Can someone tell me if the MK809 is capable of running the same roms (finless, CM10 etc) and linux as the MK808? As far as I can see this is just a smaller version of the MK808 is there any real difference in the hardware other than the smaller internal storage? I ordered an MK808 just in case the 809 was a pain...
I have both the MK808 and the MK809 coming and i'd like to keep the MK809 if it is as compatible as the 808...
Did you ever find out? I've got a mk809 and would like to try out a custom rom...

I managed to get an icon for Maps using ES File Explorer. IIRC you go into the appmanager side of ES File Explorer, find the Maps app, long press on it and one of the options is "Shortcut".
Looking at this - just got one MK809.
But mine have no printing on the case.
Am I given an imitation one ?
No MK809 printed on the case of the actual stick itself....
Looking for easier way to do a One click root.
If rooted can use a boot apps to switch it off instate of off or pull out power plug
Take the case apart so you know what one you have for sure.

I also have this question;... I got a "mk809" from ebay and there's no mk809 printing on the case; I got it on a small green box with an android logo on it; not hdmi extension cable or adapter; is there a way to know if this a fake without open the case, I don't want to brake it; also there's no way to turn this thing off than pulling out the usb cable, that would definitely damage it in no time, so I have to root this to install one of those "shut down" apps, but what if its not "mk809" then I could brick it if I don't follow the right process... any help????
I also got an MK809 from ebay in a green box with no label on the stick other than a green android logo and I successfully rooted and installed a new rom.
Sent from my SAMSUNG-SGH-I317 using xda premium
I never got to know for sure if mine was a fake or not; I just went to the mk809.com website and updated the firmware from there and it all worked fine, so mk809 or not it looks like many of this devices are the same inside... so I went ahead and root it by following instructions-downloading files from different sources/websites and after a couple of tries I got it root; so I finally installed one of those "shutdown" apps but it doesn't work that well cause it turns back on immediately, so I don't even bother anymore I just turn the tv off if not using for a long period and disconnect it from the usb-power... I haven't installed any custom roms though...
now what I'm looking for is an application to turn the screen off (screen only not lock) because it looks when I'm downloading large files it gets a bit too hot;... but I'm not sure how that would work as how it turns back on or if it locks the screen and I may have to turn it off completely?!?!...so if anyone knows about an app that makes the trick to turn the screen off only, I would appreciate the info...:silly:
edit: nevermind; found this one: https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.katecca.screenofflock
It doesn't locks the screen it just goes off immediately and then back on when I move the mouse or click. It doesn't turn off the phone just screen.

Sorry for the late reply, I missed your post. I used the Finless 1.7 rom and it worked pretty well. It's probably been updated to a newer version. I haven't used mine in a long time since my brother broke the USB port. I tried to fix it but the pins and the traces came off the board [emoji53]

if it still runs then great - but how can you configure it to enable ssh, some kind of a share, or even usb access, without a screen?
can you use it by plugging an hdmi monitor to it? ( don' tknow if your model has hdmi out)
First of all thanks to reply ^^
Yes it still run (or it seems to run ^^) and the "how?" is the the question that i ask ^^
I will try to plug it to an HDMI monitor but I think it will not work (to make the external screen work you have to use a button, that i can't use without screen).
The only thing i've done is going in recovery and use the flash disk with my compute. If only we could make our self .aos i could make a one that accept SSH access, and then the work will be done, but we can't
hmmm.... that's a tricky one then.
Without trying to sound negative, all I can think of is to get another one, take both of them apart to get access to the screen connectors, attach working screen to yours and do whatever programming changes are needed so that when you power it on you can access it or vnc control it from another machine by default without having to touch anything. then put the other one together again and return it to the store or give it back to your generous friend who let you borrow it for the weekend
and no - I'm not that generous ;-)
There may be some other brilliant method but I certainly don't know of it in standard android.
I have bought another one (i was addicted to this thing ^^) but ... open it wil break the garanty so i'm not sure. Maybe i will wait some time before doing this (or wait another idea) but thanks, it's a really good idea ^^
If you can see anything on the screen you can get a wireless keyboard mouse combo to use the device. If you can't see anything you might have a pretty hard time and a lot of guess work flashing a custom kernel with SSH enabled by default. Does angstrom have SSH enabled?
Also not really android dev...

Nothing visible on the screen, only white :S And for Angström I don't know.
(Could someone replace this subject on the right place!)

Cool, I agree about the warranty issue if you own the second 101 yourself.
My suggestions were slightly illegal (buy then return to store "I don't want it after all so would like a refund" LoL) or just not very nice ("thanks, I liked borrowing that over the weekend to play games" LoL).
Wait as long as possible in case someone more clever can help you out.
But I'm glad that my ideas weren't completely crazy anyhow
Cheers,
Don

Hmm, seems like you could flash it with a cooked Uruk configured how you wanted it so that it would work with ssh/vnc from a straight boot. I'm trying to think of the steps that would be involved and if you would need a working screen.
If you knew the exact location of the menu items on the Uruk install you could do it without the screen (press vol down twice, then enter; next step press vol once, enter, etc - these are just examples, obviously). I think Uruk comes with ssh enabled by default. I could be wrong or missing a key step you can't do blindly, just thinking out loud here.
I've never used UrukDroid, but if someone here knows the steps it would be very, very nice! Thanks in advance and Thanks for your help.
Pull apart the broken one and see what the make/model of the screen is and then see if you can buy a new screen.
You could also contact Archos and buy a screen from them.
Thanks, yes I think i'll try to do that ^^
Same problem ...
Broke my screen too!
I'm trying this route ... EBAY - cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=230598268646
Cheaper but you have to use Western-Union: item.taobao.com/item.htm?id=9004146795
I dropped the http : //. I'm new to the forum and they do not let new members post links. I assure all that I have no connection to either link. In fact, I'm still waiting for my purchase from EBAY (it's only been a week or so from over-seas). I obtained the second link from forum(.)archosfans(.)com and had contact with them - they wanted $77 USD plus shipping and payment via WesternUnion. I chose EBAY because I felt I had more financial protection.
So today I'm using my phone then the Car app started on its own and wouldnt close then I noticed my screen orientation would turn when I turned the phone( i have that disabled in settings) so i used TB and uninstalled Google Car and restarted my phone, couple seconds later Google car app pops up again and im like wtf? so i clicked it and it just exits to the home screen, now its just an ongoing service that wont close and i checked running services to see if it was there and it wasn't ?
Any help?

hmmmm interesting.
after deleting it with root explorer you need to reboot the phone, uninstalling it via TB after deleting the apk will help as well
U can try cleaning the usb port out. I haven't tried it, but I have read of people shoving aluminium foil in and out of the port (with the phone off and battery pulled, of course) and blowing it out with canned or compressed air to clean it out. You could also hit it with a soft brush Dremel tool tip if you have one, that's what the guy at Sprint did to mine. If these don't work you might as well take it to Sprint for a new one. Your phone will continue to do it and , if it hasn't already, it will start to go to speaker phone on It's own randomly. Just be careful if u get a new one because they will try to update it before you leave and you can't root it. The guy at Sprint ( who is somewhat of a dousch) told me I had to update my phone even tho I told him I didn't want the update because I like 2.2 better (not really just wanted to root). But because there internet was slow when I went he didn't update mine at the time. Thank god! He did also say that they will be shipping with 2.3 very soon, so if the new bootloader is truly locked there will be no way to root. So you may want to get to Sprint ASAP if u can't fix it on your own. Good luck, hope you get it worked out, because I know how big of a PITA it can be.
clean the usb port. mine was doing this months ago. i ride a street legal dirt bike and usually keep my phone in my front jacket pocket of my mesh jacket so it gets all kinds of dirt on/in it. i used a q-tip and some alcohol and it has been fine ever since.
Looking for a creative solution here. It seems I have a perfectly functioning phone that won't display anything but a short flash of light around the edges of the screen. Capacitive touch works, can feel the haptic feedback. Phone rings, can be answered if you swipe in the right place. Just no display.
I need to send it to Samsung for warranty repair, however I'd like to grab a NAND backup first because they are sure to wipe it. To do that, I need a display! I'm rooted with custom recovery, of course. Can I gain screen control with an app similar to ODIN? If I purchase an MHL to HDMI adapter, will it automatically start showing my screen output on a TV? Is there something else I'm not thinking of?

This might be a long shot but you could try to connect the phone to a tv or monitor. I haven't used it yet. I've not had the money to pick of an adapter or whatever you use. I plan on it though. Either way, I'm assuming it should automatically display on your screen, like typical plug and play devices. Either way good luck. I you could try remote applications, but I'm not sure on how you would get them installed without writing it into the application apk.

It's not in the play store because you don't install it on your phone. It's a Java app, hopefully the forum will allow me to link it: http://droid-at-screen.ribomation.com/

Hello!
Does anybody know details or have experience with the Ordro SW16 3G?
Clone of imacwear M7?
Thanks
Omate/Pearl derivative.
certainly worth the 78 dollars
HI guys,girls
i just receiced the ordo phonewatch today and played with it for a few hours and everything works fine
it has a small screen and have rather big fingers but i still managed to type some messages and i think you have to practice a bit and get used to it
it works.
i called my father to test the phone part and is working very well , speaking with normal voice is clear to hear on the other side and the sound reproduction is quite decent and loud enough to
engage in normal conversation like with a normal fullsize smartphone
the software is sometimes leggy and also the screen is also no so responsive maybe it is because of my fingers i have a lot of callus and with casual
fingers it will work better
the installed software for hartmonitor works with sofware and the camera that did not work at all i had a hartrate of 260 superman??
It can be very usefull and handy and can be a lifesaver in a critical situation that`s for sure.
They claim that the watch is really dust and waterproof and i can say it is well build, i did not submerged the watch in a bowl of water to try it out,but i am confident that the watch will survive a shower
If u want to use this watch as a workhorse on daily basis this watch is certainly not for you and not recommended, it is a nice gadget and for the 78 dollars i payed for is worth the money
you are able to make decent phonecalls and will be always available without carrying a phone and can ideal for sports or other acitivity`s and situations where carying a full size phone is not so conveniant

Just got the ORDRO SW16 from Gearbest. Here's some first impressions:
1. Well built, feels good on the wrist, screen is decent and battery life (on WiFi/BT, don't have a SIM) is good as well.
2. ROOT is difficult to obtain. MTKDroidTools fails, Kingroot, Framaroot and Towelroot all fails. It wasn't until I tried Kingo Root is that Root was attained.
3. BE VERY CAREFUL when using that cradle. You can probably damage the watch by placing it on the cradle slightly tilted when it's plugged in. To elaborate, I cradled the watch and I put it at an angle, misaligning the cradle pins for an eighth of a second. Power probably went wrong way into the watch and caused a sudden shutoff. After reboot, the watch no longer recognizes the PC it is connected to, and my Windows 7 Laptop kept saying "USB Device Malfunctioned." I gave up on it, thinking I fried the USB chip, but it wasn't until 24 hours later that the USB port worked again! It was a scare. Make sure to cradle the watch properly first, then plug in the USB cord. Then unplug the cradle, before taking off the watch to prevent accidents.
4. It comes with Play Store and Google Play Services.
5. The Magnetic Compass is rather finicky and you have to hold it in weird angles to work. The GPS Antenna also acts weirdly and takes a while to get positioning.
6. Encryption is supported! You can Encrypt the phone storage, but you somehow can't encrypt the MicroSD Card from what I see. If there's an ADB Command to enable SD Card Encryption, can anyone post here?
I've been messing around with this watch for a few days now.
I am able to install TWRP and downgrade to Android 4.2 (to avoid 4.4 bugs).
I also managed to install SuperSU and Root Explorer but this does not work very well. Mostly because the screen is too small and the SuperSU Grant/Deny Prompts are obscured by the screen. Even after a workaround, Root Explorer is also limited since the screen isn't big enough to show the buttons at the bottom so you can't assign file permissions.
I will be attempting to mount the SD Card as Internal Storage, then encrypting the watch. Hopefully the "Internal Storage" (aka. SD Card) would also be encrypted as well.
Maybe I should write details how I did this or dump my 4.2 ROM for others to try? I still have not found a fix for the stuck compass needle.
Update.
I'm convinced the compass is defective. I've loaded the official ORDRO Rom, the iMacWear 4.2 ROM, iMacWear 4.4 ROM, some generic clone ROM (x01) and tried root and other variables in between.
None makes the internal compass work, it remains stuck. If you jiggle the watch hard enough or you tilt it in specific ways, you'd get small jumps of the compass working before getting stuck.
Right now I am going to try to reload the original ORDRO ROM to check functionality, then I will attempt to flash the Truesmart ROM. I've read that this is a bad idea, but at this point I am willing to try anything as I got the hang of recovering from bad flashes.
FINAL Update.
Truesmart ROM Freezes on startup. Reverted to Stock Firmware. Compass still stuck.
I think that's it for this experiment. I've wasted too much time trying to see what ROM would unstick the sensor. At this point I am going to return it since it's technically defective.

I know this is an old thread, but....
I was wondering if anyone has been able to install Google+ on this with any other ROM other than the factory?
I have Google+ working, using the location sharing so I know where my son is . I was getting an error about missing shared libraries before.
I first made a backup using MTK Droid Tools: http://www.chinaphonearena.com/foru...up-MTK6592-MTK6589-MTK6577-and-all-MTK-Phones
I then made flashed the recovery following this guide: http://www.gizbeat.com/5786/how-to-make-create-twrp-mt6592-mt6582-mt6572-mt6589-mt6595/
I cautiously ignored the oversized recovery error, it still worked. Afterwards I used the Power Menu app to reboot into recovery and flashed the kk gapps. Google Plus worked fine after that.

well Yeah.. so i bought this stick just now on ebay thinking it should be good enought to give away for streaming some live tv and so on, but
this had obviously the WIFI problem and there i was..
Not beeing able to use WIFI i started to search for different roms and after a couple days constantly searching HOW TO- and downloading different ROMS and watching youtube on how to flash i set up to the task once again..
Beeing able to flash both Nvidia tablets, Samsung Telephones, and Xiaomi i felt confident that i would be able to fix this..
But no, i had a couple different roms that started up With start screen but then that was it, nothing more i couldnt get past start boot logo on either of the 3 roms i thought was correct so i startd to search for same chip roms as this has the 3229 rockchip and the AS something number wifichip..
But then after flashing With a unknown rom it wouldnt start up again or even get recogniced by the computer usb again..
I tried the reset button, i tried shortcutting pin 6-7 and most likely all other as well but no Luck..
There is a blue light but its only halfway as Bright as when the stick was ON and working.
So its like its stuck in some low Power recovery or i dont know..
At least it lights up when i plug it in.
this is the stick With the red "plastic antenna"
Its not an antenne after all by lokking at it but maybe it serves some purpose of making People think its an antenna..
Any suggestions will be apreciated as now i consider it as Waste and after just spending 35 USD on it i would like it to at least get it back so i can sideload some games on it and give it away rather than putting it in the trashcan..
I attach link to the crap i bought so you get the idea of what it is and to also avoid..
Thank you all for all help!!

I also been in the same situation as you, but you have to short pins 7-8 to revive. Its the pins facing the middle of the device, and counting from the device edge/side.
Good luck. If you find a working rom for it, let me know
No, i have had no luck. Piece of **** device.
Got 80% refund from seller after a couple weeks of complaining.
Just throw it away and buy a ZAPPATI media player or a Nvidia shield if you dont use any 3D.

Hi again.
If you ever revive your dongle, you can get a working rom from the following link:
http://freaktab.com/forum/tv-player-support/rockchip-based-tv-players/rk3229-devices/firmware-roms-tools-bg/623420-mk809iv-rk3229-bricked-how-to-unbrick?p=646882#post646882
It worked for me
Thanks. I will try. Any tips in how to revive it??
I also have an mk809iv. I couldn't get developer options to show after tapping build number but it said "no need you are already a developer" (I assume its preunlocked?) I got bored and decided to flash a rom. I have the rockchip factory tool and rockchip batch tool. I tried flashing an update and the problems began lol
OK..... The stick now doesn't have a blue led on AT All. Tried original mains power source different USB cables different ports on laptop etc.
When I connect it to the TV it doesn't show up on the hdmi. Have I really fried it properly ?
Is there a way to use command on pc or adb shell or something to unlock the bootloader. In batch tool I can see the device after shorting pin 6/7 method but when I load firmware and start to flash then it comes up with failed at boot every time and on different versions of the tool.
I rooted the device before with King root (not king o root) and flashed supersu via rom installer app. Assuming that developer options are open by default, the device should be rooted now...... Right? ?
Anyway is there a way to uninstall all the software and reinstall the manufacturers firmware via the pc ? I have included pics of the board, but when looking at other people's pics the have a lot more chips and nand chips etc mine has one chip on the back and on the other side what I presume to be a heat sync (look like a bit of a tin can
Lol)
I have been on many forums for about 48hrs straight now ? and still can't find answers *sigh*
Recap:- 1 is it fried
2 if not can I sort it via pc
3 HOW?! lol
One last thing, would it run on cyanogenmod 11 ? it's an android device running kit kat and my gingerbread S2 is now on cm11 or are the internal "gibbons" different ?
Many thanks to anyone who can lend me a hand ??
