Motorola just sent me an email asking to participate in a soak test on 4G.
I no longer have my 4G having switched to ATRIX 2 but thought someone would be interested to know there is an update coming. Hopefully ICS for which I unsuccessfully waited so long as well...
What???? Maybe yiu can say YES! And see what they want... but I think its a mistake.

If you're not too skittish about RSD Lite, this is how I do it and it works like a charm (about 3 or 4 times now) but make for freakin' sure you grab the right SBF or you're screwed.

No mistake but I can't participate since they want the imei of the phone I don't have. I am letting you know cause I really appreciate ATRIX 4G community on xda.
If the bill or other us developers (I don't think they will allow a participant from abroad) wants to take my place - PM me.
I believe every email link they sent is unique and allows just one participant.

Yes it's for real! They want to SOAK Test! Most probably it's going to be 2.3.7! Maybe some minor battery fix, wifi improvements. So pretty sure it's not ICS. Anyways, good to SOAK test. I've applied to SOAK test. I hope they'll roll out the update soon.

I know everyone is all in a hurry to get the OTA for FROYO. I also would like FROYO but enough is enough with all the posts. The fact is most of the people on this forum wont get the OTA anyway because they will either wait for a build from eugene or bionix or they cant get OTA because they are not running stock firmware anyway. Just be patient. I would rather wait till a good version of FROYO without a ton of bugs comes out than have them push some crap FROYO on us and then have to have 10 updates to make it work correct. This is just my thought Flame me if you want. Me personally Im waiting for eugene or bionix to come out with the versions they will mod anyway. So do us all a favor and stop with the I heard through my uncles cousin twice removed about FROYO.

If the Defy can do it, why can't we? It has a locked bootloader too. I bet I sound pretty stupid because there is something I'm missing, but oh well...

A quick glance says that they're using update.zip files to clobber /system, so they're not touching the bootloader. So this should be doable, although I believe that our CWM could use some more work.

If it's doable, there probably is someone already doing it, just keeping quiet till a working version is reached. This phone is quite new, I think we just need some patience...

Anyways this is 2.3.3 they have running on the Defy, and I had no clue this was even close to possible. We got some pro dev's? Pay the guy who ported Cyanogen to the Defy money for an Atrix and money for a monthly AT&T bill and maybe he'll do it

Yeh, you are probably right. And as next step would be understanding the current cm7 defy port and maybe try do to the same thing using cm7 harmony as a base.
I could try doing it, I'm a quite experienced java developer (6+ years) and wouldn't have problems learning it BUT, as I already sold my old Nexus One, Atrix is my current phone and I don't wanna risk it... =/

Yes it means the real thing is coming in about a fortnight (according to what I've read, pls feel free to correct) after the SOAK testing starts
for those of us already unlocked and running a version of 4.5.91, is it even worth the hassle of trying to sign up for the soak, and get our phones ready? (if even possible with the possible brick above our heads)
or just stay with what we got and continue riding the wave? lol
I'm not signing up for this soak. Figure after all the hard bricks and such its probably not a smart idea to try the ota over an unlocked bl/ken's gb.

In the survey you completed previous to this one you agreed to keep all communications confidential. If you selected "no" to that question you would never have received this new notification.

Probably 6 months. It will be on the newly released tablets first. Then, sometime later, it will be officially pushed to current owners.
But then again, nobody really knows except the manufacturers.
Experimental Roms, will be out before then. But NOBODY is going to personally contact you. You'll have to check the dev threads on your own
As of right now Acer has not made any announcements regarding ICS to the A500 tablets. But like it was previously said, doesn't mean we wont hear about it in a few months.
AHHHH its all over the net.. acer has said mid January.But that does mean for sure we will get it then.. they always seem to be a bit behind..AS far as the dev of rom in this forum..
I hope i am wrong but seems they are stuck with driver issue for GPS CAMERA AND CAMCORDER.. AS well as a few other things.. I think these are proprietary to the acer tablet. this could make us have to wait for acer to release a rom or drivers specific for this tablet .

I found a ROM called Thor v14. After flashing the ROM, It looks great on my a500.But I have no idea that the ROM is based on real ICS. Somebody told me it was based on android 3.2.

The latest rumors now go that the A500 and PB's G100 will expect the ICS update coming April. It may well be that Acer kept its promise they made in January when they pushed the launchdate to April.

if its really for our phone then its definitly not leaked...the 2 leaks before werent posted in the firmware section before...if its true then im pretty sure it gonna be something thats working pretty well

Oh now that would be sweet! It looks like maybe they put it there to tease us since the download link just redirects to the firmware page and they didn't finish the firmware designation. I'm thinking it's legit, they're just toying with us a little first. At least that's what I'm gonna tell myself since I would love to have ICS for Christmas.

I work third shift so I'm up all night usually anyway. I will be watching this site like a hawk until the link is gone or it links to a file. Here's hoping we get a stable ICS ROM with working RIL, Mic, and everything else.

My thoughts exactly. I figure if we get a stable RIL Codeworkx will probably have a CM9 beta out in a day, two at most. The work to build the beta probably won't take more than a couple hours. Regardless of whether he releases a beta right away though, I'd love to have a good ICS ROM to play with. Just having it will buoy my spirits for the holidays.

You have to go the firmware page and search for gt-i9100. It's about 2/3 of the way down. It doesn't have a region on it so searching was the only way I could find it. This is not a link to an actual firmware yet, so keep your fingers crossed that they'll get it up soon.

Unless there is some larger context at play here, nowhere does that tweet say we will get ICS this year. It's stating that Samsung made a lot of updates this year, and when you think about it they have. We started with the KG series and now we are at KL. I think that's what the tweet is talking about.

That's what I got out of it too. In fact, I found a tweet where somebody asked if they were gonna release another leak for sgs2 before Christmas and SamMobile said they didn't plan to. Kinda makes me wonder about this firmware posted, but I guess we'll see how it goes.
what i wonder is why they put the "firmware" behind kl1 and kk5. what i think is that there are 2 things that can happen. either its written by mistake and they gonna delete it soon or it will be the first fully working ics build. a leak it cant be because the other 2 leaks werent posted in the firmware section. and a mistake it cant be either im pretty sure about that. i think from now on till tonight 12pm they will upload the first working ics software. lets hope the best.
