I've tried CWM touch and standard as well as TWRP, and zip's are no longer visible to any of them? I'm on CM10.1 nightly.
Any thoughts on a fix?

Ate you pointing the recovery to the correct directory? Also, did you update your recovery to the latest version?

Yes and Yes, and i've tried other directories. Oddly if using TWRP's file manager I can see the files, but not when I choose install from .zip Unless there is a directory to the files that i'm not aware of. I've tried 0 and legacy
I feel like there is probably something really obvious, but it's very frustrating.
FIXED
I backed up the content of my "SD" Card and deleted all files, I deleted both 0 folder and legacy folder and then put a zip back in to see if it was viewable, and sure enough it was.
Doesn't make any sense, but it worked so good to go

I just noticed that if I browse to /sdcard/clockworkmod/backup I cannot delete any of the backups. I I've tried with ADB and Terminal Emulator and ES File Explorer. Same error on all 3. Having the same issue on my brothers N7. Any ideas? Anyone else tried this and not have issues?

I should mention I have tried fixing permissions. No luck.
You have to boot into recovery and install a zip file to delete them, it's in a thread here ( just use search ) or I can put in in my drop box. Only thing is it deletes all if you have more than one. Hope this helps.

Why is it that way? That's weird. I also just tried changing permissions on a /system/app file and also got denied.
Not sure why we can't do it easily like other devices. This is the only way I've found that works. I got the zip file in a thread here somewhere, works well for me! No issues.

try deleting backup from file explorer..i tried ES File Explorer https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.estrongs.android.pop&hl=en
I recommend to use TeamWin recovery.
CWM stores backups as a collection of blobs. So there is no shingle file that corresponds to a backup. On other devices you can choose to use tar backups, but not on the N7.
I ended up with 2 GB used by blobs when I only had one backup. That's when I switched to TWRP, which does the smartly thing if sitting backups as tar files.

Yes, I forgot to mention that I use an older version of cwm that doesn't have the blob issues the newest has. I will likely switch to twrp in time, I like how you can store backups to USB with otg!

I've been trying to do a backup of my 4.2 stock rom and its not working. It goes through the motions like it successfully completed but it doesn't save. Anyone have any suggestions?

Check in /data/media/ for a clockworkmod or CWMR folder (not sure what it names it's folder, I use TWRP)
Pretty sure it's due to 4.2 changing the file structure

Most likely it's backing up but it's backing up to /data/media which you do not have access to once you are in Android. Can you see it when you tap "Restore" in CWM but not in ROM Manager? If this is the case I wrote up a solution for this that solved this issue for me http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1991657.
I know it not backing up because I have the same amount of storage that I had before the backup.

I just flashed cwm touch and when I was about to root. I put my zip file in the phone but when I booted to recovery, it doesn't see the zip file and the other folders that I have in my phone. Anyone who can help me on this? Because of this issue I am not able to flash a ROM. You're help will be greatly appreacited. Thanks!

Open the folder called 0. It should be in there
Cwm uses the true root for storage and not the directory that android sees.
Cwm default directory - /sdcard/
Android default sdcard directory - /sdcard/0/

I accidently deleted the ROM and also all contents on SD card.
Can anyone please guide me to copy a ROM to my Nexus 4?
I am currently in Clockwork mod recovery.
Any help please
Update: I downloaded android-sdk , extracted it and when I type in adb devices
It shows no device
Well I fixed it.
I rebooted the phone and it automatically installed the ROM

I want to take my TWRP backup and move it off site, however I have explored /data/media/TWRP and i have pulled the backups from there but I seem to only have the boot, and recovery.emmc.win and all the MD5 hashes I have generated when i made the backup. But I don't seem to have the actually data and system backup (the most important). I know I have made the backup because it's still there in TWRP as a recovery option, and I have used it to revert from a broken 4.4 update to my old 4.3.
I checked data/media/TWRP which contains files none of which are my system and data backup
and I checked the data/media/0/TWRP and it contains nothing.
Any ideas where a huge 2.4 gig file could hide and where I could find it?
Thanks.

isn't /storage/emulated/0 a link towards sdcard/twrp? Eitherway the TWRP folder in there is empty.
Thanks for the suggestion though.

Found it, it was in the Data/Media/TWRP although hid itself once I did the Chmod for some reason. It showed back up again if I booted into TWRP recovery mode and retreived it from there using USB debugging.
