anybody else having trouble not getting ANY notifications? Is there anything else I can do other than:
reinstalling the app numerous times
logging in/out numerous times
checking/unchecking each notification setting in the app numerous times
I have to manually check to see if I sell anything or get a message.
thanks!!
I've tried everything, un install, reinstall, clear data, turn off notifications, turn them back on, nada.
ATT Galaxy S3 with CM10 stable
I think its a 4.2.1 issue. I was on AOKP on my GS3 and it didn't work, now i'm on my Nexus 4 and it still isn't working.
Interesting. I conduct business on ebay so ebay notifications are a must. A few times it gave me problems but nothing an uninstall was sure to fix
Sent from my Nexus 4

I can confirm this, unfortunately. Maybe just one of the handful of things not working with 4.2.1

Gmail refuses not to vibrate when I receive an e-mail. Maybe I'm overlooking something but I've definitely set it to 'never' under settings but it still does it. Rather annoying.
Updated my Galaxy Nexus to 4.2 and I have the same issue. Is anyone else having this problem?
Yes, I'm having the same issue. Updated to 4.2 and can't get Gmail to stop vibrating when I get an email. Even tried disabling messaging vibration in case somehow those two were mingling, no luck.
Would love to hear if this is ROM or 4.2 specific, or if other people are having this issue.

Good to hear I'm not alone. I'm fairly certain it's either this new Gmail app or something to do with 4.2...
Hopefully we'll see some movement on this in the next week or so... if not I'm going to reflash and see if that fixes this, which is most often does.
Same issue here. I have a custom 4.2 ROM flashed with this problem. I even tried reverting back to stock and reflashing. That did not solve the problem.

I have the Samsung GalaxyS5 from Verizon. Recently I noticed I have been getting notification sound/vibrate when I don't even get a notification. I have tried what seems to be everything and just can't seem to get it to stop. I also noticed that it happens every 5 minutes - on the dot. Even when I put my phone on silent it still vibrates. I know this in right, I'm thinking I have some type of bug or virus. I have the Verizon Protect which scans for viruses and such. According to that, I have nothing wrong. I had a system update which I installed a week ago. This hasn't been happening for that long, only about 2 days. But every 5 minutes exactly I get the sound of a text, with no text.
If anyone has any idea I am up to all options. I have went through numerous threads on different websites and nothing seems to be working for me.
I just need someone with a bit more tech skills than what I have!!
Please help me out. Thanks a bunch!!!!

It's not so easy to identify an app that make a notification sound/vibration. Just some suggestions:
- If there is any notification message on the notification bar, long tap on it and select "App info" to see it belong to which app.
- Check yourself what apps you have installed recently. Try to uninstall some apps that you suspect.
- Use Permission Explorer to check for apps that have "Vibrate" permission.
I have a sprint galaxy s5. Ive had this problem for about a month and the only thing i havent tried is coming here. The push notifications are not coming through on any app unless the phone is on wifi or i leave an app running on the screen while im away. Ive check all the settings, had sprint look on their side, factory reset, took it to a sprint store, and than had it replaced with another S5. After the first day with the new phone it worked fine until i went to sleep and it updated to 4.4.4 over night. The following day the same problem, no push notifications on data. I went to a samsung video chat and they said it was a bug and wait for the 5.0 update. Well......its here and im still waiting for my friends test email and facebook message to come through.
Any thoughts would be very much appreciated.
Bump
If you're rooted maybe this app https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.andqlimax.pushfixer
could fix your issues. There is an app for non rooted devices too, but I doubt that it works as good.
I'm not rooted and tried the other app you recommended with no luck. I decided since the 5.0 update came through to factory reset the phone. I sent a test to my gmail and installed whatsapp to see if notifications would come through and I've had no luck. Looks like another trip to the sprint store for another phone.

Maybe you have Restrict Background Data checked. It wont give any notifications on Sim network till the app is open. Did you check this out? Push notifications are coming easy on the WiFi and not on mobile data.
I have tried the restrict background data, toggling it on and off and I also checked data usage for apps and none are restricted. Everything is fine on wifi but not on data, app has to be running on the screen to update if i'm not connected to a wifi. I've looked through different forums and many reported the issue fixed because the APN needed changed, but Sprint will not let me configure it. I've been through their tech team and everything seem right on their end.
Anyone have the issue of FB Messenger foreclosing on their phone? It started this morning, phone is stock, i havent put on any new apps. I am pretty sure the app didnt update last night but can't tell but ever since it closes after about 5-10 seconds, tried uninstalling and installing, tried uninstalling and installing fb too, nothing works, sort of annoying. Not sure if this is phone specific or what but none of my other friends report problems.

Just tested mine and sent a message to myself, no problems here?
Try clearing the data and cashe and see if that helps?
Tried it, still forecloses....not sure what is going on. Was working perfectly last night. Have not changed any settings or anything on my phone.
Mine did the same thing but I think mine is different. I tried the regular install and the beta version. Same thing, force closed everytime it started up. I couldn't type anything. The only way I got mine "somewhat" fixed was to reinstall it again and turn off the SMS part of it. After that, I was able to use it and chat. I was using the app for text too but I guess it didn't like it.
Anyways, mine is a similar issue but I see yours was working so I guess it's also different.
i have mine turned off for everything but facebook messages, just tried to install it again, same issue....sadly i think i have to reformat the phone to fix it....pretty annoying
I'm hoping somebody has experienced this before and found a fix and can help me out...
All day I've been struggling to send SMS messages... I'm on 11.0.1.1, magisk rooted, with RICE installed. Everything was working great but today when i woke up, i was unable to send SMS messages...
I'm receiving them, but sometimes they are delayed and i get a few at a time with nothing coming in again for a short time after that, but i've made no changes to my phone in the last 2 days. I've rebooted a few times between then and now (twice yesterday, just because), so i cant really understand why i would just randomly be unable to send text messages or why they are received in bursts like this?
I've gone in and reset my "Wi-Fi, Mobile & Bluetooth" settings from within the reset options, and this appears to fix the issue, but only for a minute or so and suddenly they stop sending again... I thought maybe its the tower, so i used my daughters phone to text my wife and that worked perfectly fine. Immediately before and after, mine wouldnt send.
Any ideas, links, or guidance that might help me figure this out?
Since there's been some updates and no responses to my thread, i wanted to revisit this and see if i'm still the only one on earth with this issue.
The issue seemed to have completely gone away on its own, no idea why or how... But a couple weeks ago i decided to install the update to 11.0.2.2 on my IN11AA. Ever since, my phone will randomly stop receiving SMS messages completely. I can still send, just cant receive. The only way to fix this is to reboot.
Anyone else with this issue? Anyone find a reason for this? A fix perhaps?

Seeming this issue doesn't seem to be widespread, could be a carrier side issue?
It's a shame we don't have dual boot capabilities because you could have switched to stock and checked.
Also try a secondary SIM from maybe someone in your household and send using that SIM and see what happens.
I know there are delays after rebooting, I do a lot of magisk module work and every reboot try sending notifications using SMS or some other methods and I get around 3 mins no send or receive but not at the length you do.

I just had the issue again yesterday. Wife and I started texting eachother at about 8am, except, i didnt receive any of her messages until 5:30pm when she got home and told me she had been texting me. I rebooted 3 times, which once usually resolves the issue but not this time. I had to go into the settings and reset my WiFi/Mobile/Bluetooth settings, then it worked immediately.
Because of the solutions, i wouldnt think its a sim issue, but im going to test it anyway. I've factory reset a few times in the past and i still get the issue. I've had the issue while rooted and not rooted. Four of us have phones, 3 are Samsung and then there's mine, and mine's the only one with the issue.

What SMS app are you using? I wonder if you have enabled RCS messaging the new Google style messaging? Because maybe it uses WiFi to download some of the SMS, and if your carrier doesn't support it maybe you only receive it when you are on WiFi.
Try on WiFi then try just on mobile data and see if you notice.
I attached a photo check the top setting. Google might be persisting your setting (if you are using Google messages)
Also why don't you and your wife try a simnswap next time you happen and you are both at home, if your wife doesn't receive it then it's sim/network related.

I'm using Google Messages, and yes i do have RCS enabled. I dont believe thats the case though because the messages that are blocked are sometimes just an "ok" message. I'm almost always on WiFi though too.
The primary issue with sim swapping with my wife is that we would need to swap sims for up to 2 weeks since sometimes I have no issues for 2 weeks, then i get the issue once or twice a day for three days. The worst part (for me anyway) is that her screen is SHATTERED on her phone (she's using a Note10+) and its hard to see anything, so i've been trying to get her to get a new phone. I think we might be FINALLY upgrading her (after 5 months) to an S21 Ultra, so maybe we'll give that a shot there.
I'm actually wondering if it has something to do with messages for web. I've noticed that the issue only really happens after using that, but.. It doesnt always happen after using messages for web, so it might just be a coincidence.
I'm pretty sure its not Google Messages, or RCS, and fairly certain its not messages for web, because i used to use Signal only, and i still had the issue a few times.

When you say "ok" are you just sending short messages or the suggested replies by Google?
I had problems with auto reply in notifications for a while.
Tbh I just use telegram or signal becuase they don't require being connected to the device directly when using the web/desktop versions.
Yeah swapping for 2 weeks isn't great!
Interesting you had this issue with signal too, sounds like Google cloud messaging (needed for any app push notifications and messaging) is in a standby mode.
You got naptime or servicely installed? Shame no one else is seeing this issue might be easier to diagnose
