PSP as kf game controller - 7" Kindle Fire HD General

There is an old thread http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1319812 which asks the question. Can we use a psp as a wireless controller? PPjoy lets you connect to your p.c and lets you control your p.c. Unfortunately im at the learning stage of android development and feel this is too big of a task for me. Is there anyone out there that would be able develop this on the android side. I dont think you would have to do anything to the psp side of things. that being said ive never developed an app for psp either.
im pretty sure im not the only one wishing he had opted for the 7" hd version purely for gamepad (ps3) compatibility

I must say, this would really be outrageous. You might want to check out this thread, its pretty interesting im must say!
Its all about the "built in" ps3 controls with android...Including some people wanting to get the controllers working i believe...

A little root round on Droid Forum will show you the guy who set this petition up has had his heart broken by the guy he was backing to create this emulator...it's quite upsetting...he's been jilted for an iPad

[Q] Pocket Sized Gamepads For Galaxy S

I'm looking for a small gamepad that connects via bluetooth or usb cable to the Galaxy S for the purpose of playing NES/SNES/Genesis roms. Does anyone know if something like this exists?

You here to make the biggest announcement since this phone came out?
Last I checked Wiimotes weren't working due to the change in the Bluetooth stack...
Wiimotes SHOULD work once CM6 comes out, but until then I'm not sure. maybe a PS3 controller? but that's a bit complex and not pocketable haha
I can't tell you when Ryan Frawley is going to release a 3.0 wiimote (or if our vibrants will somehow become able to use the old version) but I can say that in the meantime I have an idea as to how to construct something to tie them together like a PSP.
I have seen others using GPS holders and stuff to the same effect, this just seems like it would be a little less akward to use, so long as you can get your phone released in time to answer a call (or just use a bluetooth, heh).
Attached is a picture of the idea I had, anyone that wants to make it happen is free to. No patents or anything here.
Wiimote does not work on the Vibrant. Works wonderful on the N1.

Why do you think wiimotes will start working with CM6. The hardware in this phone is different than every other Android phone on the planet. This is Bluetooth 3.0. Is CM6 going to downgrade it to 2.1?
According to this post the Zeemote works with the psx emulator. I don't knowif it will work with the nes/snes ones or not. I don't know how well it works as a remote either, just remember reading about this the other day when I saw your post an thought I'd share.
http://android.modaco.com/content/s...mote-works-on-psx4droid-with-gamepro-drivers/
ziimote should work.
otherwise im waiting for CM6 to come out, then im planning on making a slimmer/lighter wiimote.
Based on the view count of this thread, someone could make a lot of Benjamins if they patented, designed, and produced a pint-sized gampad with bluetooth that would work with the Galaxy S. I wish I had the money or I'd do it myself because whoever does could make some hefty cabbage. I know I'd be first in line to buy one...I can't stand the on-screen controls for the emulators, but they are better than nothing at all of course.
Now this is worth a look. Anyone try it out on the Galaxy S?

ROFL that's an awesome idea! Great find! I will definately have to try that, its much cheaper and easier since there are hundreds of those plastic wheels running around.
Its not a hardware problem, its software. Samsung put proprietary bluetooth stack in their version of android they loaded on the galaxy s phones. Its imcompatible, it doesnt support the bluetooth mode that the gamepads need to operate properly. thats why using a vanilla rom, or a rom that utilizes the stock google bluetooth stack (like CM6) works fine.
derek how do we know that? did you take touchwiz off your phone?
i think its a little deeper than that... we can ask eugene tho... he is building a 2.1 stock rom on his phone... we could ask him to try to hook up a wiimote

[deleted]
I'd donate a few bucks as well if I could get my wiimote working on my vibrant. It's not about the lack of physical keyboard either, as I hated using the keyboard on my g1 to play emulators. You don't get the same feel nor same fun factor on anything but a controller made for gaming.

PSFreedom for Android? Is it possible devs?

hi guys,
I don't know if you're familiar but for some time there are some options available to jailbreak your PS3.
The smart guys of the world managed to do so via an USB Dongle and as well via N900 and it seems PalmPre.
Would this be possible via Android/HD2? I suppose it should..
Below are some links so that you devs can have a look at it:
http://psx-scene.com/forums/showthread.php?t=65289
http://psx-scene.com/forums/showthread.php?t=65355
Update: it seems someone is working on an Android version: http://psx-scene.com/forums/showthread.php?t=65246
there's a version for Nokia N900.. hope a port for Android is coming up next
great http://www.ps3news.com/PS3-Hacks/ps-jailbreak-tiny-clone-android-psgroove-port-in-development/
it's absolutely incredible what the devs and technology can do today. wish I knew all that much to do it myself!
this would end up being a app not a build , better in general section ....or better yet in the android general where all those developers are

i found this link to screens of the guy who says he is working on an android version.

I really want to help program, I am on the github and reviewing the code and seeing if ill be able to convert it myself. i have some free time so ill fool with it.
omg thats so amazing! after this all done all i need is the ps3 lol

i have read that android must be on the root of the phone. so hd2 has no android root. i'm a noob so if i say it wrong than someone correct me.

Let's just hope the smart devs will get this on our beloved HD2s. I have complete faith in them! Just look around and you'll see impossible is nothing!
But I read in a website there that people were getting banned, so it kinda beats the purpose if you want to play online games. You would only be able to play story mode games with your internet disconnected.

Actually no.. These things aren't actual illegal..
I remember some lawsuit from apple which they lost on this firmware modding.
All this PSFreedom thing does is load the PS3 into debug mode.
Don't really see what's illegal about that..

exactly. I'm rubbing my hands in anticipation of all the homebrew that'll be available. Proper mkv playback, better PS1/2 emulation than the original fat PS3's "hardware" PS2 emu capabilities, snes emulation, better browser (firefox?)... once it's opened up to run anything, the possibilities are endless
oooh yeaah.. 1080p mkv in PS3 willbe juuust right.. I hope someone will port xbmc to ps3..

[Q] Any chance to raise a project Xperia Play - PS3 pairing?

I've been searching the net for a solution for pairing our xperia play to ps3 so we can use our xperia play as a ps3 controller.
I'm sure there're lots of people here who can donate to this project.
I'll donate my lifetime filesonic.com premium account and money too.
PSP, PS Vita, Sony Vaio and Bravia screens can be paired to ps3 so why our xperia play not?
Is it maybe the bluetooth stack. That's where I would start.
Sent from my R800x using XDA App
I'm not a developer nor programmer so I'm looking for a recognize developer who be able to develop such feature.
I'm pretty sure it's impossible unless you have the pairing keys from the ps3 and even with that someone needs to completely reverse engineer the protocol. So I don't think anyone would put that much work into something with little gain.
i didn't thought it's such a really hard project to do.
i think it's a app that SE ought to develop.

You lose R2, L2, R3, and L3, so I don't see the point of this.
Is the request for remote play pairing? I would love that. Or is it for pairing xplay as controller for ps3?
xperia play is still more compatible than the old PSP in the above two cases - at least it has the right (not just left) analog stick and maybe under some scenarios tapping on the touch pad right and left centres could emulate R3 and L3 buttons (or R2 and L2 as an option) so I say it would be great to use for PS3 remote play.
Regarding yet another case: PS3 controller connecting to xplay - I know there is an app for this but because i don't have the cable to connect the two I have not tried it yet but planning to do it with my sony tablet s first as it sucks for gaming without the hardware controls.
I hope the above helps.
hi ps3taker,
i mean to use xperia play as a ps3 controller but i'll be glad if we can use our xperia play as a remote play.

Have you played a PS3 game lately? While this may be fine for some games, many games use the L2 and R2 triggers heavily, and having to press them with your thumbs instead of your forefinger can make a game quite tough to say the least.
Sounds like a good tech demo but I just don't see the need to put extreme effort into it.

Welfare tv out. Your xperia is a console now

Its very simple and works great on my phone.
What you need,
A remote client like teamviewer
A laptop
A tv
Set up your remote c
Software so that you can view your phones screen via laptop, hook up laptop to your tv,
Pwn nubs on the bigscreen
Also works good for phones that are touchpad only becaue your hands arent in the way anymore
How do I set it up?
I see my desktop on my phone, how do I switch it around?
Look for droid vnc server on market, it shows the phones screen by default
Easiest way to set it up would be rtfm
What about refresh latency? I've seen Droid VNC but it didn't refresh fast enough...

damn!....thats definitely a possibility. I hope not.
The resolution looks great I just wish it wasn't soooo slowwwww....there's gotta be a good combo of apps/programs that runs fast
EDIT: just f*cked with it for a couple hours.....android side I tried droid vnc server and remote desktop add on...both worked well connecting to PC and vice versa....PC side I used tightvnc and vncviewer.....both worked well also...
BUT yeah, the display on MY pc of my phone's screen was tinted RED, and was really slow...like 1-3 second delay on everything....
there's gotta be a way to optimize this! I wanna play emulators on my TV from my phone goddamnit!
cool, gonna follow this thread. i guess you need a pretty f-ing good internet speed to get it to run good enough for fast games.

I just guessing here, but I would imagine that the HDMI out option is available just on the developers kit. During the demo of Desert Winds at E3. There was a port connection between the headphone jack and the usb port. I have to assume that port was placed on the dev. kit to allow for demo of the game during development on a bigger screen. The retail version of the phone probably does not have this port connection. If it did it would be a nice selling point.
HDMI out is in the service menu, but they removed the necessary hardware for the commercial release.
Hardware-wise it's not possible to enable anything because it's not there
eros78 is probably right, the service menu option is just a remnant from the dev kits.
