one of a kind bootloop! please help :S - Nexus 4 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

hey guys i just flashed a new rom and was playing with it...ran antutu and suddenly my phone died...didnt respond to anything..my battery was around 50 percent so i plugged it into the wall charger to see if my love had died but a strange red light poped up which started blinking..so i pressed the home button again thinkin that the phone had revived but the light went away...only to not come back..so i plug it into the usb and the phone turns on..the charging icon comes up..and then the phone reboots again into the charging icon..this goes on and on with a constant red light.. only until when i try to start the phone again where the light starts blinking and the bootloop stops leaving the phn dead again :s...i can get into bootloader but that is very rarely aswell cause most of the time download mode shows up.
to top up the mess after getting into the bootloader i tired flashing the stock kernel..stock recovery..what not..all goes fine only until the phone reboots..only to enter into this charging icon bootloop again..no matter what i do..if the phone reboots somehow while being inside the bootloader the bootloop starts again...ive been at it for the past hour and nothin has sufficed ..please help me...i knw the phone isnt bricked as it wudnt have turned on at all..but wateva it is anyone..please help me!
the rom i had just flashed was chainfire X sr 5!..!

This isn't new. Leave it on the charger for a few hours and try again.

doesnt help as even on charger the bootoop continues.. :S

What about flashing the bootloader? (Not boot)
Download the file and place in the same folder as fastboot then run cmd and type those commands below
cd {Path to the folder here without the brackets}
fastboot flash bootloader bootloader-mako-makoz10l.img

just flashed a factory image via wugfreshes tool kit...it rebooted in between the process but luckily i immediately 3 buttoned it into the bootloader...so yeah everythin is stock now but even then the device is not responding!

It doesn't matter if it continues on charger. The phone needs to cool off and reset. You said this happened during a benchmark, right? Were you overclocked?

nopes no overclocking..ive got no idea wats up so m jus gonna leave it on the charger over night while it bootloops on the charging icon whole night long..!

It will charge in bootloader. It just won't be wearing itself out trying to boot.

i hope it works out..! !

thats the red light of death, or red light of scaring you to death. if you can get into the bootloader, press the power off option then let it charge. what happened is that your device thinks that it went below 0% in battery charge.

several hours should do. I kept mine on the charger all night, it booted later.

See, OP. I told you it wasn't a "one of a kind" bootloop.

ok i accept that it aint one of a kind...but wat i dont get is how did u guys put it on the charge..? i mean i just cant plug the device into a charger without it going into a bootloop!..which obviously wont be helping the cause as constant booting will drain the battery!..so how did u all put it on the charge?

guys thx alot..fixed it..finally..!

Tada. All it needed was time.

nah not really..had the phn on charge over night..didnt do any good..then found this another thread abt the same issue where ppl mentioned quite a few ways..i personally in the bootloader just fastboot wiped everythin and then without the reboot in between fastboot flashed everything all over..that didnt do any good..but then i flashed a custom recovery n tried permanenting it through mskips toolkit..it gave me a constantly sticking google screen..which after turned into the google X bootscreen..for 30 mins it stuck there..after which i again fastboot wiped everything n reflashed through fastboot..and only then it started...
personally i dont think its the matter of battery or anything else...something corrupts all the partitons..as when i was in recovery i wiped cache, dalvik cache, system, user data and they all returned an error of the directory not being there..battery was fine...but something somehow either corrupts all the partitions except for bootloader or something corrupts the sd card in whole...just my two cents!

Defy Red Lens BIG PROBLEM WONT START

Hi Guys.
First of All i am sorry for my bad English. Hope that u will understand me. I have a big Issue with my Defy with Red Lens. I used to have CM7 running on it with Android 2.3.7. Yesterday I decided to flash CM9 from 19/03 with the CM9 Kernel. Everything went just fine the phone started up and ran perfectly smooth until it just turned off. I wasnt even able to turn it on again. I guess the battery wa empty because it was in use for about 10 hours. Now heres the PRoblem: I cant start my phone. If i push the button nothing happens. But if i plug it onto the charger it will boot until this charging screen and not more. There is than a white questionmark on the battery on the screen and its stuck there with the red LED above the screen turned on. I am able to get into CM recovery Menu but everything i tried didnt work. I tried Clear Dalvik Cache, Full Wipe, Clear Battery Stats and the Recovery from CM. Nothing works. I am really confused.
Any help will be highly appreciated.

Even if you plug it to the charger, if it's not charging, well...it's just not charging The battery meter shows full, but it's neither full, nor is it charging, therefore the patch needs to be flashed

why?
just put it on the usb an laptop, go in Android Bootmenu (Stock Recovery, not Clockworkmod) and select: Tools!
There u can select "share usb" or "share SD Card". Don't know exactly, but the computer should recognize it so u can copy files to your SD Card (e.g. Roms etc).

Deas nexus 4

Hello everyone,
I was doing an antutu test, and the phone just shut off yesterday. The battery was about 60% and then impossible to restart it. I then let it cool down 10mn then tried again with no luck. I plugged to the wall with original cable and plug and then a red flashing light was lit. I went to read online about this behaviour to find out it was (to some people say) due to battery being dead and had to wait to recharge a bit. I let charge for about 2h but there was no icon of battery charging on the screen. No need to mention that i have tried everything (holding power button for 60sec, holding volume down + power button etc etc) nothing was working. Then i read somewhere on this forum i had to press volume down + power THEN plug it into wall. I gave a try then it worked it went to recovery mode.... BUT BUT BUT once i tried to go to each option (start, restart bootloader, recovery mode), the phone was shutting down right away after the google image and again red flashing light... Bummer... So since it was getting into recovery mode i plugged it to pc and then followed the thread on how to reinstall stock rom etc etc. I followed steps but since i was already with a custom rom and kernel (PA+TRINITY) i used the toolboxkit because the command fastboot was not working in the command window. I did flashed the stock bootloader following what was supposed to be flashed first.Result.. Now no red flashing light, but nothing else either, no light, no power, no charging, no recovery mode, nothing... ANY ideas would be highly apreciated before i call google for an exchange.
Thanks to all for help.
What exactly do you plan on telling Google?
How did you flash only the bootloader??
Did you try the toolkit to reflash stock???

Well since it does nothing else anymore i was going to tell them the truth besides the part it had another custom rom and kernel and i started the toolkit and i placed the 6 stock .img int he right folder then i started by flashing the bootloader and was waiting for reboot to flash the rest of the images like it is mentionned on the thread on this forum.
I used the toolkit to flash the bootloader but now the phone is dead completly. No light flashing, no battery icon, it is plugged on the wall and i get no power in it.. This is why im stuck before trying to flash stock rom and wipe all datas...
If you have any idea... i take it gladly!! but im not very used with toolkit so i dont seem to know how to wipe all datas besides flashing stok data image?? but the question is hos to get power back in phone now???
thank you for your precious help
anyone else???
i have exactly the same
check my thread
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2050811
i flashed custom rom and kernel
bat was at 98%, putted it into my pocket, one hour later i put it out, used to unlock the screen, bamm nothing anymore since then
i am not even managed to get it into recovery
no solution worked for me
i have no idea what happend to my device, ic alled google cause i really think its an hardware issue..

Hello
Phone totally dead, not even charging anymore. Google sending replacement

Phone still gets stuck in boot loop after flashing stock firmware

I have a TMobile/MetroPCS GS4 model SGH-M919N that got stuck in a boot loop last week. I was finally able to find working firmware last night and used Odin to flash. Once it got to PASS my phone automatically rebooted with the blue recovery boot text in the top left, but then it just went back into a boot loop. I tried all other firmwares and none of them got to 100% so now I don't know what else I can do.
I have the same issue on a GT-i9505. I was using my phone this evening when it randomly rebooted and just keep rebooting until I removed my battery. After that, it was dead . Flashing stock firmwares like shooting a minigun and nothing works. Smells like a hard brick?

Have you tried replacing the battery? I figured I would try that but I havent gotten around to it yet
Not yet, i have no spare battery. Looks like when i plug the charger my phone just vibrates, like it's rebooting, and it's not showing anything. I found a similar issue here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2532447
Looks like one guy did solve his problem.
*need to mention that by dead I mean it shows the "Samsung Galaxy S4 GT-I9505" logo and also shows "RECOVERY BOOTING", even though I didn't enter in recovery mode. Looks like now it doesn't shows anymore "RECOVERY BOOTING", but still, it doesn't boot. I was able to flash firmwares via odin and kies, but still no luck.
LE: It start booting by.. magic, i got to samsung boot logo, but that's all, crashed again.
After flash with Odin, immediately boot into recovery, perform a factory wipe, and reboot.
The problem is it doesn't boot into recovery.
LE: I managed to flash twrp via odin and boot into recovery, but i have an error:
"Unable to mount /data"
Any ideas?
LE2: Everything is useless, i managed to flash the rom, manage to boot into the rom, but then it will still reboot (which it did). Next step will be maybe to disassemble and clean all contacts.

Yes, but if I leave my phone in recovery (stock or custom), it just either freezes, either reboots, even though i don't do anything, just let it idle.
I can't manage to boot into the ROM 'cause eventually it will reboot. I couldn't finish the setup wizard.
OK so I don't know if this helps, but I managed to at least get past the "blue recovery boot" part. When the phone vibrated I let go of the power while still holding home + vol up, and I managed to get to the android guy with a blue progress bar below him. My phone shut off as the progress bar got 80-90% but now I know it's not impossible to start recovery.
Well, nothing works. After flashing pit file, an 4.4.2 odin prerooted image from here, cf auto root and then twrp, it will still randomly reboot. I manage to get past the boot logo into setup wizard, but phone just freezes after a couple of minutes, can't finish the setup wizard. Also, if i idle in twrp it will reboot sooner or later, tested already.I left my phone idling in twrp just to recharge my battery.
At least i have no more "unable to mount /data" errors.
I finally got it to work, all I had to do is keep flashing twrp and stock firmware back and forth. But it is just one problem after another with this thing, the problem now is every 5 minutes it will freeze and restart, also it tells me there is no sim even though it worked the first time i put it back in.

It means he flahsed and reflashed many times until he got lucky and it worked. That's what happened to me also. But i have the same issue, phone reboots or freezez after a couple of minutes, even though everything else is installed properly.
Dude, we have the same issue. Btw, is this happening to you too? Like, now and then when the phone freezes, that the screen is turning to a bright yellowish green?
I know a friend who repairs phone hardwares for a living, i gave it to him, i'll let you know how this went.

I got several times into Recovery Mode now, flashed several ROMs. I had no issues with freezing, especially not in TWRP Recovery Mode. But sometimes if i am trying to go into Recovery Mode or i just want to start ROMs, the screen turns into yellow behind the Samsung logo. If i dont take out the battery this wents into a complete white, but nothing happens.
Yes please tell if you got some news..

[Solved] Cannot use battery power on recovery and system

So, here's my situation, my phone suddenly turned off last night while installing a game, when i tried to power it up, it "blinking" on the boot logo, it keeps turned on and off, so i reckon its battery has run out, so i charge it, then it works, it can boot to system, after it shows around 80% i unplugged the charger but the phone then suddenly turned off and again, blinking on the boot logo.. so i charge it again just to see it boot to system and shows 80% battery.. i tried to charge it to 100%, but at 100%, the phone suddenly died, again..
at first i thought it might be a battery problem, or power circuit thingy, but here's the catch, it can hold for 30 mins + on bootloader mode..
can someone tell me what is wrong with my phone?
EDIT: flashed stock ROM and Recovery, still no use
EDIT2: Did the QPST as suggested as Rwepradeep, still blinking on lenovo logo
EDIT3: Solved! Battery was the actual problem

okay so i did the qpst thing, it can hold on at download mode until it finished, then after that the phone reboots, and it happened again...
i don't get this phone, it works well on bootloader and download mode, but not so long at recovery.. not to mention i can't even boot into system (can't even past the boot logo lol)
Okay so, i took it to Lenovo Service Center, they told me something wrong with the battery, apparently it hold up on bootloader because the bootloader mode didn't took so much power, so even a broken battery should hold up a little.. Changed the battery, now it works well, thanks for all the help..

Huawei P10 Lite - Bricked

Hello guys,
A day ago I decided to root my Huawei P10 lite. I unlocked bootloader and flashed TWRP. Everything worked fine. However I was unable to root my phone so I tried to lock bootloader. Thats where my problem started.... I locked bootloader via ADB and then it said the phone will reboot and factory reset. Phone was rebooted but now its ,,stucked" on huawei logo screen and nothing happens.... I just let phone to discharge and when I try to turn it on its still get to the logo screen and nothing. Always when I try to turn phone off it keeps turning on to the logo screen and Im unable to go to recovery or safe mode because button combination dont work. I cant even connect it to the PC via the USB cable....
Any ideas how to fix it (if its even possible) would be much apreciated.
Thanks a lot guys.
So, even you if you mounted the /system partition read-write it gets modified and the signature breaks that's why your phone no longer boots.
Try following: shutdown the phone if you can, press volume down and at the same time plug in the USB cable and unlock the bootloader, then flash the latest firmware for the device using the HwOTA method:

Thats the problem, the phone cant be shut downed by the ,,official" way (hold power button) because it instatly power on after two seconds... Only way how to completely shut down is let the phone discharge.... Anyway when I try to shut down the phone and then instatly press volume down I always get to the logo screen then I get black screen (looks like its trying to do something) and then the phone reboots and again get logo screen... It looks like the phone is gone for good lol

EDIT
It worked as you said (holding volume down + USB) and phone booted successfully but then appeared shutting down possibly due to low battery... I will keep trying. So thank you very much, you saved my day lol.
Allright, the phone is gone for good... Whenever I try your trick (volume down + USB) the phone boot up to the OS but then always shut down because of low battery. I tried to charge the battery but it seems like its not charging at all... Got phone on charger for three hours now and still red LED diod shows low battery.... I think this thread can be closed and I will bring the phone to the service center and see if they can fix this or not. Again thanks for the help.
Try to charge it when is in bootloop or that's what you tried?

Yeah, now I have it on charger for 5 hours, got huawei logo on screen and red LED diod flashing... Strange thing is the phone is not heating anymore, even charger is cold... When I un-plug the charger the phone shut down in like 5 minutes... When its on charger its not turnning off so I assuming there must be some power coming through the charger to phone then...
This Huawei P10 Lite is quite strange piece of electronic.... Its just booted itself on its own and actually its working just fine... What would you recommend to do, now? battery is charging right now at 16%
