Hey guys! First time poster here! So please excuse me if i make some silly statements.
I got my Nexus 4 back in the beginning of December, but has started using it until very recently (a few days ago). Everything worked fine, until a few days ago when I realized that when I rotate my phone, the screen will no longer rotate. I went into settings and made sure that auto-rotate is still on. But still, nothing happens when I rotate my phone. I have not tampered with the device in any way, and haven't dropped it or anything (in fact, because I don't have a case for it yet, I don't even carry it with me)
I then downloaded sensor box from the app store, and I realized that not only is the accelerometer not working, but neither is anything other sensor (light, orientation, proximity, gyro, magnetic, pressure), the only sensor that seemed to be working is sound, and for everything else it just says "no change detected." I rebooted the device, even reset it to factory settings, but still, nothing seemed to work.
Yesterday when I tried to turn on the phone again, I realized that the battery has died. So I recharged it and stuff. And after recharging, the sensors started to work again! all of them! So I was really happy, until a few minutes ago, when they stopped working again.
Something I noticed is that the sensors stopped working after I play games on my phone. The first time it was NFS, and the second time it was fruit ninja. The phone got quite hot when I played games, and in the case of NFS, as I was playing I realized that the accelerometer has stopped working.
Any suggestions???? Thanks in advance guys!

So i have had my phone for the past 9 days and love it, never really played too many games or anything but a couple of days i noticed that when I watched a movie, exiting would keep the home screen horizontal and it wouldn't flip back to vertical.
didn't really think anything of it until last night when it did it again and then I installed a game also that uses the movement of the phone, however the dude would just fly straight and wouldn't go up, down, or in any direction. then ran into a bridge and kept bumping into it.
So i downloaded a leveler program and even that stays centered. can't find anything to try to calibrate it.
I have the orientation check marked under display settings and even unchecked it and checked it again trying both but no go.
called tech support but they couldn't figure it out.
I have my phone rooted, and i did freeze a few basic programs but nothing related to the display.
is this most likely hardware related? the motion sensing isn't working at all for the phone, movements don't do anything.
probably going to go exchange it tomorrow at verizon. just wondering if something software related might have messed it up.
I have a stock Verizon GS5 running the stock 4.4.2 that shipped on it, and I have not accepted any OTA's or other updates.
Everything worked normally until Wednesday when for some reason all the sensors on the phone went dead, and the phone became impossibly slow for about 10 minutes after a reboot before it returns to normal. I hadn't installed any new apps in the last few weeks or changed anything on the phone that I know of. I did try downloading Malwarebytes for a scan and it found nothing.
I have no accelerometers, ambient light, barometric pressure, proximity, magnetometer, or heart rate. Fingerprint and GPS do still work.
Does anyone have any idea what happened or what to do to fix it?
Thanks,
-B

Do a factory reset. If that does not fix things, RMA it back to where you bought it.
This smartphone is awesome, it barely overheats and runs perfectly smooth most of the time. Yesterday I finally managed to get it to overheat by playing a game while charging it (I played Badland and I was really into the game, so I plugged my device in, because I wanted to finish the last level). So it didn't lag or anything but it became a bit hot and the back/home/task manager buttons stopped working, no matter how many times I touch them. I restarted the device and they started working again, but then stopped again. When the phone cooled off, they started working normally like nothing was wrong with them.
My concern is - can this become an issue in the future (like someday the buttons will stop functioning permanently), should I worry about this or should I just try not to overheat my device (like not using it when it's charging for games). Has anyone else ever had an issue like this? Thank you!
Today, my fingerprint scanner just stopped working, including the notifications gesture. Restarted the phone, went fine, then the same thing happened after work on the way home. Rebooted, still wouldn't work. Started working again when I got home. Installed the OTA update and reregistered the fingerprints. Will keep an eye on it.
Anyone else had this issue?
I had a similar issue as well. On two different occasions the sensor stopped working completely, both unlock and notification gesture. Rebooting the phone seemed to fix it for me.
It is really annoying - especially since as it doesn't happen constantly it might not help taking the phone back for warranty.
I have been having a problem lately, I feel like it was started after the last OTA (Verizon). After a while, some of my sensors stop producing data. Most notably the compass, magnetic, and gyro. I use the magnetic sensor in a tasker task to launch car mode when I stick my phone to the car dock (it is a Spindo magnetic dock). I was having troubles with the task executing and exiting car mode when I removed my phone and noticed that the magnetic sensor wasn't producing data anymore. I looked closer using an app and noticed that a lot of my sensors stop working at this time. I am not sure if it only happens now when I use the dock, or if it just happens after a period of time. But rebooting it will bring the sensors back to life.
Anyone see this before? Any ideas on causes/fixes?
Just an update, it does not seem to be tied to using the magnetic dock. I rebooted my phone before lunch and I used the dock twice after and it was still working. On my way back from lunch I noticed the sensors had stopped working at some point after that.
Anyone have ideas on this?

Any solution?
Have you found any solution? My at&t s7 started having this same problem. All the sensors just stop working and I have to reboot my phone for a temp fix. I have also noticed it gets hot around the same time it happens. Does your phone become noticeably hot?
Nope. Haven't found a solution. I haven't noticed my phone getting hot either though.
