Is this normal battery drain for voice calls? - Nexus 4 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hi guys. It seems to me that my nexus 4 has been consuming too much battery for voice calls. Ive attached pictures showing what I'm experiencing. Is this normal or is there something wrong? Im on a 2g network btw. Thanks in advance!!

How much screen time? Voice calls are a HUGE battery drain, especially if you carrier supports 3g calls. An hr of voice calls will use a lot of battery.

i don't remember the screen time for that particular day .. but usually i get 4hrs+ and from what i've gathered from the forum, that seems normal .. this concern over voice calls is because according to gsmarena voice-calls are one of the N4's strong points when it comes to battery life... according to their tests voice-calls would last around 14 hours before the battery died.. but in the screenshots i've posted, only about 1 hour of talk-time consumed around 14% of total battery life, which would amount to only about 7 hours of talk-time.. maybe the guys at gsmarena got it wrong or something but thats exactly what i'm trying to find out ..

I haven't done any measured tests but from casual observation I've noticed I rarely lose any battery during a voice call though I also rarely talk for more than 10-20min.

I'm sure those call times are based on the screen off and nothing else being used during that call.
Talk time in labs never equal real world usage.

I'd say definitely normal. Did 5+ hours of calling the other day (new years/Christmas stuff) before the phone died and 2hrs of screen on time too. The voice calls were the most used in that case, something like 70%. That's expected though in my book. Seems most people that post here don't actually talk on the phone as I never see voice calls in their screenshots. Getting 6hrs of screen on time and 0 calls doesn't work for me So I get about 2hrs of voice and 4hs of screen time.

Well i guess the answer is that this is normal .. so i shouldn't be worried about it .. thanks guys for the help

LMAO

Slightly off/on topic for this but I use my phone to listen to music through bluetooth for approx 2 hours a day, get about 1hr30mins screen on time and probably about 2 hours talk time a day (on bluetooth). By the end of the day I'm usually sat on about 10% battery, does this sound about right? I think in my estimation it seems right...any comments?
Also Lol at the voice calls comment You mind if I quote that in my Signature?

its not a phone, its a mobile data/media device that happens to make phone calls :angel::angel:

Haha, quote away.
For me voice calls are unavoidable as significant other is in Europe right now. We use Hangouts but sometimes it's just easier to call which we do and there goes the hours of usage per day.
So generally at the end of a normal day (I work during the week so that's "normal") - i'll have between 1.5-2hrs of voice calls then 3-4hrs of screen time.

This week I had the following battery use on my N4:
12h battery life, 30% Voice calls of 47minutes.
Used on 3G Network.

The definitive battery thread...

So I am one of the people that envies those of you that claim 20+ hours of battery life on your phone. It doesn't matter what ROM or Kernel I use and if I have SetCPU at max 3xxMhz, my battery lasts until 6pm ish (off the charger around 8am) and I have moderate usage. I can use Juice Defender and any other power saving product with no result. My product number ends in F. I have a replacement from HTC on the way and I will report back with the battery life and product number when I get it but it seems as most people with failing battery life have the F at the end. I posted a poll and I'm hoping to get some good turnaround. I'm not too concerned with what ROM/Kernel everyone is using, just more on the product number unless you have seen drastic differences moving ROMs/Kernels.
EDIT: A few points of clarity:
* Sorry for the confusion... I was not referring to the physical battery. I am looking to see people's battery life in relation to their phone's P/N
* Lets set some parameters here:
Bad ~<13 hours and your phone is pretty low
Mediocre Between ~13 and 20 hours
Great ~>20 hours
Just reading the threads, this seems to be the ranges we are going through together. If any of your votes don't meet this, maybe you can change it. I have my new phone on the way and will not root it or change anything... I'll test the battery life.
where's the B option?
and by the way, how many different ending letters are there? do you know?

I didn't throw the B option in there specifically because I didn't know how many ending letters there were. You would chose the option "product number does *not* end in F..."

amazingly i didnt read that correctly.. maybe people here should post what their letter is.
mine is so obviously B
Interesting thread, especially for those of us with poor battery life. On my battery there is a "part number" and on the phone there is a "p/n" number, my p/n number ends with F and I'm guessing that's the number we are talking about?
Also, my vote indicated that I have bad battery life but I don't really know what constitutes "moderate" usage and also, "bad" battery life to me may actually be precisely the type of performance I should expect.... for example, with moderate use my battery is at about 40% - 50% when I get home from school, so that's moderate usage between 9am to 3am and 3 of those ours I'm in class, and I only use it for a few minutes before each of my 2 or 3 classes so I'm really looking at about 20-25 solid minutes of usage, is that considered "moderate"? And if so is 40-50% remaining battery considered "bad"? Thanks

Also can the ones who have good battery life with over a day or more please post your ending numbers.
I actually have two batteries that end in M and I get great battery life. I rarely have to swap batteries, and when I do it is because I took my phone off the charger at 8AM and streamed 5+ hours worth of music via Subsonic, while using my phone for at least four hours of browsing, etc. Even then, I usually swap before the one dies completely. Generally on my way home from work, so when I get home I can play some games without worrying about my battery dying on me.

Hmm is that the phone or the battery that ends in M? Because the P/N we are talking about is the one on the phone.
I have an F and have regularly gone 36 hours before charging.
I think its an interesting poll and although contains subjective opinions may well show a valid finding. However the number of people responding needs to get up to >60 or so to draw any conclusion.

My bad... I assumed that since you were discussing battery life, that the battery was the object you were comparing. So, my batteries have a part number ending in M. Phone ends in F, aren't all Nexus Ones going to have the same part number? I didn't think there were different hardware revisions.
You may want to restate your question as "What is your battery life/product #?" clearly reads exactly that.
Dont think the battery ending in F argument holds any water.
My battery P/N ends in M and I get about 5 hours of life before needing a recharge (normal use). This is not necessarily bad as its a super-phone.
With less use and a few calls the battery will last about 12 hours.
The solution is to be able to charge everywhere Cable in your laptop bag, cable on both home and work desks, charger in your car....
Get the Sedio 3200 if you want close to 2x the battery life and have the cash for it.
My phone's P/N doesn't end in a letter. And I have bad battery life. Around 10 hours of medium usage.
I leve Wifi, GPS, Sync turned ON and display brightness at 50%.

Thats just it. ALL our batteries ends in M. Its the P/N on the phone we are comparing. A good amount of persons are reporting over 20hours or 1.5days of battery life with 3G, gps, gaming and such. Which seems to come within the realm of what Google advertise the battery should be. But some of us can barely make to 12hours with that usage. I recently discovered the phones ending with F seems to be related to bad battery life. Strange I know, hence the purpose of this thread. To test that theory.

Oh... I just wake, my eyes still drifting..
I meant to say.." With what kind of usage?"
My P/N ends in F and i can go a full day with no battery problems at all. Most of the time i am around 40% or so after about 16 hours. Also i do watch videos on my phone since i am in the Army and do some traveling. I can get by with about 4 2 hour videos before the phone has to be charged. I voted great with F.
I'm not certain there is a "bad battery life" so to speak, rather than the part number i'd be more curious as to what is eating up your battery life. check under settings>applications>running services and see whats going on under the hood
with a full charge i have 4187mV charge, when it wants to shut off its around 3000mV or so. this mV reading is from the "battery left" widget. I highly recommend this widget as it gives you a pretty good idea as to what is using the battery up.
i usually unplug it at around 730am and lasts until about 10 or 11 pm, depending on what im doing that day. to give you an idea of my usage, i check a few rss feeds and check email and play some mp3s from the sdcard on the way to work, then sometimes play in the market a few minutes and do some casual web browsing while at work to break the monotony, check personal email some times , listen to some sd card mp3s and check some tasks in astrid. I have the email sync about 15min, background data and contacts sync on auto, work email on sync about 15 minutes, twitter sync every 4 hours, newsrob sync every two hours, gps on wireless on, brightness auto adjust or 75-100%.
Here are some things I notice that obliterate my battery
streaming music with last.fm - this chews through the battery a bit, I would say it will last about 6 or 7 hours constant streaming over 3g/wireless.
navigation app - using the gps with maps eats the battery up, its about dead after a 1 1/2 to 2 hour trip with no charge, couple that with streaming music and you basically have to have it plugged in if you plan on using it at your destination
no signal - while im at work ive got some pretty poor reception, I've started putting the thing into airplane mode then manually turning the wireless back on, this gives you some connectivity with google voice voicemail and google voice sms while not actually having the 3g radio constantly working to find a signal, the 3g radio really takes a lot of the battery imo. I used the tmo band N1 and put a check in the force 2g connection checkbox(since i was on att) and the thing would last all day plus most of the night, when i got the att band N1 i did notice quite a bit of difference in the battery life, the 3g used up a noticeable amount more battery.
screen brightness - this one i dont have too tough of an issue with, ive used the 100% brightness for a bit and didnt notice too much of a difference compared to the auto adjust.
IM applications - i used to have meebo constantly running until i noticed it wouldnt stay connected very well, then i found that if you lost connection it would try to reconnect for 2 minutes, if not connection after that it would just sit there saying no connecction and still eat the battery, since not starting it up i do notice better battery life, i keep it on the phone for when i do need it but dont have it constantly running any more.
web browser - Ive noticed a couple times where I had been using buzz or some other website and found my battery die fairly quickly, it ended up that i had a couple different tabs open in the browser, namely buzz and some other forum page i frequent. it seems these tabs were continually trying to refresh or something and just sipping off of the battery. what i do now when closing the browser is go into the windows menu and close each tab before exiting out of the browser by tapping the back button at the bottom
rogue applications - those crazy things....wanting to force close and crash and take your battery with it trying to process whatever endless loop they are stuck in. not to single out any specific app, things happen, but Ive had the last.fm app sort of crash while switching from wireless to 3g when leaving the house one time and it just wouldnt die, i had to actually reboot the phone, I could tell it was just draining on the battery since the phone was actually getting warm, as it does when its working hard or streaming audio.
tl;dr: I dont mind paying attention to what is actually running on my phone and charging it while im sitting at the office listening to music or always having it plugged in while using the navigation app....it is primarily a phone after all.
to answer your question, the att band N1 i have currently is a B and the tmo banding N1 i was using on att was an F, and in my opinion, they both have fine battery life depending on what I was doing with it along the course of the day.

Today Is The 4th Day Without Charging My Streak...

The battery meter is saying 55% after 4 days without a single charge!
I have used the phone for very light phone calls, some messages and a few minutes on the internet, but very light use.
I just wanted to share with others who would like to know the battery life.
I would say excellent & a lot better than expected, best battery i've ever had in a phone so far...
what are your settings wifi on or off data connections off or on using 2g or 3g mode give us some setup samples

Now that is dam good, Yes please tell what your set up is regarding data wifi and such
Lol, I knew you guys would say that! I am on 2g, no data, wifi was used for about 10-15 minutes in the last 4 days, around 15-20 mins voice calls and around 10-15 sms messages.
As I said before, VERY lightly used in the last few days as I also have the HTC HD2 and use that more for voice calls/wifi...
I last charged the Streak Monday and today it's Friday.
Battery is now reading 54%
I reckon I can get a week out of it with light use!
However, if I was to watch movies, listen to music, wifi, calls then I will get max 2 days...
Lies! I have to charge mine every single day, sometimes twice a day!
The max it's ever gone is 23 hours and a bit on the "last plugged in" counter thingy...
Even over night, it'll be at 88% when I sleep, wake up and it's already on 60% or lower.
Although I do always have wifi or H/3G on...and constant use with internet/facebook/sms/calling. If I'm not using it for one I'm using it for the other or all at the same time!
It's the kind of battery life I expected with it tbh though.
@ dairy u best be trolling ... wifi on while u sleep helps get u cancer and also complainin about low battery is like goin back to the car dealer sayin it eats double as much as advertised(altho u did rev it 6000 all the time)

Yeah this could be true if you have no use for this kind of phone. Go back to the Moto Razr! I have to charge mine everyday. WiFi on non-stop, Bluetooth on non-stop, always on the web, texting, and watching movies in bed.

Not trolling at all mate, firstly the Streak automatically turns off Wifi when you lock the screen, so nothing to worry about there while I'm sleeping it's just running 3G. And secondly, I said it's got exactly the battery life I expected!

tbh do you really *need* 3g on when you're asleep?
can't you collect your sms/emai/tweets/etc etc when you get up?
I do that, charge it, go to bed read turn off connections, read an ebook for a while and next morning it's 98%
it then takes a couple of seconds to connect and catch up with all the meaningless inanities that pass for social intercourse amongst my mates.
I think what the OP is trying to get at is what the streak CAN do..Yeah phones last a week like the razor...but thats not got a screen this big! Or this good...Thats the huge batt killer...Im sure there will be situations for example when I go abroad where I will hardly use the device and certainly not use wi-fi or 3G and its nice to know it can last a while...
Yeah phones could do this 4-5 years ago...but im pretty sure no smartphones with huge touch screens could..

That's the response I was looking for. Getting a good few days out of the Streak is very possible.
Supposing you are a very light user, say 2-3 sms a day, 5-10 mins of voice calls a day, no music/videos or pictures, no 3g/data usage, and wifi, say a few mins a day, and lastly you turn your phone off at night so it's only used around 12 hours a day.
Should you follow the above, you WILL get at least 5 days of battery...
At first, I was to use wifi for around 30 mins a day, watch some videos for a few mins, etc. My battery would last around 2 days.
However, I last charged it the previous monday for the third time and I really wanted to see how good the battery really is.
You will ALWAYS have people saying the battery is good or it's crap.
I didn't know who to believe so I tested it out myself.
As I said previously, I am testing the battery simply by ONLY USING THE PHONE WHEN I NEED TO...
No video's, no music/pictures, no 3g, no gps, no data, etc.
Only a few minutes per day voice calls, maybe 10 minutes usage of wifi in the last few days, etc.
The Streak has been in standby mode 95% of the time and not used/touched.
It is now saturday, day number 5 and I still have 48% battery left...
Here is how it went:
Day 1 - Battery was charged 100%
Day 2 - Battery read 92%
Day 3 - Battery read 78%
Day 4 - Battery read around 64% (cannot remember)
Day 5 - Battery is 48% as of now...
I recon I will get a week out of it or more...
My HTC HD2 is around 18% and i've hardly used it, it's lasted only 3 days...
I find it amazing that Dell managed to make a 5" monster tablet pc which has such good battery.
I know som people on this forum disbelieve me, but try it for yourself and you will be amazed to see it actually does last quite a while.
Do what I said above and see for yourself...
It's standby time is excellent, especially when HARDLY used and the screen is off 95% of the time.
Wifi is the REAL killer for the Streak though, on one occasion, the battery was 72 percent, after TWO minutes of using wifi, it dropped to 68%
It is now the 6th day without charge and there is still 39% left...
I can comfortably swear by god I am telling the truth and the Streak was last charged last monday.
Today, which is saturday, day 6, still shows 39%
How cool is that? It is far better than my HTC HD2 battery which lasts 2-3 days MAX with little use...
That's doesnt surprise me. Dell Streak battery is the best one in every smart phone batteries I ever bought. But I wonder why you bought the Streak if only for light use llike that. I bought smart phones, high-end phones so sometimes (if not most of the time) I can play with it, surfing, playing games, trying apps, tweaking. If for only light use like you, I just want a normal 3G with wifi phone

I do use the streak for wifi, video's and images.
I only hardly used it this week just to test out the battery. Some people said it's good and others said it's bad.
That is why I hardly used it at all this week, just to see how the battery performs under very light usage.
It really did surprise me as I've not charged it for almost 7 days and there is still 24% left in the battery...
It should last one more day then it will need to be charged again...
Great Battery
I use mine for about 4 hours a day of heavy use. I browse the web and emails and some music so 4 to 5 hours a day is a lot of phone use. Replying to 200 text messages and 30 minutes of phone calls. Wifi when I am at home and I have wifi sleep set to never and the only thing I have syncing automatically are my Google apps like mail, contacts and calendars. Even with all this use I can get 2 good days out of this phone. I do have auto brightness off and screen to lowest setting which to me is still pretty bright and vibrant.

It will be charged for the first time in 7 days, brilliant I would say!
Reason it lasted so long was because I used my Streak for a few minutes a day, not hours!
My screen is also set to 80% brightness but was used for around 30 mins in the last week...
Crikey, I use mine varying amounts and most days its either fully depleted by 10pm or not far off. 40% is often stand by, 50% call stand by (not sure what th e difference is), and 10% others. The only way I could get 2 days is to turn it off fir one of them. Any ideas on what I'm doing wrong or do ihave a duff battery?

You must either use a lot of wifi/3g or videos/screen...
Most days I only touch my Streak for a few minutes, only when I need to.
90% of the time I do not touch it and it's in standby mode, that's why it lasts so long.
If I was to use wifi for 30 mins, some youtube & video's then I will also get 1 or 2 days if I'm lucky...
However, considering the size of it, great battery...
fotgot to mention
I work in a place with no wifi in the break room and I am on edge not 3g. At home I use wifi and get 3g but my primary usage is at work. Its still very fast ob edge and i have had otber smart phones not get as good of battery as this device under the same circumstances.
I forgot to mention I ALWAYS turn my Streak off before I sleep, around 11-12 at night...
Reason for this is because I get the odd idiot who call me at 5-6 in the morning and wake me up!
I do not turn it on till I get to work as I travel on the underground. There is no point to turn it on when theres no reception.
The Streak is therefore turned on only 10-12 hours a day, another good reason why it lasts so long!
I hardly talk on it too and when I use wifi, it's usually for a few mins only.

49 hours on a single charge

I don't use my phone much on the weekends, so I decided to really put the battery to the test. Really happy with my results, and I think I'm going to aim for this same usage throughout the week as well.
I've included screenshots of all the apps I have disabled, and my home screens for what widgets I use.

Yeah, no Lollipop, just 4.4.4 with the Advanced Calling update.
Holy crap! Is there something I'm missing??? I'm unable to get 6h SOT, and I've run my battery down in less than 15 hours before. Do I have a lemon or something?
EDIT: Just noticed you disabled moto display. I really love that feature, but maybe that's the difference.

That will make a difference. Meh, I can charge my phone periodically throughout the day, so it's no big concern of mine.

I don't use my phone much on the weekends, so I decided to really put the battery to the test. Really happy with my results, and I think I'm going to aim for this same usage throughout the week as well.
I've included screenshots of all the apps I have disabled, and my home screens for what widgets I use.

looking at your screenshots and the amount of apps you disabled i can see why it lasts that long.

Yeah, it's definitely a lot, but I only disabled what I didn't use.
The only exceptions to this are Motorola Connect and Moto Actions. I disabled Connect because it connect to my work computer, which is the only time I would use it. I did use Actions for a while, but I don't really get enough notifications for the active display to be useful, the twist motion only works with the default camera, which I don't use, and I stopped using the sleep assist in lieu of just putting my phone into airplane mode. Everything else is disabled because it's either bloatware, a service that I don't use or need, or apps that have been replaced by something else from the Play store.
I can't bring myself to disable active display since it runs off its own core so battery savings without it can't be much, and its incredibly useful for me.
Not quite this good but...
I use Moto Display constantly. I have disabled lots of apps but mainly just VZW things and things I don't use. I easily get 2 days out of a single charge with 5+ hours screen time (rarely make it to 6 but not because I couldn't just because that is about the time I plug in. Still haven't actually seen it below 5% since the day I got it.) Probably 40-45 hours total time between charges.
I get 48 hours on one charge during the work week. I get a total of about 4-5 hours SOT. I think it speaks to the phones great standby time. Also, I don't really do anything heavy on the phone. That SOT is mostly YouTube, Facebook, instagram, some clash of clans, internet, photo viewing, ect. Screen stays at a constant 20% brightness.
my girlfriend got her turbo yesterday and coming from a droid razr she is blown away, im actually jealous. some guy in another thread made a .bat script which disables most of the common bloatware so I used that to save me a bunch of clicking. She actually had me turn off Active Display, she found it too annoying as it was always lighting up.

I can get two days, but do not bother. As a developer, my phone finds itself on micro usb half the time while I compile and test apps.
So I don't get a chance to get under 40% most times.

Not to mention the battery stats would look completely different.
My old man got a Turbo recently and I made him not charge it until it dipped below 20%.
He made it 52 hours and down to 19%. Nothing disabled, on WiFi at least half the time, 4 hours in a place with questionable connection strength, FB installed, etc.
You also have to look at the first few screenshots. He's got wifi and data disabled for almost 30-40% of the time, which will give you a significant increase in SOT/idle time. I'm currently at 1day 23hr 40min, SOT 3hr, 35%, with data and wifi always on/syncing, and active display. Still impressive regardless!

Does Moto X Pure get you through the day without charging

No SOT screenshots. Just yes or no answer. You can elaborate on your daily usage to give people an idea about how it does or does not allow you to get through the day.
If you used the phone normally for 10 days, and it failed to get you through your day for 1 of those 10days, your answer is still No. Exclude the days when you forgot to charge your phone.
PS: I use the words "normal" day. It means that you were not explicitly hell bent on killing the battery and hell bent on answering No here....
Absolutely. Normal usage for me is web browsing, social media, checking the forums, maybe a couple YouTube videos, email, texting and phone calls. I'll charge it up at 8pm, pull it off the charger around 9pm and be good to go until the next evening.
You'll get yes and no's. Everyone has a different uses each and every day. It could be yes one day, no the other. Yes for majority of the day or no. It all depends on what they're using it for that day.
If you're gauging to see if it would get you through the day, the only real true answer is for you to use it for yourself based on how you use it.

Pretty much my usage except mine comes off the charger in the morning. I've gone from a super heavy user in years past (ROMing and flashing all day long) to a light-average user. Texting, couple social media visits. A forum or two and maybe a video here and there. I could get 2 full days usage with this phone easily.
It's about on-par with my, recently sold, HTC One M9... And I'd say a little better than my sons Galaxy S6, which I had to use recently when between phones so I have a pretty good ideal of what it's battery life is like.
The MXP has really good standby time.... It usually drops about 1% per hour. Last night I forgot to plug it in and it only dropped 5% in about 7.5 hours.

I changed the rule to include the historical data. If it ever failed to get you through your normal day, its a No. Excluding the days when you failed to charge.

mine lasts all day for me. Went to bed last night and had 34% i dont do allot of gaming mostly browse facebook or instagram send texts and stuff light stuff.
Yes! Couldn't do it with my Nexus 6, but definitely doable with this Moto X Pure. I do some light to moderate gaming on light/medium duty games (Battle Command, SimCity, Clash of Clans mainly), watch Netflix, Hulu, and YouTube, and do quite a bit of web browsing and texting with some calls. I'm typically left with ~22% at the end of the day when I'm headed to bed. I'll stream some more and by the time I get the 15% low battery warning, I'm already half asleep and it's time to sleep. My day typically goes from about 9 am to 11 pm.
Yes. I come off the charger at about 8am and it goes back on around 10-11pm. My day is spent in a delivery truck most times, so I use chrome to pull up addresses, and maps to see where I'm going. I don't normally use turn by turn, though. This usually accounts for about 1.5-2 hours of SOT. The rest of my 4ish hours is spent browsing with chrome and some email and YouTube. A little Facebook and Flipboard here and there also. WiFi, Bluetooth, data, all Moto Assist stuff is on except the lift to ear for voice commands and NFC. Since my day is spent mostly outside, and even though my brightness is around 20%, with adaptive turned on, the auto brightness still cranks it up to a readable level.
Happy with the battery life so far :good:

That's a lot of use IMO. Good to know that you are able to use this phone normally and get through the day.
I'm already down to 45% after five hours of my normal usage. My Note 3 was much better than this. Wondering if I might have a bad battery/unit.

How long have you had it? I've had mine since last Friday (9/11) and am finding the battery has improved greatly the last few days.
Yes. Got mine 6 days ago. Unplug at 4:30AM, 1 hour of music at the gym (bluetooth on 15 minutes to and from gym - 30 min total), about 3-3.5 hrs SOT and plug in at 10pm with about 15% left.

Yeah, hopefully you'll start to see some improvement
MOTO X PURE EDITION!
Battery
I can now give a good answer to this question. I have had the Samsung Galaxy S6 for 3 months. I barley
got through a day. This is with most options turned off. I sync exchange server for work, surf web, stream
satellite radio, BT connection to car, 50/50 wifi and cell connection, calls and txt all day.
With the Motto X Pure 2015 I have about 40% more power at days end than the SGS6. Typical day:
Off charger 6 AM, to 11 PM. SGS6 generally about 25%, Moto X around 35 - 40%. I haven't even begun to
start tweaking.
I can also say the Moto X is smoother than the SGS6 even though the processor is a little less than
the Moto X. Its the Touchwiz that kills it. Pure Android is heaven!
CC
I know for a fact that more than 25 people have had this phone for 1 week (or even more). Where are you folks? Please vote.
Mine gets me through a typical workday. I only use about 1 hrs SOT throughout the day, and have about 60% left after 8 hours. As soon as I start using this at night, I probably only last until about 9 or 10, ending w/ about 3-3 1/2 hrs SOT...

Battery life struggles

Is anyone else struggling to get more than 3hrs screen on time in a 12 hour day. I don't game or watch a lot of videos. It seems like the phone isn't going to sleep when I'm not using it. Just testing the waters if my unit is defective. I mostly web browse and read stuff on g+. My screen brightness is a little less than half with adaptive brightness on and enhanced voice over lte is disabled on Verizon. Thanks for the help.

3 hours of screen on time seems pretty good for a phone with a screen this big and with brightness around half way up. Is 3 hours SOT bringing you down to like 0 battery?
What do your battery stats say that make you think your phone isn't sleeping?
I only really tested the battery and checked the stats twice and I think the second time I had 2.5 hours of SOT over the course of 13 hours and my battery was at about 38% (also on Verizon).
I think that is pretty reasonable. If I could get 4 hours of SOT from full battery until dead I would be fine with it. Others have been posting much longer battery lives though.
I have read on this forum that one person tested the phone with the screen looping a video at full brightness and it lasted over 5 hours. http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=63642067&postcount=391
Some people are showing screen shots of over 5 hours of SOT http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=63690175&postcount=462
Off charge 23 hrs ,been using mix if WiFi and 4G all day and some poor signal areas
Do you have your bluetooth always on?
No never on unless I need it ,have WiFi on all the time and toggle mobile data on and off as I need it
Yeah my mobile network signal is mostly orange and red. I keep Bluetooth on all day for my smart watch
See it is awake all the time I made a long phone call today so I can't judge the battery today.

I found my moto 360 was keeping my phone awake (possible bug?). so I disconnected my watch and the phone actually slept when the screen was off! Give it a try!
I just have a pebble but I'll give it a try.
At 2 hours in 13 mins screen on time. Phone seems to be sleeping now but there is a bug in my battery stats. Any clue?
Here are the screen shots
Still not impressed. The phone isn't staying awake now that I disabled Bluetooth but isn't going to doze. I have purposely tried not to use my phone today.
Battery is terrible. I'm hoping once some new kernals hit it gets better... Because right now I'm thinking of returning this thing.

I used the phone heavily at work my first day with it and from 7am to 10pm I still had 40% battery left. I'm impressed with this phone.
This post will be taken down soon as there is already a dedicated post available but I get amazing battery life like 6 hours easy. I would suggest an RMA. Plenty of individuals/reviewers have commented on the performance of this phone's battery.

I am not sure why people keep complaining about BT on. I leave mine on all the time. Although i don't use my smart watch any more, so it is only connected in my car and my BT speakers at home when I want to listen to music in bedroom or so. I don't have any drains. I get 4-5 hours SOT in 24 hours. This is a first for me always owning nexus in the past. I am very happy. I also started testing the force doze mode on screen off setting with greenify today. It is making standby noticeably even better.
First day with pretty heavy use. The best battery I've had in a phone.

Install gsm battery and find what is sucking it down.
I bet anything those having battery trouble have apps syncing in the background like facebook, email, etc. My phone has been of the charger since 9am it's now 1am I have 2:20 sot with 58% battery left
