So today I'm using my phone then the Car app started on its own and wouldnt close then I noticed my screen orientation would turn when I turned the phone( i have that disabled in settings) so i used TB and uninstalled Google Car and restarted my phone, couple seconds later Google car app pops up again and im like wtf? so i clicked it and it just exits to the home screen, now its just an ongoing service that wont close and i checked running services to see if it was there and it wasn't ?
Any help?
Im running Cyanogen nightly 88 i believe.
Now running MIUI and the same thing!

That's what I use is root explorer. I guess its just a preference but for me I never liked tb. Move to Ur SD card instead of deleting it in case u need it later. All my Sprint apps I removed are stored in a seperate folder on my SD card

hmmmm interesting.
after deleting it with root explorer you need to reboot the phone, uninstalling it via TB after deleting the apk will help as well
U can try cleaning the usb port out. I haven't tried it, but I have read of people shoving aluminium foil in and out of the port (with the phone off and battery pulled, of course) and blowing it out with canned or compressed air to clean it out. You could also hit it with a soft brush Dremel tool tip if you have one, that's what the guy at Sprint did to mine. If these don't work you might as well take it to Sprint for a new one. Your phone will continue to do it and , if it hasn't already, it will start to go to speaker phone on It's own randomly. Just be careful if u get a new one because they will try to update it before you leave and you can't root it. The guy at Sprint ( who is somewhat of a dousch) told me I had to update my phone even tho I told him I didn't want the update because I like 2.2 better (not really just wanted to root). But because there internet was slow when I went he didn't update mine at the time. Thank god! He did also say that they will be shipping with 2.3 very soon, so if the new bootloader is truly locked there will be no way to root. So you may want to get to Sprint ASAP if u can't fix it on your own. Good luck, hope you get it worked out, because I know how big of a PITA it can be.
clean the usb port. mine was doing this months ago. i ride a street legal dirt bike and usually keep my phone in my front jacket pocket of my mesh jacket so it gets all kinds of dirt on/in it. i used a q-tip and some alcohol and it has been fine ever since.

Ok so my Vouge's screen busted on me and I was using mymobiler to use the phone till I got a replacement. Now I have a temporary phone and I will be getting an HTC HD2 and I would like to get everything off of my Touch and on to the HD2.
Problem is all of a sudden my phone does not want to connect to my computer with either ActiveSync or MyMobiler... I did not change anything that I can think off. The only difference I have noticed is before the phone use to stay lit up regardless of how long the phone was connected to the computer. Now all it will do is show the charging light but the screen dims after a a bit and then eventually turns off but still shows the charging light. As long as I have had this phone it never did this while connected to a computer it always stayed light up...
Is there anything thing I can do to get this to connect again?? Any help would be great, thanks in advance guys...

It might not do anything but it is worth a shot anyways. Take out the battery for a couple of seconds, put it back in, and turn on the device. Then, connect it back to the computer, but to a different USB port than the one you normally use.
Yeah I have tried that to though I used the same usb port so I will try it again after work... I don't understand what happened it worked fine like a week ago now nothing... I really would like to get the stuff off of it. Sprint told me the port may have went bad and I am going in Friday to have them look at it but still doesnt't seem like that is the issue.

I agree, otherwise it wouldn't even charge.
Yeah that is what I was thinking... but then again it is acting like I am using the wrong USB cord. Like I have a mini usb cord for my external hard drive and if I would use that it back when my phone worked it would do the same exact thing, just charge and not connect.
But I am using the cord provided by HTC and I even tried using my digital camera's cord because I know that one would work to before. Nothing... This is pissing me off I don't understand why it randomly doesn't want to work after 2 years of no issues...

Well, it could be that the reason why your screen failed was because of a problem with the electronics (board on the phone) and after such a long time using it, it finally gave up. Kinda like riding in your car with a nail in the tire. You can keep going, but eventually... it will give in.

Hi. I moved from a DInc on Verizon to the Vibrant because I hated the sunlight on an AMOLED, and because Verizon was stealing my money. Although honestly verizon just lowered prices, and Tmo's network is still crap in my town.
Anyways down to business: My phone is rooted, and I applied one click lag fix. I am assuming that was when problems started but then again not for sure. I've gone from stock to Vibrant5 to Vibrant6 roms, no change.
The first problem here is this: my phone always thinks it's plugged in to USB. It cycles on an off, but never just stops and stays normal. I'm talking several times a minute ''usb connected'' or whatever on, off, on, off... annoying but no big deal. Except that freaking battery meter that pops up when your phone is off but plugged in via USB starts popping up when it's not plugged in and my phone is turning on... but since there isnt really usb in, it just hangs and resets. The second I plug in a real usb, meter pops up and i just turn it on and all good.
Second problem, which makes it so bad: my phone does this things that I've seen on XDA several times where when the processor bogs down, or GPS is on, or whatever taxes the phone, it will randomly reset once or twice a day.
Put those together and what you get is me, in public away from a charger, with a phone that won't turn on. WTF. So I repeatedly take the battery out and jam the power button till once in a while I'm able to start it before the stupid usb thinks its plugged in. Other times I'm screwed till I find my car charger.
Now, what can I do? Before anyone says warranty, yes I unrooted, did my best to unlagfix, and went to the Tmo store. They ordered me a new phone. However I have to send mine in when it gets and here and would like to insure there is no root related crap for them to find, plus I'm stuck with this phone freaking out on me for another week.
I was having the same problem , but it started since.my dougther put the usb canle in her mouth xD , I just cleaned the contacts and waited a few hours but now is fine , running

If people keep messing up their phones by rooting and flashing roms and then, rather than trying to fix the problem, send them into tmobile, I bet future firmwares and android phones will be more like the iPhone and iOS.
First I would try to flash it back to stock and leave t factory. Then if problem persist, its probably hardware. I mean you are returning it anyways so flash it back to the stock rom and do a factory reset

So when I plug in my phone to the computer it won't connect, it just charges. Last time this happened I had to format myy sd card but I can't afford to do that now. This really is annoying and its making me dislike the phone more and more. Any help anyone? Thanks.

This does sound like a charge-only cable is being used.
No the cable worked well on my evo and it worked on my epic after i rooted it. Yesterday i installed the syndicate rom, then i switched back to epic experience, which was updated so installed the update. And now it doesn't want to connect to the computer. I had this problem when i first got the epic, i just formatted the SD card and that fixed it.
I've always had this problem. What I did is just unplug the cord from the phone and computer as well. Then plug the usb into a different port and then plug it into the phone and hit mount. If that doesn't work, id suggest rebooting the phone and trying again.

Having this exact problem right now.. I thought it was cause I was using 64 bit on my PC.. so I went to the office to try a 32 bit there.. I also wiped the phone, cleared the memory, rebooted the phone, tried different drivers, etc etc.. Nothing worked.
Then I realized that if I held the cable into the phone a certain way, it worked for a quick min.. so I realized the USB port was busted..
I went to the sprint store and they confirmed the USB port is bad.. so now I need to wait for a refurbed phone.. Which I am pissed about as I just bought this $500 phone 60 days ago, and now I have to get a refurb cause I didnt know my USB was messed up till now. Spent 3 hours on the phone with Sprint and 2 hours in the store, but since I am passed the 30 days, I am screwed and can only get a used phone back instead of a new one.
HEY
i had the same problem i had samsung check my computer remotely from were they located an they see my phone was defected an the guy say i need to turn it in to them so now im waiting on it they about to reflash it with a new software an rom an fix gps an wifi issues for me for free your phone have to have warranty go to the samsung website an check its all free shipping and handling an free service
I was. But a stroke of luck brought me to stumble upon the solution. If your USB connections won't work for crap... do this at a terminal emulator. No root or custom kernel needed.
Code:
echo 1 > /sys/class/sec/switch/FactoryResetValue
You're welcome.
Thanks to UberPinguin for his kernel patch to enable kernel messages over USB, which led me to check out the other items in that directory.
EDIT: It's 7am and I haven't slept yet. I thought I posted this in general. Post reported.
EDIT2: This method isn't guaranteed and may not work more than once.
EDIT3: And for those wondering, my device is not back in service yet - this method worked once, then the problem changed.
Awesome konane. LOL about your posts edit though. GO TO BED!!!

Have you guys tried using a different cable other than the samsung stock one? I've been having USB issues forever on various computers/OS's and NO ONE on the entire internet knows how to solve this--all leading to unknown device. I tried a different cable and suddenly it worked...I haven't seen my folder pop up via USB since I first got the phone until that.
I have tried upwards of 6 different cables (Blackberry, HTC, Motorola, and other random ones) and none of them have worked.
I had this problem on my phone and sent it in to Samsung. I wasn't able to get the device to recognize on the computer (checked with multiple cables, machines, lspci, etc). It was covered by warranty, but I went without a phone for over a week. This is what Samsung's repair log said:
REPLACED CONNECTOR AND U606
I'm not sure what the U606 is, and was not able to identify it in the teardown here:
www(dot)chipworks(dot)com/en/technical-competitive-analysis/resources/recent-teardowns/2010/09/teardown-of-the-samsung-epic-4g-smart-phone/
Since receiving my phone, I haven't seen the problem again.
Have you guys tried this?
Its crude but worked for me. All my phone was doing was charging, no mass storage, no usb debugging, etc. A little poke and like magic, I was back in business. I recommend using a guitar pic
When you mention that you moved the center slightly down. Does that mean more towards the center or towards the upper edge?
I guess either way this didn't help me

This fix worked for me...used a small leafing knife and just kinda wedged the middle pins slightly up and "out" of the Jack...charging normal, computer reads now...YeEeEaAAA
For anyone who fry's this...just very lightly "baby bump" the prongs....they are very weak and snap off VERY easily....hence the original problem

Ok. Thanks.
I'll try it again when I get home tonight. I dont really notice any of the small pins within the device... Mine might already be broken off.
I tried. Moved it up towards the top of the device. Nothing... probably SOL
Ok so maybe I spoke too soon. Yesterday I was telling my brother that the Note is the most reliable phone I've ever owned.....then....
I started having issues with charging. My Note would not charge, then it would change after several resets. It would charge, then stop, then start again etc etc....making a lot of beeping noises.
Now, it seems to be charging, but Voice talk keeps loading, and I've turned off the home key activation option. I also get the notification icon saying to disable car mode.
I really hope someone can help, thanks in advance.
kris
Great, now it's not charging, again!
Actually when I get the notification issue from Voice talk, the battery starts charging for a second until the notification disappears and stops charging....
Now factory reset my phone again and charging worked while restarting and restoring but when loaded the voice talk app keeps coming up and going off, so I have a black flashing screen constantly....gonna try restarting/reset without restoring...
Hi leicashot, this shouldn't happen. Which firmware version are you currently running? I recommend installing the latest LB1 stock, unless you have AT&T Note.
Some users have reported similar symptoms when there was dust in the mini usb port. Try cleaning the device, and if all else fails, you should send it back to Samsung for repair.

I'm using the latest 2.6.35.7. Any idea how to try clean the port? Definitely seems like something is wrong with the port....
No charging issues for me but my Note started doing the driving mode thing at about 3am today and has been doing it on and off all day!
Exceedingly annoying!
are you trying to charge from a PC or a wall outlet?
I usually charge via mains but it wasn't charging or even plugged in at the time this started happening. It was just sitting on the table by my bed. I even powered it off but it switched itself back on!
Here is how to fix it.
Take out the battery and take a plastic edge like credit card or even a regular tiny small screwdriver and push the pins (strip) inside the phone. I mean, to take the screw driver and push in the pins back inside the phone, in inside the usb charging port. your problem will disappear. make sure your plastic flexible after-market phone cover has a big enough hole at the bottom to allow you to connect a usb cable easily to the phone, or else, cut open a bigger hole on the cover.
Good luck
so here it is again: you have to push in the usb port pins back inside the phone, straight in without bending them. you can also buy a usb charging port from ebay for 22 bucks and change it yourself in 10 minutes. its a hardware problem so stop resetting your phone.
Nop bro i dont think so, cuz it happened same with me sometime after i bought galaxy note same thing happened with me too. I mean exactly same. So before i didnt knew rooting and flashin roms and all so i gave to service centre and they put newer version of ron in it and my problem was fixed after that.

Indeed. I remain convinced this is not hardware and is software related. The main reason for my thoughts there are that as well as the driving mode thing it seems that some piece of software is trying to load up as it asks me if I want to run whatever it is in either Clock or TuneIn Radio. Bizarre. Also, the first time it happened it was bang on 3am. Everytime I turned the phone off it would come back on exactly two minutes later.
The second night it started doing it bang on 1am.
I'm waiting to see what time it starts tonight.
It doesn't (so far) do it at all during the day.
Going to give it a couple of days to see what happens then go figure out how to go back to a factory ROM rather than the the Rocket 22 I have on here now.

I've been having the same problem for a few days now.
I've just pushed the pins in with the corner of my charging cables connector and the problem stopped.
There was also a notification that flashed up saying something like: USB connector or device removed.
Voice talk is still managing to launch itself, even after pushing the pins in. I'm on stock LB2 so maybe I've finally found a reason to flash a GB rom?
