New 32GB 3G Nexus 7. SIM Problems. - Nexus 7 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Purchased a 32GB 3G Nexus 7 from Google. First one had a cluster of dead pixels so I returned it along with the Micro-SIM it came with.
They sent me a replacement, but it did not come with a Micro-SIM. So, I had some back and forth emails with Google for about a week, trying to get them to send me a Micro-SIM. I ended up just going to an AT&T corporate store to get one.
That was yesterday. I've had this Micro-SIM in the N7 now for a day and I did pay $15 to activate one month / 250MB of data just to try it out.
It works, but I keep getting two different messages on the screen randomly at different times, that say:
SIM card removed
The mobile network will be unavailable until you restart with a valid SIM card inserted.

I press the restart button and once it's on again and on the pin screen (where I enter my 4-digit code), it says, "NO SIM CARD" beneath the number pad.
I'll proceed and enter my pin. Do some stuff, play games, check email, just use it regularly and all of a sudden I'll get that SIM card removed message again asking to restart the N7.
The other message I get as well (also randomly) is:
SIM card added
Restart your device to access the mobile network.

Anyone know what's 'causing all of this? Any fixes?

Anyone?

ttt...

Bump...

Maybe the Sim is bad?

Hi, i'm having the same problem on my Nexus 7 (32GB, 3G modem, which I bougth 3 weeks ago). I believe the problem is in the micro sim slot, because if I keep it pressed with my finger the error doesn't show up and everything works as expected. Unfortunatly I couldn't find a solution, so I will ask for a repair to my retailer.

SIM is detected only for brief moments.
I keep getting the same message on my Nexus 7. Mobile data keeps going on and off. The longest mobile data connection i've had was for 30 hours straight... otherwise its just 5 minutes before the two dreaded messages come
"SIM added : Restart you device to access the mobile network" and "SIM card removed : The mobile network will be unavailable until you restart with a valid SIM card inserted"
Should I ask for a replacement ?

SIM Card Full Error

Hello All,
I am using HTC touch for a while and would use different ROM versions quite often. Recently i put in the some ROM which event i don’t remember which one i started getting this error below. I checked and made sure that there is nothing in the SIM card i also put in the SIM in different Cell phone to make sure its blank. I also reverted the device to the Factory Image but still the same issue. There is no pattern on when i get this error it would some time come twice in 1 hour and some time it would be couple of hours. Once i get this error and select Ok my network will go to searching and often end up enable Flight Mode and then disabling it.
"SIM card full. The SIM card is full. You must remove some messages from your SIM card to receive incoming SIM messages."
Any pointers are greatly appreciated.
Thanks,
Jasjit
it will be necessary for you to call the carrier to locate a retail location near you that has a Cellebrite device... not all locations have one as they are quite expensive... using the Cellebrite it is possible to wipe/edit your SIM...
this happens sometime with my device also.
but in my case i just clean simcard and reinsert it.
may be u have faulty simcard or sim socket .

[Q] Microsim issue

I received my N4 a couple of days ago and had my vodafone (India) sim cut to a microsim. The microsim works perfectly on the iPhone and even on my DHD (along with the leftover adapter) but when I insert it into my N4 and boot the phone, the network signal lasts only for about 5-10 seconds (every single time). It recognizes the sim and even the operator name gets displayed properly in the phone status. After that it's as if there's no sim inserted. Isn't it weird?
I'm yet to try inserting another microsim but I wonder why the phone would reject the sim after a few seconds? Anyone has an opinion or theory on this?
I've tried resetting the phone but to no avail.

My guess would be it is not cut correctly.

This. What did you use to cut it? A template and a scissors? Or did you have a specific SIM cutter that you got from a shop which offered such services? I got my SIM Card cut at a shop which had a specific cutter to cut SIM cards down to size.

The N4 is really picky with cut down sims. many users report problems with cut down sims. Sometimes those problems don't appear till later on. Best bet is to get a real micro sim.

Like I said, I read reports from users where their N4 read the sim for days without an issue. Then it began to fail.

Insert valid Sim card error?

I've had my verizon gs4 for a month and no problems.
Now while traveling I keep getting errors saying I will "no longer have access to mobile data till i insert a valid sim card" ?
I've switched sim cards at the verizon store but it started again the very next day.
What gives?
Alan.. Sent with Galaxy S4
The error message that said I needed to insert a valid sim card happened again today while traveling home.
The good news is I think I figured it out!
I had so much hell with this error I wanted to share my findings.
I've talked to numerous verizon techs with suggestions to replace my sim card, reformat, maybe it was one of my apps, and even to replace my phone "but there's none in the warehouse".
Finally I discovered the Galaxy S4 requires a "nfc" enabled sim card!
You can't tell by looking at the tiny sim but the larger card the sim comes in has a notation of "nfc" if it's the right card.
I think as long as I was in my local area the network let me slide since I initialized he phone there... But when I ventured out it saw my non nfc sim as invalid!
After replacing I hung out in the Verizon store about 30 min because before it would error within 5-10 minutes. Then drove home "an hour drive" and absolutely no errors!
And I maintained a 4g signal throughout my whole trip which was through some back country where signal is usually marginal.
Update... As of 8 hours later still no errors!
This is a pretty serious problem for Verizon.
Why?
1. If I would have reformatted to factory settings... I would have gotten the same... All for nothing and days of configuration lost.
2. If I got another new phone, again the same.... All because I would be using my same sim card.!
I'm sure many replace the whole phone "and" sim together and when it works and it's assumed the problem was the phone or software.
What a terrible headache for the customer, tech support, and verizon customer service just because people don't know the proper sim card needed for the S4!
I'm mifted that this is not common knowledge among verizon personnel concerning such a popular phone!

one Samsung Galaxy S4 EE sim says 'invalid sim other OK

I have 2 Galaxy S4 i9505 phones.
Phone 1. Bought as used phone on Ebay and was previously locked to the 'Three' network, I had it unlocked by 'Three'. This phone has always, and still does work without problem with my EE 4G (pay monthly) sim. The only remarkable thing about this phone is that it failed/froze/bricked whilst installing the Lollipop upgrade. It was repaired - new boards - under warranty in April 2015.
Phone 2 was also bought as used on Ebay. This phone had been used on O2 network. I discovered that it had never been locked to any network. I bought a pay monthly 30 day rolling contract thinking that it had been locked to O2. When I put my EE 4G sim in I got the message 'no sim, insert sim'. Baffled. The only thing I thought could be the problem was the sim itself, EE gave me a new sim. The only physical difference this sim had was that it had the Nano option. When I put this sim in phone 1 it worked perfectly, I put it into phone 2 and it worked! I needed to put the sim back into phone 1 to set it up to transfer data. When I put it back into phone 2 the message 'invalid sim' came up and that is where things stand.
As I have two phones I was hoping someone could guide me through the necessary steps to find out where the problem lies by comparing the two, and hopefully find a solution. I have read another thread from tomedwards93 posted in April 2015 and see no solution was found by him so maybe this could help him too.
Can someone please help?
I didn't understand a single of what is written, the description is long and read this thread twice, still can't a understand this thread

I've replaced the sim card slot and done a factory reset, it worked for about half an hour then the 'No sim ' message returned. It still works with a PAYG '3 network' sim, with intermittent 'sim removed restart phone' message I no longer have the O2 account.
I have another fully functioning S4. Can anyone guide me through comparing the Android settings on the 2 phones.
I've never attempted either flashing or rooting and don't understand how to go about doing this.
Just to say thanks for the suggestions, the phone has now corrupted my SD card and I've had enough, I'm defeated. I'll keep this phone as a Sonos controller and go to Lumia 950 on Win phone 10 when it arrives.:good:
Sim not detected
I have a samsung S4 i 9505 and I often receive a message "insert cart sim". After rebooting it works normally

Connection error or invalid mmi code

I have a Nokia 6 on the T-Mobile network, I am only using one SIM on this device. Recently whenever I use a short code to check my balance, data usage, etc. I get a "connection error or invalid MMI code" error. When I first got the Nokia 6 it worked fine then it starting giving this error.
I called TMo but they can't figure it out, I rebooted, manually and automatically re-selected the service provider, booted in safe mode. T-Mobile reconnected my device to the network themselves multiple times too, same error.
Yesterday, I found an old Alcatel Android phone which is a single SIM phone, I put my SIM in there and the short codes worked fine. I put the SIM back into the Nokia 6, I got the error all over again.
Does anyone know a fix for this, I am only using only SIM card so the articles and YouTube videos I found were not working as they concerned a phone with 2 SIMs.
Thanks all.
Fixed---sort of

Well, someone helped me resolve this (no not Tmo, but it wasn't a Tmo issue). Seems the Nokia 6 no longer switches to HSPA+ mode in order to process the short code (USSD), the workaround is to temporarily toggle the Nokia 6 to 3G, once this is done, the short codes work. I can then place it back onto 4G (LTE).
It used to work, so I am wondering if a recent Nokia update changed this. Not a big deal, I just have to toggle to 3G use the short code, then go back to 4G, a few seconds.
This person stated he had an issue with his LG, and found a setting to allow USSD over IMS in the hidden menu to resolve this so he doesn't have to toggle back and forth. I did not see this option in the hidden menu, so the 6 may not support it.
