Thank you, Hashcode, for the AOSP JellyBean ROM - Kindle Fire General

Since the forum software won't allow me to post this in the relevant thread, I just wanted to say thank you to Hashcode for the AOSP stock Jelly Bean ROM. I downloaded it a couple of weeks ago, and it runs flawlessly on my Kindle Fire. I love it!

Thanks again

We all use and greatly appreciate hashcodes work...but is this thread really necessary

Thanks Hashcode - ADB Question
I'm a noob and the forum won't allow me to post this in the relevant thread, I just wanted to say thank you to Hashcode for the AOSP stock Jelly Bean ROM. I installed it a few days ago and it runs flawlessly on my KF2.
Hashcode:
I was successful in upgrading my KF2 to Jelly Bean (forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?...amp;highlight=fmkilo) but now that I have JB and TWRP working I find that I've lost recognition of the KF2 by adb.
From a comand prompt, "adb devices" does not list device. The same is true when I install a factory cable and fast boot into the Kindle; "fastboot devices"...nothing listed.
When I plug the KF2 into my computer, Windows 7 automatically installs an MTP driver, which shows many of the files on the Kindle. If I go to device manager--> portable devices-->Kindle Fire 2 and try to replace the driver with C:\AndroidSDK\sdk\extras\google\usb_driver, widows won't install the usb_driver stating the MTP is best suited for my device.
(I have backup copies of KF2 Stock and JB image files and have "enabled development settings" on CM10 JB).
Suggestions?

'I resolved this kind of problem on my Nexus 7 (no problem with my Galaxy Nexus) by changing the usb connection from MTP to PTP."
Go to settings > Storage > corner menu > USB computer connection > select "PTP".
This solved my problem, adb working fine now!

I second that! Hashcode rocks!!!

Did you try installing the driver package that comes with Wugs?
Its sounds like it isnt finding the drivers to me.Are you using a custom recovery or the stock?
Try using Odin and see if it recognizes it.

i thought odin is for samsung devices...where do i download one that works with N7?
I'm trying to install drivers, but it's not doing anything but opening up pictures with how to install in Wugs.
using wugs, it does pick up as grooper under device manager, but doesn't show on the MY COMPUTER section
not sure what you mean by recover or stock, but i can get into Clockword Mod Recover 6.0.1.0...does that help?
**tried odin 3.7 but it isn't doing anything
LOL sorry I got a few devices and 2 out of 3 are samsung.
Maybe try to install the drivers in the toolkit here http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1809195 ,if you can get a image on there you should be able to flash it with Clockwork if you select install from zip.
I dont suppose you made a backup with Clockwork?
If you can get adb working you can easily flash it back to stock by following this http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1907796
how do i do this when i can't boot into android
Driver Installation
This seems to be the most confusing part for many people. Be patient and thoroughly read all the instructions.
Enable usb debugging on your device (found under Settings > Developer Options)
NOTE: Since Android 4.2 the Developer Options are hidden by default.
To enable them, go to Settings > About Phone, and tap on build number around seven times. A small dialog will appear letting you know "You are now a developer!"
Install the abd driver - detailed instructions for installing or upgrading and existing driver on your version of Windows can be found at http://developer.android.com/tools/extras/oem-usb.html
Once the driver is installed open a command prompt and change directories to <your sdk directory>\platform-tools (see #2). From the command prompt run "adb devices". This will list any adb-capable devices that are connected to the computer by their serial number assuming your drivers are installed correctly. Recap:

Did you install the drivers from the nexus toolkit?
And maybe try a reboot of your pc,and try unplugging usb and replugging while in fast boot.
Also check in CWM and see if a backup has every been made even if its old, its better than where you are now.
there's no backup of anything on the nexus...everything got wiped somehow. nexus 7 toolkit keep tellingthe resource loader cache doesn't have loader mUI entry" whichs tells me it's ok..
adb: unable to connect backup
unplug / reboot / different ports...basic pc stuff already done
Maybe try using a different cable,Other than that maybe try a different pc and see if it loads a default driver to at least give you access to put a zip file on it to flash, could be your driver is corrupt on that pc never heard of it installing a nexus as grooper.
Besides that I'm at a loss.
Best of luck, hopefully you get it figured out.
so...i've tried the following already just to make it clear...
i already tried all the basic pc things
-switch usb ports
-reboot pc
-use usb2
-use usb3 ports
-use a different computer (one 8, one XP)....both...i don't really know what to do cause instructions seems to be mostly in 7 and/or just not working on 8
-rebooted asus n7
if someone can give me step by step, noob guide...instead of saying try thing / that, it may help me.

I had exactly the same problem. I was able to restore mine to stock 4.2 without ever having the Nexus 7 show up under my computer. My understanding is that it isn't supposed to show up there unless it is booted into android, but I could be wrong. Anyways, just try downloading the stock N7 firmware and installing with the Unroot and restore stock option in the Wugfresh Toolkit, and if you want root and custom recovery back, simply use the option to reroot and follow the instructions. That's what I did and it worked like a charm.

[GUIDE] How to flash stock image on Nexus 4 with Build LGEP02 or similar

Hi, does anyone know how can I install the drivers for ADB for the Nexus 4 with Build LGEP02? This is currently running 4.2 and it says it is up to date. I want to flash it with the 4.2.1 image.
Also, there are two testing tools on the phone, Hidden Menu and CKE Setting.
-------------------
Fixed!
Here's what I did.
1. Download this LG Driver and install.
2. Make sure USB Debugging is ticked/checked and plug it into your PC.
3. Now that it is finally installed properly, follow the instructions on this thread to flash it with stock image.
4. ???
5. Profit? Done.
To moderators, kindly move this thread to the appropriate section. Thanks! :good:

I also already tried that before I posted here. It seems this unit uses an LG hardware ID instead of Google's, I think.
Try the drivers from here. http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1996051
Make sure you delete your current installed drivers first.

I finally managed to install stock 4.2.1. I will add the steps I did on the first post, so whoever runs into a similar device with the LGEP02 build can flash it with Google's build.

Stuck at "android is upgrading"/"starting apps"

Basically I tried to install acid audio mod 8 on my phone but did not realize that it was xperia only, so now it is stuck on "android is upgrading"/"starting apps" everytime i reboot. I tried flashing back to acid audiomod 7 and that didnt help. I am running Slimrom with franco kernel btw. I also tried wiping dalvik cache, just cache, and formating the phone from recovery, none of that helped. I dont have any roms saved on my phone or any backups so I am stuck like this and I cant connect my phone to my pc, my pc would recognize it but it wont show up in my computer so I cant access it to to save another rom to it. I tried connecting via recovery (where it goes "download mode do not unplug the device until the process is complete") But that doesnt work, the it would try and install drivers for two "Full JellyBean on Mako" (so it seems like slimrom is based off of a older cm 10 build), but it would come back with no drivers found. When I am in recovery via clockwork my pc recognizes my phone as "Android" but again I still cant do anything with it. Someone please help! I need to fix it by tonight because I am going camping tommorow with family for a few days so having my phone working is a must .
Thanks for those that try to help!
PS I tried using nexus 4 toolkit to reinstall drivers that didnt help.

Im not sure how to do that, lol, im still pretty noob, but yeah I mean from devicemanager.
I would install the SDK . you could also use the adb files of the toolkit if you want
When you locate the adb files. Open a command prompt (shift right click ) and type adb devices. To check if its being recognized. If it is we can push a ROM.
Download ROM of choice and place it in the same folder as adb
Then type the command
Adb push nameofrom.zip /sdcard/nameofrom.zip
Or if you near a PC I can help out via teamviewer

you can do what is stated above or you can wipe data using stock recovery, not needing any pc, but you will loose all your data

[Q] Big *Dummy* asking for help

For the first time I did an OTA while rooted. I upgraded to 4.3 and now I've lost the following:
SuperSU dowsn't work
Busybox does't work
Can't run bootloader or recovery
My system still shows as a rooted system upon boot. When I connect to my pc and run wugfresh's toolkit, it fails to find adb. I have verified that the driver is installed correctly and debugging mode is on. I can't unlock, root or even return to stock. I do remember seing a thread about a similar issue quite some time ago but I have been unable to find ut. Any help will be greatly appreciated.
Btw, it has just a plain root, no custom roms installed.
Thanks in advance.

Hi, stator...
Your post isn't quite clear... does the device boot normally? If so, you should have no problems booting into the bootloader.
But first download the latest UPDATE-SuperSU-v1.51.zip to your Nexus 7.
Shutdown the Nexus as normal. Then press and hold the VOL down button... whilst continuing to hold, press the POWER ON button.
This should boot you into the bootloader (in fastboot mode).
From there, and from your PC, Fastboot flash a custom recovery... (Chainfire recommends TWRP)... with the line...
Code:
fastboot flash recovery recovery.img
Where recovery.img is the name of your custom recovery. I usually just rename it to 'recovery.img' (without quotes) anyway - makes for less typing at the command prompt.
Ensure you get the correct recovery for your device....
TWRP for Nexus 7 Wi-Fi ('Grouper') or TWRP for Nexus 7 3G ('Tilapia')
Although a new version of TWRP is now available (2.6), I had some weird issues with this... particularly when copying Nandroid backups off of my Nexus 7 to my PC. Random 'permission denied' messages would crop up running an ADB PULL command... copying via MTP didn't fair much better either. TWRP 2.5 works without problems though, and it's the version I would recommend.
Anyway... back on topic...
Upon completion of flashing TWRP, boot into that recovery (whilst still in the bootloader)... and select INSTALL... navigate to the folder where you downloaded Chainfires SU root updater (usually, the 'download' folder)... and SWIPE to confirm.
Reboot as normal... you should now be rooted. This can be confirmed by any one of the numerous Root Checker apps available in Playstore.
I haven't experimented with busybox... if you mean this version, I haven't installed it, and nor am I going to... at least not for a while.
My Nexus 7 is still in the process of being rebuilt from the ground up, after having fastboot flashed the factory image, necessitating a full wipe (I was running a custom ROM/Kernel combo before)... so I'm taking this slowly, re-installing apps carefully.
It seems that some apps that worked fine under 4.2.2 are broken under 4.3. MX Player and Adobe Flash Player to name a couple.... but QuickPic and Titanium have now been fixed and work fine under 4.3. I'm under no illusions that Adobe Flash Player will be fixed anytime soon... it's been technically deprecated by Adobe for a while anyway.
Anyway... good luck... and hope you get root sorted.
Rgrds,
Ged.
I am having problems with Busybox as well even though i did not take the OTA. I flashed CleanRom, and Faux kernel.
Just fyi

First and foremost I would like to apologize for taking so long to reply. Real life had me out of town and I didn't have my tablet with me. I tried the advice given but it didn't work at first. It took multiple attempts but I finally got my tablet back to stock. I guess my Nexus 7 didn't agree with the 4.3
OTA while rooted. I can now unlock, root, and even change roms once again. I don't know for sure what was causing the problem but it's all good now. Also, I was always able to use my tablet during my little crisis. I was just unable to unroot or even flash a new rom. Thanks again for all the help.

Nexus 4 No OS Installed TWRP

Guys I need your help.
I have Nexus 4 16GB pre owned. Bought it with Cyanogenmod 10.2 installed already and rooted. Then CM11 nightlies came and I installed it OTA but it seems that it has a lot of bugs so I rolled back to CM10. When I rolled back and rebooted, it does not come up (Google and Cyanogenmod logo only). I rebooted it to bootload mode, then recovery (TWRP) and accidentally wiped out everything including ROM/OS. I don't have that much knowledge in restoring my phone. I tried connecting it to PC (WinXP) and it does not recognize the device. Tried everything posted in different forums on how to connect my device to PC but to no avail. Cannot do USB debugging thing 'cause I can only utilize device's recovery mode (TWRP). I'm thinking now on having this device repaired by cellphone repair shop just to install OS.Anyone can help? Other forums look like too technical for me. Noob here, really.
