Dosen't ubuntu require a dual core processor?

It requires a cortex-A9. Technically there could be a single core A9 but as the A9 is a lot faster than the Snapdragon (scorpion core), there will be a lot of stuttering I expect.
And what is the point of who will be the first to port x product to y device posts? It doesn't really serve any purpose.
Personally, I don't think this port is going to even happen.

Ok was curious. Didn't know it needed certain specs.

From what ive read quad and dual core are supposed to be better on battery life, they dont use all the cores at the same time

Ubuntu for Galaxy S

So I was having a look at Ubuntu being released for android devices..
It was just mind blowing that i got so excited whether our devices will get it or not..
What do you guys think?
Is there any hope to get Ubuntu running on our devices?
Hope so
Verstuurd van mijn GT-I9000 met Tapatalk
I'm sure, Ubuntu will be able on our phone. Even Android 4.2.1 was ported, Ubuntu needs the same drivers. So, why not?
do we have that dock and hdmi output support on our mobile?
I doubt the Galaxy S will get it officially, but someone could port it.

The I9000 sadly doesn't support HDMI output, so that can't happen.
Well, there has been some discussion whether or not the phone hardware is capable of it, but I think that too was shelved...

also think our phone wont get it officalialy it was said something about dual core need or smthing,
but it look slick and cool. Even worth of buying new phone for this ^^
I personally think a single 1ghz core is enough to run ubuntu.
but the hdmi output is the only problem..
And @omegavesko
I'm damn sure we're not going to get it officially

Have you actually seen those adapters in action? The rumor that we could use them was started by Samsung adding the item to the i9000 accessories page along with some bogus claim by a Samsung representative we would get to use it... Truth is our hardware doesn't support HDMI output.

[Discussion] Ram on Xperia Play

Hello everyone. This thread is directed towards those who are good with taking apart the play and putting it back together and replacing parts. But anyone may comment their opinion.
First off where is the ram for the play stored in the hardware? By this i mean where is it located?
Can it be replaced with a larger ram storage disk or whatever its called to give the play more ram?
These are questions but im just using them to start the discussion so thats why i put it in general section.
Please leave your opinions and tell if this is possible.
WOULDNT IT BE AWESOME IF WE COULD INCREASE THE RAM SIZE? THE PLAY WOULD BE REBORN!
This was just a thought and i have no idea if its possible because im a newb when it comes to hardware so please dont call me an idiot and just tell me what you think. Thanks
Sent from my r800x using xda developers app
I also am not very good at hardware things but I think RAM is located inside the MSM8255 chip. The same for GPU and CPU. Everything is inside one chip.
So it's impossible to change the hardware and get more RAM. You would have to change the whole hardware-related things even including radio and bluetooth. Everything, just everything. With new chip this phone couldn't be named Xperia PLAY anymore. And you would have to reprogram everything.
phones are a little different you cant just swap things, you would have to get the ram files and flash them to a new chip which is probably as big as a baby rats fingernail and then solder it on if you want ill upload the xperia play schematic or link you to the thread I made which has it.
Cool thanks so its possible to do so?
Sent from my r800x using xda developers app
Well anything is possible really but the difficulty would be EXTREME also you would have to modify you Rom and kernel to recognize that chip as your ram chip.

if you really wanna tune your xplay "just" replace the SoC with a better one (e.g. current gen snapdragon s3/s4, tegra 3, etc) and start reprogramming the software.
it is doable, but not really worth the effort if not done on a business scale, cause when you've done with everything on your own the chip gonna be as outdated as the xplay currently is.
I honestly think the RAM being this low was poorly thought out.
