I can't seem to figure a few things out...
First, with regard to the Gallery. How do i remove the album previews for all the Google+ and Picasa web albums? I don't have any photos in any of them, yet they all show up and display 0 photos. (Screenshots available if desired) I've already turned off photo sync in google sync options.
Secondly, in Google Music:
I have "offline content only" mode checked, and have refreshed and restarted multiple times, yet it continues to display music that is not on my phone. Did this phone come stock with music built in? I've already turned off music sync in google sync options.
For the Play music, you need to check two parts. One is on the settings page which I think you've done already then the second one is on the main app screen where you have all the tracks. On the upper left near the play music icon choose "On Device" instead is "All music".
via xda app
To remove your online albums you have to go to https://picasaweb.google.com/home and remove the albums from there.
The "Hide unavailable music" option in Play Music settings will only hide these tracks when you are offline. Go into airplane mode to see the list refresh. To hide these when you are online, do as stankyou suggested.
Perfect! Thank you to both of you. Feeling Noobish.
To anyone that wants to know how to actually delete them, you have to go to the link above and go into the deepest sub album, and hit 'actions' and delete album.
sweet I was wondering this as well! thanks!
So, coming from a long tradition of rooting and fiddling around when I first booted the Z3c yesterday I was "impressed" by all the apps that are on the phone that I really, really don't need. Now, since we don't have a way to safely root the device I have deactivated as much as possible.

So, how did you "deactivate" the apps?

Click to collapse
You go into apps, then swipe to the right to the "All" tab. Click on the app you want to deactivate and there's a button that says "disable"
3 things:
- I personally always stop the app and clear the data
- Some apps you can not disable, that button is then greyed out.
- Some services might not work if you disable the wrong app, disable only if you are sure that you don't need that app. (might sound logic but I've heard many things in my xda-life..)

Out of curiosity which ones of the ones I deactivated do you use on a regular basis?
Of course, I need a browser, emails and a music player so I have nb pro, cloudmagic and spotify instead of chrome, gmail and walkman.

That was really more of a joke, like how can there be that much to disable and still have stuff left on the phone.. :silly:
But, I use Hangouts, the Xperia FB/Twitter are likely for integrating FB/Twitter into contact list (which I like because it pulls in pictures), gmail, chrome, Walkman (I still buy my music on CDs and rip to FLAC), GP Books (I have a couple magazine subscriptions)... the rest I'm not sure on.
What's the benefit to disabling an app if it's not running in the background? It's still taking up space on /system (not that you could use the space otherwise, unless rooted of course).
Be aware, Disabling Device Administrators triggers (some) Apps to get activated again!
So, just in case you wonder why say Chrome, Google+ etc. came back without you having activated them, please check this thread:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/z3-compact/help/deactivated-apps-getting-activated-t2889082
but if Idon't use those apps they will be running in background taking ram or just take memory from my internal storage?

I get a button that says "Force Stop" but no "Disable"
Edit: looks like some apps have disable and others dont.
Why do some applications automatically load up (IE Google Maps) even when I don't run it?

Because sometimes other apps trigger them to run in the background.

Cool, I added a description in my 1st post.
Hi Guys
I'm going insane figuring out how to switch between 2 open apps quickly. Let me give you an example: I run with my watch and I like listening to music from the watch during the run. This means I have 2 apps open: Runtastic (to register the workout) and Google play music (to stream music to headsets). Normally I keep Runtastic in foreground so I can see the stats of my workout at any time and Google music is running in backgroud. Sometimes, though, I'd like to e.g. skip a song and in order to achieve that I have to go to homescreen, display app drawer on the watch and browse for Google play music. After that I have to go the same steps in reverse to get Runtastic back to foreground. Is there really no easier way? Maybe there's app for it?
Robert
Try Gesture Launcher maybe?
https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.format.gesturelauncher
Good tip, thanks. I've given it a try already and looks promising. Can't believe google haven't taken care of similar native feature.
Hi I'm using 8227l device as from this thread https://forum.xda-developers.com/an...-firmware-chinese-7-head-unit-ac8227-t3931863
Recently Google maps app become to be too heavy for my device despite it has 2G ROM and I decided to try maps go app. Initially I was not able to run navigation because in horizontal view devices navigation button is hidden under the screen. I managed to fix this problem by using multi window mode - on half screen an app display all elements with navigate button.
So I have tested maps go app and it is enough as for my needs, unfortunately I encountered another problem - during playing announcements app kills all other music players . I researched an internet and found some solution with "apps mutex" options unfortunately it does not work for maps go, navigation in maps go applications. I have tried various players -stock, folder player, aimp - all of them are just killed when maps go play an announcement. I also tried to set different audio output in aimp but no luck - behavior of maps go is all the time the same.
In comparison to ordinary Google maps Maps go behaves differently - Google maps allow to mix audio from numerous apps while maps go just stop all other playing apps.
I am writing here because I have given up...
Any advice how to force maps go to collaborate with other apps?
Regards.
I'm fairly new to this, but I've run through Fire toolbox (it's amazing!) and installed Nova launcher. But I'm not sure how (or if it's possible) to do a couple things.
My tablet is mounted to the wall in my bathroom.
I'd like it to display time/temp/weather all the time except when I'm playing music. I use the Alexa voice commands to play my music (either from Plex or Amazon music) and it works great. But after listening to music, I'd like the tablet to return to displaying just the time/temp/weather widget.
I have the latest firmware (.23?). I am using the Weather widget from one of the weather apps (I forget which one), but I'd be happy to use any widget or way to display the info.
Any help would be appreciated.

Try to use Kustom Widget (KWGT) app from Google Play Store or APK.
keep up the great work!
