[Q] GooManager + CM 10. I am failing to install GApps? - Nexus 10 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hi all,
So this is my first time trying to flash to CM10. It looks like with GooManager it made my life super easy. I did get stuck in a bootloop but TWRP saved my life.
I was able to successfully able to boot into CM10 but noticed the lack of google apps, and the google play store. I then realized I forgot to flash the gapps zip file i downloaded under GooManager.
When I do flash it into CM10 I get this continuous message that says (paraphrasing) Setup has failed to launch. And it continuously shows that popup and doesn't let me get to my home screen (the background is all black).
This only happens after flashing the Gapps file; otherwise, CM10 boots up fine.
Any help would be much appreciated! Thanks :good:

Apps installation screw up. Need help PLEASE!!

I got my S3 today, and of course set out to root it immediately. Everything went fine until I went to install google apps. I inadvertantly chose the wrong zip and installed the ones for my Skyrocket. Now it boots fine, but is stuck in an error notification loop where it says gapps has closed and setup has failed. If I could get back to the recovery panel, I'd know exactly what to do, but I can't get there with this phone for some reason. When I reboot with down volume, it boots into "safe" mode, but still gets stuck in the loop. If I reboot with down volume and home, I go to the Downloading screen. Could someone please help me get back to the recovery panel???:silly:

So close, Volume up home and power, and it should get to to recovery.
If you can't boot into recovery, but you can boot into download mode just flash a stock ROM through Odin then flash the correct version of gapps sand you should be good

I can now get into recovery (thank you!) but it's a hobbled recovery, not the touch recovery I installed when I originally rooted. It only gives me four options, including install zip from external sd. When I try to install CM or gapps I get a failed to get permission message and the installation aborts. Unfortunately, fix permissions is not one of the four options I'm presented with
So now I'm trying to flash clockwork mod touch from odin, but it hangs at the Samsung Galaxy boot screen when it goes to reboot. Any ideas out there?

I managed to flash a new cwm via odin and got into my familiar cwm. From there I was able to reinstall cm10 and gapps (the right one this time!) and it no longer hangs at the samsung galaxy boot screen, and is FIXED. Thank you so much for your help!!

Stuck on "Google" screen

To avoid a novel, I'll just the list the steps I did. I had an ancient version of clockwork and paranoid android rom on my N7, not sure what version and I wanted to get Cyanogenmod 10.2.1 on there along with TWRP.
1. Downloaded TWRP from playstore, installed under paranoid rom, also downloaded CM on SD
2. Used TWRP under paranoid rom to install CM and Gapps
3. TWRP rebooted N7, old version of clockwork showed up instead of TWRP
4. Flashed CM, it worked
5. Installed RomManager, updated to newest stable CM update, installed it, rebooted
6. Once rebooted, playstore and rom manager crashes all the time
7. Hold down Vol Down while booting brought me to fastboot
8. If I select recovery mode, it gets stuck on google screen
9. Tried to push latest CWM via fastboot, it says it pushed it, but I'm still stuck on google screen. It does get back in to the OS still, but playstore crashes.
I don't care if I have to install CWM or TWRP, I just want to get it out of this state. Any ideas?
Nevermind all that, pushed TWRP instead of CMW via fastboot and it worked.

[Q] Gapps does not install while flashing with cm12.1 - Nexus 4

Hey guys,
Recently I flashed
ClockWorkMod recovery - v 6.0.1.9
Cyanogenmod 12.1 nightly -cm-12.1-20150706-NIGHTLY-mako.zip
It all worked out (with great difficulty) and the phone works fine.
However, I have no google apps. Coming from stock factory setting to a rom with no google apps is quite difficult.
So, i tried flashing the gapps along with the rom but i keep getting a status 7 error message and the installation gets aborted, the result being when i reboot my phone i get a plethora or error messages of all the google apps which stop working (i.e none of the gapps work).
I have tried flashing the following (file names) gapp zip files with no luck.
gapps-5.1-2015-06-02-15-21
gapps-5.1-2015-07-03-13-41
gapps-L-4-21-15
gapps-lp-20150211-signed
BaNkS-dynamic-gapps-L-6-21-15
pa_gapps-modular-mini-5.1-20150315-signed
Even the gapps link on the cyanogenmod wiki page does not work. ( i think i included that filename in the above list)
On reading other forums, members say that the recovery must be updated.
Quite honestly i am quite apprehensive to do anything to the recovery as i got stuck into a bootloop once and it took me a day to get out of it.
P.S i am a complete amatuer in this process, this is the first custom rom i flashed after staying on stock factory images for 2 years.
I really do need help, as no other rom works well except the cm 12.1 and itwould be absoutely brilliant if i have the google apps too!
Thanks in advance.
solution found
Hey there, I have the s4 (GT-i9505)
I had the same problem until today and I have found the solution to it,
I updated my cm12.1 nightly to 20150706,
Downloaded slim gapps 5.1.x mini latest (20150706), [I searched for it on Google]
Tried flashing the cm and then the gapps but it didn't work, and gave me all the errors of apps that have stopped which was very annoying.
So then I did a little research and figured out that I was using twrp v2.6.0.0 which was quite old , so I never gapps after the root. So then I updated it to the latest version by connecting my phone to the PC in download mode and downloaded the twrp v.2.8.0 (latest) and recovery booted my phone.
Factory reseted my phone, installed both the cm12.1 and gapps by selecting the zip files and then flashing them. Wiped the dalvik cache. Finally rebooted my phone.
And to my surprise it actually worked. Thank god that now I have the play store and all the other apps without any annoying popups.
I'm on my phone so I can't seem to be able to upload any links .
I'm sorry you gotta have to search on Google for the download links.
Have fun buddy. Hope it works on your nexus 4. Enjoy !!
Got it working!!
So, followed some forums ( including mehsan23) and updated my custom recovery. The most surprising thing is that you can do this by downloading zip files of the latest cmw recovery and flash them on to your existing recovery and the recovery automatically updates.
Then flashed the gapps on cm12.1 wiki page and it worked! So relieved! However the Google app crashes but its alright I can do without it.
Thanks guys!!
P.s thanks again mehsan23

[SOLVED] What recovery should I use with CM 10?

I got bored today and decided to pull out the old N7, 2012 version. I update recovery to TWRP 2.8.7.0, installed CM 12.1, realized this tablet crawls with any version of Android other than shipped version, so I went and got CM 10 and GApps for JB, wiped and flashed them back on. I didn't see any errors when flashing them, but when rebooting after, it just boot loops. I see the Google logo with the unlocked icon at bottom, then reboot and back to Google/unlocked again. So I wipe and reflash cm12.1 and it's GApps and all boots and works fine, other than being slow. I'm assuming the recovery is the problem as I've run into something similar before on another device, but in that case, the recovery was too old and needed updated, but it makes sense that a recovery could be too new as well.
Am I correct that the recovery is the problem? If so, what should I run for CM 10 to flash and work?
Try cwm recovery

I don't' know if it was using CWM or that I also tried CM 10.2 at the same time, but it's working now. On CyanogenMod's own page, there was no MD5 for CM10, but there was for CM10.2, so it's possible my copy of CM10 was a bad download. Either way, it's working now, so thank you good sir, or madam, or person on no specific gender.

Bricked tablet? :(

Hey everyone I'm really in need of help.
I flashed cyanogenmod's v 13 rom coming from 4.4.4. In cwm it said may of lost root, yes to fix? I wanted to go back but it booted anyway. Now I'm stuck on this ROM without any Gaaps, and when I go to boot into recovery to flash the gaaps, it only shows the Google logo so CWM appears gone. I've also tried downloading playstore and ROM manager via the Web and it force closes when it goes to download.
I'm I doomed or is this fixable?
