S memo menu now has an option to only detect S pen input and the lock screen has changed slightly. Any other info would be greatly appreciated

Samsung doesn't release changelogs for firmware updates. If i am not mistaken, they released a powerpoint/pdf showing the touchwiz differences from GB to ICS for the galaxy S II.

only other notable (sorry!) change is the option for a "one-handed" portrait keyboard and removal of banding on black images (eg. lockscreen) which previously affected some devices.
Several folks have said that the s-pen accuracy is improved and the lag is decreased too. I think I've noticed that too - while I'm pretty sure the s-pen can now be much more accurately positioned on-screen, the lagginess improvement may be pure placebo (the phone UI is in general slightly more smooth after the update, and the brain does funny things sometimes).
Not they but t was done by sammobile site

no it isnt ics, ics will be a few hundred meg in size, you have the lc1 update
This is mostly just me, after a whole 24 hours of being a Note 10.1 owner (woot, go me) being annoyed that its the 3G owners that have gotten all the update goodies!
Germany got theirs a month ago, UK got theirs today... but only the 8000 models.
In theory this would mean that the 8010/8013 models will get released in Germany first, and then in the UK a month after that...
I really really *really* hope that this is not the case though. For this would be... vexing.
Saying that, I'll probably end up rooting and putting the uk 8000 rom onto my tablet anyway, as I am an impatient soul. But it is the principle of the thing that counts!
I think the reason this whole thing bothered me is this poll I saw the other day - http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1871383
If the 3G model was the most popular, then prioritising that firmware would make sense. It seems as though the WiFi models are by far the most prolific though!
OR.... WiFi users are more likely to answer polls.
Keep wishing hard guys, maybe we will get an update soon. and then hopefully someone will finally do a non-8000 custom rom!!
I have just decided to enjoy what I have for now. 8010 update before Christmas at some time will be fine with me. I dumped an iPad and a transformer 101 for my note and one for my other half. We are pleased.

Only real noticeable drawback is that if you use a USB toggle to connect a wireless keyboard or mouse it will drop signal on the German OTA. Other than that and the OnDemand thing as mentioned earlier it works fine on the 8013.

I'm using "Team Union Rom" 8000 on my 8010 wifi without any problems what's so ever. All you have to do is use SetCPU which comes with the Rom to scaling: on-demand and check set on boot. No os issues, no random reboot all fine.

I'm pretty peev'd about this too. Can't believe that a non-3G device is getting the updates last of all. Surely theres no modem nor carrier testing to worry about so it should have actually been the first to be released?
I REALLY want to use the features of 4.1.1 and am refusing to utilise my Note properly until I get the official update.

DME for Enterprise (Work exchange emails) - That's because the administrator has set it to not allow ROOTED or Jailbroken devices. (I know its because I set it up lol!)
There is a work around but I care not to implement it as it still means turning a security feature off which is not worth it just for my sake!!.
Anyway - Anyone wanting to 'voice their concern' regarding no JB for 8010 users - please post on samsung page here:

I'm also a new owner of this tablet(closing in on 3 weeks). I have a Galaxy Nexus, so I know what it feels like to get updates fast. It's a little troublesome waiting for Samsung to update this device. I told myself that I wouldn't complain since Google probably takes around the same amount of time putting together updates, but they have the luxury of seeming fast by putting them out first. What I don't understand is why Samsung is releasing the JB update for the the 3G version first. This may be due to my ignorance, if so please excuse it, but I thought it would be easier to update the WiFi version especially considering they're pretty much done the development of it.

Samsung make such awesome phones but give us the worst pc software ever, kies makes me scream every time!
See how my battery does today
I reverted to 4.1.1 a few days ago to do a battery test for my usage so will update to 4.1.2 again with this BTU release to test that later and compare like for like.
My impression so far is that 4.1.1 is 20-30% longer-lasting for my usage pattern (I can be a heavy user one day when traveling then ultra-light for the next 3, and 4.1.1 really excels at idle time) but I will report back with screens to the battery info thread on here.
That leaves crappy O2 (O2U) as the last provider to not have released 4.1.2!

Any one tried it? I'm on UK open ROM but I'm with vodafone, would it be worth trying? Might check Vodafone forums see if they have it?

It is really annoying... so, vodafone ones are updating BEFORE unbranded ones???
That brings down some unwritten rules, like that one saying unbranded always update first.

I Got sick of waiting and branched into trying those custom ruins and have settled with sweet Rom by not-i which I'm content with and will stick with for the future.
this is from sammobile.com

Finally managed
I have now manged to upgrade. I am on Vodafone I had some problems and failed to update OTA. After several attempts I managed through KIES, which is now working. It seems to be quite smooth, as far as I can tell it does not have multi-view (I hoped it would).
I am quite happy so far.

Decided to take the plunge with this stock ROM. Been running for 25hrs now, Flashed with battery at 100% and as i type this battery is at 70%. Usage has been 60mins Bluetooth audio, installing all my 43 apps from play store, dozen texts, 10mins of calls, 10mins of internet and email. I expect in 28hrs time it will be given its first charge since flashing.
No lag, no heat, brill battery time, and fast n smooth.
Also , something to note for other users, I'm not on Vodafone, in fact I'm on three(uk), this ROM chose the correct csc for me, i had expected to input my carrier settings myself, this was not the case.

Not really something new and no surprise. Sky tries to protect Sky Go and so it is completely understandable that they will stop it working on rooted devices.
