13/01 I was trying to install ubuntu on my Iconia, after updated my bootloader to V8 again. The first problem I had is that most of the files are offline now and I can't try all the options that users oferes.
I want to make it work without external-SD, 'cause I haven't got one now. I used this post to install it, but i get several problems when it is running.
There're some pictures of the error code, if someone can help me to enjoy Linux (Ubuntu if it's possible) on my Iconia I will be eternally thankful!
Thanks for advance!

Hey guys, has anyone been able to get DDMS on Eclipse to recognise their A500 tablets?
Been very difficult to get stack traces of crashed apps without it.
P.S. I forgot to mention that this is on a Mac.
Yes, DDMS is working with my A500 on a Mac with Galileo.
I have recently gotten ubuntu working on my G2. I have ran into 3 problems though...
1) after rebooting my phone and going into terminal (to start ubuntu up) i type
"cd /sdcard/ubuntu"
then
"bootubuntu"
Which goes off without a hitch, but when i start up the VNC so i can use the GUI, i get a problem. all the commands go through but it makes a new localhost.. which gives me problems because A) i dont wanna setup a new VNC everytime i wanna use ubuntu and B) When the new localhost:2 or localhost:3 (depending on how many times i run "bootubuntu") i dont know the port its calling for or whatever information its needs for to connect to it with VNC. (to see what i mean by this look at the screenshot i took!
AND SECONDLY...
2) WHEN i can get into ubuntu (the only way ive gotten it to work is when i use it the first time) (ie. whenever i wanna use it i delete the ubuntu SD card contents and recopy them over and re-run "sh install.sh" this doesnt take long to run but it does take long to copy over 2 GB of stuff to the SD card) Which definately isnt the way its supposed to be used everytime i wanna use ubuntu. BUT BUT BUT, when i do this and it works, the keyboard inputs in ubuntu or completely screwed up! Ive yet to find the answer online so if anyone can help me this would be much appreciated, but not useful if i cant fix my first problem...
THIRDLY...
3) When i try to use USB storage after running ubuntu in VNC it simply wont connect, I have tryed and tryed again. The only way to fix this is to reboot my phone, which is when i found my problem with restarting and not being able successfully restart ubuntu without recopying the files over..
ANY HELP IS APPRECIATED!!!
This is hardly the place for this post. You would get a much better response if this was in the G2 and Desire Z Android Development Forum.
Either way, I'd say you should try creating a virtual partition on your SD card and see how that works out.
will do, mods, please delete this post!
Posting your thread in General, Q&A AND Dev will not get your results. It will get you banned.
does anyone think it'd be possible to run ubuntu on the x8?
Since the devs unlocked the bootloader it is possible to run ubuntu...(I guess)
Wait for someone to make a tutorial or search in google for running ubuntu on other android devices!
I tried but with no luck. x8 kernel do not support loop something.. I managed to start it in command line (or I think so) but main desktop did not load. But it is possible overall on android. Tried androlinusDOTcom tutorial
I never tried, but I can't find a -convincent- reason to do it...
Why ubuntu? there are way better distros for ARM/embedded devices
Maybe try this thread: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=17379419#post17379419. I used Debian from HTC G1 and ran it on X8, it is working just fine, even when I also got an information, that my X8 is not supporting loop and ext2. Maybe You'll find it usefull, because this is almost one universal way to run every distribution with prepared debootstrat image. If You have some more questions let me know.
I will try to run Ubuntu in the nearest future, but now I'm happy because of Debian running . It is only a chroot, not a full replacement of Android, but it can run most of tools.
Hey guys, i wanted to ask if anyone had managed to install windows or ubuntu images on our Defy with CM7 running on it.
If yes can u help me telling me the steps so i can make it too?
thanks in advance and sorry for my english
i heard that someone run Ubuntu on his phone, but it's very difficult to use it, because of touchscreen interface. I think that running windows is impossible on this phone, except some WP7 mods i would suggest staying on Android
Yep, I have run Ubuntu. It is basically run by mounting an ubuntu image to a loop device mount point. And the GUI is accessed using vnc. Dunno about windows!
You can also try out windows..bt its just windows 95 desktop version..
And pretty easy to achieve

just purchased Acer Aspire P3..Anyone who uses this Device? does this needs to be root/jailbreak? or what mods can we do for this device?
http://www.acer.com/aspirep3/en_US/
Its a normal x86 device, no jailbreak or mods required. Has its own thread somewhere already I think.
i cannot find any thread that says Acer Aspire p3...

Could you write toturial. Especially how to get to work vol+ vol- when choosing the system during boot.
I did like in this thread:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=42502143
Everything works except the buttons (vol+) and can not do without an external keyboard to choose the system (win or android).
Thank you.

Did you try to install Acer's drivers (available on it's website) ?
I've just installed Chromium OS on my P3. If anyone is interested, it's with "cloud ready".
Everything works great (Wifi, Bluetooth, battery, sound, video, touchscreen).
(I haven't tested the cameras yet).
