[TIP][Jellybean][Flash always on fix] Dolphin Beta browser + Adobe Flash - Galaxy Note GT-N7000 General

Hello everybody I shall be brief,
Tired of having on-demand flash? Needless tapping to get things started? Running Jellybean? Then do this: (yes I sound like a ****ty commercial)
1. Grab and install flashplayer http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1774336
2. Grab Dolphin Browser for Android from Google Play.
3. With your favourite file explorer navigate to: /data/data/com.dolphin.browser.lab.en/shared_prefs/com.dolphin.browser.lab.en_preferences.xml
4. Make sure to force close Dolphin Beta then delete com.dolphin.browser.lab.en_preferences.xml
5. Start dolphin again, com.dolphin.browser.lab.en_preferences.xml will be recreated. Note: At this point Flash will automatically be on-demand, and if you're fine with that - then you're done here. If you want always-on, then continue.
6. With your file explorer navigate to: /data/data/com.dolphin.browser.lab.en/shared_prefs/com.dolphin.browser.lab.en_preferences.xml
7. Edit the line <string name="plugin_state">ON_DEMAND</string> to <string name="plugin_state">ON</string>. If it the line isn't there type it in at the bottom of this file, and save.
8. Done.
TL;DR: Modify line containing <string name="plugin_state">ON_DEMAND</string> in /data/data/com.dolphin.browser.lab.en/shared_prefs/com.dolphin.browser.lab.en_preferences.xml to <string name="plugin_state">ON</string> or add it if it doesn't exist, then force close and restart Dolphin Beta browser. Now Adobe Flash always loads automatically.

the changes do not stick.
EDIT: I had to change permissions to read only. (do NOT open dolphin) then immediately rebooted. now they stick.. TY for this
EDIT: It COULD have been that I didn't reboot after I installed flash. No way to know that without re-installing it which I'm not going to do lol

i have flash player working on jellybean but with another method ..
but u need an old version of either firefox or dolphin for it to work properly..anyhow your method is more intresting..i will try it :victory:

Thanks
I could enable flash on Dolphin 9.3.1 (non beta) by editing this file:
/data/data/mobi.mgeek.TunnyBrowser/shared_prefs/mobi.mgeek.TunnyBrowser_preferences.xml
I also discovered the change does no stick between reboots so I changed this file permission to 440 instead of 660.
Cheers,

All i do to get flash working is uninstall it via titanium then just restore a backup of it, simple

I use dolphin browser, and to get flash working I uninstalled flash, then restored just the app (not app+data) using titanium backup

Using Xperia ZL (yes I know this is a different forum) this worked great, with the caveat that I had to edit the file twice -- the first time (after it was recreated) it was absent, typed it in; started Dolphin and it changed to "ON_Demand". Edited the file again, it stuck this time (have rebooted and tried multiple times -- still on, still working).
Thank you.

Lost "paste" feature after 4.1.1 upgrade

Hi,
Has anyone ever noticed that a "paste" function stopped working after 4.1.1 update ?
I can copy a block of text into a clipboard, but I can't paste it.

No such issue. Have you flashed with Custom ROM? Is your phone rooted? Provide more info here in order for forum members to help you.
Sorry, forgot to provide all the details.
I was on a stock 4.0.4 (unbranded netherlands), then flashed 4.1.1 that was released on 31/10 via Odin. Also I did wipe cache via android recovery.
The phone is non-rooted.
In 4.0.4 I had the common problem with not working "copy". Every time I tried to copy something into the clipboard the app just crashed.
Now I can copy, but can't paste.
For example, I open a webpage in Chrome browser and copy a street name. Then go to Maps app and pressing on a search box waiting for "paste" menu to pop up. But nothing happens.
Emmm, long press?

I had the same problem when I flashed the Polish JB stock ROM a few weeks back. Now running AOKP and haven't had the problem come up again, that solved it for me at least .

I had the same issue once.. i don't remember how I solved it, but there is an easier solution somewhere here than I had done it..
Try searching for "clipboard" on here. Surely you will find something. As I recall it was something to do with the clipboard folder in the system files.

Hi.
Same case, JB 4.1.1 cant paste.
I tried many things (wipe cache/dalvik reinstall same room) but finally i solved with this:
You can try to delete all files and folders inside /data/clipboard, obviously you need any filexplorer with root access like "ES File Explore, root explorer etc...., and aply root RW permissions
Don't delete "clipboard" folder, only their content.
Reboot after.

anyone have the original browser from galaxy nexus? (and flash)

i was wondering if anyone got the original browser installed, i dont like chrome, the other one was so much smoother
also does anyone have an APK of flash to work on 4.2?
Most ROMs come with the stock browser.

There's a thread with a link and explanation on how to install if you don't want a custom ROM.

Is the ChromeBookmarksSyncAdapter.apk supposed to sync my bookmarks? I placed it into the system folder, and renamed the two apps in there already, rebooted and the Browser showed up, and works just fine, but I don't see any option to sync my browser. I went into Settings - Add Account, but only my apps (like facebook, and google) are shown, not the browser. Any ideas on how to get that working?

You have to go to Settings, Google, click on your gmail. Browser should show up there, and you can put a checkmark beside it to enable syncing,

flash player not working

Ive installed the apk, and tried on multiple browsers including boat, xscope, naked, dolphin, and mozilla just to name a few. Every one of which works fine on every other device. Im stock, not rooted. Not going to root until theyre are some recoveries and solid method to unroot. Flash player will install, and I can open up flash settings in every browser, but as soon as I go to watch some flash content, it will work for a sec, then freeze and force close. On every browser. Interesting thing is, after it force closes, I open the browser back up and google flash player test and see if its working. And its no longer installed in the browser. Go back to flash player setting, install and open in browser, go to test flash again, and its there. Until I goto watch another video and it force closes. Does anyone else have this problem? Anyone whos rooted able to play flash?
This could be a deal breaker if it doesn't work

Interesting. Flash works on my phone just fine. I however am rooted using the motochopper method. It literally takes 1 minute to root and yes it works for the SPH-L720 (sprint) SGS4. I use dolphin browser. Now with 4.1+ of android they have disabled flash player by default in dolphin but you can get it back with a hack. And yes sorry you have to be rooted to do it. I'll attach some screenies of flash working with dolphin if that'll boost your confidence level any.
The method to unlock flash on dolphin is as follows:
1. Grab and install flashplayer here.
2. Grab Dolphin Beta from Google Play.
3. With your favorite file explorer navigate to: /data/data/com.dolphin.browser.lab.en/shared_prefs/com.dolphin.browser.lab.en_preferences.xml
If it the line isn't there type it in at the bottom om this file, and save.

As for solid recoveries (if you're on sprint that is)? Your wish is my command: here
Rooting Video:
For Dolphin i've always had to install flash, then restore a backup from ICS in which I had flash enabled.
There has to be an easier way then the steps rawintellect just posted to get flash player on the S4, right? If anyone else knows of any workarounds please do share.

[GUIDE] How To Install Apps In Second Rom

Hai, if you using dualboot mode, I just found the new way to install app in second rom without entering it, it's easy
- Open root explorer/ file explorer
- Choose the app you want[if you have the APK files], or take it from the folder data/app in your primary rom
- Copy the APK files to folder .secondrom/data/app [paste here]
- Don't rewrite the permission, it's automatic changed
- Now reboot, n enter your second rom
Note: I only try this in the primary rom, so if you wanted to try it in second rom, tell me it's works or not
Don't forget to hit THANKS button

Google Maps?

So I'm rooted with the De La Vega method and it works great. As we all know, the new google maps v7 will not allow you to do a lot of things that the old versions would allow. I've found some older APKs from v6 and previous, but when I go to install, it will not allow it. Any ideas why, or how to get around it?
I'm interested in this as well. Plus the navigation voice is so robot like and it can hardly pronounce street names properly.

I'd imagine maps is a system app, so using a file explorer go to system> apps and replace the maps apk with your older one, change permissions and reboot.

Sorry I'm not familiar with es file explorer. I use root explorer and just long press the file and select change permissions. Maybe try changing the extension of the original apk to something like .bak before you copy the new apk then you could always go back if you wanted the newest version again.

Once I downloaded the correct app to allow permission changes, I was able to rename the v7 file, copy over the v6 file and rebooted with no problems. However, the application didn't show up in the app list. So, I had to then install that same APK and everything works great. I now have all of my stored maps back!
What can't u do on v7?

There are several places online that have archives. I also had my APKs all backed up in such an event.
If you get blackout updater (Google play) or in Android themes. The blacked out version of Google maps is the last V6 version. I was glad to have the map view back.
