[Q] NexusHD2-JellyBean-4.1.2-CM10 V1.3a-lost superuser - HD2 Android Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting and Genera

NexusHD2-JellyBean-4.1.2-CM10 V1.3a installed and fully working on my HD2.
However, I tried to use the Barclays Bank app without success. I read in the thread titled "Can't get barclays mobile banking app working!" to "Try rooting again, then install SuperSU from gplay. Then in SuperSU under Settings select Full Unroot."
I did this and the app now works but I've lost the superuser app that was installed along with the jellybean as well as the uninstalling of Super Su.
Is there any way I can get the superuser app back without a complete reinstall of jellybean? If I do a reinstall is there anyway of keeping all my current downloaded apps/settings?
Thanks.

as far as i know..if you reinstall the same rom you don't need to wipe anything...wipe only the dalvik cache..everything you installed will stay and every app that the rom initially have and "got lost" will be back...but i don't know what happens with 2 superusers...maybe uninstall the one you put on the phone

strange as google play says "Barclays Mobile Banking app
* Please note that this app does not work on rooted handsets *"
i would be surprised if it only worked on rooted phones anyway as almost all phones are generally not rooted

(Q) Phone says its rooted but its not...

Edit : just checked. My phone is running the newest updated but im gonna try to unroot and reroot one more time even though I already tried and it could not unroot.
So I went to install the new update via stock recovery and it seemed to work. I go check system settings and its still showing 2.3.2 and not the newest one. I go to try and root and it says everything works and my phone is rooted. Thing is there is no super user app that appeared on my last droid 2. What's the issue?

Try it again and use the 1 click root for 2.3.20 from here http://www.mydroidworld.com/forums/droid-2-discussion/5321-2-3-20-1-click-root.html

It might be that you just lost the app and just need to get it off the Market.

Yeah, I saw it was rooted and just went to market and got Superuser app and installed, I have root. I don't know why it did not show the superuser app even thought it said the apk was transfered.
Mine did the same. After I rooted using the one click method, it said it was a sucess. Tried to use Root Explorer, and it said failed getting superuser permission. Checke my SD card, and there was no Superuser.apk there. I copied it to the SD card from the one click directory, and it was sucessful. When trying to use Titanium Backup, had trouble with Busybox. Titanium downloaded a new Busybox, and all is now well.

New superuser update fouled up my phone

So, I was excited to see a new version of SuperUser available yesterday. I updated and much to my surprise it screwed things up on my atrix pretty good.
Now it doesn't even prompt me to allow permissions for some apps, and just auto denies them the perms. In SuperUser app it self those apps dont show up, so I cannot manually allow them ( even though they are being logged as denied).
Im no idiot.. I can usually work around most problems I encounter.. so I go into preferences and set it to "auto-allow " everything SU permission. The apps STILL get denied. I have uninstalled and reinstalled those apps. No luck there. I guess I could try uninstalling and reinstalling SuperUser but I'm not sure that will work either.
Normally I wouldnt even care, but it just so happens the apps its screwing up on are Adfree and LBE privacy guard. I am not pleased. Looks like I may have to restore this month old nandroid backup I have.
Anyone else had any of these issues with the update??
i got the update (and also an updated su) and everything is working fine.
Everything is working fine for me... (Stock Froyo) *knock on wood*

i dont rly like the update either but it is working but it dont show the apps in the app list
no problems here
I had a problem the other day regarding a binary update with superuser and gave up and reloaded my Rom, works fine now. Luckily backup worked better than I thought and back to normal already.

Also no prob with su.
Instead of reinstalling your old backup, just uninstall the update in the app manager.
If you update it'll say at the bottom "Was that cool Do it again?" Click do it again and it will then prompt you for SU access. I haven't had any issues yet.
Im aquired a copy from CWM Rom Manager and I am on a stock 2.2 rooted/unlocked rom. It works fine.for me and with Super User Elite from the market it really works lovely.

Beware Superuser 3.04 on android market.

Beware of the recent update to 3.04, there are frequent reports of apps requiring root access not working due to superuser fcing. YMMV.

Thanks for the quick response, however I've done that -having the same result...Tried apps after that...still no go. Ran root checker "No Root Acess." Unless its the Titanium Backup update. Other than those 2, I haven't done anything else.

Uninstall su and reflash your rom
Deck's + SZ + SuperCharger script + ViperMod script.
Oops
Deck's + SZ + SuperCharger script + ViperMod script.
So far unsuccessfull at uninstalling su...theres only the update option from the market...at this point lost..
I have had the same issue. So far the only workable solution that I have come up with is to:
- Delete the App data for Superuser (in Manage Apps).
- Run Super User and change the Automatic Response to Allow (in superuser preferences).
Not ideal because any app that requests su will get it. Have to keep an eye on the log until a fix if there are any apps that you do not want to have su.
Thanks...was able to delete su app data and access su...yet still no access to root apps (su 2.3.6.3)
Just reflash rom
Having trouble with AOSP? http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1295702

No need to reflash roms or uninstall anything from from your phone guys.... The fix is to uninstall updates of superuser in market.... Once done this go to your applications on your phone and click on superuser app and hit ok when the popup screen comes up.... And your apps that require root access will work once again....

Confirmed. Recent update fixed issues.
my fix was...
Uninstall updates as stated in earlier post ;-) Then a restart or Reboot is all is needed. no need to reinstall the rom thats not the answer.
No issues here, have the latest superuser.
Downgraded, Restarted, rebooted su force closes still...any suggestions?

Thanks evo4gnoob for the keen eye and the catch! I've already uninstalled superuser -- awaiting a more stable release.
Once again, thanks a million! =)
The new SU screwed my phone too, but I just installed, and flashed a older one from recovery, and all is well.

[Q] CM9 but no root?

Can anyone offer a suggestion why applications that need root are denied even though I have cm9 installed? Superuser just keeps denying them when I try to give them root, like Apex Launcher (It needs root for certain widgets)
maybe go the play store and see if there is an update for the superuser app or open the app and update the SU binaries. if that doesn't work, maybe try reflashing CM9 [just wiping delvik cache] and see if that reminds it it is indeed rooted.
Try app called rootcheck to verify you are properly rooted:
I'm not

Oke so the app tells me I'm not rooted, is there an easy fix for that? Seems kinda weird seeing as its a custom rom.

Wipe and reinstall. Don't update binarys. I know they have been causing problems on the latest update

Install busybox installer from the market and install/update busybox. See if that fixes your issues. Also try installing SuperSu from the market, opening it, and updating su binary when it opens.
Did you run the busybox free app?

I installed busybox installer and when I try to install/update it says it failed. As for SuperSu, it doesn't give me an option to update the su binary.

I ran busybox free and it says it's unable to verify whether or not certain utilities needed for this app to run are present and functional on my device. This problem could be caused by a device that is not properly rooted or by superuser settings that are misconfigured

Likely not but thought i'd ask - Did you update to 4.1.1 after initially rooting?

Did you have the apps that use root before you rooted? I've noticed with some apps (that work with and without root) sometimes dont register that root is installed on your device so perhaps you should try redownloading them from the play store.

I've had the apps for a while on my droid x but I waited until after I rooted to also install them on the N7. I also tried uninstalling them and reinstalling them but they still don't work.

When you take an update it unroots your device. Re-root it with the tool and you'll be fine.

He should've used voodoo over the air rootkeeper to back up n save his root. So once you update, you can easily restore rot with one click in that app instead of having to use roottoolkit again.

I feel like a moron especially since I froze the updater on my droid x, I'll give it a try when I get home from work, is there anything special I should do or will I just have to click the root button?
