Whenever I flash a new nightly I lose the Trinity kernel and will have to flash the kernel again. Any way to get around this issue or do I stop flashing every nightly? Will I have to flash the kernel every time after flashing new nightly or a new ROM? Am currently running CM 10.1 JB 4.2.1 on Nexus 7. Some input would be greatly appreciated. Thanks.

Nope, You'll have to keep flashing the kernal.
You can use TWRP, which allows batch flashing, or the CyanDelta app (greatest invention ever for nightlies) will automatically flash additional zips that you choose.

I have both TWRP and CyanDelta installed. I will try your suggestions. thank you very much for the info.
Just an update. Used Cyan Delta and it flashed both in one shot. Worked flawlessly. Thanks.

I'm thinking of flashing Trinity kernel on my Nexus 7. If I have troubles after flashing the Trinity kernel and want to revert back to my present kernel do I restore a nandroid backup or is there something else I have to do to get present kernel back? Am currently running CM 10.1 jb 4.2.1 on my Nexus 7. Any input would be greatly appreciated. Thanks.
Just do a dirty flash (flash CM10.1 again without factory reset, just wipe cache and dalvik). Your kernel will be overwritten.

yup, thats the easiest way. but you dont have to wipe anything, not even dalvik or cache. you can always extract the boot.img from the cm rom and flash it via fastboot too.
Thanks simms. I'm still trying to figure everything out just got my Nexus for Christmas.

Hello XDA,
I am currently running the beta firmware for the oppo find 5, X909EN_13_130531_Beta
I am wanting to install faux123 kernal, meaning i need to install a new recovery as im currently running the stock one,
if i do install CWM and install the faux123 oppo find 5 kernal,
what will happen when oppo releases a new beta firmware? will i be able to get the update? how would i go about getting the update?
thanks guys.
much appreciated.
I think that while updating to a newer beta, the kernel by faux will be simply replaced by the new stock kernel inside the update

Thats true stock will overwrite. Then you should be able to flash faux123 kernel over stock again, most likely anyways unless its a major upgrade to like 4.2 then I'm sure faux will release an up to date kernel himself..

Yep, and actually ... I keep saying this but, the best part about this phone is being able to get stock firmware updates via system recovery, stock or custom. When a new update comes out just download the patch or full zip file and put it on your phone, boot into recovery and flash. As mentioned your custom KernEl will be overwritten by the stock kernEl when you update. But.. both CWM and TWRP allow you to keep your custom recovery when updating, thus allowing you to easily reflash Faux123 kernel if you wanted!

Hi xda members!
i am a noOb when it comes to anything android. Just switched from iOS. I did however manage to softbrick my s4 when attempting to flash the latest pacman rom for jfltecan. Nevertheless in the end I managed to restore to stock TW via Kies and factory reset. Guess what i'm asking is that is there a stable (daily driver stable) version of parandroid for Samsung Galaxy S4 SGH-I337M on Fido(rogers) in canada? I'm really looking forward to using the Halo))) function on the rom, i just love pie control. I was running CM 10.1 and it's a fantastic rom, but i'm looking for more features and no bloat ware. Thanks!
Another Question: Can i run i9505 roms on my i337m phone? from what i've read, it's definitely possible, after all the i337/m are the same as the i9505.
Both pacman and paranoids nightlies right now are 4.3. A few people are having boot issues on the 4.3 for pacman and had to switch from TWRP to another recovery to get the nightlies working

What's wrong with TWRT? Should I switch to CWM? Can someone confirm that parandriod is working on i337m?
Okey so I can confirm that PA 3.96 jfltecan is working 95% of the time. So far so good... I did have to pull out the battery and hard restart a couple of times. I got stuck on blank welcome freaked me out. But just give it give minutes. I'm running CWM latest recovery. Tried TRW? (Sry forgot the spelling) got stuck on bootloop. BTW pacman and PA 4.3 didn't work for i337m as of today.

Noob Here. I have a CM 10.2 Nightly flashed (last weeks version) and I wish to update as it contains some fixes. Have I got to factory reset, wipe cache..etc? or do i simply flash the new nightly? also will I lose all my apps?
Thanks

If you just flash the new nightly (and I'd reflash the gapps too) you don't need to wipe anything and you won't loose ant data

Ok cool. I have couple of questions if you don't mind.
What do I flash first? ROM or GAPPS?
I heared some nightlies have issues, is there somewhere I can look to find them?
Will I need to reflash Franco Kernel?
thanks

Hi,
Yesterday I went to flash CyanogenMod 11 on my Galaxy s4 (GT19505) and it wouldn't work. The first time, it started then went to a black screen. I turned my phone back on to find it wouldn't boot up at all (I waited over 10 minutes for it). I can access recovery mode, and when I did it again, it said md5 couldn't be found.
I used Odin to flash the most recent CT auto root and then moved over TWRP (with Odin) and I had no trouble with these.
I accidentally moved TWRP 2.5 over instead of 2.7. I was running 4.4 KitKat on my phone. Could it be 2.7 isn't compatible with CM 11?
Help!?
It should just work.
Flash the latest TWRP or Philz.
Perform a full wipe.
Flash Cyanogenmod.
What version are you trying to flash from Cyanogenmod? Use the nightlys and if one doesn't work try the version before that one.
ps you can skip the step nexttime about flashing cf-auto root. You don't have to do this. You can just flash the recovery you want.

I'm using a stable version. I haven't downloaded any latest ones. How would i do that if I can't access the phone? Boot it to download then go from there?
are you sure you (even) flashed a (compatible) kernel?

Is there any difference between 19500 and 19505? I'll try a new CM download...knowing my uncertainty I probably got an incompatible rom.
How stable are the nightlies?

You should only flash a rom for YOUR model phone, and for me the nightlies were stable enough to use.

So I redid TWRP, now what about CM 11? TWRP uses the jfltexx in its name...do I just use Odin to move CM?
So, I installed TWRP 2.7 and it worked. All is good, currently enjoying CM!!!
Now the battery is saying it's at 0%...how do I fix that?
Now my password isn't working for some reason. I did a restore with TWRP and now I can get into my phone. Fix?
