Sony should release two device at launch! one with stock and one w/ their ui!
Play around with the sony UI for a few days, then..Cyanogenmod is always there.
There's no purpose to this thread so I've closed it. Theme's and custom ROM's will get you what you want as OEM's like their own UI's.
Thanks

I was just wondering if it is possible to port the UX interface to other android devices... I browsed the forum for quite a while, but didn't find an answer to that question.
I've heard that HTC Sense was ported to other phones, so I thought maybe it's possible to realize UX on other devices, too!
If this has been discussed earlier, I apologize for creating an obsolete new thread.
I would really love to see this. Especially timescape & mediascape, but honestly I don't think this is going to happen.
I know that kingklick claimed to have it ported and nearly working on a nexus one, some weeks after the x10 came out, but his rom has never seen its release.
I think, one of the main problems is that rachael is still Android 1.6

i dont belong to this forum... but i bring some happy news
if its repetitive topic.. delete it pls
so hopefully u all guys will have cyanogen , miui soon
good news indeed!
this and freexperia rom and also miui
choices are now coming for the patient common users, good!
from the bottom of my heart, I wish they agree.
CyanogenMod seems like great stuff for phones without 2.3.3. Wonder what will it have to offer that is better than SE stock ROM or stock+rooted?
For my Motorola Defy it was awesome. Yet what SE offers is quite enticing. Without functioning camera and video recording no ROM is worthy having, but I guess it's harder to program into ROM than anything else.
Well, best wishes nonetheless.
Am I missing something We already have CyanogenMod Custom ROM in Development section. Why does CyanogenMod Team have to make another one

It will be a more complete, and supported release.
I believe the current rom is not official.
Feel free to correct me, I never got into the x10 version. It never seemed quite finished to me.

This is not another one. This is the same work, we've been fixing lots of issues (graphics, automating recovery build, etc) for the past weeks with the goal of getting all of FreeXperia work merged into official cm.
This is great news. I hope it gets approved. Hopefully this convinces Sony Ericsson to give their camera drivers to you, so we can have a fully operational CM7 on our Xperia arc.
Great work. Looking forward to trying it on my Neo. Let's just hope SE comes to the table on Camera drivers.
Cyanogen Mod would sense for devices not getting the latest Android version from the producers. As the current Xperia range was 2.3.3, it's rather pointless to have it instead of a thoroughly tested with proper drivers firmware made by the producers.

Many people prefer a stock Android over SE's firmware. Stock 3.0.1 was fine, very little background apps, but 4.0 added some new 'bloat'. It's always nice to have the choice, and it's good to get started on Cyanogen early to make sure it'll stay compatible as we move to Ice Cream Sandwich.
Hi fellow Xplay users!
This is a thread to compare, discuss, what is the best or quite probably the optimum ROM-kernel combo for Xplay
Please, discuss and compare anything related to the edge of custom roms and kernels with each other
Since I have no experience to flash the custom ROMs and kernels(except DooM’s) by our developers here, so to start with..
What are the advantage/disadvantages/pros/cons of
latest official SE firmware + DoomLord’s kernel VS. Cyanogenmod + DooMlord’s kernel for CM7?
For me, im using the latest 2.3.4 R800i firmware + DoomLords kernel, and I’d say its doing great, what are the things CM7(or other rom) has to offer for Xperia play that would make me want to flash it? Just to make it another android phone out there?
Don’t get me wrong Ive used CM7 before, just not on Xplay (on my old Glaxy5) so I know the basic features, and I know its great, but whats in store for the XPlay?
And if somebody is kind enough to answer this question..
I really love the look and feel of Xperia play and the Sony ericcsson home, its gives its own unique flavour being a PS-certified android device, but the tweaks for CM7 is great, and is less on bloatware, now DoomLord powering the kernel for it too makes it perform better.
Can I extract the .apk files of Xperia Play app, Sony ericsson Home, playstation pocket from the latest firmware and install it to CM7? Just like that and it works like magic? A CM7 rom with Xperia Play feel? When I slide down the controller will the Xperia Play app work together with Get games? How about playstation pocket?
Is it possible for a custom ROM development merging the look and feel of Xperia Play to CM7 Rom?
Thanks!
previous roms
Metaphorically this should work. After using an android Rom on the HTC hd2 with the Sony home screen as far as I could see this had seemed to be what they did.
Is there any ICS un official software that's stable and has most the features like camera, calling, texting, 2G/3G, wifi, bluetooth and if possible the new face unlock?
I have rooted my Xperia play and now want to install custom software since sony has now ditched the Play sadly it could do with a few PS games or should i just sell this phone and get a new one with ICS?
There are lots of roms: CM9, AOKPlay, PlayOSP. I wouldn't buy another phone, because of all the ICS-based roms, but if you have enough money, it's up to you.
Honestly
I have yet to use an ICS based custom rom that doesn't decrease performance.
Your best bet is to use one of the many Xperia S builds as they offer the best speed and most of the features you would ever want anyways.
cheers for your posts guys. can you cross phone software like xperia S on xperia play? ill check out the roms you mentioned and install one. do you guys know if that face unlock feature works in them? i dont really want to buy a new phone i just bought the xperia play lol

For ICS I'd wait until the dust settles.
Given the flack Sony are taking on their social networking sites I wouldn't be surprised to see a turn around.
At any case, once the other 2011 Xperia lines are updated to ICS and there's stable running custom ROM's etc, you'll likely see some that are ported for the Play.
Hi everyone,
This is almost certainly a waste of time and effort, but I started a Petition at Change.org with the aim of getting Sony to offer an "alternative" ROM for their Z lineup.
This is the link:
https://www.change.org/p/sony-mobil...ence-and-fast-updates-for-the-xperia-z-lineup
What this is about? I really like the hardware on the new Sony devices, but I'm spoiled by my Nexus/Google Play Edition devices when it comes to Software and Update policies. Since the Nexus 6 is out of the question and there are currently no interesting GPE devices on the market, I thought this is better than not trying at all.
Basically, my idea is, that Sony could offer their users a choice: Go with the regular, Skinned ROM and be happy with it, or download the "alternative" factory images, that convert the device into a Nexus-Like Stock-Android device. That way, there is no need to market and sell two different versions of a device, and users can choose what they prefer. This would also be a "benchmark" for Sony, to see how many people are actually interested in Stock-Android-ROMs.
HTC does this, albeit unofficially, by offering GPE versions of their flagship devices that are exactly identical in hardware. It is possible to simply flash a Sense-Laden m7 or m8 and convert it into a fully working and compatible GPE version. Samsung makes it a bit more difficult by messing around with the GPE hardware in some way that makes a custom Kernel neccessary and prevents a full conversion. It took the devs quite some effort to fix the resulting Random Reboots on the S4...
So, if you like the idea, and want to attempt to generate some attention, I'd be grateful if you'd sign the petition and invite your friends to do the same. If not, then thanks for reading this and have a nice afterlife...
Love your enthusiasm but... No manufacturer offers alternative roms to flash - GPe is only ever an alternative device ~ and I presume you have never "converted" an M8 over to GPe (not for feint of heart, partition changes required prior to flashing any zip, much the same as Xperia Z Ultra GPe).
I think you'll find we are already spoilt more by Sony than any other manufacturer when it comes to offering AOSP and the various git offerings made available to us..

Hi there,
I am aware that nobody does this yet... But maybe it is an idea for the future. About the HTC GPE... You are right, but I'm currently using a "coverted" Galaxy S4, which is also not trivial, but entirely manageable... I'm already wondering what new quirks Samsung will invent to make flashing GPE Lollipop harder on the TW Galaxy S4 i9505... ?
Isn't CM working with Sony Devices or something ?
However, i think it's fine the way it is The Rom currently is appealing to the eye and pacey
I think we should first focus on trying to get root on lb and go from there.

no CM isnt working with them..Sony hired a maintainer/coder that was part of CM for Sony devices. he worked on other projects as well. Thank Jerplea. he is the community member that Sony hired nd he is helping offer source to help build aosp for Sony devices. Sony does a good job offering help to the dev community by giving tips, guides and source on ther developer website
