NetFlix on EOS4 91 - Eee Pad Transformer General

Since I can't post on the other forum, I'll post here.. Netflix runs OK, but jitters and freezes a bit at the start of whatever show you are watching.
After the show, if you click on the netflix button (upper left corner), the app just closes, and puts you back at your launcher screen.
No error message or any other message is shown. You can re-launch the app, and it opens and plays just like the 1st try. However, again, once you're done watching, and wish to try another show, it will automatically close.
EOS4 JB 91 with 80 lidpatch

I tested Netflix on my tf101, I'm running B134 with kernel 80b lidpatch. I don't have any kind of problems like you mentioned. Maybe try and reinstall Netflix? Can you stream from other apps ok, like YouTube?

not tired anything else.. I just Netflix a few shows the other night..
Now, I forgot to say, I had my tab upside down as well.. (the power cord point out the top). And the unit is not docked.. Just holding it in my hand

I have seen this as well (both the jitters and crash on returning to main screen) the jitters do seem to be depending on what show im watching meaning some worse than others but as sttovo has said latest preview rom 136 andd lidpatch 80B seem to have resolved the jitters part. still closes on return to show listing for me tho. am wondering if this is a app problem tho as this only started for me after last app update.

Still jitters here on the preview. And closes on return.
This is a full wipe then reinstall everything. Not a backup type move to the newest rom

Oh yeah, that could be part of it. I'm OC'ed to 1504 on smartassv2 and SIO, my Antutu scores are in the 7700 range. Same Antutu test at 1000 gives 5500. I remember the Time Warner Cable app was sluggish for me too. Overclocking fixed it.
Good luck, and try overclocking to 1504.

Still getting jitters at startup, but after 2 mins or so, its gone... Then, on return to main selection screen, it still closes.
I've also tired setting my TF101 to the 1504 setting, and didn't notice much difference. Must be a issue with netflix and JB..

Highest overclock on Wing/P4350?

I can only get 243mhz stable. At 260mhz, it works for a while, but then the screen starts getting a little ... squiglly is the best way to put it I guess. At 273mhz, the screen is unusable.
Definitely will not try higher, but I've seen people on here with 299mhz!!
284mhz with my last wing, I haven't tested this one. With my ROM, I don't really need the extra clocks to run smoothly.
I use batterystatus and set the omap to 247 and then let cpuscaler do the rest when it is sitting idle or whatnot. Seems to work for me!
I am running 299mhz perfectly stable on ttrans open touch 3.0 biggy with battary status. If I use scaler for some reason its not stable so I dont use it.
Although batterystatus claims that I'm running at 299mhz, omapclock says it's 276mhz. Both will cause it to freeze if I go any higher. I just kept increasing it until it froze, reset, and went with the last working setting. Just from reading here, there doesn't seem to be much consistency. Some wings freeze, while some work perfectly. I guess it depends on the mood of the assembler that day. But I have a problem with underclocking to save power. The screen makes this God-awful hissing whenever the speed drops below 188mhz.

The biggest thing with the inconsistency is the processors and roms, no processors are exactly the same, some heat up faster etc. and also the rom has a play in the speed factor with how fast it can go, if its processing too much at that speed it will heat up faster.

Mine is at 247 w/ CPUscaler enabled. 260 and it gets jittery. Anything past that and it turns white and locks up.

Xoom lag issues

Anyone else have lag issues when unlocked, rooted, with oc'd kernel installed running at any speed. I mostly notice when coming out of standby mode. Text input on web pages is considerably slow, also loading of web pages. When opening apps it doesn't seem to be affected other than movie playback. Any feedback would be appreciated.....
Sent from my Xoom using XDA Premium App
Oh one other thing....when I first installed OC it was running like wildfire, the longer I'm running it the worse it is getting. Yes the cache was cleared, any other ideas?

Same issue here, not sure of any fix though.
this happens to me too but it never lastes more than a min or two.
hmmm i havent noticed this at all. have been overclocked for a little over 2 weeks with only a couple restarts due to theme installs
i mean it isn't something that is super noticable for me but sometimes my keyboard lags for a couple mins but then it gets back to normal. i mean it is expected when you have a device that still hasn't had its "official full" update lol.

Yeah, but compare this experience with stock on the Captivate (cause it's not even close to Serendipity), and that's a whole different comparison
It took a while for good, stable kernels to come out for the Captivate as well. Hopefully Google changes their mind about the source code once the rest of these tablets start coming out, and then we might get some of your fantastic meals for the Xoom too!

No kidding. Flash back to stock Eclair on the Captivate to turbo charge your Xoom.
If you are running performance mode with setcpu and have a min freq above 250, the CPU will drop to 250 when you turn screen off and not go above it.
Simple fix is to keep setcpu on "on demand", but you can also keep it on performance and manually bump the freq up by going into setcpu every time you turn the screen on.

Yea, the only time i lags for me is when i am scrolling via browser or something with a lot of texts / graphics. I would assume a dual 1Ghz would be more smooth than this.

You have something wrong then. I do not have that experience. In fact, if I try to do some intense things like video recording using your Captivate ROM, my phone chokes where my Xoom does not. Granted, the Xoom does lag for me with certain things, mostly certain web sites in the browser including this site, the overall responsiveness has been just as good or better than my Captivate with your ROM.
Perhaps you should be more specific on what you have installed, how your screens are configured, what widgets you are using, etc. so maybe the culprit can be identified. Are you full stock with nothing installed and experiencing this?
I disagree. You have a bad unit or your doing something wrong. Back off the bashing.

Transformer Screen Refresh speed!?

Yes, this is my first ever post here! but the fact is, that I never saw the need to post and Q/A because most of the stuff that came to mind were asked and answered. Until now...
First off, I am a happy Transformer user and never had reasons to complain. But this kinda upset me..
I had a chance to play with a buddy of mines Galaxy Tab 10.1 yesterday for the first time, and I noticed something...scrolling and just moving around the tablet felt smoother than my Asus (Mind you, I have a custom rom installed, OC kernel with many optimization's)
So I figured, since his was bone-stock, and it pretty much being the same spec hardware (Tegra 2 etc..) I would run some benchmarks.
As soon as I ran Quadrant I noticed his was smoother...but, my scores were HIGHER!
Then i noticed on the bottom left hand side FPS were locked at 30FPS?!?! on mine!! and his were going well over 30!! actually maxing out at 60!!!
So what gives!?!?!
Are our Asus Refresh rates stuck at 30??? If that is indeed the case that would suck! BIGTIME!
Hopefully somebody can shed some light
THANKS GUYZ

Download this off market and u should get atleast 58 frames per second
https://market.android.com/details?id=com.edburnette.fps2d
Unlocking the frames would be an awsome thing in a custom kernel but I don't believe it can be done. However ill ask again
so could it be that 2d is able to run at 60hz and 3d cannot? This still doesnt quite answer the general smoothness advantage of the tab.
Im going to try to get my hands on his tab and do a side by side comparison
Btw thx for the quick reply

Just an update on JRCU implementation in the kernel. It seems to give us highes scores in 3d benchmarks in antutu and seems more responsive BUT the dreaded sleep of death and intermittent reboots have made me decide to drop it. It seems to be related to wifi, if it is off, there are no reboots or sleep of death but with it on and then turning the tab off, then reboots or sleep of deaths happens.

In short its possible but then it would fk stuff up
Please note that it's a known fact that Tegra 2 based tablets have a worse graphics performance when running in portrait mode. Did you run these tests in portrait or in landscape mode?
Also, I've not seen this other fact reported anywhere, but I have the dock, and I have noticed that scrolling the home pages or any other item via the touchpad does produce a way lower refresh rate than using the touch screen. Although it would be very silly if true, I think the problem is related to the touchpad mouse cursor sprite, which seems to be implemented by overimposing a full screen transparent layer on top of the normal flipping animation, thus affecting performance greatly.
I would really like this being addressed by ASUS our Google, since I use my Transformer way more in NetBook than in tablet mode...
With virgin stock HC 3.2, my TF101 scored 62.50 fps in Nenamark1 3D benchmark. The previous record was 44.40 fps... The trick is to run the benchmark in 'Zoom to fill mode' Now my device is the 3rd fastest TF101 on the net .

Why would this be awesome? Running anything higher than the native refresh rate of the screen doesn't do anything except waste CPU and GPU cycles.
I am just guessing here but the native refresh rate is probably 59 or 60 Hz.

Thats hurt Thanks anyway
I have a synaptics touch and I also have lag.
That YouTube video is useless because it's obvious that if you don't have lag with the screen on, it not simply locking the screen that it will get lagged.
As far as I know it's been like this forever and there are several topics discussing this.
If the phone enters deep sleep, sometimes the touch events will lag a lot and it seems to stop detecting multi touch points. Sometimes locking and unlocking seems to avoid that problem.
I have a PIN unlock and this really bugs me but it's been like this forever, so I take it as a consequence of owning budget phones.

Games freezing

My games play just fine for ~10 minutes, and then start freezing. They start working again after a a small amount of time, but continue freezing. It makes me think it might have something to do with overheating, but the phone itself is barely warm. Does anyone else have this issue?
It's not that big of a deal, because I don't play games frequently, I'm just thinking that when I travel, I don't want to be having this issue with only being able to play games intermittently.
I first noticed it on SlimRom, thought it might have had something to do with the smaller pixel density that rom has, so I changed the lcd density to default, and the issue continued. I installed AOKP last night, and the issue is happening with that one as well.
I didn't have the stock rom on long enough to test it, but it would be nice to know that this is a phone issue and not a rom issue.
Right now I'm trying out the rest of the roms to see if any work for games for more than 10-15 minutes, but I would really appreciate some input from anyone.
EDIT
Issue occurs with Carbon and PAC roms as well.

not sure, but it could be a memory (RAM) issue. does the freezing happen with other apps, or just certain games?
I have not seen it happen in anything except games, but it only happens when I have the game open for 10+ minutes. I don't think I have ever had a single app open that long, but it doesn't seem to be a RAM issue to me. Once the freezing starts happening, it freezes a couple times a minute, and other apps work just fine, even with the game still running in the background. If I set it down, it won't freeze again for another few minutes, which is why it seems like GPU overheating to me. Once it gets hot, it freezes really frequently, then when given the chance to cool down it doesn't freeze again unless its been running a game for longer.
I just got it to freeze, hit the task killer button(said 380MB free) and went back into the game, and it froze again within 30 seconds.
I downloaded a CPU temp app, and the CPU is ~35C, and doesn't get much higher when the game starts freezing. Are there any apps that show GPU temp? I can't seem to find anything.

get a logcat and send it to the Dev of whatever ROM you're on.
I did, I ended up sending it to the SlimRoms crew, because Slim has been my go-to rom.
In other news, I used the Utility on the Dev page to flash back to stock 4.1.2, and have been playing a game for around 20 minutes with no issues, it seems like stock works fine. Good to know I dont have a malfunctioning device.
I'm gunna try some of the 4.1.2 roms and if they don't have the issue, I may just stick with one of those.
Thanks for your help.
I had the same problem! I'm running Carbon and I had the same problems with games. I recently flashed the latest version of carbon and it seems to not have the issue any more though

I tried it without Force GPU and the same thing happened.
I played Dead Trigger for a while without any problems. Seems like its only 2D games, but those are mostly the only ones I play.
