Hi all,
I have to report a problem with 2nd Init installed and camera.
I Found that my camera showed a black screen instead of the preview but I could make pictures without problems, but no video.
After trying everything found on the web, the problem was still there. So I restored all my apps and data and I tried to uninstall 2ndinit....
The camera now is working!!!!
I can't even imagine the reason but seems that 2nd Init has some bugs on defy.
Anyone had this problem?
bye
Davide
The solution is simple, from bootmenu change boot method from bootmenu to normal. The black screen is due to messed up video driver.
Maybe I was not too clear... I'll try to explain better.
The problem at the camera IS DUE to defy 2ndInit not to video driver!
The only way I found to solve it is to remove 2ndInit. (tried 2 times)
I was just wondering about the connection between the problem and 2ndInit.
Thanks
Bye
pbjhon was right in the first place. The 2nd-init is actually causes the camera to stop working properly where you can not see any preview but taking picture is ok.
You need to set the boot menu(in 2nd-init) to normal booting instead of boot into 2nd-init. Installing 2nd-init in default will set the booting direct to 2nd-init menu which you must edit/change it yourself.
I have similar problem, happened just after install of bootmenu (0.6.1, no new ROM yet).
Please clarify - once I've selected the "Normal" boot option, to be the default one, - how could I enter bootmenu again ? - is this done by press on "volume-down" button, once the blue led is lit ?

Install latest bootmenu and CWM for better ROM management, http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1356767.
Some custom roms will ask what kind of boot when you pressed reboot option, like CM7. You can disable/enable that option as well.
However in the ROM you use, if theres no option, then you can simply press Vol-down the moment blue led turns on.
For me, the no-camera issue was resolved by set the default boot, to "Normal".
I have also verified that I can re-select boot menu, using the volume-down press after blue Led lights up.
Thanks for the help.
Guys I encountered a problem after flashing joker's 0.3.0 CM9 build today. Right after flashing that update from 0.2.0, I immediately noticed that my usual red Motorola bootscreen is missing. Instead the menu whenever we want to enter CWM by holding the power button + volume down button came up. My CWM was missing thus i couldn't flash anything (i later found out it was missing and reinstalled it). My screen calibration was off. It was as if everything shifted like 20 pixels down for example whenever I type Q the A button gets triggered, Z button gets triggered instead of A, and so on and finally my hardware keys are no longer functional. Instead they are being replaced by the last row of the keyboard which is spacebar, the puctuation keys etc. I have tried going back to 0.2.0, factory resetting, hardware factory resetting, reflashing faux's 1.3ghz kernal and nothing seems to be working. Please help me guys! Any advice is greatly appreciated!!
It could be the pds partition has gotten messed up. That's what I gather from what you have told. Google pds partition fix, download the pds fix that's most appropriate for the android version you are running.

Hi guy,
does any one know how to back to original defy wtih sbf files? because my defy stop at Android logo. In addition, I think my problem at MIUI defy V5 because after I installed V5. I dont like it, so I use RLDs to recover my defy with SBF.
Environment and duplicate steps
MB525 (green camera)
1 - Reboot the phone when you see the blue LED volume press the button below to enter the bootmenu.
2 - Now we enter the Custom recovery
Custom recovery:
A - Wipe data
B - Wipe cache
C - install the rom and Reboot (MIUI V5 Defy/Defy+ 17.5.2013 Quarx Based on 11.5.2013 /Miui Defy/Defy V5 Optimization)
3 - Use one or two hour, then I dont like MIUI v5, so I go to wipe date and cache again under recovery mode, then defy stop at Moto's logo.
4 - I used JRDNEM_U3_3.4.3-36-1.7_CHINESE_SIGN...to reflash by RSD lite.
5 - The Defy stop at Android logo. ( I dont have any idea now. because usually reflash SBF is work for me.)
Can you take any screenshot? I cant imagine what android logo are you thinking .....
Sorry for my English

Thank you Yzeroy,
Android logo is second picture when you power on defy. (ex: first picture is Moto logo. second logo is Android logo)
Ok, as you said you came from MIUI v5 ( whitch is CM10) it uses EXT4 as primary partition format for data and cache ... solution si simple and easy ....
1. Turn off you mobile ....
2. Boot up Defy with POWER button and VOLUME down button pressed together
3. DO factory reset and reboot
Now it should boot
haha, I fixed this problem now, and I know the root cause. anyway, thank you very much
the root cause:
should be need to wipe date and cache again.

I think it's probably an hardware problem but i hope it's software problem... Any solutions?

I solved the problem by reinstalling the version of the non-HLOS for the modem installed on my notes 3 unfortunately I ran the download mode through the Power menu in my rom and the installation process went well although it might seem in fact it was not, only turning off the terminal and then launching the download mode mode with the buttons vol. bt down + power + home are finally able to solve this problem ... thanks a lot
