Hi guys,
After a year of having a Defy+, eaten by the dog in his first week , I have some curious issues.
It's showing the wrong time. It began around 27 of december last year( 2012 ) and the date was two days ahead. Didn't notice it at first, but when I later saw it's already 2013 1st of january, I got a bit worried.
The phone was setup to get the date and time from the network. After i saw this, I manually changed the date and time to the correct values. And did not use the network update feature.
This morning my phone was showing again the wrong time. 19:36, even if the time was around 7:14 am. I again changed the time to the right one. Normally I wouldn't worry that much, but my work is always around the damn time from my phone. Missing work or meetings because of this is not an acceptable option
So, anyone has any solution to this annoyance ?
The phone has the stock android 2.3.6 with no modifications.

You set Navitel? He can change the time zone and the time on the phone.

Don;t know what navitel is. No application by this name on my phone. In fact no new app since at least a month ago.

Don't really want to do that, but I will if I get it again.
I'm not sure about my contacts backup and I really don;t want to loose again some contacts.

What you have now firmware? Recovery installed?

Add your google account to your phone. If you did then your contacts will be backed up on google servers

Just backup your contacts to sd card and restore when u need

Of course he can wipe... but that's not a solution to the time Problem...
I would like to know how something like that could happen....
I got time probs too.... but only when set to automatic....

I could only wish. Oter friends on the same operator did not encounter this issue. So I don;t think it's the operator fault.
Didn't do it for a while now. I suspect an application is to blame.
to @moderators sorry for the wrong post location, but I have a direct link to the Defy forum and did not know about the Q&A!
Perhaps it isn't because of an application since I don't think apps can change data/time without root, and op had stated that no modifications have been made to the firmware. It will be interesting to see if the problem occurs with custom rom or not. I don't think a data wipe will help but still it's worth a try.

Hello all I got my first Nexus One yesterday I know I should root it but I've never dropped the cash I did for a device I know there is a chance of a brick. I need to let the newness wear off.
But the purpose of this post is any suggestions on specific apps for the Nexus I can try out in the market. There are some that Ive read in this forum some but maybe some were left out.

Just sayin, but the only real chance of a brick is to let your battery die or pull it while flashing the radio. (to my understanding)
try the XDADevelopers app, it's pretty nifty.

Just make sure your battery is charged, you probably won't brick this phone unless your trying to.
While there's not much of a chance for bricking, it supposedly does void your warranty. Some people have been able to get work done even after unlocking though.
With that said, I thought the same thing and thought I would wait about a month before I unlocked it, but that lasted about 2 days lol.
I unlocked it and flashed Cyan's ROM and haven't looked back since.

If you didn't engrave it, don't root it yet. Use it for a week or two, make sure there's no reason to return/replace it due to some defect. If there is no reason, then root it =)
My only 2 reasons for rooting it are: WiFi tethering and Flashlight. Imo, there are no other real reasons to do it, stock rom is extremely well done and I didn't notice much difference between it and Cyan.
Just root it..you'll truly own your phone then. Unless you don't know how to read and follow instructions properly or are just plain incompetent..which I doubt you are since you found this forum~ the chances of bricking are low.
Root it and never look back.
Nah, give it a few days to let any hardware issues make themselves known, then root it if your of a mind.
If you don't root it, all you are going to be able to think about is rooting it. I say use it for a few days to make sure all the hardware is good and go for it. I think I lasted about 36 hours before giving in and I told myself that I wasn't going to do it!

I, too, have the same fears and concerns... so I've never really attempted to root the phone nor tried to. I guess I just like it the way it is.

My reasoning for wanting to root it, is so I can put the Desire rom on the device. I really enjoy the HTC Sense and android. The stock android on the Nexus One is fantastic I agree just IMO missing the Sense UI.
Hi, is rogers my account supposed to keep working after root? Mine shows my usage from last month since i rooted my x10.
I know it should work because i rooted my gf's spica with 2.1 and the app is still working.

Yes, it will still work. At least it does on mine.
There definitely something going on either it's the root or Rogers are having problems, mine show 0k download, supposed to show any transfer done excluding the last 4 hours, I used my 3g quite a lot this month, so there is something going on..

Glad to see i'm not alone, the usage on rogers.com is off also. Seems like the problem is with them. Have you checked your rogers.com account?

Edit: Hmm. Mine too. It wasn't like that when I first rooted. Oh well, another month when Rogers screws up my billing somehow.

One question, today they fixed the problem, for me and my gf, as weird as it's gonna sound, both of our phones battery drained in half a day... Funny thing is, we dont have the same kind of phone!

Is anyone else having major data drops? Mine is happening like 3x a day now! Very annoying. It has nothing to do with airplane mode. All of a sudden I will see my 3G signal leave, then there's a small x near my status bars then the x will go away but the 3G signal will not come back unless I reboot. When I reboot, my battery level drops all the way to where I need to connect my charger to keep it on.
This started happening about 5 days ago. Never an issue before that. Started happening after I flashed Trigger v1.5 rom. Went back to Bionix V and it's still happening. Wiped, Wiped, reflashed, wiped, wiped reflashed...still an issue.
Any help is appreciated!
You might try flashing a different modem.

That just may be the problem. Its happening now like every hour. Forgot about that. It happened to me once before. years ago. Forgot, but can I just go into T-mo and get a new sim?

I did a sim replacement but I really can't tell if it helped me because I'm still having this issue but not really all the time. Are you on 2.2?

I just received the ota for 2.3.3 and cannot find a thing anywhere about that has changed. I have noticed the facebook integration is not there and I now have mediahub. Ither than that I am finding nothingness.
Someone please help me out with this. Its getting me really irritated.
On another note there has been one bug I noticed was fixed: the screen going all tweaky when you try to type when its plugged in.

Yep. I didn't know either. I have no service where I work and when I git in my car and got like 2 miles away I saw a download in progress. Low and behold it was 2.3.3. Build # is 3.0.1.E.0.88

I'm hopping on the Verizon Site now, and i'll see if they'll be so kind as to respond in a forum (sometime) about this update.
Yea my phone tried to do it as well. I stoped it though because im unlocked and on an rooted/debloated stock rom and worried it could cause problems. Not that I could not fix mind you, but it would requre me borrowing a computer as I do not have one

I'm not sure how I feel about the included version (3.6.84.26668.26670.1638.Verizon), since it's missing the custom dictionary of added words. The overall look is different, which is fine, and I like the numbers having the top row.

OTA (you need to be on data, not wifi)
Update: After playing around a little bit, I realized i have slightly better signal!
Note: tried fastbooting and unlocking bootloader, but all i succeeded in was draining my battery...
Now it's time to try gingerbreak...
update: tried gingerbreak 2x for 20 minutes apiece, on a non formatted then formatted sd card, and got nowhere ...

Any have any trouble keeping their Root? I'm still on 4.1.1 and looking to upgrade to KK. Phone kept failing to upgrade to 4.1.2 so i just disabled the update service.

I sorta wonder if I should upgrade. I actually reset all my Google apps back to the factory because the upgraded ones (a little while back) were using too much memory and too many wakelocks and this and that. So I'm wondering if I need an even smarter Google Now and whatever else is new. Right now, the phone is fast, the battery lasts forever... nothing is broken.

Ya know... my phone has not been itself for the past few weeks either. It gets really hot and the battery is not lasting at all lately. I'm on travel now and working in a crappy VZW coverage zone so I thought that was my problem..but I'm going to trying re-setting the google apps. Do you any feel for which one(s) might be the most likely culprits?

When my phone gets too hot I have to put 2G instead of 4 or 3G. a bad signal can eat your battery in a matter of second. Try to clean your active apps as much as you can.

It had to be one of my apps running rampant. I had time over the holiday weekend and did a complete Factory data reset. Everything is much better now.:good:

I really couldn't tell ya. If I had been able to isolate the app, I wouldn't have needed to resort to the full system wipe. I've got most of everything re-installed except for a few apps that really didn't use anymore. I'll pay attention as load a few more to see if the problem comes back and I can relate it to a specific app.
Will anyone try to unlock our bootloades or find an exploi on kitkat? I had to get a new RAZR and it came with 9.20.1xt926 so as of now I'm stuck locked and stock. Sure would be awesome of we got another chance with 4.4
