TSF Launcher Crashes - Nexus 7 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

TSF Launcher keeps crashing on my nexus 7 Device, I really don't understand why it keeps crashing it won't even boot up? I am on android 4.2, the reason I want this app is because a YouTuber Amando or Armando something will be releasing a Ubuntu theme for this launcher.

This was a problem with TSF, but latest version fixed this. You should upgrade to latest version.

YouTube tablet ui?

I'm running stock 4.2.1 with Franco.kernel 38. I really like stock and don't really want to switch. Is there anyway I'm able to force apps like YouTube to use the tablet ui versions other then the phablet/phone ui?

There's something called Xposed framework and a module for it called Xposed settings that can change the DPI of individual apps; however I don't know if it can change the layout though.

There's no such layout anymore. You can downgrade to version 4.1 of the app though

TouchWiz Launcher without Root?

I was wondering if anyone has the TouchWiz launcher working in their Nexus 4?
I'm just after the launcher nothing else. I've tried extracting it from other sources, I've tried three so far, and they all install but then crash.
Now you can get the Sony Xperia launcher so what's stopping the TouchWiz?

Full 4.4 KitKat experience

Hi there,
I recently purchased my nexus 7. I used to have an XDA account from years ago.
Basically, tonight I installed the AOSP ROM released for the nexus 7 on rootzwiki forums and I found that it had the normal launcher so it seemed like a jelly bean ROM with a white theme to it. Since then I discovered I was able to download and install Google Home and that enabled me to use the new UI with the transparent status bar and nav bar. So far I like it a lot. Its quite stable with a few bugs and it will get better.
And a video on YouTube of the ROM

Partially working Gapps http://d-h.st/EIM
I would add screenshots but the xda app doesn't let me

The keyboard comes out when going to home
The keyboard comes out when going to home. Do you know how to disable it? As it's annoying.

Nope, haven't been able to find out how to either. And for me landscape mode messes up icon labels for me

I believe it's the launcher. As you can see, the Search Bar is out of place too, I have the Google Experience launcher on my n4, and it doesn't look like that. I believe this launcher wasn't N7.2 ready.

That's exactly what I am waiting for as well. As much as I want to flash a 4.4 ROM, I'm just gonna patiently wait for an official release....can't wait!!!

KitKat + GEL launcher = slow piece of crap

I'm running unrooted, stock KitKat with GEL launcher and it's slow as hell.
Screen transitions, any changes to icons, Google now everything is slow as hell.

You might want to check other possibilities. I am using GEL launcher without significant slowing, a hitch here or there, but nothing too horrible.

Then don't use gel launcher. Use the stock one or nova beta which is themed like gel. There already threads about this. No reason to make a new one just to say it sucks. Anyways it's not meant for the nexus 10 so unless someone or Google optimizes it for our tablet it won't work well because of all the transparency

Well, you have nexus 5, you should know how fast it is running. Nexus 10 is not even close to that. It actually reminds me Samsung device bloated with touchwiz.
Sent from my Nexus 5 using xda app-developers app
Think about it this way. The device has to draw the entire screen 2 times one of those being a transparent layer while animating it... that will task any device... wouldn't be surprised to see the new N10 come out with 1080p just for this issue.. I don't think any SOC that can handle this resolution with transparency

Use Nova Launcher beta with transculent. Working great and smooooth
I take my words back. After "S" update the tablet seems to back being responsive again, even with GEL launcher.
I've recently tried Note 10.1 2014 and even though it runs on latest hardware its dead slow 'cause of touchwiz overkill.

Why don't you try Nova launcher or some other launcher. You might get a better experience.
Try reducing animations speed to .5x
