Hello, everybody!
Immediately apologize for my English
Asus Google Nexus tablet 7 Wi-Fi problem is USB, is not defined in the computer, the cable is good, only charged, rang from the connector to the board, all is well on the board to show where it is going, then do not know, can anyone share scheme, or tell what could be the problem. Many thanks in advance

"Hello everybody!
Is there anyone who can help me? Could someone measure the resistance of the working tablet in these resistors (see picture below) , and which output of chip D1 go into TEGRA
I'm not even sure what you are asking.
The USB connector data pins go through zero or more multiplexors to a USB PHY interface.
They might have some build out resistors in series, probably 22 ohms.
Why do you think that there is an internal hardware problem?
Use some USB scanning software on your desktop and see if it sees anything.
Mostly the connector USB itself is dead, replacing it should fix the job

Hello, I've an interesting hardware question for you, xda community
My HTC HD2 falled down from the table while it was in charghing (so with usb cable connected).
The usb port broke, so I improvised a teardown to check the micro USB port pins on the motherboard.
I reach to reconnect power pins, so the phone charges correctly, but i'm not been able to find alternative points for data pins becouse of broken electric paths on the MB.
Now I'm searching for alternative points to restore totally the usb functionality.
Anyone (with a broken HD2 MB) can check where electric paths go UNDER the usb connector on the MB? ..or suggest me where I can find alternative points like factory usb testpoints on the MB?
many thanks in advance and sorry for my bad english...
Hello everyone.
I am currently modding Samsung Galaxy Tab 2 7.0 for car instalation and everything seems to be great except I have problems with two things:
1) As the tab will be also my main music player I would need an USB host from time to time (check: http://www.expansys.si/samsung-usb-adapter-for-galaxy-tab-series-no-30-pin-to-sd-slot-229630/ ). It would be hard to switch that adapter with power supply just for the time I need to stick USB in it so I am asking if anyone knows if it is possible to have both active at the same time: power supply and USB host? Or if anyone has some other interesting idea how to transfer data to tablet asap from time to time? Please note that it will be really hard to reach it when installed.
2) Since the tab has back camera (which is useless to me in cars interior) i was thinking if there is any possible way to get that camera out of the tab with some extender or something? I've been looking at the interior of a tablet and the camera doesnt look to be attach in any other way than just a flat cable. Any ideas?
Thank you guys for your help in advance!

It sound like this will be a permanent installation.
Instead of €22 for an adapter, I'd rather use a breakout and hardwire:
http://www.kineteka.com/galaxy-tab-connector.aspx
This will also allow you to wire the earphone output also.
Yes, with many devices you can charge and do host mode at the same time.
It's mostly a question of convincing your device to play nicely with a non-standard operation.
You can just bring out the USB leads or hardwire in a hub for more options, like a keyboard.
I'd use a DC converter circuit board hardwired instead of a cigarette lighter adaptor.
Something like this, maybe: http://www.lightobject.com/LM2576-High-Input-7V40V-Switching-5V-Power-Module-Regulator-P549.aspx
I think somewhere in the Tab 10.1 forums, someone figured out the proper wiring for a powered USB host adapter. 90% certain that would also work on Tab 2 7.0
Correct me if I am mistaken but the Keyboard docks for Samsung Galaxy Tab 10.1, Tab 2 10.1 and Note 10.1 all provide keyboard and charging at the same time (and also audio out).
Well, This proves that charging and USB on the go can be made in a single device.
I was thinking in something a little more bold: integrating a full size USB port inside the tablet itself and a microUSB port just for charging with a conventional Android USB cable as the one that comes with my Galaxy S3 (but using the tablet charger, of course, due to the higher Amps).
I plan to make all the modifications inside the tablet and soldering the to the 30 pin port internally.
It sounds crazy but I think it could be done.
My only concern is about USB syncing with the computer. So I guess I should add a switch somewhere to change from USB host (pendrive, keyboard, etc) to USB slave (syncing with computer).
Also, it would be great too if when set in USB slave mode the added microUSB port could serve as syncing port (yeah, I don't like the docking port. It is good for docking, bad for everything else)
My previous tablet was an Acer Iconia Tab A500. It had plenty of interfacing options: a full size host USB, a syncing microUSB, a round two pins charging connector similar to the old nokia ones (allowing charging and using USB pendrive at the same time) and microHDMI out apart from a docking port and audio jack. The only thing I miss from this tablet is its connectivity
Any ideas, comments, suggestions?
Hi, dear friend!
don't you think it will make difficulties with the Tablet's slim design?
I'm interested in this... if you think you can do it, then I may help you do it...

Indeed. Nobody said it would be easy, but my Acer Iconia A500 had a full size USB port and it was no thicker than the Galaxy. I think it is a matter of finding the appropriate empty space. Of course, maybe there is not such space to allow the project to become true. I will open the tablet this weekend and then we will see.
In the meanwhile, if anybody has good reference of the 30 pin port, resistance values needed to activate USB OTG and HDMI and if it is possible to have both running at the same time, it would be great.
Have you read this thread:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1155065
In the first post, there are two images of the connections in the 30-pin cable...
I don't remember though... I have read it many months ago...
I just bought a 2nd gen unit to use in my car. I am planning to install it inside using OTG and all that fun stuff. I will also be running my audio out of the USB port (as the audio jack gets that feedback noise from the engine). The issue is the Nexus 7 barely fits in my dash. There is no room to plug a USB cable into the port (even an L shaped one). I know I could do QI charging and clean up the audio from the audio jack, but I need the USB port for the various in car features (turning on quickly and the like).
Looking at teardowns of the 2012 model, it appeared to be easy to move the USB port. In my own stupidity, I didn't know there was a 2012 and 2013 model. It appears the 2013 model is built very differently (h ttps://ww w.ifixit.com/Teardown/Nexus+7+2nd+Generation+Teardown/16072) and I am not sure how I would go about moving the port.
I am willing to leave the back off the unit, or even just drill a hole in it as it will be mounted inside my car permanently. But with how the cables are attached to the PCB that has the USB plug, I can't easily move that PCB (see: h ttps://d3 nevzfk7ii3be.cloudfront.net/igi/T1bQFwmsYTXKYX11). Is my only option to somehow create some kind of extender cable for the USB port, solder that onto the PCB and then put the USB port at the end of that? Am I missing an easier method?
Thanks! (Sorry for the non-clickable links. Stupid anti-spam features won't let me use links yet).
Did you ever figure this out?
Hi,
I recently purchased a usb cable for my android head unit and the lead doesn't work. I didn't buy the unit so I don't know the brand etc. The unit was in the car when I bought the car.
I'm guessing the wires that plug into the usb connection are in the wrong order. I have no way of finding out the correct order. Does anyone on the forum know the correct order or even show me a picture of their usb cable.
I've bought 2 cables so far, neither of them have worked and they cost close the £100. It's very frustrating that I can't get them to work
Thanks in advance
What does the seller suggest and what happened when you tried that.
Also, with no information and detailed screenshots, how did you want help
When I plug in the usb cable and try any basic usb connections like phone chargers usb sticks etc. Nothing happens at all.
I've attached a screenshot from a product guide I found online if that helps.
If anyone knew which pins were for data transfer or voltage, that could help me loads.
Thanks
Measuring is the magic word. 8 pins will be connected in the original cable. (VBUS)+5V 2 times and 2x GND
...then you only have to find out what is D- and what is D+ for the data lines.
If you don´t want to measure: Open the magic box and have a look at the pins from the connector inside.
Just with your picture no one can tell anything. Each supplier does it´s own magic.
By the way... Connecting that wrong, may damage the internal USB-Hub and you can buy a new mainboard... just to mention. Trying around is not a good idea.
