Hey Guys,
Since I upgraded to the Samsung Galaxy S3, I decided to sell(sold!) my Streak 5 to some lucky user in my area.
Just wanted to express my thanks to everyone for all the excellent support and help, and especially want to thanks the great developers for their hard work developing better roms for the Streak 5 (The manii, n0p, DJSteve, Toni & etc) which kept this device alive and kicking even after Dell announced its death...
I know the Dell Streak 5 won't die just yet, since DJ Steve is back.. but nonetheless..
Its been great everyone, will miss this device... maybe a little...lol
Anyways, I'll see you on the 'flip' side!:good:

Just stumbled across this little vid (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ksZoMkV75ig) and I thought it was kinda interesting and give a bit of hope for the future for the phone maybe
It's of Dell announcing how they are going to try and intergrate the Dell Streak into the medical health system to digitize patient information for quick and easy access for all medical staff.
I think this is a pretty good idea but why now and why with the Dell Streak? Don't get me wrong, I love the Streak but we've had PDAs and stuff for ages, so how come this hasn't been done earlier?
Thoughts?
Great Link! +1
Lol, just checked out randomly some of the vids on the side, seems that this vid is pretty much exactly the same as another announcement that Dell made last November and the dude has pretty much just replaced Dell Mobile Clinical Computing with Dell Streak (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6rsDdb2PEXk&feature=related)
so their just implementing the device for another use. Thats good for the device but the way i see it (and what upsets me) is the device isn't being adopted by the majority. For us streak owners that means less mods (no cyangenmod and such) so we as streak users have to it upon us to start learning new things (which i and a couple others are) to get the ball rolling.
This is a great device, its just up to us users to make the most out of it, and we have to stop being lazy and expect others to do it for us..
To be honest, that is the future for tablets. Tablets (or small MIDs) are going to take over the world with 1 in nearly everyone's hand. I find it fascinating that Dell is actually pushing this on the medical industry with the Streak.
Thanks for the link
I think its good news all round for us
The part of my reason bought Dell Streak is 5" display.
Now Dell doesn't make another 5" phone.
But Samsung did it with 5'3" Super Amoled Display.
I think I will love it.

Guessing you missed the five page thread on the Note a little bit lower down
Not to mention missing the thread in Development about the new Gingerbread kernel source for the Streak as well as the thread in this forum about a potential official Gingerbread ROM in the next two weeks.
Sorry...but Dell did not "give up" on the Streak. If they had, Asia wouldn't have gotten Streaks as a new device this year.
I keep insisting the moderators should immediately BOOT the members that REFUSE to do any searching and reading and post the same stuff as the rest of the noobs over and over
I finally got the chance yo upgrade my wife's Galaxy S...I wanted to upgrade her's to Froyo....and to my surprise today....Samsung Kies said that it was able to upgrade to Gingerbread...I was like.....WHAT?! So I had to upgrade hers to Foryo first, then finally Gingerbread...
Come on Dell...even Galaxy S has Gingerbread now....
It's sad to see how Dell has stop giving support to the Streak. Can't really blame them though since Streak is kind of getting old with the new arrival of the Galaxy Note. Even a Streak lover like me once was has moved to the new Galaxy Note....
Still deciding if I should keep my Streak since it was the first 5" and phone/tablet deviece.
How do you like the Note?

The note is GREAT...the screen is BIGGER and BRIGHTER than the Streak.
The only thing I don't like about it so far is the density of the screen. I mean I can change the density lower...However, it would stuff up some cool programs like S-Memo....
But overall...it's quite good.
Well guys, our device isn't getting any younger, and many of us have got new devices. In order to keep the forums cleaner this thread is meant for saying goodbye.
I've got a Nexus S, but I still have GT540 lying around, I just want to say thanks to our devs for making our device such a wonderful and interesting experience, also I want to thank everyone who helped me and answered my mostly stupid questions. I'll still visit GT540 forums but probably less often.
Again, thanks everybody!!!
Odlicna promena, nek te sluzi bolje nego gt540.

Goodbye too
I say goodbye to the community GT540 too. I bought a Galaxy S i9000. So thanks to all the developers who keep this device alive.
I didnt want to create a new topic, so I wrote it here
hi guys,
bought a LG Optimus 2x ...
last rom i flashed to gt540 was miro's last AOSP because there is no need for swap (and an sd-card) and its stable and fast...
But know he has also left so its time to change ...
I'll randomly look into this forum, but for now I'll molest the devs in Optimus 2x-Thread
Goodbye!!!
Bye man
i got my HTC One V a few months ago. just gave my GT540 away to charity (screen was broken for the 4th time anyways , and couldnt get the motivation to fix it) still look in these forums from time to time, for nostalgia purposes i guess goodbye to you all and it's been a great 3 years
After a long time away i decided to stop in here for a while. The gt540 was my first android phone, in fact it was my first smart phone. Since then i have had galaxy s, galaxy s2, desire hd, hd2, iphone 4, 4s and 5.... In no particular order.
Learning how to root and install roms were all part of the fun and learning. It was great being part of this community.
And now i must say..... Goodbye

Goodbye if you have a little time give this old thread a short stroll
Farewell dear friends, I changed my phone with a clone dell'S3, I had fun with you and hope to meet again one day. With some of you there have been controversies, but I love you and I appreciate the work you have done for this phone, I will not forget! Thanks for everything .. bye!
Hi,
I would just like to thank all the XDA members that have kept the Dell Streak alive all this time, based on current cell phone availability, I have seen virtually nothing to sway my temptation for trading in my Streak. Even by today's standards it's still an enviable phone to have. But just with a bum manufacturers OS, I nowuse the Longhorn OS. And has suited me very nicely indeed.
Thanks again, for all your hard work and support.
Special thanks
Hi all!
I would like to say thank you also, I've been using the stock version until yesterday and then I tried the _n0p_'s DSC v1.7 and I think it's great. It has everything I've been missing in the stock version: back-cover disable, default portrait mode, no Olleh bloatware and a lot of control over.. well about everything! So far I had no real problems with it and if I will encounter any, I will be more than happy to help improving in the future.
Many thanks!
Icey
Thanx
I would like to say one BIG THANK YOU _n0p_ and everyone involved in DSC rom. Whitout DSC my dell would have obsolete ages ago.
You guys make android the epic mobile OS that it is. Whitout you guys it would suck.
Thank you again, hope to see you on other phone pages in the future. Im now moving on to Padfone2.
If ICS from Steve coming out for DS5....Streak will alive a long time

and very hope it's coming out with ICS/JB
Dell wants nothing to do with Android, instead banking on Windows 8 and Windows Mobile 8. Their loss. In both the tablet and smartphone spaces Microsoft runs a distant third with no signs of catching up.
