Date reset? - Nexus 4 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

I just took my n4 out of my pocket to check what time it is, and I had to enter my pin and time and date because it was set to 1970. Battery is at 70%.
Did anyone have similar problems

This usually happens if the cache on the Google services framework app is cleared. Do you have some sort of app cleaner or task killer running?

Not at all. I was using it normally all day, and it still works fine now.

Every app is auto starting after it is installed

Kind of annoying... is there a setting to stop this? Or I may have got some malware?

Anyone knows? Thanks!

I've never heard of this. After installing an app in the Play Store, it just opens by itself?
I'm not exactly sure what you mean either, but I find it an enlightening process to use something like Autostarts every now and then to keep an eye on new apps and widgets to see when they're triggering themselves.

Well, basically it's every app, no matter l install from play store or I side load an apk. It wasn't like this initially, but I cannot figure out what triggered this.

Nexus 4 random nexus logo

Hi, today I was on my nexus 4 watching a couple of YouTube videos when suddenly the nexus logo appeared on my screen (the nexus logo that appears when you reboot the phone). After the logo had disappeared it was like the phone had just been rebooted. can someone tell me what happened and how it happened?
Thanks in advance

Your phone done a fast reboot.
My nexus did it once when it got to hot
Sent from my Nexus 4 using xda premium
It happened again today and I've only used it for about 2 mins

Did the phone feel hot before it rebooted? What were you doing the second time? Perhaps you could try leaving the phone off for a few minutes to let it cool down before turning it back on.
Nope it's still normal temp. I was on browser not doing any heavy usage.

How long have you had the device and is it rooted or anything? Custom rom, kernel, etc.
I've had it since the 1st of December and it's not rooted. Stock android 4.2

I've had the phone for 8 weeks, stock, rooted and this has happened to me once. I presumed it had just crashed and rebooted?

That's what I'm thinking aswell buy I've not rooted

i have the same random soft reboot issue. both with my nexus 4 and nexus 7. it happens anytime whether its being used or not. sometimes up to 2-3 times a day.. sometimes just 1-2 times a week.. i've read it somewhere on google support site that google is aware of this JB 4.2 bug. i just wish they could get a fix out soon.. *still waiting*

Android OS background data use?

My data use in the background by my os is using a lot of data. Is this abnormal for a week of use? Seems excessive to me

Att has nothing to do with it...it has to be one of your apps...something is constantly syncing/and or jot stopping its data use...I suggest a factory reset through kies or odin if rebooting the phone doesnt resolve the issue

Thanks. I did a factory reset and that fixed it. Now to figure out the culprit.

I faced the same problem, issue was somewhat with auto backup of data, sync of app data & people details in google account,
BUT the main culprit in my case was uTorrent application.
Even though there was no torrent added to it, i didn't even opened it,
it was using 1GB data daily on WiFi and in data usage it was coming under Android OS usage. I uninstalled it, everything went back to normal.
So try to look for such apps which eat up your data in background, it may not be an error of android OS as such.
Hope this helps, Press THANKS if it did help you
Enjoy

Huge battery drain

Hello, recently I updated my Nexus 4 to Android 4.3 (over the air)
But now the messaging app drains a huge amount of battery. How can I solve this? I already force closed it lots of times but it keeps coming back...

Can you select Messaging from the list so I can have a look of what is going on?

Hmm is there a way to keep app data without root? I'm planning to root again as soon as CM gets updated to 4.3, so I'd prefer that otherwise.
(Cant backup anything on a pc now since my own pc is broken)

I've never used it, but this app from the Play store (made by clockworkmod) says it can backup without root (although you will need a PC).

Time synchronization cm 10.2

Hi all,
I don't know if this issue is already resolved somewhere but here it is.
My time is off by sometimes hours. Restarting my nexus 4 solves this issue temporarily.
Manual changing the time instead of network time also resolves the issue temporarily.
Any ideas or fixes?
Sent from my Nexus 4 using XDA Premium 4 mobile app
Set time manually instead of using network time. Try ClockSync app (root) which will synchronize daily.
I did that manually, still getting the wrong times. Only a reboot fixes it temporarily
Sent from my Nexus 4 using XDA Premium 4 mobile app
Am I the only one with this issue? Is it possible that a different kernel can be a fix?
Sent from my Nexus 4 using XDA Premium 4 mobile app
Nobody?

Same problem
Hi,
I have exactly same symptoms since a month. Manual or network option doesn't change anything and the issue is random.
It makes me think like when the motherboard battery is dead on a computer.... may call Google
