Tmobile unlimited prepaid plan change - Nexus 4 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

I just got the tmobile unlimited prepaid plan. I'm tethering off it and I just got this text.
Free T-Mobile Msg: Our $70 Monthly4G plan now includes UNL 4G data. Smartphone Mobile Hotspot is not avail. This will change on your next renewal after 2/20.
What do you think that means?

Seems like it's just an advertisement. That plan used to have a cap. Now it's unlimited

Seems weird that I get sent that ad considering I started my service on that. But from that perspective it does seem like an ad. Thanks!

It means they know you are tethering and will shut it off.

The $70 prepaid plan has changed from 5gb of 4g speeds to unlimited 4g speeds. Assuming you're on the $70 plan, you will have unlimited next month.

Web2Go $10.00

Does the speed on this plan vary from the $30.00 data plan on the S if its the same speed I wouldn't mind saving $20.00 a month
Sent from my Nexus S using XDA App
It's the same speed, except that you're capped to 200 MB/mo. It replaces their previous "dumbphone" data plan
I taught they had unlimited web to go for 10

That's their old dumbphone plan, which is still grandfathered in so people who had that plan in the past can still go over 200 MB
Someone please CMIIW
Unlmited web2go for $10 does not work on the nexus s.
Thanks for your help Jc

You can opt for even more plus plan at corp store if you purchase it in full, which only cost $20 for internet and $10 for messaging.
It's better than nothing.
$10 grandfathered web2go will not work with NS at least it doesn't work on my 3rd number, so I have to rotate it with MT4.

Family talk on T-Mobile s2

I have a galaxy s2 on T-Mobile, I'm looking for a better plan, I need at least 5GB of data. Right now I have the $30 100min and 5GB data plan, I don't want to spend $70 a month for more minutes and 5GB of data, but I do need more minutes as well as the data I have. Is there a simple mobile, or family talk plan that would work fully?

Didn't Tmobile just release some unlimited data plan?
Yeah on September 5th, but I'm on prepaid.

I don't want to start a new thread for this, but the strangest thing happened. I flashed the Jedi mind trick Rom, when I tried I got a T-Mobile free text saying I owe $250... I'm on prepaid and only pay $30... anyone have any idea?

I just found out that my phone is unlocked, I dialed *#simlock#and all said off. So does this open up more options for me? I'd like to keep 4g working
Sent from my SGH-T989 using Tapatalk 2
Well you're on prepaid so don't worry about that message....can't charge you because you paid before....
Simplemobile apparently limits to approximately 2gb give or take a few. Their 3g plan actually gives you "4g". I don't see how they can actually adjust it to limit it to 3g speed only because 4g it's actually 3.5g..
So stick to the $40 plan.
You can also go straight talk. but i forget what the data limit is for that. Look it up.

Good info, just need to get some more info, maybe anyone that has tried it? I thought the old T-Mobile 4g phones where just like 3.5 and hspa+ was 4g?

The 40$ plan has terrible data speeds and sucks if you're using a smartphone. I would NOT recommend it.
ST throttles after (about) 2GB a month or 100MB a day. (technically the AT&T BYOD SIMs seem to be stricter about this than the T-Mobile ones)

I saw yesterday that family talk is actually releasing the s2 at Wal-Mart. But u also heard if you use another phone on family talk they ban you
Sent from my SGH-T989 using Tapatalk 2
Would it be possible to use an at&t prepaid SIM on my phone? It's unlocked so o know it should work, but what kind of days, and what would I need to do?

AT&T capping their data on i9300

for 4 years now I've been on medianet, using international Samsung phones, today I got a message .. guess we can cross unlimited and cheap data off our 'benefits of owning a i9300 on att'
AT&T Free Msg: This is a courtesy reminder that you have used 90% of your 3GB data plan allowance for the bill cycle ending on 10/12/12. Any overage is charged @ $10/1GB. Learn more at www.att.com/dataplans. Tip: Mobile Data is unlimited over Wifi.

If you have been using media net for four years why are you on the 3 GB data plan, instead of the unlimited plan?

That's because we paid a much lower rate of either $10 or $15 for unlimited data.
At&t won't let you keep your current plan if you buy an LTE phone. You must upgrade to an "lte" data plan, which are only offered with 300mb, 3gb, and 5gb limits.
not sure if you guys are understanding what I'm saying. I'm saying, out of nowhere they switched me over and started capping me all on their own

See the thread in my signature, there is already a fix for it that worked for me.

Dang - so do they have the IMEIs for the i9300s?? How'd they switch you over? Unless you're a really heavy user and they just figured that no phone on MediaNET should be consuming that much data as they're all dumb phones right?

T-Mobile tethering gone?

I've been looking for better information on this but all I get is a sea of posts that aren't relevant to tmo's current plans. I paid for unlimited 4g and I used to have tethering with that but now it says I only get 500 megabytes. If someone can point me in the right direction I'd appreciate it.

Well all the new Simple Choice Plans come with 500mbs of tethering. You would need to pay extra to get additional tethering access. All that information is directly from the T-mobile site. Did you switch to the new plans or did they switch you without you knowing?
We switched it. I first had the 2 and a half gig plan and tethered all of it then I upgraded halfway through the month to unlimited and tethered a lot more. When I went back on the site there was a tethering option that wasn't there when we first upgraded to their new plans. And under the 2 and a half gig plan, all of that is tetherable, so I get less tethering with the unlimited plan. Kind of weird.

yea, its 500mb for people with unlimited high speed data plan, and unlimited tether for those with less data. but you can purchase another 4.5gb. they just dont want those people with completely unlimited high speed data to use their data for their permanent home internet.

[Q] Metro PCS BYOD $60 vs T-Mobile $70

Hello there is a Metro PCS Unlimited everything plan for $60 for BYOD GSM device that works with T-Mobile, and T-Mobile had a $70 plan with unlimited everything what is the difference if they both offer unlimited HSPA+ and LTE over T-Mobile. Also why would the Metro plan be $10 cheaper?
Thanks in advance Nico.
