Hulu plus not working on franco kernel? - Nexus 10 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

anyone else experiencing this on the nexus 10? currently using r3 nightly and hulu plus gives me some streaming error "wv41" or something like that. I can browse through the app it just wont stream. I don't have any ad blockers, I've reinstalled the app, wiped my ROM, reinstalled the kernel and still no go.
any other kernel and custom ROM set up works fine (stock, KT AOSP, official AOSP ROMS, KTmanta kernel and stock kernal). any input would be appreciated.

I would suggest flashing franco's r2 just see if there's a difference. Some have found it to be more stable.
Edit: or his latest r4, just posted

Thanks for the advice, tried call versions. Still getting wv99 error. You know what's weird? Hulu runs fine on my nexus 4 with Franco kernel all versions. So sad.....

I cant get hulu plus working with Franco kernels either on r4 and r5. Reverted to stock kernel 4.2.2 and now works fine once again.

Kernels

Ok, another on of my idiotic questions. Lmao. Which kernel for CM7 latest stable, offers the best functionality. Best wimax and 3G speeds and GPS settings. I want to oc up to 1.2 ghz kinda how stock cm7 does it. What kernels fit that criteria and r the best in ur opinions?

I'm using x99 clocked at 1.2max/460min and it runs amazing. Got 30 hours out of my phone the other day before I turned it off at 2%

You realize there is no reason for a 460 min clock speed

I used x99 with CM 7.0.3.1 and WiFi wasn't working so I went back to 7.0.2.1 but I want to upgrade back up. Which kernel works best with the 7.0.3.1 build?
If you're on the latest nightlies, stick with stock for now, a it's 2.6.35 kernel that toast compiled himself, and the other kernels are 2.6.32.

yeah, i would stick with the stock kernel if you're running nightlies. hopefully we can get some of the custom kernels updated to 2.6.35 soon.
I'm running x99's kernal on CM 7.0.3.1 and it's running awesome

Good to hear. Just flashed back up to 7.0.3.1, restoring my apps, and WiFi works now. I might use this stock kernel for a bit but may use x99's again. DL'd the one he posted for CM 7.0.3.1
Also, after I flash the ROM, I reboot, flash the kernel, reboot and then flash Gapps or do I flash gapps, reboot then flash the kernel? I get confused
It goes ROM -> GApps -> Kernel -> Theme
I have had the most success with the x99 kernels.
Great news!
CM 7.0.3.1 and x99 work flawlessly, better than before actually, and LPP works better now too (i.e., hitting home now actually drops down the notification bar rather than just flashing the date for a split second)
If I use the Google apps from the market using the installer in cm7 do I still need to flash the GApps? Just curious?
Sent from my PG06100 using XDA App
Gapps have to be flashed to get the market at the very least. Updating the nightlies though, it automatically backs up the gapps, so no need to reflash

No need for all the rebooting, flash rom, gapps, kernel..... ALWAYS flash kernel last.

I'm using the stock CM-7 but I want to add some more stable elements - wifi, 4g and insane battery power - from the nightlies, without flashing a whole new rom. any suggestions?

[Q] Bluetooth Streaming with Cyanogenmod 10.1 - short breaks

Hi guys,
I use Cyanogenmod 10.1 shortly after I bought my Nexus 10 and had these reboots the whole time.
Usually I update once or twice a week to the current nightlys (depending on the changelog).
A problem I have from the beginning (with CM): When I stream music with Google Music to a Logitech Bluetooth receiver it works. But every 20-30 seconds I have a litte break in the playback. On my Galaxy S2 also with CM 10.1 I never had this problem.
What I did to solve the problem. Today I installed the stock Nexus 10 4.2.2 from Google and tried to reproduce the error. It worked fine. No problem at all.
Then I completely wiped the Nexus 10 again and installed the current nightly - from the scratch. Just installed Google Music and did a test. The same bluetooth problem again.
Ah and when I use a bluetooth keyboard the keyboard also loses connection time and again. Here the problem is even worse. When I´m are in web form the page gets reloaded and all I entered so far is gone...
Has anybody an idea?
I´m willing to give you all the information you need to help me (logcats etc.)
Thanks in advance
Marrtin

Hi and thanks for you answer.
Good idea. But I have no clue how to do that? And isnt´t the kernel always overwritten when I install a nightly of CM10.1?

Hmm - and where can I get the stock kernel from? Off course I found the whole stock firmware. But just the kernel out of it? And does this work together with CM?
Please make a bug report @ jira.CyanogenMod.org

I don't think you can pull just the kernel out of it... I use KTManta myself.

You can. :good:
If you download and unzip the official rom package from google, you will find another zip inside. Extract that, and you will see a different rom for each partition of your nexus 10. boot.img is the kernel, and it can be flashed from fastboot using command "fastboot flash boot boot.img".
Thanks,
EDIT: If the KTManta kernel doesn't suffer bluetooth streaming issues for anyone else, flashing it instead of stock should serve as an equally good test. The original reason I mentioned flashing the stock kernel is because I too have seen bluetooth streaming issues, both with CM10 and when using the stock rom with franko r12 kernel. I'm now running completely stock rom and kernel, and have no issues.

If I switch back to CM, I'l be sure to test it. I'm currently in the process of deciding just how much I love "CRT Off", which I don't know if CM has added yet
Is there a solution for this stuttering problem? I have tried many roms and kernels, but bluetooth stutters when wifi is on.

[Q] HW LED not working with Air Kernel

Hi there,
I hope this is the correct forum as i'm currently now allowed to post directly to the Air Kernel thread as a newbie. I noticed that with the latest Air Kernel #10 for the Nexus 4 (also with Franco's Kernel) the hardware LED doesn't work any more. I reverted back to stock and it works flawlessly.
Is this still a bug in these kernels or do I have to re-enable the LED with a special tool?
Works for me, using Purity ROM.

Hmm, this is strange: I now got it running to. I restored the old nandroid backup with the stock kernel and then i flashed Air kernel again. Now the LED works.

[Q] Custom Recovery and Kernel's

I'm curious what everyone thinks the best Recovery is for the Razr M and what are the best kernels as far as functionality, battery life, and speed.
I haven't played around with installing custom kernels and ive been using the CWM recovery on my razr m and im currently running the AOKP custom ROM.
Dead Calm, arghhh kernel

I think cwm is better than twrp but I am prejudiced by having wiped my extSD in one of the newest versions. See my signature link for an older BETTER version.
I like TWRP 2.6.0 and I had been having great performance with Carbon ROM 1.8 running the arrrghhh kernel. Currently though I'm having issues running arrrghhh kernel with the Carbon ROM 4.3 nightly (runs smooth with the provided kernel) and yes I did use the CM 10.2 version. I'm sure this will sort it's self after a few more updates.
***edit***
as of 8/16/2013 the arrrghhh kernel and carbon rom nightlies now work together properly

When installing a custom kernal, do i have to take any special steps such as wipe dalvic etc..? Or simply just flash zip from cwrm?
Making a backup and wiping cache and dalvik are always a good idea.

I'm using the US Cellular version which is the single SIM xt1607 and I've had no trouble unlocking boot loader and flashing twrp or any Rom, in stock Rom I was using xposed as well. Currently running axosp room with no issues.

Thank you bro. I previously used an MTK device and i know about flashing and rooting. But never used custom kernel. Can we use custom rom without any custom kernel? or is it necessary that i have to flash custom kernel for every custom rom?. Also give me links of bugless roms for our device?

I've been using the ASOPEtended Rom and have had no issues. Download can be found in the main Android development thread. As for custom kernels. I've been using squids kernel, but you can use the kernel built into the Rom with no issues

You flash the kernel just like the rom,I would flash the rom, then open gapps or bean gapps. Next I would flash supersu which you can find by doing a search of the forum, wipe dalvik cache, start finish setup then flash squid kernel. Also download kernel auditor from play store to get the most out of squid kernel. Helix kernel is another alternative based off squid kernel. Both squid and Helix allow you to change several options to improve battery life and performance.
