Nexus 4 random nexus logo - Nexus 4 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hi, today I was on my nexus 4 watching a couple of YouTube videos when suddenly the nexus logo appeared on my screen (the nexus logo that appears when you reboot the phone). After the logo had disappeared it was like the phone had just been rebooted. can someone tell me what happened and how it happened?
Thanks in advance

Did the phone feel hot before it rebooted? What were you doing the second time? Perhaps you could try leaving the phone off for a few minutes to let it cool down before turning it back on.

Nope it's still normal temp. I was on browser not doing any heavy usage.

How long have you had the device and is it rooted or anything? Custom rom, kernel, etc.

I've had it since the 1st of December and it's not rooted. Stock android 4.2

I've had the phone for 8 weeks, stock, rooted and this has happened to me once. I presumed it had just crashed and rebooted?

That's what I'm thinking aswell buy I've not rooted

i have the same random soft reboot issue. both with my nexus 4 and nexus 7. it happens anytime whether its being used or not. sometimes up to 2-3 times a day.. sometimes just 1-2 times a week.. i've read it somewhere on google support site that google is aware of this JB 4.2 bug. i just wish they could get a fix out soon.. *still waiting*

This happened to my first n7... my only fix was to exchange it.
Sent from my Nexus 7 using xda app-developers app
Yeah but I lost my receipt so I don't know how I can exchange it now

If you purchased with a card, you can try asking the retailer to look up your receipt.

Help nexus 7 unresponsive

I had like 9 apps requiring an update. I clicked update all, then the screen went black and now nothing will happen. I've tried holding the power button down but that doesn't help. It was fully charged. Help! Sorry I can't search I'm traveling and I only had my nexus 7 and nexus 4 so hard to navigate the forums on a phone.

Edit: screen finally came back on but all the apps failed to update. Also I've noticed the tablet has been extremely sluggish and laggy the last few weeks..it never used to be like this when I first got it!

Oh and I've never rooted or anything like that

Nexus 4 4.2.2 update deleted all ringtones

Hi, i just updated my nexus 4 to 4.2.2 and it deleted all the system ringtones. I'm stock, no rooting, nothing. How can they be restored back or how can I install the 4.2.2 update again.
Thank you!!!

Stay away from 4.2.2 for now. It's making nexus 4 unusable. The problem is how much time they will take to fix the issue.

Sv: Nexus 4 4.2.2 update deleted all ringtones
It is not unstable. I have 4.2.2 running on the Nexus 7 and Nexus 4. None is unstable.

Me and my brother had the same issue, after the update the phone restarted, and no ringtones were available. After the restart all went back to work.

Huge battery drain

Hello, recently I updated my Nexus 4 to Android 4.3 (over the air)
But now the messaging app drains a huge amount of battery. How can I solve this? I already force closed it lots of times but it keeps coming back...

Can you select Messaging from the list so I can have a look of what is going on?

Hmm is there a way to keep app data without root? I'm planning to root again as soon as CM gets updated to 4.3, so I'd prefer that otherwise.
(Cant backup anything on a pc now since my own pc is broken)

I've never used it, but this app from the Play store (made by clockworkmod) says it can backup without root (although you will need a PC).

I don't think its not in the ROM..BTW, I haven't got any annoying popup system ui stopped issues after deleting some of my recently installed apps..I think Google play are the one who to blame why my nexus 4 crashes..ehehe..anyways just a minor prob and fixes and thanks mate for ur help anyways.SOLVED!
