It would have been easier to use z4root.
Can you get into clockworkmod/ stock recovery?

I'm trying this method http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=18302233&postcount=18 and when I go into fastboot my computer try reinstalling drivers and fails after det i dont find the Phone I'm guessing some things whit drivers are wrong but iI have install drivers from? madaco? som what is wrong?
Yes, as written, a configured SDK Android is needed for this method. It implies drivers installation for fastboot mode.
Are you on Windows 8 ? An unsigned driver could be the problem (Windows 8 doesn't accept them by default), as it often happens with drivers designed for debugging. You should desactivate this protection : http://dhakshinamoorthy.wordpress.com/2012/05/14/installing-an-unsigned-driver-in-windows-8-x64/

Do you have Windows? If so, go to the <sdk folder>\platform-tools & copy adb.exe, AdbWinApi.dll, AdbWinUsbApi.dll, and fastboot.exe to C:\Windows, and flash the stock rom
If you have linux, press ctrl+alt+t and type sudo apt-get install android-tools-adb android-tools-fastboot

I'm on TWRP 2.3.3.0., and my computer is W8 Pro. I've searched but most people seem to be able to get adb working during the bootloader at least, but not for me. I've tried sideloading a zip through the command prompt (and picking the adb sideload option in TWRP) but it tells me that adb is not recognized. I've tried using the Nexus Root Toolkit to restore a backup I have on my computer, but, yeah, no adb. I was wondering if disabling driver signature enforcement was temporary, so I went through the menus and disabled it again on my computer. I've used the cable/port that I rooted it with but I've also used different cables and ports as well. Why isn't this working? Am I bricked?
Have you tried jromflasher for nexus 7? With that tool you can wipe your system, upload ROM, temporary load custom recovery, and flash the ROM.

Error 103. I think my device needs to be booted into an actual ROM.
I thought that maybe the drivers from plugging my phone in were interfering, so I used the Nexus Root Toolkit again, and went through the driver installation for a second time, deleting all the old ADB drivers and such. Well, when I tried to install the RAW drivers, I get "Windows was unable to install your unknown device," and basically it could not find the driver software and to check the company website and so on. Did I just dig myself into a deeper hole? Gah! I wish I could remember which wipe option deleted sdcard so I know to never do it again.
OP is using Win8 - might want to try to do it with a PC or laptop running Win7 or Vista OS and start fresh by loading the drivers and/or use Jromflasher - borrow a friend/neighbor's PC to see if it can be jump started, assumed that s/he cannot get it to boot into Fastboot and/or Recovery as the file systems are likely corrupted. (I have an old/aging laptop running Windows XP SP3 that's set aside for fixing often the impossible)
Otherwise, it might be time for an RMA to get it repaired by Google/Asus and/or exchange - it could cost $$ if they determined that the warranty has been "compromised" ...
You know you won't get adb while in bootloader? You need fastboot.

Thanks. I'll try this later tonight. Would they RMA in this scenario, even though it is my fault? Assuming I can't get it working.
I don't understanding why you would RMA? You can get into twrp right? So you can still flash ROMs and whatnot. Just need to get adb installed on cpu
You can also try "disable driver signature check" on advanced reboot on windows 8.

Well....use fastboot then.
You should have done some reading before you started flashing ROM's. You dont seem to even know what fastboot is.
Have you tried downloading the android sdk from Google and installing their usb driver?
Sent from my Nexus 7 using XDA Premium HD app
Adb works in recovery and in Android OS, only fastboot works in the bootloader. Installing Windows 8 messed it up for me, but I simply grabbed the Nexus 7 driver from ASUS'S website. I suggest you read and learn how to use fastboot.

Hey everyone, thanks in advance for the help. I just got a nexus 4 yesterday, that was already updated to 4.3 when I got it. My problem is when I go to unlock the boot loader, it won't recognize the phone. It says "list of devices attached" but doesn't give a serial number. Also, before this, it was giving a serial number, but was saying it was offline. So I uninstalled and reinstalled the drivers. Any help is most appreciated.

You might need updated adb/fastboot exe/dll's. Grab them from a toolkit, that's what I did.

Try this... When you're connected to the PC , toggle USB debugging off and on.. It might ask for authorisation of ur PC in your phone.. Give yes.. Then do adb devices .. You might fight the offline thing gone

I did that, got it to boot into boot loader through adb, then my fastboot drivers wouldn't install. So I uninstalled everything and started from scratch and now I can't even get the serial number to come up.

Hmm.. doesn't it get shown as Android devices under device manager?
I too had a similar kind of problem with adb. I uninstalled the drivers manually and installed it again using Koush's Universal ADB (Android Debug Bridge) Driver for Windows. It has fastboot thing also. It worked for me.

You can also try someone else's PC or something. Install the drivers using the above link and just fastboot. Sorry, if that is of not much help. I'm new, both to this place and to this Nexus 4 device as well. All the best.
Hi,
Since some ... weeks, maybe months, my Nexus 4 usb don't works. (I found "Airdroid" app to transfer files over my WiFi but... the problem is somewhere else...)
Only the battery charging works with the usb. I can't use MTP transfer file or ADB !!!
I tried to check/uncheck the MTP option, check/uncheck the option for USB debug mode, tried on other computers/systems, with different usb cable... nothing worked.
The problem is that i flashed a 4.4 ROM (with no SuperSU, so no root...), and i don't know why: I lost my cwm recovery... So now, i can't root/flash a new recovery or ROM because i can't use ADB via the fastboot mode too. :crying::crying:
I tried a lot of things, made a lot of searches all over the web, with no success :/ I hope my usb isn't physically dead ? (have to buy this ?)
What can i do ? Any idea ?
I don't want to stay blocked with this ROM/kernel/radio with no root for ever please !
O/S tested: Windows 8 and 8.1 Pro 64bits; Ubuntu 13.10; Mac OS X 10.6;
Android Version installed: 4.4 build aosp_mako-userdebug 4.4 KRT16M
Baseband: PA radio (.84)
Kernel: PA stock for 4.4
=> But the problem is the same with all ROMs
Same here idk what else to do :/

Up :fingers-crossed:
With Windows 8 reboot the system into advance mode and press F7 at the menu to disable driver signature checking, then go to device manager and uninstall any existing ABB driver checking the checkbox to delete the drive files.
Then reinstall it with Universal Naked Driver (link in sig).
For Ubuntu, follow step 1 and 2 from here: http://bernaerts.dyndns.org/linux/74-ubuntu/245-ubuntu-precise-install-android-sdk
If all that failed , http://m.ebay.com/sch/i.html?kw=nexus+4+USB+replacement

Have you tried using Goo manager to automatically install open recovery script? I can't remember if that requires root or not.
What happens when you try to get into download mode from fast boot?

Well... I had to ask for a refund on ebay, i never received my N4 USB REPLACEMENT PORT ... So i won't be able to tell you if it solves the problem. Sorry. If somebody already tried this, please keep us informed. Thanks.
i have a stock nexus 4 bought last year from a relative, when they tried to do an OTA update to (i think 4.4) it restarted and gave an error with the android being open in the middle. After restarting the phone it's been stuck in the "X" bootup screen
i tried to clear cache partition and that didn't work.
i got the android sdk and tried to connect it to the computer. it was recognized as an android bootable device in the device manager, but nothing shows up in the file manager, and when i tried to run the "adb device" command no devices show up.
i guess my question is, is there a way for me to pull the data from the phone first before i do the flashing? i heard that if i get rid of the "-w" in the flash-all.sh/flash-all.bat then it'll prevent the data wipe, is that also true?
thanks for the help!

yeah, i did that and installed the usb driver, but it only shows up in device manager as "other device" and i can't access it. I guess i'll just factory reset and lose all my data haha... next time i'll know to always back up
i ended up unlocking the phone with
>>fastboot oem unlock
then ran the flash-all.bat file(on windows) and flashed it to 4.3 and it works now (no problems for now..)
