LTE symbol instead of 4G possible? - Nexus 4 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hi there, anyone know a way to get the 4G symbol to say LTE on the reception signal? I prefer it. Thanks for the help!

I can do it for you. When do you want it to say LTE? When you're connected to HSPA/+? 4G?

You have to edit the SystemUI.apk
I'll explain it fully once I get to my PC.

It would be nice to know how you are proceeding exactly, because mine doesn't say H+, but just H. (I can see the correct type of connection in settings) This does not appear on CM, but on stock and AOKP.

You should probably make one for stock 4.2.1 while you're at it (H or H+ to 4g). A lot of people are asking for this. Might as well make a thread in themes and apps for it.

Yeah, I probably will after I make some more signal mods. Hey, can someone give me the SystemUI.apk from the latest ParanoidAndroid? I can't download it for some reason. I also need someone who is on stock to pull the SystemUI.apk. The easiest way is to do it using adb: adb pull system/app/SystemUI.apk

Is it possible to teach me how to do it? Paranoid android is currently a nightly so the ROM version changes a lot.

Here's the H-4G mod for people who are on stock: Stock H-to-4G mod
Just add it to system/app, change permissions to r-w-r-r and reboot. Let me know if it works. I still need the SystemUI for the latest PA and an LTE logo. I thought there was one already included in the SystemUI.apk.
To mod the SystemUI.apk yourself you have to copy the logo you want to replace the signal with to your desktop (that's where I put it, you can put it somewhere else). After you do that, open up the "drawable-sw600dp-xhdpi", find the icon of the H or H+ (depends what ROM you're on), change the name of the 4G logo on your desktop to match the one in the folder, and replace it. Do the same thing for "drawable-sw720dp-xhdpi" and "drawable-xhdpi". That's it!

OP, how's this for an LTE icon? I don't have a Nexus 4 (One X), but I just looked inside the SystemUI posted above and the icons are the same resolution. I created it myself.

Do not download this update if you are using the .ZIP to install on a regular Nexus S. After updating, I get the message "Google Wallet is not supported on this phone". I was able to restore the original version by uninstalling Wallet with Titanium Backup and flashing the .ZIP again.

[ROM][AOSP] ICS build for Nexus S - v2 [WIP]
+++DOWNLOADS+++
v1
WIFI patch (flash with v1)
Fix for 'Roaming Indicator Off'
v2
Kernels that seem to work fine:
Matr1x
franco.Kernel
GLaDOS
Want to try, but don't know how? ACS member qbking77 decided to take that extra step and provide a how to video-tutorial on the subject.
Due to many users having problems with wifi/calls/reboots, I decided to post what I did and what seems to work. I am using TWRP not CWM, but I'm guessing the menus are very similar.
+++V2 Install Instructions:+++
Boot into your recovery of choice
Navigate to: Advanced Menu>Format Menu
Format /System
Format /Data
Format /Cache
Back to Advanced Menu
Back to Main Menu
Install Zip
Choose Zip Files To Flash
Select v2 Rom and Fix for 'Roaming Indicator Off'
Wipe Dalvik and Cache
Flash Zips Now
Reboot to System
If that doesn't solve your problem, XDA user blacknet101 found these instructions to do the trick.
Change your carrier text (where it says Sprint on the notification drop down) to what ever you want. Courtesy of XDA member fergie716.

Love this ROM. Don't use 4G so it's not a deal breaker for me. Works very smooth, especially after changing the CPU governor to performance.
Btw, 4G isn't supposed to work. This is a port of the GNex source code and there aren't specific files for WiMAX since the Nexus S 4g specific source code isn't out yet
Can't get screenshots to save. Don't think my memory is full. Have to check here...

1. Go to This Link and download the 3GTurboCharger_Installer_Update_3_RC11_Test_1.sh.pdf file, which should, as far as I know, be the most recent update.
2. Download an app called SManager from the Play Store ( I downloaded the one with the adds). Link To It On The Play Store
3. Open up SManager on your phone, the first time you run it it will give a pop up box, you have the option to enable "Browse as root" select that and give it root rights.
4. Browse where you downloaded the script to, on my phone it's in "/mnt/sdcard/Download" click it and there will be a pop up asking you how you want it to run, the
only thing that you should do is click the little skull and crossbones icon that has "Su" written underneath it, near the top left corner of the menu, wait for the icon to
turn green and then click "Run".
5. You will now be brought to a menue with a list of things to choose from, I chose option 4, to be on the safe side, rather than option 5, so tap your screen to bring up the keyboard and just put the
number of whatever option you want to go for, so for me it will be "4" and then just press the enter button on the keyboard.
6. Wait for the installation to finish (It takes a maximum of about 10 seconds) then it will ask you to choose an option, type "12" and hit enter, to reboot your phone to apply the new configuration, and enjoy the awesome speeds!
If you need any more help, or if you're not clear on something I've written, don't hesitate to ask and I'll do my best to help you out!

Well, I beg to differ, before used the script, I was getting 5mb down speeds consistently, now that I have used the script, I've done 3 tests, all of which are 10mb+, if it was just a placebo, I highly doubt it would still be on the XDA Forum

I went ahead and looked for you. Their is currently no 4.4 ROM that has expanded desktop/pie controls. Your best bet is to get xposed installer and wait for gravity box to update to 4.4, with gravity box you can enable expanded desktop and pie controls on any ROM you want.

4.4 can hide the controls and reveal them by swipe. Just wait till developers adopt theit apps for 4.4

Yeah I knew about lmt launcher but is there a way to remove the navbar? The old method of adding a line to the build.prop doesn't work on 4.4.

Install xposed framework for 4.4 and the gravity box module, there's an option for it, you can even have pie with gravity box.
