Hi,
I've been thinking about creating a swap partition to increase RAM, but my microSD card is only class 4, when the recomended is class 10. Should I do it anyway? Or can it be done on the internal SD card? (Assuming that the internal SD card has a greater class than 4).

I've read that flashing with sd card it should be 2gb or smaller.
Would it be ok if I used a 4gb card and partitioned it in half so there were 2x2gb partitions?
4Gb SD card is SDHC compliant. Maybe update not work with old firmware on your mobile device. It`s safer to use old SD card less then 2Gb, because then is SD compliant (not SDHC).
SDHC cards require an SDHC capable device firmware.

When it says 2Gb or less it MEANS 2Gb or less.... No exceptions....
I got a new class 6 8GB sd card, and I want to copy over all the stuff from my old 4GB card ... fat32, ext, and linux-swap.
What's the easiest way to do this? (I'm on a Mac, and I have a USB sd card reader.)
Can I avoid having to re-install all the apps in the apps2sd partition?
(I assume I'll have to manually partition the new card.)
Thanks!
Ok so I have a mt3g rooted with the latest stable cyanogenmod (6.0 I believe). I currently have a 4gb card in it class 4. I do not use apps2sd, but I do use the install apps to sd feature. The whole sd card is formatted to fat32. I just ordered a 8gb card class 6 online to replace the 4gb I have now since it is becoming full. My question is, can I simply move the data (copy & paste) from the 4gb to the 8gb? Or is there something else I would have to do? Thanks.
hey guys,
i heard someone say to format sd card preferably with 64kb memory allocation, than 32kb (maybe default for his card) for android builds....
well, i don't know which size his card had, but for my 2gb sd card 16kb allocation is maximum...
shall i format it with this size?
What is the preferred partitioning configuration of the SD card for the Matrix 4g?
In a previous phone, I had a 16GB card from which I allocated 1.5GB as an extended partition. I was using Link2SD. I am getting a new card (32GB Class 10) to use in this phone and want to make the best use of this massive storage device.
Is an extended partition even necessary under 2.2+? If so, should it be FAT32 or a Linux-type (Ext2,Ext3,Ext4)?
1) no custom kernel = no app2ext (old style apps to sd)
2) Froyo has its own app2sd which allows some apps to store most of their data on sd card.
3) you have a lot of space for apps on internal storage.
