There is not much you can do if you bought a 3rd party battery - seems like the chip in there has no information!
The battery not being recognized is the one that came from the OEM.
Just wondering what could be the possible issues, is it the battery or some setting in the ROM / Firmware that's causing the trouble.
All the other functions on the phone seem to be NORMAL.
Not sure,
an easy way to figure that out: try to put another battery in the WIZ if you have one! Try also to use the 'not showing' battery in another WIZ if somebody has one.
If booth options above are not available:
Back up your device and reflash it with an official shipped ROM. See if you get the battery showing up there! It might be a little bit work but in a long run it is better than having a faulty battery in the device ... !
I bought me a 3rd party long-life battery and have no problems with the status display.
Yes, the official ROM version helps..can see the status now.
But now the question is, what was the problem in the first place??
Cannot be a problem with the battery hardware itself...
must have been the software...what settings to tweak is status is not working??

Good question!
Could have been a couple of problems: a bad flash (sometimes a few files get messed up), a missing file or application!
Just try to reflash the WIZ with the ROM you used before, see if you still get the same problem.
You might wanna PM me the ROM version we are talking about - maybe I am able to re-produce the issue and take a closer look at it.
There are numerous threads about getting better battery life involving different settings, turning on and off stuff manually and battery calibration etc etc but noone that really helped as much as what ive discovered now.
Me and my spouse has the same phone but we dont have the same operator. I have Telia which has the best coverage in this area while she has Telenor which is worse in general coverage making the phone work harder in the net + really bad when it comes to 3G coverage and thus having slow data connection.
Therefore we have very different standby time on our phones and ive tried to tweak it with different kernels, modems and different flashes but nothing that really helped.
So I made a thread to gather some info from various people but it hasnt growed that much yet (http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=989266). 2nd post from "theduckking" showed that he was using an app called "tasker" which cost ~4euro (well worth the money if you have low battery time)
Now ive just started using it but I already have 69hours of standby and 27% left of battery and ive never had that amount of battery standby for a really long time! This is getting close to an old fashioned Nokia 3310 standby
My spouse isnt getting as much obvisually as she has worse coverage which drains more battery but she has gone from barely a day to 2 days standby with 10% battery left ~30hours and this is with the following method.
Note. Both our phones have the same configuration, its only the operator which is the difference
Rom: Darky 9.3 Final
Modem: JPY (its the one coming from the darky 9.3 flash)
Kernel: DamianGTO 1.1 Gold

Now two things that have made the battery last longer is first underclocking it to 800MHz and undervolt -100mV in CWM (this will only make a minor difference albeit noticeble)
And the grand thing that will really up your battery is the app called "TASKER".
Ive only setup two rules and that is to turn off mobile data and wifi when screen is off and turn them back on when screen is on. You can customize it further if you like but im just gonna show how to setup the basics.
After you have downloaded it, fire it up and press "new" and then just press "ok" select "event" and "display off", press "done"
Now press the "+" and "net" then "mobile data", make sure "Off" is selected and then press "Done".
Press "+" again and "net", "Wifi Net" check that it is saying "Disconnect" and press "Done" and press "Done" again to get back to the main menu of "Tasker"
Next rule so press "New" and "ok" again, then "event" and "Display" and select "Display On". Press "Done" and then press the "+" followed by "Net" and "Mobile Data", make sure the checkbox says "On" and press "Done" and you are set. Press home button to apply the settings and you should now have "Tasker" in the top row.
Now this fix will maybe not suit everyone but if you value battery time more than anything then its absolutely for you.
What will happen is that all data traffic will be completely turned off when the phones screen is off and the impact of this is
You wont recieve instant (push) gmail until you unlock your screen
Google talk will not let others see you online/busy when screen is off
If you are making calendar updates from google calendar online, the calendar updates wont appear until you unlock your screen
Probably other stuff that havent crossed my mind

Sorry about the dark image, I raised the contrast and brightness manually afterwards to make it somewhat readable (I forgot to disable the "screen filter" which I enable at nights when reading )
pretty interesting.. will give it a try..
Hardcore made a thread on how to conserve battery life by disabling hsdpa. You can search for it. It has helped me a lot.
I'm using "superpower" from the market and I will install tasker to see if there is new options
If you use Tasker just for Wi-Fi and data turn - off when screen is off you better use (IMHO) SuperPower app. You also better untick auto retrieve option in MMS settings or you will not receive MMS anymore with this settings.
yay I'm famous... or at least useful
I have my connection Tasks attached to this post. you just have to import them and set up rules when to execute them. I have one that starts the OffOnScreenLock task when the screen is locked, one that calls the reconnect task when the screen is unlocked and one that does call reconnect every 45min
View attachment connectionTasks.zip
experiment with it^^
EDIT:
I also set tasker up to enable and disable GPS automatically (when maps or navigation start it enables GPS, on close it disables it again)
It's fun to play around^^

I using Super Power long time too (although i have 3000 mAh battery ), and i have battry life about 4-5 days on normal using, and 2-3 days by heavy using SGS.
I ask, after your testing, if you can make comparision battery life, using Super Power and Tasker, wich is better ?
Thank you in advance
Regards
Same here. Using Super Power some months ago, but now I'm curious about Tasker.
Wonder if it's better thar Super Power. Anyone can confirm that?

I just took a small look at super power. I found nothing you can't do with (except the 2g/3g toggling but I did not try that) tasker. The difference is, that you have to set up your own tasks and functions and rules. you can also create widgets and use variables to alter the way your own task works. If you have some programming skills you will probably love it, otherwise it's lots of potential left unused. (like loops, if/else statements)
You can read up on it over at lifehacker.com
I agree of course. Then again if you are a developer might as well completely roll your own
Tasker is nice if you know how to use it. Doesn't do all the things SuperPower can do, but can do a lot of thing (though less on 2.3, I think ? Not sure).
Gotta decide what's your own cup of tea. Apps like SuperPower (and Juice Defender, and a number of others ones) try to make your life easier, while with apps like Tasker (and the right plugins, of course) you can make your own rules. It's often more difficult than it sounds, though!
Good day to you all,
Recently after a small android update (still having version 4.4.2) I noticed the battery was draining faster than I'm used to. Before that, it was consuming roughly 1% per hour in idle. This has changed now to 3-5% per hour. Looking at the battery info I noticed the Android system was the biggest batterysucker here. Not only that, there are even TWO Android systems shown and I began to think there's something wrong here.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/attachment.php?attachmentid=2908920&stc=1&d=1408796626
Also looking at the wakelocks shows that my phone is barely able to get into sleepmode.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/attachment.php?attachmentid=2908921&stc=1&d=1408796626
Before posting this thread I have literally tried every option to see if it could lessen the battery consumption:
- Disabled Google location reporting services
- Disabled GPS
- Disabled Google sync
- Disable Wifi when in Sleep mode
- I don't use Google Now so it's disabled
- Widen the Facebook refresh intervals to 4 hours
- Wiped the cache partition
None of the above worked and I started to think that the second Android system here might be the cause.
Should there be a second Android system consuming battery? What could be the problem here??

Hi ,
is hard to tell with what you show here...get an app like Better Battery Stats
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1179809
Let it run for 3-4 hours and check it , the app will tell tell you what is going on....is the only way to find the real culprit

Hi mate
This is from the thread :
Q:Why installing BBS as a system app as everything works with root?
A: Starting with Kikat BBS has 3 modes: without root a limited mode provides a minimal set of stats. With root the set of stats is complete but some stats (other, partial wakelocks, processes) still use a workaround. Finally with the system app BBS is fully featured without any workaround.
For this cases root is good to have as it gives you a better access to all the process running , try without root and see what kind of info you get
If it's a conciliation, my android (currently on AOSP) is also running two android systems. Not exactly the same name (Android-System and Android-Besturingssysteem), but you get the idea. You mentioned quite a few things you've already tried, but what about existing widgets and or android apps you've installed? Usually (for me anyway) battery drain is an installed app not exactly behaving nicely.

So does this mean I'm not able to see the exact cause of my wakelocks since my phone isn't rooted?? I have installed Gsam Battery monitor from Google Play, hopefully it will give me (and you guys) the relevant information after keeping my phone on idle for a while.
@Skyrider: The weird thing is that in my case, it DOES display the same name twice. Doesn't that seem weird? I can't see any Android OS (besturingssysteem) displayed.
Also, if I have a battery heavy app, shouldn't it be displayed in the battery info screen as well? I only have the Weather widget and a News widget (NU.nl) on my homescreens. Haven't installed many apps except for Facebook and a few games that barely use background processes.

In my opinion, that's the problem with the default battery information. In my years of experience, it usually never knows the information that you need what exactly is braining the battery. If your battery is still being drained, I suggest to remove most of your apps. Only for a day orso. It should be enough to gather the information to know that at least one of your apps was the cause of it.
It's a pain to do it. But It always has helped me rather than relying on apps of which usually doesn't work out for me.
Also. Might be a good idea to alter your system language from Dutch to English and check the battery info again to search for the duplicate running system on google. You'd expect "Android System" being enough, but who knows that a different language might show a different name.
Ok, I don't have the slightest idea what happened but my battery duration is amazing now. After installing Gsam Battery Monitor and charging my phone to 100% I went to sleep and after 10 hours of standby I looked at my phone and it was on 93%. My phone doesn't consume more than 0,6-1,0% per hour now in the last 3 days!!
I haven't changed anything except choosing to use Wifi and mobile network for location services but not GPS. Weird thing is that I tried that option before without success.
I'm happy now
I'm still confused about the 2 Android systems in my battery info screen though. That might be a good idea to try @Skyrider but I do remember that "Android OS" was displayed differently in Dutch a while back. I'm guessing you have your phone language in Dutch as well since you're seeing "Android Besturingssysteem" on the battery info screen?

Yea, I'm using the Dutch language. But I'm not using the stock ROM of the phone, so hence I am seeing different systems running in the background. But I'm glad the battery is semi-fixed.
Ok, so I changed my phone to English and behold, one of the "Android Systems" indeed changed to "Android OS"
I could have sworn it was like that when my phone was in Dutch.
Perhaps someone with the stock ROM in Dutch could check that out?
No idea if this helps but i thought might as well contribute what it sais on my phone

Thanks a lot for confirming this! I guess Android OS is indeed translated to "System" for Dutch S4's.
Have you tried my suggestions in the opening post?
hey guys,
before 2 days i finally got my note 4 after a long time with iphones,a few words wow! what a great phone! i dont know what i did with iphone so many years. everything is open and so simple and i really glad i chose to go with the note 4.
now i have some questions (The most important question is the battery life) and much more questions and i will glad if you can help me with all of the questions.
ok lets start,
1. the most important questions is my first question and is about the battery life, When I received the note 4 I waited for fully discharged for the first use until the device turns off, and then I charged it again (with fast charging without turn of the device) and i fell asleep and then in the morning was 100% so i turn the device (yes I know not to leave it charging all night even after the device is already 100% but its happend ) well I noticed that the battery runs out really fast, and my use was quite low and I do not know how! For example, after a 3 hours of use the battery goes from 100% to 60% and after more two hours its was 35%. excpet this i saw when i got 5-6% i was playing a bit with the settings and after 2-3 min the device turns off. how 5-6% in 2-3 min and even less?
this is the things i did to save my battery life already:
sound settings: turns off - vibrate while ringing, dailing keypad tone, touch sound, screen lock sound, sounds when tapped, vibrate when tapped and all the rest.
brightness: almost the lowest and even now i tried auto - btw what is the best to do - auto brightness or to set it your own on low brightness?
bluetooth - off
closing applications with the "recent app button" - V
GPS - off
Disable Pen Detection - off
and more settings that i dont remmber.
here is a picture of my power saving in settings (before i charge it without "fast charing") Do not know if this is related but just mention that

}
so what should i do to to extend my battery life? because my battery life very poor.
Sub Questions about the battery:
a. which way is the best to charge the note? wait until the device turns off and then to charge it to 100%? or what?
b. fast charing option is good? right now i turns the option off and my device charging while he off. what do you recommend to turn off the feature or on?
2. i heard when i force stop applications in "applications manager" is good is that true? is effect on the battery life?
look at the picture i uploaded from there,
the settings are good? do i have to force stop applications? i will glad to hear a short explanation about this.
3. about the RAM usage, applications thats running or i dont know how to call it, look at the picture i uploaded:
1.6 GB in use and sometimes its even 2GB in use, i really dont know how! i didnt use so many applications.
it is ok to close apps from here or to let the system to handle it? and is effect on the battery life? i really glad to short explantion about it also.
4. the google syncs its like iCloud in apple? i saw in settings alot of marks like: calander, contacts, and many more can sync to google+, what thats means? its will upload to google sync cloud? or its just a backup to the contacts? i really dont understand this.
5. i used wazzapmigrator app to my note from iphone to transfer all my whatsapp history chat, is it safe? everything works good i just ask it to be sure. by the way i use the "LITE" version of free download and now each message have - LITE, if i buy the full version its will remove it?
and a sub question, i used smartswitch to transfer my notes, calander, contacts is ok?
Sorry for the ignorance i know i asked so many stupid questions but i have to solve them.
thank you very much!!
1. I will say that the battery needs to be settled with our use, so if you got bad batt life in first few days of use, it will become better later..
And also you can turn off feature that you don't use or hate it.. for me, I always disable vibration and that sound when typing with keyboard because that disturb me..
2. You can use the force close, it's just like force closing apps in pc.. you know, in pc we can force close app with the task manager via ctrl+alt+del.. it's just like that..
3. For me, I let the system handle it.. me too have same amount of ram used as in your picture, and the phone is still buttery smooth..
And you can disable (turn off) preinstalled app (bloatware) that you don't use, like me, I disable evernote, dropbox, instagram, etc. so they won't run in background..
4. I'm not experienced with apple icloud system, but I think they have same functionality.. That sync is provided so if you change your device or maybe lost it, you still have your data with you in the new phone, but I never use it so much because I can keep my phone well
5. I can't answer this as I'm not using whatsapp..
And 1 more :
Welcome to the android world
heres mine with auto brightness, gps high acc, bluetooth on, wifi on, display wallpaper full black, animations off, fast charging off - after a full day of work. rarely gets below 40%. exynos 910u variant.

first of all thank you for all the answers!
1. oh k, i hope its will be better. I considered to use the warranty and replace the battery but its make no sense because i bought the note before 2 days ago the battery is new from the box.
what do you recommend me to do?
and by the way to use auto brightness or to put it my self? and which way is the best way to charge the battery?
and i had 100% in in less then hour is drops to 88% only with whatsapp use, really strange.
and here is an update screenshot from my power save settings, 62% screen! i guess is the problem of my battery. so how can i make it lower? to 10-20 and even 30 its will make my battery better i guess no?
2. ok, and there is so many apps thats i dont have any idea what to do with them, devicetest, DCM,SERVICEMODE and alot more do not touch them? to close only Known Applications? and the most important, thats is effect on the battery life?
3. but evernote, instagram and all of this is in the manage applications also so whats its the diffrence and its effect on battery life also?
4. oh ok great!
5. k, and about smartswitch it is good? i used it to transfer contacts/notes.
thanks again!

here is a update screenshot from now,
i guess the screen is the problem of my battery how can i make it lower to 10-20 more/less? thats is the question.
do you think this is the issue thats my battery life poor?
yes its definitely your screen.
put it to basic, use a 256x144 full black wallpaper scaled up ( i attached one), turn animations off in dev options on your settings, set smart look on, set timeout to 10 seconds (dont worry smart look will prevent device shutting screen off while you look at it).
Just to show you i am not cheating and not using my note you can see my applications and memory usage, which is more than yours .

ok i hope is the screen.
well one of your screenshot doesnt work and all the rest i belive you about the usage/ram
ok i did the picture on basic, but still the screen is on 62% i have to wait until is drops or what?and where is the set it on 256/144 scaled up? and i cant find the animations also in the settings.
smart look you mean smart stay? to put it on? and screen timeout is on 15 seconds is the lowest.
and one more thingthe brightness should be on auto? and what is the auto adjust screen tone put it on? have alot settings in the screen settings i really dont know haha.
i will glad if you help me find those settings. i have to lower my screen percentage from 60% to 10-20-30 at least.
thanks!
the black image i posted up is a 256 x 144 image. download it to your note and set it as background.
settings- display screen - mode - basic.
enable auto adjust screen tone.
smart stay enable.
daydream off
touch light key duration 1.5s
screen timeout 15s
brightness -5 auto
settings - developer options - windows animation scale off. transition scale off duration scale off. show all ANRs.
(you will have to enable dev options - click on build number in about device 7 times)

When it should to drops? do i have to reset? charage again? wait? dont get it
and about the black image i dont want it on my wallpaper is that necessary?
about the dev options i enable it, when i set the scale off my screen become to red and flickering 10-15 sec until i stop the dev options. what is that?
so i didnt change the dev settings i did it off right now. what is this red flickering screen?
and btw i cant to disable/hide the dev options now right?
it will recalculate after 24 hrs.
the black screen is necessary - amoleds consume power on lit pixels.
scale off with animations off shouldnt cause flickering. sure you didnt switch anything else on ?

touch light key duration 1.5s
screen timeout 15s
brightness -5 auto

instead of manually force stop these app, you can open Settings > App manager > select apps and select Turn Off.
If you are not sure which app is safely can be turned off, you can post a list of apps here, I or maybe someone else will tell you which app can be safely turned off.
If you have rooted, you can remove them completely.

first of all thank you for all the answers!
1. oh k, i hope its will be better.

1. How long is your replacement warranty ? I suggest to wait it til the last day..
That screen percentage is show how much you use it.. screen will go high if you use it.. but that 60+ % is something.. I use my device often, and it's only as high as 30 something percent
2. I'll leave something that I didn't know.. You better google it to see it's used or not..
3. If you connect those apps, it's surely will drain the battery.. but I'm still turn it off if I not use it.. just in case they run in background..
5. I haven't used that apps..

settings - developer options - windows animation scale off. transition scale off duration scale off. show all ANRs.
(you will have to enable dev options - click on build number in about device 7 times)
Click to collapse
and when i turn off the scale animation the screen start to flickering on red colors, after 5-10 sec its stopped and never happend again.
should i have to worried? btw like i said i already removed/hide the devs options from settings with the guide thats i showed you.
i found a picture from another website of the same problem thats happend to me but for nexus,
the same thing happend to me but its was flickering.
the question if i have to worry about it and do a reset or to forgot it? its happend only one time.

Hi all, I'm an italian newly user joined right now at XDA. I'll try to explain at my best english what's annoying my Xperia X Compact (very satisfied up to now) since I've updated to Oreo a couple of days ago.
As I wrote in the title the smartphone give me one or a couple of notification sound but scrolling the notification bar nothing appears.
This happend after the factory reset followed after the first Oreo installation from Xperia Companion due to the battery performance got worse.
Now I still have a worse battery performance (around a 20% less) and I gained also this annoying little guy!
Should I show any further information?
Do you have any advice to me to solve it?
Thanks...

Do the notifications show up normally in other situations, or do you always have no notifications showig?
Try to catch it quickly - some notifications come and go quickly...
Interesting about battery drain. I never found that to be the case with O. Use a battery app to see what specifically is using the battery. Could be a connection to the notification.
Are you rooted, bl unlocked, system mods, etc...?

Hi! Notification works fine like it was with Nougat and I do not see quick notifications come and go, I have just this sound sometimes and nothing else. I have also desable all the useless notifications app that I don't need.
I did nothing to the smartphone, it's like when i've bought it and it is no brand. I'm gonna try some check battery app... Thx
Hi again... I belive I've found out what's the point with my cell phone issue.
After installing a notification history app the guilty is Weather & Clock widget so I quit notification option and everythings looks is working fine again.
Hope it'll be usefull.
Ciao!
